Abstract:

The author uses the results of own sociological survey of408 elderly respondents receiving social services in the social service institutions for the elderly. The importance of the services related to maintaining healthy and socially active longevity, organization of life and leisure, constructive interaction with relatives, for successful socialization of elderly people is shown. It is established that the most intensive socialization occurs in the process of providing social and socio-medical services. The dominant setting of elderly people is preservation of health; at the same time, it is the state of health that mostly determines the success of socialization of the elderly. For their active and healthy longevity elderly people prefer primarily cultural, educational, sports activities. However, many rely on the support of social service organizations.

Abstract:
Social networks can shape many aspects of social and economic activity: migration and trade, job-seeking, innovation, consumer preferences and sentiment, public health, social mobility, and more. In turn, social networks themselves are associated with geographic proximity, historical ties, political boundaries, and other factors. Traditionally, the unavailability of large-scale and representative data on social connectedness between individuals or geographic regions has posed a challenge for empirical research on social networks. More recently, a body of such research has begun to emerge using data on social connectedness from online social networking services such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. To date, most of these research projects have been built on anonymized administrative microdata from Facebook, typically by working with coauthor teams that include Facebook employees. However, there is an inherent limit to the number of researchers that will be able to work with social network data through such collaborations. In this paper, we therefore introduce a new measure of social connectedness at the US county level. Our Social Connectedness Index is based on friendship links on Facebook, the global online social networking service. Specifically, the Social Connectedness Index corresponds to the relative frequency of Facebook friendship links between every county-pair in the United States, and between every US county and every foreign country. Given Facebook’s scale as well as the relative representativeness of Facebook’s user body, these data provide the first comprehensive measure of friendship networks at a national level.

Abstract:
Purpose – The paper aims to explore the effects of geographic proximity among firms in value networks on service provision and service exchange. Design/methodology/approach – A case study of the offshore supply vessel shipbuilding and shipping cluster in the North-Western Møre region of Norway with focus on the new ship contracting process. Findings – The case study reveals how service provision and service exchange are facilitated by geographical proximity among firms. Research limitations/implications – Study findings should be validated in further research, and the effects of other forms of proximity (cultural, social, cognitive and institutional) on co-creation of value also need to be considered. Considering the role of operant resources in developing competence in clusters and wider value networks offers interesting opportunities for further research. Originality/value – This study proposes an alternative view of co-creation of value in value networks and responds to calls for research on how value network attributes affect aspects of co-creation of value: service provision and service exchange. The study contributes to more knowledge on the systemic nature of value creation in value networks.

Abstract:
Identification of the prospects for the social entrepreneurship expansion as one of the aspects of green economy uses the example of St. Petersburg. We use a statistical method for processing nominal data with the aid of SPSS. The study revealed that social-oriented not-for-profit organizations and government social agencies work with the same social groups and offer similar services. Therefore, to increase the competitiveness of not-for-profit organizations, these organizations should provide services at a high client-oriented level. We found that because of the lack of permanent sources of funding, the problem of fundraising exists. The results of the current study are applicable for improvement of commercial and social practices of social-oriented not-for-profit organizations, in the expansion of services for the additional professional education of such organizations’ personnel, in the development of practices in fundraising and crowdsourcing, in improving applications for grant support from the state, in the diversification of services. We revealed that social-oriented not-for-profit organizations and state social agencies work with the same social groups and offer similar services; we found that the problem of fundraising becomes a priority for this organizations; personnel in these organizations has different education; the representatives of not- for-profit organizations understand the purposes of social entrepreneurship.

