Mechanism controlling longitudinal movements of guide bars in a warp knitting machine is still employed in many factories in China. But it is use a lot of time in order to change the type of fabrics. This sort of mechanism is gradually replaced by stepping motor that controlled by microcomputer. So, it is need to send data that guide bar need to move from computer to microcomputer. A circuit of transmission data is designed. The serial communication uses port of RS232C and potential convertor MAX232ACPE without model. There are use only three lines of RXD, TXD and GND of the serial communication port in the microcomputer (80C51). The protocol of transmission data is programmed. The serial communication baud rate at 2400 is set. The data that control movement of guide bars can be transmitted rightly.

A distributed data acquisition system based on multi-computer communication among Single-chip Microcomputers is proposed in this paper. The AT89S52 is used as the control core, and multi-computer communication is realized by bus RS485. The hardware construction of the system is introduced. Circuits of each module including the microcomputer, temperature sensor, communication interface and voice alarming are designed. Process of multi-computer communication is described. Programs of master serial transmission and slave serial receiving are written and compiled. Experiments are conducted on temperature measure and acquisition. The results show that a satisfied effectiveness is obtained. A reliable performance can be achieved.

Intelligent robot control using multiprocessors, sensors, and actuators requires real-time flexible networks for communicating various types of real-time data, e.g., sensing data and interrupt signals. Furthermore, serial data transfer is required for implementing the network using a few wiring lines. To meet these requirements, we propose a CDMA serial communication interface utilizing novel two-step synchronization. The transmitter and receiver chip fabricated with 0.25μm digital CMOS technology achieved 2.7Gcps (chips per second) and 7-multiplex communication. The experimental interface board was developed for demonstrating flexible transfer of multiimage data by installing CDMA chips in addition to an FPGA.

A serial communication protocol according to motion control (MC) system data format has been developed. Based on taking management platform which can be embedded controller or personal computer (PC) as the MC data sending station and motion controller whose core is Digital Signal Processor (DSP) as the MC data receiving station, the detailed situation of how to use the data transfer protocol and the data processing method in MC system is described. Firstly, the organization format of the serial communication data frame is introduced. Then, the relevant saving format of the MC data received by motion controller is described, and the way of how to receive the MC data from serial port is designed. Finally, the whole process of data saving in RAM and data taking out from RAM by motion controller are stated. With the serial communication protocol, a control solution has been provided in the MC system.

The virtual serial port server makes use of CAN-bus network for data communications, guaranteeing the reliability of communic-ation, improving the RS-232 transmission distance, and simplifying the wiring process. Meanwhile user’s operation of the virtual serial port and a standard PC are compatible with the basic serial port operation. However, if there is a large number of continuous transmission of data to the case, the ac-tual serial data transfer rates is determined by the number of virtual serial port.

A Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter (UART) is usually implemented for asynchronous serial communication, mostly used for short distance communications. It allows full duplex serial communication link and is used in data communication and control system. Nowadays there is a requirement for on chip testing to overcome the product failures. This paper targets the introduction of Built-in self test (BIST) for UART to overcome the above two constraints of testability and data integrity. The 8-bit UART with BIST module is coded in Verilog HDL and synthesized and simulated using Xilinx XST and implemented on SPARTAN 3E FPGA. Results indicate that this model eliminates the need for expensive testers and thereby it can reduce the development time and cost.

Abstract:
In this paper, a novel low-power synchronous preamble data line protocol chip design for serial communication is proposed. The serial communication only uses two wires, chip select (CS) and secure digital (SD), to transmit and receive data between two devices. The proposed protocol aims to use a fewer number of wires for the interface, therefore reducing the complexity as well as the area of the chip design. Moreover, it increases the efficiency through a synchronous serial communication-controlled oscillator. The low-power synchronous preamble data line protocol design was successfully verified using a field-programmable gate array (FPGA) as a master device and a real chip as a slave device. The signals are checked through the use of a logic analyzer. The realized low-power synchronous preamble data line protocol chip design has a gate count of only 5.07 K gates, a low power dissipation of 12 mW, and a chip area of 453,260 μm2 using the Taiwan semiconductor manufacturing company (TSMC) 0.18 μm CMOS process. Compared with the three-wire serial peripheral interface (SPI) protocol, the proposed design has the advantages of having a lower cost and a lower power consumption.

