As the oil price is relative high, oil companies continue their quest for oil in new areas where it was supposed impossible earlier. 25 % of the world petroleum reserves are assumed to be in Arctic areas. In these areas ice contribute to significant engineering challenges. Ice conditions, emergency response, winterization and extreme low temperatures are some of the challenges that have to be address for design and operation purpose. Ice is an interesting material for an engineer. The knowledge of ice mechanics and physics is essential for understanding how ice forces are developed and acts. The agreement in estimating of forces and development of ice loads have been over time been evaluated for the writing of new structural code. Structural layout proofs to be a significant factor in how ice is managed and therefore in reducing ice actions. However studies have showed that prediction of ice actions is hard to establish and therefore it is difficult to establish proper loading cases. For designing a FPSO in the arctic waters, the classification criteria for floating units need to be complied with. The DNV rules for offshore structure refer to the class rules for ship with additional ice strengthening class. The ISO (International Organization for Standardization) the world's largest developer and publisher of International Standards have issued a draft for a design code for Arctic offshore structures. These two rules and codes have been compared in connection with local structural arrangement. For arctic structures, two design checks ELIE and ALIE are required. These design checks are less established. ELIE ice checks have a return period of one hundred year (10-2) and ALIE one thousand year (10-4). The SEVAN-FPU ice is designed for handling level ice up to 3 m according the DNV Polar 30 Class Notation. Structures are according to the codes required to withstand the ice actions from ELIE within the elastic region. ALIE action will involve plastic damage, but the requirement is to maintain structural integrity to survive a ULIE check. The master thesis purpose is to determine ELIE and ALIE. The ELIE and ALIE are clearly depended on local field data which makes it a challenge in estimations. The ELIE design load for the Sevan FPU-ice is based on a pressure-area equation for massive ice feature. The pressure-area equation is based on empirical data measurement from several field programs. The load area for a plate design is assumed to be the whole plate area, while for the stiffener design 80% of the plate height times four stiffener spacing. The ELIE pressure is respectively 5.11 MPa and 2.37 MPa. For arctic structures, iceberg is the governing factor for ALIE. Designing for an impact of a large iceberg in 100 or 10 000 years storm may be impossible due to the massive energy involved. Sevan FPU-ice is designed with possibility of disconnecting. This may reduced the ALIE load, however the possibility of failure in disconnecting should be included in ALIE. In estimation of iceberg impact, kinetic energy is the load applied for calculations. Structural resistance for impact is measured in energy dissipated in strain before fracture. The plastic strain gives the dominating dissipated energy and elastic strain is in a small magnitude. By equating kinetic energy applied and strain energy dissipated before fracture can be seen as what the structure can withstand. ABAQUS standard has been applied for analyzing different structural layout with the intentional structural layout for SEVAN- FPU-ice as a basis. A non linear finite element analysis is preformed to investigate structural capacity and the energy dissipated in plastic strain in order to check for ELIE and ALIE. The model has been created using the ABAQUS CAE. The ELIE design loads for plate and stiffener design are applied for the ABAQUS for the intentional structural layout. Both plate and stiffener design check was applied in the elastic region. Six different models were made with different stiffener profile. Plate and stiffener spacing were hold constant with the structural layout given from Sevan. For finding the ultimate strength of the, a plate patch load was applied with three different load intensity. The load intensity was found in the using the same pressure area curve as for the ELIE design load. The loads were scaled up to an assumed strain level beyond critical strain. The result showed that a T-bar stiffener withstands the pressure loads significant better. The results from the analysis should be handled with care. In particular the boundary conditions should be evaluated further. The results should be verified by more extensive use of finite element programs.