Abstract:
This PHD thesis analyses the personal care aid, especially as developed in non-profit organizations. The aim of the first part is to build the research object. The first chapter recounts the slow development of personal care aid as an activity sector. The second chapter shows the difficult conditions of` care work. The third chapter analyses why the law to develop home care services, changed the whole sector of personal care aid. The second part develops some "conceptual tools" to enlighten the problems shown in the first part. In chapter 4, three types of relationships that exist in this sector are conceptualized-like a triangle: the service relationship, the employment relationship, and the work p relationship. The relationships that appear in this triangle in the context of non-profitmaking organizations are analyzed in chapter 5, considering that they are part of` a system. The goal of the third part is to analyze the stakes and the development of the sector of` non-profitmaking organizations, taking into account the three identified relationships. The chapter 6 shows why the work and employment relationships are inseparable. The chapter 7 analyzes how specific the work and service relationships are in the non-profit organizations in the field of personal aid care. In a moving context, chapter 8 deals with the necessary balance between the different relationships

Abstract:

Abstract:
This research is focused on a population of female workers who provide homecare for the elderly in a small wealthy town of the Paris area. We analyse their orientation to work, but we are also able to capture the structure of social relations at work, both in terms of class and ethnic relations. This research is mainly based on a field work but it also involves a quantitative survey and a socio-historical investigation. By combining with great precision social assets and occupational assets, it reveals the existence of two distinct occupational and social groups in the population of homecarers : white females from "respectable working class", and lower class females, either white born on the soil or immigrants from Africa or the West lndies with sorne education but deprived of family connexions in continental France

Abstract:
My thesis tests the existence of a unique sectorial-based regulation for lifestyle and domiciliary care services as it was institutionally delimited and thought by the French Plan Borloo (2005). I defend the idea that the Plan Borloo has not generated a unified sector configuration (as defined by sectorial-based regulation approaches). The Plan Borloo has introduced institutional arrangements that aim to constructing a market for lifestyle and home care services. Theses arrangements are mobilised both by new players and by historical suppliers but non-homogenously and differently than expected by the Plan. The consequence is a double crisis (crisis of the new player “brand names” and crisis of the historical third sector actors) that my conclusion explains

Abstract:
In view of the apparent effacement of the handicraft economic part, the perennial substratum of its sociocultural function, that is to say the proximity communication, defines its new vocation. Consequently, regarding the handicraft sector, there is future only in the relational service brought to the national organisation. Because, as the evolution of the contemporary society is accompanied by an environmental emptiness the handicraft is able to fill up, it is this need of proximity communication the handicraft sector should satisfy. As a matter of fact, the extra satisfaction thus offered to the public makes the real added value of the handicraft, the one which creates for the market the real value of the handicraft sector

Abstract:
This Ph. D. Thesis in economics deals with neighborhood services, and especially with home help services to elderly people. This highly growing sector of the economy is poorly discussed, in particular on its theoretical level. E. G. , There is no theoretical study on the variety of the development models of these services. The present research aims at understanding the basic principles of the various economic logics of these services, and at applying their dynamics. Our central approach consists in thinking this diversity in terms of plurality of "worlds" (or of productive modes) and of service markets. In the first part, we attempt to sort out the complexity of this market through analyzing how these services are practically resorted to (demand genesis) and the related professional practices (supply). In the second part, we propose a theoretical framework to understand and analyze this diversity and its connections to uncertainty. This framework was worked out in reference to the theory of conventions, through its mode of identifying productive models and to an original approach to mandates. This is a dynamic model : it takes into account the developments in environment as well as in home help services to elderly people. Neighborhood services can also be classified according to five productive models divided up into two spheres : first, the formal sphere made of four models, depending on whether mandate is easy or difficult to describe and on whether it is a simple or complex activity ; and the domestic sphere including one model. In the third part, we questions the market development of these services and differentiate three forms of markets. In this part, we go through the idea that the components of this development (solvency process and reduction of uncertainties) vary according to productive models and markets

The setting of universities in working-class districts (fives in lille and central roubaix) reveals itself as an opportunity to renew the city analysis and to have a better understanding of the change in traditional industrial cities. The study shows that the interfering of public authorities aims at promoting the university as a partner liable to solve the crisis in traditional districts : the university is thus expected to work as an economic and social agent giving a new proficiency to the district. Neverthelless , the work shows the existence of a discrepancy between the political will of institutional performers and strategies and the image of the university and district performers. Abstract:

