The paper presents for the first time the register of births of the church of St. Nicholas in Kuršumlia, kept during 1916-1918, during the occupation of Serbia in the First World War. This study deals with the manuscript book of the Library of the Serbian Patriarchate (Biblioteka Srpske patrijarsije = BSP) ?32 from the 1550s or early 1560s which is an exact handwritten copy of the printed Gorazde Prayer Book or Trebnik (1523). Translation of medical terms from English into Serbian implies observing lexical and grammatical rules of the Serbian language in order to have appropriate, precise and correct translation equivalents. These anthroponymic materials provide important sociological, ethnographic, linguistic and historical evidence of the population of Serbian areas included in the census. The article discusses the identification of textual and pictorial sources that were used in 1717 by the famous Serbian writer Gabriel Stefanović Venclović (c. 1680 – c. 1749) to compile a handwritten textbook containing a collection of elementary knowledge on the Slavonic language, grammar, and the basics of the Orthodox faith.