Platform-ship collisions are fortunately rare events, but as the development of the offshore and oil industry and the gradually frequently used offloading operation, accidents become more and more frequent. The consequences of collisions are always severe, which includes loss of life, property and environmental damage. Thus It is important to predict the outcome of collision scenarios and assess the damage that may happen to the platform as well as the shuttle tanker.Collisions are always analyzed by means of the principle of the principle of energy conservation. Initial kinetic energy is dissipated by the two contact bodies as strain energy and in viscous force generation. There is also energy remained as the kinetic energy after the impact for both the striking and struck bodies, both for translational and rotational degrees of freedom. The external mechanics of the collision is easily evaluated, but the strain energy absorption can be rather difficult to evaluate in a correct way.In this thesis, A Samsung shuttle tanker and the Sevan SSP300 platform are analyzed as the striking and struck bodies, respectively. Structural configurations are described for both structures. Different impact scenarios are then discussed in the report, some of which are chosen to analyze in the thesis work. Non Linear Finite Element Analysis (NLFEA) model of the SSP300 platform is created. The shuttle tanker model is an exist one. One-sixth of the platform is modeled in detail with the correct stiffeners and other details, while for the other part, only the outer shell and the main bulkheads are modeled. For the tanker, adjustments are made in order to increase the calculation efficiency. Only the bow is remained in details. For the hull, only the outer shell is remained. For both structural models, adjustments are made to obtain the correct mass, added mass and inertial. Both models have a user defined material with the fracture criterion included. Integrated analysis is mainly performed. Then the integrated analysis is split into internal mechanics and external mechanics. Among these, integrated analysis and internal mechanics analysis are performed with finite element method, using the explicit NLFEA solver LS-DYNA. For the collision scenarios, only bow impact with different headings is considered. Two different impact velocities are chosen in both head on collision and collision with the glancing angle of 30 degrees. Energy absorption and force-displacement relationship can be obtained. Damage on the platform is also evaluated. Internal mechanics are then analyzed by changing the boundary condition and making the impact velocity constant. The purpose is to evaluate the damage with internal mechanics and then compare it with the results from integrated analysis. Liu’s method, which is based on Stronge theory, is mainly used in external mechanics as a simplified method. Herein a Matlab program is established to calculate the energy dissipation and the velocity after the impact. Two other simplified methods are utilized to calculate the dissipated energy and then compare them with the results from NLFEA analysis. One is from the DNV-RP-C204 and the other one is from T.de Jonge&L.laukeland’s report. The latter one is an optimized method compared to the one from DNV rules, which includes the effect of roll motion. Results from the simplified methods and NLFEA method show good correlation. All the simplified methods overestimate the absorbed energy, which is conservative. Among these, Liu’s method gives the best correlation with the NLFEA method. Two additional jobs are conducted in the end. Only the energy dissipation is analyzed in this section. One is changing the loading conditions of the two bodies. The energy dissipation becomes smaller after changing. The other one is changing the friction coefficient. The energy dissipated by the tanker is smaller, while by the platform is larger. But from the overall view, the energy does not show big difference with friction coefficient 0.15 and 0.4.

L’Arménie se situe dans la zone de collision entre Arabie et Eurasie et est le siège d’une déformation intracontinental active comme l’atteste les nombreux tremblements de terre historiques qui s’y sont produits. Tous ces séismes, destructeurs, attestent d’une forte activité sismique régionale, et il est par conséquent important d'évaluer l’aléa sismique associé aux structures actives qui génère cette sismicité.Le travail présenté ici, expose les résultats de l’analyse de la tectonique active au niveau des terminaisons nord-ouest et sud-est de la faille de Pambak-Sevan-Syunik (PSSF), une des failles décrochant majeure qui traverse l'Arménie du NW au SE. La quantification des déformations en termes de géométrie, cinématique, vitesse de glissement et paléosismicité, en utilisant les méthodes de datation 3He cosmogénique, OSL/IRSL et radiocarbone, révèlent des comportements différents entre les deux régions.Au niveau de la terminaison nord-ouest, dans la région d’Amassia, la faille PSSF s’incurve vers l'ouest et se subdivise en deux branches de direction WNW-ESE, et de cinématique inverse, définissant une structure en pop-up. Nous estimons une vitesse de soulèvement de 0.5 ± 0.1 mm/an et une vitesse de raccourcissement NNE-SSW de 1.4 ± 0.6 mm/an. Ces résultats suggère que l’essentiel des ~2 mm/an de mouvement dextre estimés le long de la faille de PSSF sont absorbés au niveau du pop-up d’Amassia.Au niveau de la terminaison sud-est, dans la région du volcan Tsghuk, la faille PSSF semble disparaitre. Le peu d’activité tectonique est caractérisée par des failles normales sub-méridiennes associées à une légère composante décrochant dextre. Nous déterminons une vitesse de glissement vertical de ~0,2 mm/an, une vitesse d’extension ~EW de ~0,1 mm/an associée à une composante dextre de ~0,05 mm/an. Ces résultats suggèrent que le mouvement dextre observé le long de la faille de PSSF plus au nord, a été transféré sur d'autres failles plus à l'ouest dans le Karabakh (faille Hagari ou autres structures situés encore plus au NW)The territory of Armenia was located in the collision zone between Arabia and Eurasia, and is the seat of active intercontinental deformations, which was attested by the many historical earthquakes that have occurred in this region. All these destructive earthquakes show a strong regional seismic activity, and therefore it is important to evaluate the seismic hazard associated with active structures that generates this seismicity.This study presents the results of the analysis of the active tectonics within the northwestern and southeastern extensions of the Pambak-Sevan-Syunik fault (PSSF), a major right-lateral strike-slip fault cutting through Armenia (NW - SE). Quantifying the deformations in terms of geometry, kinematics, slip rates and earthquake activity, using cosmogenic 3He, OSL/IRSL and radiocarbon dating techniques, reveal different behaviors between the two regions.Within the northwestern extension, in the region of Amassia, the PSSF bends to the west and splits into two main WNW-ESE trending reverse faults defining a compressional pop-up structure. We estimate an uplift rate and a shortening rate of 0.5 ± 0.1 mm/y and 1.4 ± 0.6 mm/y, respectively. This suggests that most of the ~2 mm/y right lateral movement of the PSSF seems to be absorbed within the Amasia pop-structure.Within the southeastern extension, in the region of Tsghuk volcano, the PSSF shows signs of dying out at the southernmost tip of the Syunik graben. A very slow NS trending normal faulting associated with a slight right-lateral movement characterizes the tectonic activity in the region of Tsghuk volcano. We estimate vertical slip rates, EW stretching rate, and right-lateral slip rate of ~0.2 mm/y, ~0.1 mm/y and ~0.05 mm/y, respectively. These results lead to the conclusion that the right lateral movement observed further north along the PSSF is mainly transferred within other active faults further west within the Karabagh (Hagari fault or other structures further northwestwards)

