Abstract:
The loss of functionality and the development of distress in concrete pavements is often attributable to the poor subbase and subgrade conditions and/or loss of support due to the development of the voids underneath the slab. Subgrade soil stabilization can be used as an effective approach to restore the functionality of the subgrades in patching projects. This research had two main objectives: (1) identifying the best practices for soil stabilization of the existing subgrade during pavement patching operations and (2) identifying and developing new, modified grouting materials for slab stabil

Abstract:
The objective of this program was to install strain gage instrumentation on the PSF flow loop for use in future research and development programs. The strain gages were placed at critical locations on the flow loop to provide the opportunity for future measurement of pipeline strains during passage of in-line inspection tools, pipeline movement operations, pipe settlement, and general operations. As a demonstration of the data collection system, strain data were collected during passage of an in-line inspection tool.

Abstract:
In Australia repurchase (repo) obligations are traded bilaterally 'over-the-counter' between parties, rather than on an exchange. As a result, it is difficult to obtain quotes of executable prices, trading volumes, and related data that are representative of the market. Market conditions are therefore not easy to assess and often dependent on anecdotal evidence. Over the years, the Reserve Bank of Australia has published data and analysis of the repo market by providing indirect perspectives using data from its own open market operations that are conducted using repos. Abstract:
This work provides an institutional, legal and policy review of crucial aspects of land records modernisation systems in Himachal Pradesh. A state characterised by hilly terrain, high forest cover and low urbanisation, Himachal Pradesh provides useful lessons to understand the robustness and diversity of land record administration systems. The property regimes that have historically developed in the state include customary rights, common property resources, jointly held rights, and multiple other use and possession arrangements. There is a restriction on who can transact properties in the stat

With the growing emphasis on extending the useful operation of existing pipelines and reducing the operating costs, the pipeline industry is sensitive to keeping pipelines in service and having a rational basis for doing so. When pipelines undergo fault displacement, mining subsidence, thaw settlement, or landslide induced soil loading, monitoring of pipeline strains and/or displacements must protect their integrity. Currently, there is little information available to indicate when remedial action is necessary for such a pipeline. This report focuses on assisting pipe-monitoring programs by pr

Abstract:
Between 1985 and 2006, a total of 96 central banks implemented Real-time Gross Settlement (RTGS) systems. The adoption of this technology was driven to reduce risks inherent in the then-predominant Deferred Net Settlement (DNS) systems. However, because RTGS systems consume large amounts of liquidity when each payment is settled individually, many RTGS systems (e.g., CHAPS and Target2) implemented Liquidity-Saving Mechanisms (LSMs) of varying complexity, with most deploying variations of the algorithm presented by Morten Bech and Kimmo Soramäki (the co-author) in 2001. Many of these systems ar

Abstract:
This report presents the grid-based Nordic urban–rural typology, which was developed as a new analytical tool for studying different types of spatial phenomena across Nordic territories. In this study this meant developing a typology that classifies all Nordic territories into seven different typology classes based on different degrees of urbanity and rurality. A key starting point for this work was the need for a territorial typology that would help enrich and provide new understanding of different types of urban and rural areas across the Nordic countries and shed light on how they are devel
