Full textWeb services are building blocks for modular applications independent of any software or hardware platforms. They implement the service oriented architecture (SOA). Research on Web services mainly focuses on discovery and composition. However, complexity of the Web services space structure and its development must necessarily be taken into account. This cannot be done without using the complex systems science, including the theory of complex networks. In this thesis, we define a set of networks based on Web services composition when Web services are syntactically (WSDL) and semantically (SAWSDL) described. The experimental exploration of these networks can reveal characteristic properties of complex networks (small world property and scale-free distribution). It also shows that these networks have a community structure. This result provides an alternative answer to the problem of Web services classification by domain of interest. Indeed, communities don’t gather Web services with similar functionalities, but Web services that share many interaction relationships. This organization can be used among others, to guide compositions search algorithms. Furthermore, with respect to the classification based on Web services functional similarity for discovery or substitution, we propose a set of network models for syntactic and semantic representations of Web services, reflecting various similarity degrees. The topological analysis of these networks reveals a component structure and internal organization of thecomponents around elementary patterns. This property allows a two-level characterization of the notion of community of similar Web services that highlight the flexibility of this new organizational model. This work opens new perspectives in the issues of service-oriented architecture

Full textThe works on web services management use generally the techniques of information retrieval, data mining and the linguistic analysis. Alternately, we attend the emergence of the probabilistic topic models originally developed and utilized for topics extraction and documents modeling. The contribution of this thesis meets the topics modeling and the web services management. The principal objective of this thesis is to study and propose probabilistic algorithms to model the thematic structure of web services. First, we consider an unsupervised approach to meet different tasks such as web services clustering and discovery. Then we combine the topics modeling with the formal concept analysis to propose a novel method for web services hierarchical clustering. This method allows a novel interactive discovery approach based on the specialization and generalization operators of retrieved results. Finally, we propose a semi-supervised method for automatic web service annotation (automatic tagging). We concretized our proposals by developing an on-line web services search engine called WS-Portal where we incorporate our research works to facilitate web service discovery task. Our WS-Portal contains 7063 providers, 115 sub-classes of category and 22236 web services crawled from the Internet. In WS- Portal, several technologies, i.e., web services clustering, tags recommendation, services rating and monitoring are employed to improve the effectiveness of web services discovery. We also integrate various parameters such as availability and reputation of web services and more generally the quality of service to improve their ranking and therefore the relevance of the search result

Full textIn the field of user studies, very little research has been done on rendering of services in academic libraries. These services need to be examined in depth in order to be able to provide academic library users with more appropriate information services. There is clearly a need to determine what the real needs of academic library users are and how they prefer to look for information. The rapid growth of information technology could have a great influence on service rendering to academic library users.

Event-related collections, including both tweets and webpages, have valuable information. They are worth exploring in interdisciplinary research and education. Unfortunately, such data is noisy. Many tweets and webpages are not relevant to the events. This leads to difficulties during data analysis of the datasets, as well as explanation of the results. Further, for better understanding, more knowledge hidden behind events needs to be unearthed. Regarding these collections, different groups of people may have different requirements. Some may need relatively clean datasets for data exploration. Some require preprocessing of information, so they can conduct analyses, e.g., based on tweeter type or content topic. General societies are interested in the overall descriptions of events. However, few systems, tools, or methods exist to support the flexible use of event-related collections. Accordingly, we describe our new framework and integrated system to process and analyze event-related collections. It provides varied services and covers the most important stages in a system pipeline. It has sub-systems to clean, manage, analyze, integrate, and visualize event-related collections. It takes an event-related tweet collection as input and generates an event-related webpage corpus by leveraging Wikipedia and the URLs embedded in tweets. It also combines and enriches original tweets with webpages. As an application of data management, we conduct an empirical study of tweets and their embedded URLs. We developed TwiRole for 3-way user classification on Twitter. It detects brand-related, female-related, and male-related tweeters through their profiles, tweets, and images. To aid user-centered social research, we combine TwiRole with an existing emotion detection tool, and carry out tweeting pattern analyses on disaster-related collections. Finally, we propose a tweet-guided multi-document summarization (TMDS) model and service, which generates summaries of the event-related collections by using tweets associated with those events. It extracts important sentences across different topics from webpages, and organizes them in proper order. The entire system is realized using many technologies, such as collection development, natural language processing, machine learning, and deep learning. For each part, comprehensive evaluations help confirm the effectiveness and accuracy of our proposed approaches. Regarding broader impact, our methods and system can be easily adopted or extended for further event analyses and service development.
Liu, Yongwen. "Cloud services selection based on rough set theory." Thesis, Troyes, 2016. http://www.theses.fr/2016TROY0018/document.
Full textWith the development of the cloud computing technique, users enjoy various benefits that high technology services bring. However, there are more and more cloud service programs emerging. So it is important for users to choose the right cloud service. For cloud service providers, it is also important to improve the cloud services they provide, in order to get more customers and expand the scale of their cloud services.Rough set theory is a good data processing tool to deal with uncertain information. It can mine the hidden knowledge or rules on data sets. The main purpose of this thesis is to apply rough set theory to help cloud users make decision about cloud services. In this work, firstly, a framework using the rough set theory in cloud service selection is proposed, and we give an example using rough set in cloud services selection to illustrate and analyze the feasibility of our approach. Secondly, the proposed cloud services selection approach has been used to evaluate parameters importance based on the users’ preferences. Finally, we perform experiments on large scale dataset to verity the feasibility of our proposal. The performance results can help cloud service users to make the right decision and help cloud service providers to target the improvement about their cloud services