The interest for Arctic deep water development intensifies as the worldwide demand for oil and gas continues to grow. As much as 25 % of the world’s remaining hydrocarbons are assumed to be located in the Arctic area. However, the Arctic environment represents engineering challenges due to sea ice, temperature, darkness and environmental impact requirements. To meet these challenges for Arctic deep water developments to have a possibility for year-round operations, particularly for ice loading, a combination of traditional and innovative technology is the key. A buoy shaped floater with a single point detachment is suggested. The hull shape of a buoy has the advantage to reduce loading from ice features and to be loaded in all directions. The geometry of the hull in the ice action area has a significant effect on the magnitude of ice action. In this thesis, the main scope of work is to investigate and analyze ice actions subjected to a floating offshore structure with sloping hull in the ice action water line.The first section is a literature review of the different aspect of sea ice to get a better knowledge of sea ice’s properties and behavior such that the Arctic engineering becomes more comprehensible. Further, a study of the Arctic areas of interest with focus on the Barents Sea has been carried out, followed by an assessment of the industry’s experiences with floating platforms in ice infested waters.An assessment of ice actions, both global ice action and local ice pressure, has been performed using a Sevan Arctic Mobile Offshore Drilling Unit design as reference structure. Theoretical formulations to determine global ice action from level ice and ridge has been examined, as well as an assessment of ice actions from managed ice due to full scale experience from an identical design, the Kulluk Drilling unit. A comparative study of upward and downward sloping structure has been conducted towards geometrical parameters for the ice features, such as level ice thickness, rubble height, consolidated layer thickness and keel height. It is found that increasing level ice thickness is more severe than increasing geometrical sizes of ridges if the slope is bending ice upwards, but opposite if the slope is bending ice downwards. Local ice pressure on sloping structures has been difficult to determine due to lack of literature available. Hence, several approaches have been assessed and the most suited approach for sloping structures has been used further in the thesis to examine structural hull capacity. As a final assessment, a nonlinear static analysis has been performed in ABAQUS of a local model extracted from a Sevan Arctic Mobile Offshore Drilling Unit design which is a buoy shaped floater. ABAQUS solves the finite element method numerically. Hence, a theory part targeting ABAQUS and the element theory relevant for this thesis has been presented. Further, the footsteps necessary to perform in ABAQUS to submit a nonlinear static analysis has been presented. A study has been done with regards to the selection of element size and type by a convergence test which establishes that linear quadrilateral elements with reduced integration and global size 200mm provide conservative results. The local model was check with regards to structural capacity for uniformly distributed ice pressure. In this thesis, the structural capability has been examined for stiffeners and plates and limited by the yielding criterion given by von Mises stress. Based on the results, it has been suggested to design the scantling with higher capability in the stiffeners and reduce the capability in the hull plate to decrease this scattering in structural capability between stiffener and plate. It has also been suggested that the operational ice draft should be designed such that ice actions are loaded on the elevation of a stringer.

