Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to develop a framework that will provide the services marketing manager a systematic, holistic and transparent means of enhancing sustainability performance through the marketing function. We review the literature dealing with the confluence of services marketing and sustainability, identify gaps in current sustainability-services marketing literature and inductively develop a conceptual framework for Sustainability Services Marketing (SSM). We describe services marketing practice examples in order to uncover the implications of a sustainability focus for services marketing and illustrate how to operationalise the framework. The resulting framework, (i) ensures that sustainability is incorporated into the strategic services marketing planning process, (ii) adapts and expands the traditional concept of the services marketing mix, by adding Partnerships to the traditional mix elements, and (iii) cross-references services marketing mix decision-making with the triple bottom line to describe the marketing task in terms of a matrix rather than a mix. This permits sustainability benchmarking and planning across the triple bottom line, and across the range of activities the services marketing manager might be expected to manage in order to enhance sustainability performance. We shift services marketing management attention to a broader and more sustainability-responsible whole-of-business approach. This research provides timely and effective guidance for the services marketing manager seeking to enhance his or her business’s sustainability performance in a systematic, holistic, and transparent way.

Abstract:
Zakat institutions make a variety of new innovations and accelerations in terms of management strategies to improve zakat management. Getting support from Government Regulations and DSN MUI Fatwa regarding the use of IT is certainly a motivation for zakat institutions to increasingly actively develop technology-based services. IT is one of the main focuses of the marketing strategy to increase muzaki's interest in distributing zakat through online zakat services. But in the middle of the community it seems that the presence of digital zakat services still requires a long process of obtaining 'postioning'. In addition, the use of technology must also be more careful, especially because of the negative impact it has. Sharia marketing mix offers strategy management based on sharia principles which in its development is dominated by contemporary fiqh studies. The research aims to provide a literature review on the collaboration of sharia marketing mix and digital marketing zakat. An interesting study considering there are still few studies that reveal a combination of both. Sharia marketing mix present offers management strategies that conventional marketing mix lacks. The results of the literature review state that sharia marketing mix has a special advantage in filtering the negative impact of the use of technology compared to the marketing mix which has been widely used by companies, financial institutions and non-banks.

This study examines the strategies implemented for education marketing services in Islamic education institutions. This research is motivated by the efforts to develop the quality of Islamic education institutions, so that they could compete with other organizations. Education marketing services are intended to create a conducive and stable marketing condition, so as to have a positive impact on the parties involved in the marketing process (both the school as the producer and the community as consumers). Based on the results of the study, which was conducted at the Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) 1 Yogyakarta, it was found that Islamic education institutions also implement various strategies in marketing their educational services. The marketing strategy in MAN 1 Yogyakarta is carried out through the application of marketing mix theory (products, prices, places, promotions, human resources, physical evidence, and processes) by utilizing its superior competences as an Islamic educational institution that tends to have moderate ideology, so it can target Muslim communities both from traditional and modern backgrounds as the marketing segment of their educational services.

The study of digital marketing responds to technology changes as part of the digital economy. However, there is little scientific research of this subject in Mexican SMEs. This exploratory research aims to support the Mexican context knowledge through the observation to websites of SMEs with digital trust seal. The digital resources used as part of the marketing mix that can be observed externally in the websites were analyzed. The results showed that the most used resources were social networks, e-mail, those related to navigation ease and the variety of payment options. Nevertheless, other digital resources were underutilized. It was observed, in the SMEs studied, little attention in offering additional benefits and services to the product and low use of resources related to customer service. Despite showing a high interest in social networks, a quarter of the firms with a Facebook page did not give maintenance to it. It is concluded that Mexican SMEs are still at a basic stage in the use of digital resources in the marketing mix and that the marketing mix model is useful to observe the digital resources, but that some resources may belong to more than one element of the mix.

Abstract:
The purpose of this paper is to explore and discuss the determinants that inhibit mobile banking adoption by the rural unbanked in Zimbabwe. The researchers conducted an extensive literature search. The references consulted were categorically analysed and articles were considered to compile the findings of this paper. The study provides a contribution to practice by providing a better understanding of issues associated with mobile banking diffusion mechanisms that aid the adoption of mobile banking systems. The main findings of the research indicate that there is a slow and often annoying adoption of mobile banking within Zimbabwe by the rural unbanked due to a considerable number of inhibitive factors. This research reveals the nature of adoption that may reliably inform service providers about strategies to consider when appealing to this market segment. The study also shows that mobile banking adoption cannot ignore the use of marketing oriented factors in order to avoid the assumption of being myopic by considering only the product based variables to assess behavioural intention to adopt mobile banking services as identified in Technology Acceptance Model. However, the literature review also reveals that there are virtually no substantive theoretical researches which adequately extend the TAM using all the marketing mix elements. Therefore Technology Acceptance Model is extended using the marketing mix elements to better predict the behavioural intention to adopt mobile banking by the rural unbanked. This research, having studied the behaviour of the rural unbanked, argues that mobile banking service providers are likely to develop tailor-made integrated marketing mix strategies in order to financially include this market segment. The paper recommends for future research to use the additional marketing mix elements of physical evidence, processes and people in the adoption of mobile banking services by the rural unbanked.

Abstract:
Convenience stores are part of the Canadian and American landscape. Consumers depend on them for fuel, coffee, tobacco, snacks, fast-food, bathrooms, and more. Convenience stores account for more than one third of the retail brick-and-mortar sales. Yet, there is a paucity of marketing research on this retail format. The present study examines the marketing strategies of convenience stores in 2008 and 2018, assessing the changes in strategy over a decade in the U.S. and Canada. The findings indicate that convenience stores in both regions have been able to offer products and services that will bring about repeat sales and increase their profitability. Convenience stores offer customers time saving while providing what they value most: fast service, expedient locations, quality customer service and an adapted marketing mix. Although there were more similarities than differences in marketing strategies in both regions, Quebec convenience stores were the most effective in implementing their marketing mix and adapting their strategy. Implications for convenience stores are discussed.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to explore how services might impact a general consumer sense of everyday well-being or life satisfaction. Design/methodology/approach It was decided to focus on the existential benefits of refurbishing services and see how they might impact owner sense of self and overall life satisfaction. A qualitative study was fielded which consisted of analyses of website testimonials of customers of refurbishing services for products such as pianos, watches, boats, bicycles and other durables. Also analyzed were results from one-on-one qualitative interviews of customers of refurbishing services and selected refurbishers of similar products. Findings The study suggests that refurbish services provide a mix of hedonic and eudaimonic benefits. They provide an enhanced sense of self and general well-being insofar, as the newly restored item connects owners to loved ones, to other collectors or fans and to their own personal life histories. It also connects them to the refurbishers and their “magic”. Insofar as refurbishers invite customer involvement in the process, they co-create how the process will proceed, so customers feel a special involvement and gain an understanding of the workings of the item and how to best use it. Practical implications Refurbishing services might offer, like all the new internet-mediated sharing services, a more sustainable alternative to the buy-and-dispose consumption behaviors found in most world economies. Originality value This paper provides insights into the lives of products after purchase and the roles of relevant service providers. It also provides examples of how service providers in general might deepen and facilitate customers’ feelings about themselves and their daily lives. It shows how service providers can enhance customer hedonic and eudaimonic appreciation of provider knowledge, skills and efforts.