Full textEach European Union state member performs analysis on certain projects possible impacts on the environment through the instrument of Environmental Impact Assessment. This procedure has been implemented on each member state level, being altered and improved e several occasions, finding itself under constant evolution. The content of that assessment verified in the correspondent documents of the EIA, specifically in the Environmental Impact Statement, appear to be somewhat subjective, being that the description of the affected environmental resources by the project implementation under that procedure is presented with a certain level of abstraction. This work looks forward to present ways to enhance the objectivity and consequently the clearness of those Environmental Impact Assessments, focusing mainly on demonstrate the valuation the environmental resources affected by the Environmental Impact Assessment project, allowing a better comprehension by the stakeholders about the real value of the pre-existent resources in the area of the project. The great problematic directly linked to the resources valuation is centred in the easy monetary value attribution whenever a resources has a market price counter pointing the remaining non-marketed resources. Such approach involves the adoption of a classification system of ecosystem goods and services, particularly in this case the Common International Classification of Ecosystem Services that comprises the environmental resources considered in the Environmental Impact Assessments Finally the application of the Common International Classification of Ecosystem Services approach integrated in the Environmental Impact Assessment is demonstrated and the valuation of the environmental resources is performed through the benefit transfer method serving as example for the potentiality of this procedure

Full textWithin a context of global integration, the issue of geographic concentration of economic activities has gained significant importance in recent years in the strategy literature. In the case of service activities, location is key aspect of corporate competitive advantage. However, geographic clustering is not much explored in the literature, especially in Brazil. Furthermore, the studies are based on classification criteria do not reflect the diversity of the sector as well as interaction with the activities of this industry. Therefore, the objective of this work was to map the location of service activities in Brazil in a systematic way, based on a proposed classification of services, according to the economic process to which they relate. Thus, the main contribution of this work is methodological we propose a model for the classification of settlements according to the categories of pure service, processing and exchange and circulation. We identified a total of 12.201clusters of services: the majority (60%) refers to the rank of pure service, followed by service category and traffic exchange with (27%), with processing and services (13%) . From the perspective of macro-regions, the Southeast has the largest representation, with a total of 5.287 clusters, representing 43% of all settlements. In this region, the three categories of service have significant involvement, in contrast to other regions, which confirms the high degree of development of the region's economic base, which explains the strength of this region, since the higher the composition of sectors, the greater the local economy. In this sense, the main findings of this study explain the economic strength of service activities in the southeast of the country, especially in large urban centers like Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, between the counties that contain a higher concentration of service activities , especially in regard to knowledge intensive activities and financial services.

Full textWith the development of technology and information, there are more and more opportunities and challenges for healthcare and assistance services for disabled people as well as the elderly. In this context, this PhD work proposes and demonstrates a new solution for home monitoring. Our approach is based on the idea that existing home automation and multimedia services provide some relevant information to be used as available sensors for remote monitoring. Through the analysis of user habits, our work includes two steps. In the first step, we automate a scenario identification, based on a combination of data mining, AI, graph theory and operational research algorithms to offer scenarios self adapting to user capabilities, while facilitating user access to the services. In the second step, this sensor information is used for alert management based on the anomaly detection, meaning a deviation of usual habits. These two steps provide a low level and non-intrusive personal monitoring while giving people more autonomy and confidence in their environments. A simulation model is developed in a first stage for the generation of user database without waiting for months monitoring user activities. This simulation data allows us to develop, tune and evaluate different aspects of our approach, before being applied in a real context. Then an experimentation through the IR recording is realized to monitor the user activities. The results of these real data allow us to evaluate the performance as well as the efficiency of our solution

It is a short and clear summary of the most important findings, which were gained during the project at the University of Applied Sciences Dresden (HTWD) on research data management (FDM). With this handbook, the authors would like to support other Universities of Applied Sciences (HAW) in developing strategies and the necessary FDM structure. It is therefore primarily aimed at people who are involved in the strategic development of research at universities and who may ask themselves the question of which supporting FDM services and measures should be taken to ensure that the researchers of their own institution are able to meet the increasing demand for open and sustainable working methods in dealing with research data.