The House of the Seven Gables is the name given to a house in Salem, MA, constructed in 1668, that now, arguably, has seven gables. It would seem logical to assume that the book written by Nathaniel Hawthorne in 1851, titled with the same name, would be about this house. However, the timeline of these namings is backwards, and the writer strictly denied the relation, instead likening the house of the story to a "castle in the air": a haunted, fantastical construction and metaphorical container for the moments of crisis when history repeats itself. The setting for a ghost story. In other words, it shouldn't be read into as a real thing. Of course, this denial can't be taken too literally. The property on Turner Street was indeed once owned by a cousin of Hawthorne's, and his time spent playing cards with her in the parlor is well documented. As it stands, the house in Salem is a historic landmark, revered both as a figment of literary mythology, and as one of the oldest and largest intact examples of colonial architecture in the former Massachusetts Bay Colony. As such, it stands obliquely for over 350 years of American history and national identity, both in its physicality and in Hawthorne's portrayal. Through the practice of close reading, this thesis designs a set of ways of apprehending the house as a living document, which like a text, can be read to hold a multiplicity of associated social and political meanings in its constructive details, its structural syntax, its contents and their stylings, and its siting. The method is in the repetitive act of representation in order to depict the house 'for what it is' by reenacting its intimations. Seven chapters, each refocusing the lens through which the house is imaged, set out to make visible the intersecting narratives latent in its architecture. My aim is not to resolve complexities, redundancies, or the stubbornness of the present architectural articulation, rather to elucidate their sources and implications: the vestigial ghosts of an alternate set of hauntings.

Utopia has a pedigree going back to early modernity and Thomas More; it has been reshaped by contemporaneous concerns from the emergence of technologies to changing geopolitical realities. For this reason, utopia has been invested with different ideological content over centuries. There are three interrelated theses in this essay. First, that Utopia is a genre of literature that is marked by a conversation between authors; utopias broadly engage one another in a textual dialogue. Second, this genre finds its origins in the early modern period, although it has been eclipsed by dystopia since the early twentieth-‐‑century—despite a brief recovery in the seventies. Third, utopia can be renewed in novelistic form today, as I demonstrate with my novel We Are Seven, but only by engaging in a literary conversation with dystopia as well as utopia, and by learning from literary innovations such as the ustopia. To develop these claims I will provide an analysis of theoreticians to establish delimiting definitions of the genre and examine its broader history. This involves arguing that utopias are more than idealistic depictions of fictional societies, but properly categorised as attempts to depict, in narrative form, superior, counterfactual institutional solutions to the socio-political and economic problems of creating and sustaining a good society. Next I present examples of utopias throughout history, expanding on the thesis, before looking more in more depth at the writing process for We Are Seven. In doing so I aim to make an engaging and original contribution to the narrative tradition of utopia and participate in the historical conversation in a way that is relevant to our times and politics.

The string quintet The Seven Seas attempts to explore the relationship between narrative and abstract perceptions. Challenging the axiom that our mind interprets all in-coming information in narrative terms, the piece attempts to determine to what extent such a condition persists when taken towards its opposite - a non narrative perception.
Contrary to what the title suggests, the quintet does not depict physical bodies of water; rather, its main material employs seven pitch-classes C distributed over the range of seven octaves. Thus, the main idea of the piece is primarily linked to the element of register, examining each note as an individual entity from different timbral and spacial angles.
Since the main idea of the piece consists of one note in registral disposition, the harmony plays a subordinate role in it and fulfills two functions: (I) articulating sectional divisions and (II) as a means of textural coloring. In terms of counterpoint, all material revolves around pitch class C, widening the pitch-class' territory by slightly deviating from it by half steps to create the illusion of variation.
To reinforce its textural complexity, the piece heavily draws on rhythm. In terms of rhythm, the complexity was achieved by either (I) construction or deconstruction of rhythmical patterns or (II) by building polyrhythmic structures.

Sa population souffrait de la promiscuité : 17 habitants par maison à la veille de la Révolution, parfois davantage, lorsque la soldatesque indisciplinée était logée chez l'habitant ! Au siècle des Lumières, la ville comptait 712 maisons, pas une de plus, pour accueillir les centaines d'ouvriers embauchés par les nombreuses manufactures textiles, innovantes, dynamiques, prospères. . . Les rues, parées de façades à l'architecture remarquable, statues, calvaires, fontaines monumentales, inscriptions votives, enseignes en fer forge, réverbères, horloges, adaptaient leur décor aux aspirations et aux modes, même si leurs infrastructures évoluaient peu. Les rues, à usage collectif, prolongeaient le type de relations sociales nées dans les villages du plat-pays. L'osmose habitat-travail-atelier renforçait les liens, les échanges, toutes les formes de communication. Les rues très insalubres, malodorantes, humides et sombres, constituaient le décor de la comédie humaine : émois populaires, révoltes de tondeux exploités. Years ago, my mother choreographed a dance entitled "Seven Dreams in Color", a seven-act dance wherein each act relayed a memory of her childhood. These memories were colored by her individual experience and often seemed warped to her, as if having been filtered through a dream. I seek to recontextualize these dreams through my own lens as a way of honoring my mother's history and my own memories. Each work functions, through color and composition, as a separate act and embodies a non-linear memory. I utilize painting, drawing and printmaking to harness dichotomous visual elements in order to convey scenes as tumultuous as both the world around me and my own shifting moods. Abrupt changes of atmosphere are of particular interest to me. I portray this shift through the visual disruptions of cropping imagery, color or medium shifts, and scale changes. Graphic schisms take my work to an unpredictable conclusion while confounding the viewer. My work reveals my desperation and need to translate all of the conflict, battles and resolutions that I observe.