Full text
Abstract:
This thesis is about initiatives in the field of the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) that put forward proximity-based organizations departing from the dominant paradigm, and especially from the predominant neoliberal ideology. They are born from the concerns of the civil society and result in the creation of local answers to problems arising from the multidimensional crisis that encompasses social, political, economic and environmental issues. The proliferation of these alternative economic experimentations could be an opportunity for the emergence of more diverse ways to devise and govern the economy. However, when they build local production networks, these initiatives encounter isomorphic influences from the prevailing institutional system that seem to hinder their development and push them toward normalization. This can jeopardize their power to transform the society and the economy on a bigger scale. This research provides an explanation of this phenomenon through a meso-economic analysis of the interrelations within the SSE and with the public and lucrative sectors. The purpose is to explain the logic of local coordination that favours the efficiency of these alternatives and of those who result in the resilience of the neoliberal system that they criticize. The thesis is divided into three parts; an historical one that gives perspective on the present issues, a theoretical one that adopts a heterodox and institutional standpoint in order to provide analytical tools that are specifically suited to the chosen subject. The economy of proximity is the main scientific discipline that was selected, with intakes from the economy of convention. Lastly, an empirical part, based on a multidisciplinary approach presents the geographical, institutional and organizational proximity relations of four local SSE networks in the area of Grenoble-Alpes-Métropole and an assessment of their impact ; a territorial pole of economic cooperation (PTCE), a local network of the ethical bank La Nef, a network of urban community-based gardens and a network of local currency and community exchange systems

Abstract:

Abstract:
The influence of social media on the various facets of society has attracted a lot of attention of the researchers in the last few years who are probing its multifaceted impact. One important aspect of social media is its role in promoting instant gratification. It has far reaching consequences for evolution of self, which in turn has important implications for society and businesses. Drawing from the conceptual foundations of the theories of identity and social comparison, the researchers tried to develop a model as to how the dual role of social media acts to alter the identity and hence behavior. In this context, the significance of the study lies in exposing the intricate interplay between the attributes of social media and the dynamic self. The study goes a long way in providing a deeper understanding of self-concept in connection to social media, which has immense importance for consumer behavior and can help businesses to fine-tune their strategies with the changing consumer psychology.

Abstract:
In a short few years, social media has become the dominant way in which we communicate with the outside world. It has become prevalent in almost every aspect of our daily lives, but one of the most significant changes social media has had, has been on the way we watch television. This phenomenon, known as dual screening, has caused some concern amongst marketers and advertisers, who believed that this behaviour was having an overall negative impact on consumer engagement with television. This chapter attempts to address some of these concerns by providing evidence obtained from the neurosciences and from a case study. The evidence we present in this chapter demonstrates the opposite effect, whereby social media can actually be used to enhance viewer engagement.

Abstract:
In order to address the research challenges related to spreading, prevention, and treatment of HIV/AIDS it is necessary to look at it from different angles. Considering a single aspect on established initiatives, such as technological or political concerns that have been adopted in research, leaves a “none complete and integrated picture” on challenges related to the provision of services for combating HIV/AIDS. This chapter addresses this aspect by considering a multi-perspective approach and proposes a set of challenges for each perspective. It also considers the technological perspective of provision of HIV/AIDS advisory services and presents challenges towards designing the proposed system.

Abstract:
This chapter explores how academic libraries have used social media for broadcasting information, responsive communication, and engagement. Many libraries focus on the marketing aspect of social media, since it is a successful method of promoting events, services, and resources. However, exclusively using social media as a marketing tool ignores the best part of social media: the connections it fosters between people. The online community is just an extension of the in-person community that the academic library serves. This chapter examines the state of the literature on libraries' use of social media through the lens of increasing engagement and connections with the community as the key to successful social media.

Abstract:
This chapter revises the most important aspects in how computing infrastructures should be configured and intelligently managed to fulfill the most notably security aspects required by Big Data applications. One of them is privacy. It is a pertinent aspect to be addressed because users share more and more personal data and content through their devices and computers to social networks and public clouds. So, a secure framework to social networks is a very hot topic research. This last topic is addressed in one of the two sections of the current chapter with case studies. In addition, the traditional mechanisms to support security such as firewalls and demilitarized zones are not suitable to be applied in computing systems to support Big Data. SDN is an emergent management solution that could become a convenient mechanism to implement security in Big Data systems, as we show through a second case study at the end of the chapter. This also discusses current relevant work and identifies open issues.