Data transmission is one of key techniques of acquisition station for seismic data acquisition system. With the development of electronics, computer science and communication science, a good realization method has become available for seismic data transmission. The paper focused on the independent design & development of Manchester encoding module, Manchester decoding module and parallel/serial and serial/parallel conversion module by hardware description language (HDL) with FPGA as main control unit and Manchester code and low-voltage differential signaling as theoretical basis. It can realize data transmission speed of 16Mbps between seismic data acquisition stations. Testing results showed low error rate during data transmission to ensure that seismic data acquisition station can read commands sent by power station and convey seismic data correctly.

The techniques of serial communication utilized in a developed electrocardiogram (ECG) monitor programmed by the LabVIEW are introduced in the paper. By utilized the VISA serial communication functions included in the LabVIEW, some functions of serial ports such as opening and closing, commands sending and responses receiving, etc. can be easily called. Then, the communication between the ECG sensor and the ECG virtual instrument is established. By this way, the opening and the closing controls of the ECG sensor, the ECG data acquisition, the data processing and storage, the real-time drawing of the ECG waveform and so on can performed simply. As a result, serial communication by the LabVIEW make the program development of the ECG monitor becoming much quicker, more convenient and high efficient.

It is important to understand how the 2.5D integration of chips on the interposer can support serial communication and what the designer can do to leverage the special features of interposer channel to achieve lower power and higher speed. This paper will present the interposer complete channel full 3D Electromagnetic simulation based model extraction. It also presents the simulation of channel with real serial communication transmitter and receiver circuit models to describe the proposed interposer performance for multi Gb/s data rates. Also a comparison is shown for different settings of transmitter and receiver circuits under the interposer channel.

Abstract:
The Arduino Board has been widely used as a prototyping device for both educational, research and commercial purposes. The ability of Arduino boards to be connected with electronic devices or gadgets such as Android operating system devices is getting more attention among researchers. By utilizing the various capabilities possessed by most Android operating system devices on the market today, the Arduino board will certainly have extraordinary intelligence. Some of the ways that Android devices can communicate with Arduino are via a Bluetooth shield, Wi-Fi shield, and also by serial communication. The idea that emerged was to utilize the ATMega328 microcontroller serial communication capability on the Arduino board. Serial data sent from an Android device is passed through an audio jack cable then connected to the Rx port on the Arduino board. In this Final Project will be designed and realized serial communication between the Android and Arduino platforms through audio channels with text input with the aim that Android can send text data through audio channels with audio cables. In testing the data speed utilizing the Arduino serial monitor it was found that the optimal speed was 19200bps. Whereas the maximum speed is 38400bps which can still be used for uniform serial data communication with an error of less than 5%. However, the maximum speed cannot be used for diverse data because the data error is more than 30%. The data cannot be read at speeds of 14400bps, 28800bps, speeds under 300bps and speeds above 57600bps.

Abstract:
The FPGA-based 10/100M Ethernet MAC controller and universal asynchronous serial communication controller are designed and connected on chip in this paper. Such functions as writing data transmitted by the serial interface to the Ethernet controller and sending them to the network, and serially outputting network data received by the Ethernet controller are implemented and interconnection communications between Ethernet and the serial are achieved, possessing great practical values in system test. Modularization design is performed on the whole system with VHDL in this study, whose hardware application is verified on Xilinx Virtex2P XC2VP30 development board. The simulation results prove that the design has reliability, stability and good applications in the data transmission test.

Abstract:
In order to obtain road information to process and requiring movement precision for intelligent mobile robots, we propose solution based on data collection and analysis to control motor. First, we introduce the basic method of serial communication on Matlab. Then, we design PC serial communication and test platform with step motor in Matlab environment. Finally, we can control the mobile robots’ motor driver by processing external data with Matlab. The results show that the solution improves the data-process ability of intelligent sweep-robots, greatly simplifies the development process, improves the efficiency of system development, and can be humanized to write and modify mobile robots’ motion path by PC.