This recital was created with the intention of reconnecting fundamental elements of music that have been estranged from jazz in the last 20 years. The uses of themes, experimentation, original composition, spirituality and social criticism or social commitment have all been pushed aside in the present state of jazz. These elements of music which helped jazz and its popularity have fallen under the shadow of improvisational virtuosity in today’s jazz music.
Today jazz is saturated with various personalities, opinions, and world cultures. This new spectrum of possibilities has created numerous frontiers for the future of improvisation. At the same time this new world of music without limitations, specifics, and stylistic constraints is leaving a new generation with unanswered questions about the next step in the evolution of jazz. The Seven Deadly Sins was created as a personal attempt to distill the vital essence of jazz today and present it through a thematic device to a diverse listening audience.
The Seven Deadly Sins was composed through the use of singular jazz vocabulary. This limited vocabulary is a personal expression of my outlook on the essence of jazz language and the world jazz explains.
Since The Seven Deadly Sins is based on a language, the use of an all-encompassing theme seemed an appropriate step in the direction of creating a greater holistic project. For this means I chose to use the seven deadly sins, a theme created from Christianity in the Middle Ages, and used by numerous writers before this piece.
Today, musicians are hostile toward conservative/traditional players, experimentalists, and all types of players in between. This skepticism toward differences has grown out of a survivalist mentality in the present music environment. Jazz today is a style in anarchy. The range of expression has been stretched to include Pat Metheny, Wynton Marsalis, Anthony Braxton, and everyone in between.
Musicians who survive today are required to master the fundamentals of be-bop, fusion, latin, pop, sight-reading, MIDI technology, and even classical music. As a result these conditions are creating a generation of moderates that is unable to leap in any one direction, and skeptical of attempts that aren’t well rounded. In the same way that politicians fight for the moderate voters to win an election, jazz musicians are campaigning for the moderate listening audience to stay employed. Out of this interpretation of the present music environment I created this concert as an answer to the questions of the present and future state of jazz.

