Abstract:
The significant impact of cancer on women’s sexual well-being has been acknowledged increasingly within research. However, the role of cultural discourse in shaping women’s construction and embodied experience of sexuality has received less attention. In this study, we examined heterosexual women’s constructions of sexual embodiment in the context of cancer. Sixteen women across a range of ages (20–71 years), cancer types and stages took part in in-depth semi-structured interviews. A thematic decomposition analysis was conducted on the interview transcripts, drawing on feminist poststructuralist theory. A main theme was identified in which the women took up subject positions of “Embodying sexuality” and “Embodying the absence of sexuality”. Accounts of “Embodying sexuality” included “Experiencing bodily ease during sex” and “Managing a dysfunctional body during sex”. The women’s positioning of “Embodying the absence of sexuality” included “Asexuality and the absence of desire” and “Unsuccessful attempts to renegotiate sex”. Women’s intrapsychic negotiation of sexual and gendered discourse, the materiality of embodied change and relationship context influenced their constructions of sexual subjectivity. These findings indicate a need for researchers and clinicians to acknowledge cultural discourses of sex and gender that shape the possibilities and constraints for women’s sexual well-being after cancer.

Abstract:
It is no longer necessary to defend current historiography of psychology against the strictures aimed at its early text book incarnations in the 1960s and 1970s. At that time, Robert Young (1966) and others denigrated then standard textbook histories of psychology for their amateurism and their justifications propaganda for specific standpoints in current psychology, disguised as history. Since then, at least some textbooks writers and working historians of psychology have made such criticisms their own (Leahey 1986; Furumoto 1989). The demand for textbook histories continues nonetheless. Psychology, at least in the United States, remains the only discipline that makes historical representations of itself in the form of “history and systems” courses an official part of its pedagogical canon, required, interestingly enough, for the license in clinical practice (see Ash 1983).1In the meantime, the professionalization of scholarship in history of psychology has proceeded apace. All of the trends visible in historical and social studies of other sciences, as well as in general cultural and intellectual history, are noe present in the historical study of psychology. Yet despite the visibility and social importance of psychology's various applications, and the prominence of certain schools of psychological thought such as behaviorism and psychoanalysis in contemporary cultural and political debate, the historiography of psychology has continued to hold a marginal position in history and social studies of science.

Abstract:
Sexual agency is a fundamental dimension of sexual subjectivity and well-being. Research and theory suggest that it functions in the service of both protection from harm and enabling sexual pleasure. However, sexual agency can be difficult for women to navigate in a social landscape in which femininity ideologies remain powerful social forces, operating in racialized ways. We examined how embodiment, sexual desire, and entitlement to sexual pleasure were associated with sexual agency in the service of protection (i.e., condom use and refusing unwanted sex) and pleasure (i.e., asking for what one wants from a sexual partner) for Black and White heterosexual college women using path analysis and path invariance testing. We found that across race, women’s embodiment was associated with greater comfort with their sexual desire, which in turn was associated with greater entitlement to sexual pleasure and sexual agency in service of both pleasure and protection. While Black and White women evidenced similar levels of both forms of agency, Black participants’ agency in the service of protection was unrelated to their entitlement to sexual pleasure. We discuss these findings in light of racialized discourses of women’s sexuality and the importance of understanding sexual desire as anchored in the body and enabling young women’s sexual agency.

Abstract:
This study explores women’s experiences of sex with men. It is based on qualitative data collected from eighteen life history interviews. Such an approach provides means for examining women’s sexual experiences over time. The study finds that women give meaning to their sexual experiences through two main discursive representations: the passive, “proper” and sexually obliging girlfriend or wife, and the active and “sexually equal” woman. However, these representations do not capture the entirety of women’s sexual experiences. The life history analysis demonstrates that women are not simply inscribed by discourse. Rather, they are embodied beings actively engaged in pursuing sexual identities. Central to the process is a relationship between the practice of sex and self-reflexivity over time. Finally, the study demonstrates how the process of gaining sexual subjectivity is shaped by the material conditions of women’s lives. For instance, the praxeological circumstances of women’s class or race are powerful in recasting discourses of feminine sexuality, the meanings women ascribe to them, their access to broader sexual experiences, and the kinds of relationships they have with their male partners.

