This thesis studies the use of the functional reactive programming (FRP) framework reactive-banana in a prototype which simulates a part of a Long-Term Evolution (LTE) base station: the Radio Resource Control connection setup procedure. The investigated problem is to determine whether using this FRP framework leads to an implementation with suitable performance and improved maintainability compared to the current implementation. Enhancing the maintainability of the base station software enables quicker and more efficient maintenance activities, which lead to an improved customer satisfaction.

A simplified computational fluid dynamics and heat transfer (CFD-HT) model of an electronics enclosure was developed. The compact model was based on a server simulator, which dissipates a variable amount of heat at an adjustable air flow rate. A mathematical model for a discrete-time buffer system with both arrival and server interruptions is developed. In this model fixed-size packets arrive at the buffer according to a Poisson distribution and are stored there until they can be transmitted over the output channel. Service times are constant and the buffer is assumed to be of infinite size. Both arrival stream as well as the service of the packets are subjected to random interruptions described by Bernoulli processes, where the interruption process of the Poisson input stream is uncorrelated to the interruptions of the output line.

At the very beginning of the diploma thesis, we introduce the reader to the issues of BI and controlling of manufacturing companies. Subsequently, we perform an analysis and evaluation of the current state of the selected manufacturing company in terms of variations in production. Then we use MSSQL server and SSAS to create a controlling model. The company will be able to unambiguously and quickly identify weaknesses in production and quickly eliminate them. Finally, we evaluate the real benefits of this project for the company.

This thesis describes a process of creating a mobile application using deep convolutional neural networks. The process starts with proposal of the main idea, followed by product and technical design, implementation and evaluation. The thesis also explores the technical background of image recognition, and chooses the most suitable options for the purpose of the application. These are object detection and multi-label classification, which are both implemented, evaluated and compared. The resulting application tries to bring value from both user and technical point of view.