This present paper intends to works with studies about perversion, including the conception of deviant sexuality, from Middle age, to the structuralist studies proposed by Jacques Lacan, verifying in the movie Seven, by David Fincher, the possibility of interpreting that John Doe s acts are characteristics of perversion. Our object is to demonstrate how the serial killer s actions in the movie Seven can reveal movements of the unconscious that follow a motivation/manipulation of desire. To accomplish our goal, we will resort to three lines of theoretical discussion: 1) the perversion under the vision of fetishization (objectification of the sexual desire), the brain degeneration, the substitution of the desire and psychological structure (Cf. ROUDINESCO, 2008; BINET 1904 [1879]; KRAFFT-EBING (apud ROUDINESCO, 2008); FREUD, 1989 [1905]; LACAN, 1988 [1956] and 1999 [1958]);2) the seven capital sins as a way of maintenance and reintegration of the power of the church (Cf. DELUMEAU, 2003; LE GOFF, 2011; AQUINO, 2000); 3) the filmic adaptation through the prism of transtextuality (Cf. STAM, 2006; ANDREW, 1984; HUTCHEON, 2011). We analyze the film Seven seeking to infer from the crimes committed by the murderer John Doe, the movements of the unconscious that reveal the diviation of the desire to objectification of the victims. We realize that the diviation of the sexual objects can be seen both from the point of view of the religious inversion such as psychoanalysis. For our analysis, we will show the verbal and visual texts of the murders presented by the film, then, we propose the analysis of the sequence of crimes based on two types of perversion: voyeuristic (pleasure to look at the other) and sadism (pleasure to overpower the other). We observed in our research the intrinsic relationship between voyeur and sadistic acts and religious motivation witch can determine the crimes by the purification of the capital sins. Thereby, with the possibility of reading the film Seven as an adaptation based on source texts that deal with themes such as sin and transgression of the law, we saw that the construction of the film reveals us a (re) reading of the texts about capital sins and clinical work with perversion patients.
A presente dissertação trabalha com os estudos acerca da perversão, desde o conceito de sexualidade desviante, visto na Idade Média, até os estudos estruturalistas, propostos por Jacques Lacan, verificando no filme Seven, de David Fincher, a possibilidade de uma leitura dos atos do personagem John Doe como característicos da perversão. Objetivamos demonstrar de que modo as ações do assassino em série do filme Seven podem revelar movimentos do inconsciente que seguem uma motivação/manipulação do desejo. Para atingirmos nosso objetivo, iremos recorrer a três linhas de discussão teórica, a saber: 1) a perversão sob as óticas da fetichização (objetificação do desejo sexual), da degeneração cerebral, da substituição do desejo e da estrutura psíquica (Cf. ROUDINESCO, 2008; BINET, 1904 [1879]; KRAFFT-EBING (apud ROUDINESCO, 2008); FREUD, 1989 [1905]; LACAN, 1988 [1956] e 1999 [1958]); 2) os sete pecados capitais como forma de manutenção e reintegração do poder da Igreja (Cf. DELUMEAU, 2003; LE GOFF, 2011; AQUINO, 2000); 3) a adaptação fílmica pelo prisma da transtextualidade (Cf. STAM, 2006; ANDREW, 1984; HUTCHEON, 2011). Analisamos o filme Seven, buscando inferir dos crimes cometidos pelo assassino (sujeito), John Doe, os movimentos do inconsciente que revelem o desvio do desejo para objetificação, ou coisificação, das vítimas. Percebemos que esses desvios do objeto sexual podem ser vistos tanto do ponto de vista da inversão religiosa, como do ponto de vista da psicanálise. Para nossa análise, iremos nos ater ao texto verbal e visual das cenas dos assassinatos apresentados pelo filme, e, em seguida, propomo-nos a analisar a sequência de crimes com base em dois tipos de perversão: voyeur (prazer na fixação em olhar o outro) e sádico (prazer em subjulgar e humilhar o outro). Verificamos em nossa pesquisa a relação intrínseca existente entre os atos voyeur e sádicos com a motivação religiosa que condiciona os crimes por meio da purificação dos pecados capitais. Assim, com a possibilidade da leitura do filme Seven como uma adaptação baseada em textos-fonte que tratam da temática do pecado e da transgressão da lei, observamos que a construção do filme (em especial da movimentação criminosa de John Doe) nos revela uma (re)leitura dos textos sobre os pecados capitais e sobre a clínica perversa.

Hur ser studievägledarna på gymnasieskolans flexibilitet i fråga om att hantera felval? Vilka uppfattningar finns bland studievägledare om fördelar och nackdelar med en längre gymnasietid än tre år?Studien är utförd med en kvalitativ metod och resultatet analyseras med hjälp av careershipsteorin kompletterad av Bourdieus begrepp doxa. Resultatet visar att vägledarna anser att det är svårare för praktiskt sinnade elever att ta sig igenom gymnasiet på ett tillfredsställande vis samt att gymnasieexamen anses mer av ett självändamål bland vägledare på gymnasiet än på Komvux.

Det här arbetet behandlar en del av Carl Friedrich Gauss livsverk. En historisk bakgrund om vetenskap ges från Euklides Elementa och om vetenskap från 1500–1800-talet. En inblick i Gauss barndom och ungdom samt hans liv och skolning,och vidare hans universitetstid beskrivs där fokus läggs på en 17-sidors regelbunden månghörning Gauss konstruerade utifrån Euklides teorier i Elementa. Gauss doktorsavhandling om Algebrans fundamentalsats från 1799 och dess bevis gås igenom. Därefter följer en beskrivning om Gauss matematiska teorier inom komplex analysoch hans geometriska tolkning om det komplexa talplanet; Talteorin – verket Aritmetiska Undersökningar och dess sju kapitel diskuteras. Numerisk matematik och astronomiska beräkningar beskrivs som minsta kvadratmetoden och statistik. Vidare behandlas nåagra viktiga resultat Gauss kom fram till om differentialgeometri och därefter beskrivs den icke-euklidiska geometrin som uppstod på 1800-talet. Teorin om vektorfältanalys, divergenssatsen behandlas och tilläampas. Med fokus på matematik beskrivs Gauss arbete med tillämpningar och teorier inom fysik, astronomi ochgeodesi samt kristallografi.