Dengan menerapkan metoda SPI pada data logger berbasis SD Card, maka dapat diketahui karakteristik protokol komunikasi SPI antara mikrokontroler dengan SD Card. SD Card diformat dengan tipe FAT 16, dan data di dalam SD Card berupa sekumpulan paket data sensor yang diambil secara periodik dan disimpan dalam bentuk file dengan format.csv. Berdasarkan format paket data sensor yang dibuat, dapat dihitungwaktu perekaman data yang diperlukan agar kapasitas SD Card terisi penuh oleh data sensor. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan,bahwa metoda SPI yang diterapkan pada penelitian ini memiliki sifat akan melakukan pemeriksaan berulang pada pin MISO terhadap command yang dikirimkan oleh mikrokontroler melalui pin MOSI. Proses read/write data pada SD Card data logger memiliki keberhasilan 100%, karena SD Card telah terinisialisasi dalam mode SPI melalui perintah reset dan init SD Card. Komunikasi ini dapat dilakukan dengan menggunakan crystal 4 Mhz – 20 Mhz. Untuk pengujian konfigurasi SPI, hanya Independent Slave Configuration yang dapat digunakan pada komunikasi SPI dengan 2 SD card sebagai slave. Kata kunci: Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI), Data Logger, SD card, FAT16ABSTRACTSerial Peripheral Interface (SPI) is a communication protocol that can be applied as a communication interface between microcontroller to SD Card. By implementing the SPI method to a data logger based on SD Card, it can be known the characteristics of the SPI communications protocol between microcontroller to SD Card. SD Card formatted in FAT 16 type, and data on the SD Card is the form of sensor data packets collection which be captured periodically and saved in .csv format file. Based on the sensor data packet format is created, it can be calculated recording time data required so that the SD Card capacity completely filled by the sensor data. Research results show, that the SPI method applied in this study has the properties will do repeated testing on MISO pin to the command sent by the microcontroller through the MOSI pin. The read / write data on the SD Card data logger has a 100% success, because the SD Card has been initialized in SPI mode through the reset and init SD Card command. This communication can be established using crystal 4 Mhz - 20 Mhz. Abstract:
At present, the error control method for high-speed serial data transmission obtains the errors by comparison and then controls them. If the data transmission channel is not denoised, the packet loss and error codes become serious, and energy consumption increases. The use of fuzzy classification is proposed to control data transmission errors. The method uses the combination of wavelet transform and transform domain difference to double denoise the channel, and it completes the clustering of data transmission errors by fuzzy classification. Considering packet loss, error codes, and energy consumption in data transmission error control, when the communication distance between two nodes is small, automatic repeat request is used to control data transmission errors. As the distance between nodes increases, forward error correction is used to control data transmission errors. When the communication distance gradually increases, data transmission errors are controlled by hybrid automatic repeat request. Experiments showed that the proposed method can reduce the data transmission error, control energy consumption, packet loss rate, and bit error rate, and enhance the denoising effect.

A new transceiving protocol is designed for an FSO communication system, and it’s discussed from the transmitting protocol and the receiving protocol. Different from wired communication, a FSO system modulates the data on a narrow beam of laser transmitting through the free space or the atmosphere, and the protocol is optimized for terrestrial FSO links. Due to the complex composition and activity of the atmosphere, this signal channel brings in great influence on the transmitting laser in it. The function of the receiving protocol includes filtering and synchronizing the input serial data stream, paralleling the serial data stream, decoding the input data, error checking, and exception handling and interfacing the outer receiver with a parallel port. The transceiving protocol could be programmed into a single FPGA chip to improve system integrity and reduce the system cost. We also test the hardware platform and communication protocol and give the waveform. The experiment and Simulation prove that the protocol presented can work well at a certain bit rate scale.

Using free wireless communicating module of ZigBee we realized transmitting data from sensors on the river bank to the data storage center. Based on serial ports of micro-controller a protocol converter circuit was designed. Supplemented by GSM the reliability of data was enhanced.