Abstract:
The spirit of Social Media is in community building, and they have enriched the practice of Knowledge Management in very exciting ways. CoPs and Forums are ideal platforms to share experiences and lessons learnt. Communities are extremely valuable because of their informal, just-in-time, increasingly real-time advantage and cannot be replaced by structured KM platforms. It is this aspect of communities, that new Social Media enhances, in spirit as well as in tools support. Social Media provides multiple user-friendly tools to make it easy to share experiences and Lessons Learnt as they happen, as well as in a curated form. Best practices developed by this author and other practitioners are presented, so that other communities can benefit from them. Cases and anecdotes from organizations across industry sectors enliven the discussions. Emerging trends and innovative use of Social Media, are introduced as benchmarks.

Abstract:
The evolution of the big data and new techniques related to the processing and analysis of large databases is revolutionizing the management of companies in the age of the Internet of Things (IoT). In this chapter, we examine the possibilities of big data to improve the services offered by companies and the customer experience and increase the efficiency of these companies. Companies must accept the challenge of self-assessment and measure the barriers that threaten to prevent them from reaching to get the maximum potential derived from big data and analytics. The combination of big data and computational business intelligence will change completely processes, logistics and distribution strategies, the choice of marketing channels and any aspect of the production and marketing of products and services. A case of GE is presented to showcase the use of the IoT and big data. All companies, regardless of size or sector, will improve their business operations due to big data generated from the social media and IoT applications and its use in computational business intelligence.

Abstract:
Know your customer is a core element of any customer relationship management system for mass service organizations. The emergence of social networking services has provided a radically new dimension, creating a more personalized, deeper, ubiquitous and almost real time relation with customers. At the same time, some of the more widespread social network platforms seem to be evolving not only as social networks between individuals but also as mass information distribution media. When knowing your customer through social networking services, it may be of interest to disambiguate which part of the customer context in the network relates to his peers from other sources. In this paper we present an algorithmic approach to disambiguate one aspect of such relation, as expressed in the nature of the contacts established in the social network: with peers or with organizations, news media or influencers. We focus in the case of Twitter where a simple supervised linear regression can provide a ranking score, effectively discriminating and ordering by closeness peer and other types of contacts (mass media or influencers). Such discrimination can serve as a preliminary step for deeper analysis or privacy protection of customer interaction and is suitable for implementation in automated Big Data systems.

Abstract:
In the first part of the paper are analyzed different views of the rule of law: liberaldemocratic, then positivistic view and, finally, defining of the rule of law as the rule of positive-law order of particular properities. In addition to these the three theoretic orientations, one more classification was pointed out - formal and materaialistic aspect of the rule of law. Besides, the principles and institutions of the rule of law were analyzed: legitimacy of power, division of power, independent judiciary, legitimacy expressed in terms of the ideas of constitution and lawfulness, constitutional guarantees of human and civil rights, existence of free economy and economic activities. The subject of the second part of this paper are services. Nowadays, services are the motor of economic growth and include, especially in developed countries of EU, more then 70% of EDP, employees, new economic subjects, and service activities also make up over 70% of all the activities. The service sector includes different, heterogenic services the number of which is getting higher and higher. The service activities are numerous and performed in various sectors such as trading, communications, financing, government administration, health department, social welfare, media, education, tourism, catering, sport and others. We are all witness to the constant growth of service sector in view of continuous broadening of the range of services and the influence upon the economic development of the state. Law regulations of the services in the Republic of Serbia were analized as well as its harmonization with the law regulations at the level of EU and the need for its further upgrading and improvement.