“Seven Original Compositions for Jazz Combo” is a project inspired by the compositional and improvisational work of seven famous jazz trumpeters. These diverse players include Tom Harrell, Roy Hargrove, Kenny Dorham, Chet Baker, Lee Morgan, Miles Davis, and Scott Wendholt. Each musician influenced my compositions in various ways; I imitated the harmonic language of Tom Harrell and Kenny Dorham in my compositions “Lighthouse Reverie” and “Bog Walking” respectively, and the lyricism of Chet Baker in “I Kissed You Goodbye.” Roy Hargrove’s approach to melody provided the main influence for my 18-bar tune “The Shaft House,” while Miles Davis’s treatment of the blues form influenced “The Dawn Approaches Like Tears.” The elements of harp bop found in Lee Morgan’s music inspired my piece “Lil’B Jr.,” and Scott Wendholt’s flowing, wavelike lines shaped the melody of “The Homp Romp.” The instrumentation for each composition includes trumpet, saxophone, piano, bass, and drums, with voice on one tune. In addition to the compositions a recording and musical analysis accompany each piece. I presented a lecture recital on June 1, 2015 in Ball State University’s Choral Hall, at which I explained and demonstrated each trumpeter’s influence on my music.

Skillnader mellan den svenska och koreanska kulturen är stor, derassamhälle är kollektivistisk med en hög kontext kultur medan vårt samhälle är merindividualistiskt och av låg kontext karaktär.Vårt huvudproblem syftar till att utreda hur ett litet modeföretag kan marknadsföra sig på denkoreanska marknaden. Syftet med studien är att beskriva hur det kan gå till och somutgångspunkt använder vi oss av ett fallföretag, Josefin Strid, som inspiration ochavgränsning. Avgränsningen sker också med hjälp av en sociokulturell synvinkel. Vi kommeratt betrakta kultur ur ett marknadsföringsperspektiv för att förstå hur det påverkar val avmarknadsföringsstrategi. Utgångspunkten är en kvalitativ ansats där vi använder oss av engruppintervju och en deltagande observation för att erhålla empiri som kan knytas till denlitteratur vi funnit på området. De teorier som ligger till grund för vår uppsats är Sarathyskulturmodell, Hofstedes fem dimensioner, hög –och låg kontext kultur och Schrammskommunikationsmodell samt historik över Sydkorea och deras kultur. SouthKorea has, for a long time, been associated with the Korean War and the power play by NorthKorea. These factors have placed the country in the shadow of its stronger neighbour. Thereare great differences between the Korean and the Swedish culture; their society iscollectivistic with a high context culture, while our society is more individualistic and has alow context culture.The main problem in this study is to investigate how a small fashion company can marketthemselves in the Korean market. The purpose of the research is to describe how the processcan be done. We will use a small company, Josefin Strid, to inspiration and limitation andinvestigate culture from a marketing perspective to understand how it affects the choice ofmarketing strategies. The starting point is a qualitative approach where we use a groupinterview in order to obtain empirical data that can be linked to the literature we found in thearea. From the analysis of the collective material we draw two conclusions; creating networksand relationships are of great importance for establishment in the South Korean market. Theinformation and communication channels are changing due to globalisation and can be usedas a key factor to success because it reaches a large audience with a small amount ofresources.Program: Textilekonomutbildningen

Att vara fonologiskt medveten som barn är av största betydelse för att kunna utveckla ett rikt och flytande språk.Syfte och frågeställningarSyftet är att skapa kunskap om elever som befinner sig i riskzonen hittas med hjälp av kartläggningen och i så fall hur. Vidare avser vi att öka kunskapen om vad ett urval lärare i förskoleklass och lärare med specialpedagogisk kompetens anser vara adekvata insatser för dessa elever och om dessa insatser sätts in.•Hur beskriver ett urval av lärare i förskoleklass att resultatet av kartläggningen används för vidare undervisning?•Upplever dessa lärare att elever i riskzonen upptäcks med hjälp av kartläggningsmaterialet och i så fall hur?•Vilka insatser ges på de undersökta skolorna, för elever i riskzonen för läs-och skrivsvårigheter och av vem?•Vilken roll har läraren med specialpedagogisk kompetens på de undersökta skolorna, i samband med kartläggning?TeoriVår studie belyses utifrån ett sociokulturellt perspektiv där Vygotskij (2001) har inspirerat oss i att lärande sker i samspel mellan människor i olika kontexter. Den proximala utvecklingszonen med hjälp av scaffolding, artefakter och medierande redskap medför elevernas möjligheter till att lyckas (Säljö, 2014). Vi har även i vår studie knutit an till teorier kring läsforskning, där Lundberg, Rydqvist och Strid (2018) belyser vikten av fonologisk medvetenhet och tidiga insatser för att förhindra läs- och skrivsvårigheter.MetodVårt insamlade material bygger på semistrukturerade intervjuer av lärare i förskoleklass samt lärare med specialpedagogisk kompetens. För att stärka tillförlitligheten i vårt arbete och att vår frågeguide stämde väl överens med undersökningens syfte genomförde vi först en pilotundersökning. Intervjuerna vi gjorde på de olika skolorna transkriberades och lyssnades noggrant igenom av oss båda. Därefter bröt vi ner och bearbetade respondenternas svar till mindre enheter och satte in dem i en innehållsanalys.ResultatLärarna uttrycker att kartläggningsmaterialet ”Hitta språket” är tidskrävande men är ändå ett bra underlag för vidare undervisning. Trots att kartläggningsmaterialet ”Hitta språket” anses vara översiktligt kan det ändå visa indikationer på var individuella djupdykningar och insatser behöver göras. Lärarna anser att elever i riskzonen för läs- och skrivsvårigheter identifieras även utan kartläggningsmaterialet ”Hitta språket”. Insatserna som huvudsakligen görs för elever i riskzonen för att utveckla läs- och skrivsvårigheter på skolorna är främst inom den ordinarie undervisningen med ledning och stimulans. Det förekommer även några få individuella insatser med stöd av lärare med specialpedagogisk kompetens. Nivågrupperingar är vanligt förekommande på skolorna för att möta eleverna där de är i sin utveckling, det vill säga, i deras proximala utvecklingszon. Lärarna med specialpedagogisk kompetens finns framför allt med som en handledande funktion i arbetet och deras koppling till förskoleklassen har blivit tydligare sedan både förskoleklassen och kartläggningsmaterialet ”Hitta språket” blivit obligatoriskt. Specialpedagogiska implikationerDet visar sig att det inte tillhör självklarheten att förskoleklassen har lärare med specialpedagogisk kompetens knuten till sig. Vi som speciallärare inom språk-, läs- och skrivutveckling kommer att ha en viktig och betydande roll för att följa eleverna efter vad deras resultat i kartläggningsmaterialet ”Hitta språket” visar. Det är viktigt att sätta in åtgärder tidigt för att stötta elever som befinner sig i riskzonen för läs- och skrivsvårigheter. Vi tror att lärarna ute på skolorna vill att alla elever ska få samma chans att lyckas i skolan men vi vet samtidigt att elever har väldigt olika förutsättningar. Då är det alla lärare men särskilt lärare med specialpedagogisk kompetens som ska stödja dessa elever ur ett relationellt perspektiv (Ahlberg, 2016). Samtidigt finns det de som menar att man inte ska kartlägga och stämpla eleverna för tidigt utan låta dem växa i sin egen takt. Svenska skolans undervisning ska dessutom vara inkluderande och här kan det bli motsättningar om vi ser hur Finland gör, som tidigt ger stödinsatser exkluderande för att de ska få bättre förutsättningar i sin vidare utbildning (Takala, 2009).

The seven compositions that comprise this dissertation are represented by the following files: text file (pdf), seven video performances (mp4), and corresponding zipped files of custom software and affiliated files (various file types).This Digital Portfolio Dissertation presents seven compositions including text documents that explain the synthesis techniques, data mapping and routing, visual elements, the software used, all software needed to reproduce these works, and a video recording of all seven compositions. The unifying thread in my seven works is magic. The sense of magic in a live performance is the connection between artist and audience that lies beyond the immediate understanding of any work. I use this insight to create a new world inspired by sound and visuals. I perform each of these works by combining my understanding of data-driven instruments and my experience as a classically trained musician. The combination of sound design, visual composition, and a sense of magic allows me to realize these seven works. My goal is to contribute to the extensive library of electroacoustic works through my performance of my music with data-driven instruments.

Premiere partie : les options specifiques dans l'appel au reel : o'casey a raison de refuser l'etiquette realiste. Mais il s'attache a des fragments multiples de realite, a des reels, a la vie. Ces niveaux de realite sont permanents dans l'oeuvre (indications sceniques, echanges verbaux dans la banalite du quotidien, absence de psychologie traditionnelle mais plausibilite minimale dans les personnages, situations centrales au lieu d'intrigues classiques, stylisation de l'histoire, didactisme, melodrame, comique, langage). Deuxieme partie : expressions et finalites de l'irreel : l'evolution de l'irreel ou du reve, piece par piece. L'imaginaire est present dans les pieces de dublin, mais comme negativement. Avec the silver tassie apparait une rupture : irruption de l'irreel pour l'expression du progressisme de l'auteur et de ses visions d'une cite future : esthetique, politique et sociale. (les "lendemains qui chantent"). L'evolution mene a une incarnation de l'irreel dans des etres mythiques, dans les dernieres pieces, et vers la fin a une curieuse presence de dieu. Vers une fantaisie revolutionnaire. La fete dans le theatre d'o'casey. Troisieme partie : modalites revolutionnaires : la specificite profonde des pieces d'o'casey est evoquee sous les rubriques suivantes :. Theatre de l'inconfort (ruptures de ton, mises en question).