Abstract:
Goal 11 of the Sustainable Development Goals has the seventh target of its Sustainable Cities and Communities focused on providing access to safe and inclusive green and public spaces. Principles of sustainable development necessitate that a balance is struck between environment and development to ensure healthy urban living. It has long been established that the presence of natural areas and planned open green spaces in and around urban settlements contributes to a quality of life by providing important ecological, social and psychological benefits to humans. In India, rapid urbanisation is resulting in significant land being used for developmental activities resulting in decline in open spaces across cities. It needs to be noted, the case in Chandigarh, India is different from rest of the country, where open spaces are considered as inviolable land use. Being a rare exception amongst the cities established immediately after India’s Independence, urban greens were visualized and planned as an integral component in the city’s Master Plan. Le Corbusier conceived the master plan of Chandigarh as analogous to human body, where green spaces symbolized the lungs. The greens in Chandigarh were created as functional, organized and natural spaces for integration and convergence of mind and body, that is the city as well as of its population. The research delves into the aspect of inclusivity of its various green spaces based on the social survey of the city’s residents. The intent is to determine the usability and accessibility of the greens by the residents for various recreational, cultural and ecosystem services. The measures of inclusivity of the green spaces are defined to address the key question being researched upon, that is if green spaces have contributed to Chandigarh being a healthy city. Built upon the social survey tools, the authors discern the typologies of green spaces as the measure for building a healthy city contextualized for Chandigarh.

Abstract:
It is no coincidence that the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities is the first international human rights treaty in the 21st century. The Convention seeks to amend the social and legal status of persons with disabilities, including children, in a revolutionary way. The main goal is to remove social barriers by adopting a social model of disability in recognizing and exercising the human rights of persons with disabilities on an equal basis with other persons. Therefore, it is understandable that the rules of earlier international human rights treaties, such as the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child or the European Convention on Human Rights, are beginning to be directly adjusted to the this Convention. From the aspect of recognition and exercising of the rights of children with disabilities, the issue of accessibility to health care services is especially important. It insists on the application of the principles of reasonable accommodation, accessibility and non-discrimination so that children with disabilities have access to health care facilities on an equal basis with other children. This implies significant involvement of the state, local community and family in order to remove social and infrastructural barriers. Furthermore, the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities calls for an absolute ban on the forced detention and placement of children in health care facilities, while there is a very negative attitude towards the care of children with disabilities in social protection institutions. In this regard, an amendment to the domestic Law on the Protection of Persons with Mental Disabilities is required. According to the social model of disability, the family environment with the appropriate and effective support of the local community is a necessary environment for the realization of the rights of children with disabilities. When it comes to the consent of a child with a disability to a medical treatment, it is necessary to determine the child's capability to form views, as in the case of other children. In that sense, the mentioned child should be provided with appropriate assistance and support to express his / her views. This support consists primarily in the way in which the child is informed about the proposed medical treatment.

Abstract:
We are witnesses and participants of Copernican changes in the world which result in major crises/challenges (economic, political, social, climate, demographic, migratory, MORAL) that significantly change “normal” circumstances. The law, as a large regulatory system, must find answers to these challenges. Primarily, these circumstances relate to (i) the pandemic - Corona 19, which requires ensuring economic development with a significant encroachment on human freedoms and rights; (ii) globalization, which fundamentally changes the concept of liberal capitalism as the most efficient system of production of goods and services and democracy as a desirable form of government; (iii) automation, robotics, artificial intelligence, and big data are changing the ways we work, live, communicate, and learn in a Copernican manner. The law should serve to shape the relationship between people in order to realize a life of love and freedom. This is done to the greatest extent through the constitutional engineering of selected institutions. The legal system focuses on institutions that have a raison d'etre in their mission, which is read as “ratio legis”, as a desirable normative and real action in the range of causal and teleological aspect. Crisis situations narrow social cohesion and weaken trust in institutions. It is imperative to seek constitutional engineering that finds a way out in autopoietic institutions in allopoietic environment. We believe that the most current definition of law is that = law is the negation of the negation of morality. It follows that morality is the most important category of social development. Legitimacy, and then legality, relies on morality. In other words, the rules of conduct must be highly correlated with morality - legitimacy - legality. What is legal follows the rules, what is lawful follows the moral substance and ethical permissibility. Therefore, only a fair and intelligent mastery of a highly professional and ethical teleological interpretation of law is a conditio sine qua non for overcoming current anomalies of social development. The juridical code of legal and illegal is a transformation of moral, legitimate and legal into YES, and immoral, illegitimate and illegal into NO. The future of education aims to generate a program for global action and a discussion on learning and knowledge for the future of humanity and the planet in a world of increasing complexity, uncertainty and insecurity.