Abstract:
The present paper analyses the theoretical framework that subsidizes the phallic-oedipal Freudian model in order to consider to what extent it reproduces sexual and binary divisions, with its hierarchical and asymmetrical implications. Initially, we have examined philosophical, scientific and political assumptions that permitted the invention of the sexual difference model, producing specific roles to feminine and masculine genders. Afterwards, we have evaluated repercussions from the sexual and phallic monism on the reinvention of sexed bodies. And, finally, we have focused on the construction of the phallic-oedipal model, searching for approximations with monism and sexual dimorphism, as well as its imbrications on subjectivities production. To do so, we have carried out a bibliographical research and analysis of Freudian work and contemporary psychoanalysis by authors who seek to question the implications of the phallicoedipal model utilization as a central axis for subjectivity and eroticization, such as Joel Birman, Márcia Arán, Regina Néri and Silvia Nunes. In the same way, we have established a productive dialogue with authors such as Thomas Laqueur, Michel Foucault and Judith Butler with regards to the creation of sex and gender categories. We expect our work to broaden discussion and knowledge on questions related to sex and gender problematic in contemporaneity, offering support to professionals who deal with those themes directly or indirectly

Abstract:
Objective and problematic: the transsexualism as well as its treatment by the hormonal and surgical sex reassignment are phenomena in the crossroads of all the limits: body, subjectivity, society, psyche … In front of this complexity, running with the approaches structural and deconstructivist, this thesis has for objective to define and to propose a new "transversal" approach of the transsexualism, and in the continuity of this one of the sexed identity, with the elements of the psychoanalytical theory that are the sexual death drive, the third topical of the splited Unconscious, the impulsive realization by the perception and the clinical of the extreme and the ordinary.Material(Equipment) and method: on sample of six subjects transsexuals male to female resorting at present or having resorted to the sex reassignment for more than two years, we analyzed the results in a clinical interview inspired by the structural approach, in the projective tests of the rorschach and the TAT according to the projectivist method of Paris Descartes, as well as in the MMPI-2. Our three hypotheses are that the transsexual identity problematic would send back to the sexual death drive, to the amential Unconscious and to the clinical of the extreme, then that the sex reassignment would have the potential to act such as an impulsive realization by the perception. Results: the results validate both first ones hypothesis on the sex drive, the amential Unconscious and the clinical of the extreme, but not that one on the impulsive realization by the perception. Conclusion and discussion: these results show the interest of a transversal approach to dread a phenomenon borderline as are it the transsexualism and the sexed identity which see each other lit by the transversal theoretical proposed elements (sexual death drive, amential Unconscious and private hospital of the extreme). Concerning, the effects of psychic sex reassignment at the level, it seems necessary to pursue our investigation, the impulsive realization by the perception has been validated to one of our subject but excluded to the other one

Abstract:
Psychology is a human activity of knowledge construction (Simão, 2004) and saying that we become aware of how important it is to study the historical and philosophical aspects which permeate its construction. We follow thus, its self-making process, putting ourselves before a psychology which contains a variety of theories either connected or disconnected to it regarding to scientific criteria This psychological dimension holds itself in a dynamic of ruptures which Figueiredo (2012) calls as dispersion field or sometimes even into the idea of the unifying psychology. Knowing that theoretical and methodological plurality I see the necessity for a deeper thinking regarding the psychologist´s choice or empathy towards a certain theory or stream. I believe that such choices are intrinsically connected to his or her cognitive-emotional experiences through life. The proposal of this work was to analyze the fundamental thoughts of Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925), who was the founder of anthroposophy philosophy which deals with some core themes of psychology. A dialogue was sought between some historical-cultural aspects which involved his own path of knowledge construction and the psychology-making. The proposal of this work was to make an attempt to place Steiner´s thoughts into the so called psychology space according to Figueiredo (2007). Steiner´s self- reported episodes were analyzed from his autobiography which I referred here as cognitive-emotional experiences and how those aspects may have shaped his way of thinking. One of those aspects is his very close dialogue with J. W. Goethe´s ideas which also deserved prominence in this research. Nowadays there is a new light upon Goethe´s thinking, mainly in regards to his conception of intuition, so, that is why psychology is also interested and concerned with how intuition can influence human development. Perhaps this will be the contemporaneity of this paper. It was required approximation and distancing movements from the researcher in special to her previous knowledge about Steiner, and in doing so, it has given her a better comprehension about both: psychology construction and Steiner path. As a result, there was a better understanding on how the process of making choice takes place when a psychologist decides on one or the other stream to conduct his professional approach, noticing that there are historical-cultural aspects which lead the psychologists to choose, guiding them either to counseling practice or in the research field

Abstract:
The present research studies the cognitive modalities involved in assessment, judgment and decision-taking when the data to be processed are uncertain or probabilistic. The basic functional unit of such behaviour requires the simultaneous analysis of theoretical concepts of cognitive psychology, methodology (quantification, theory of measure) and data collected from psychologicl (diagnosis) or psycho-pedagogical (decision) practive. All such elements are treated as being equally influential. The analysis is divided into three sections : 1 subjective values and their appraisal : five chapters 2 study of data integration strategies (formal models) : three chapters 3 targeting of subjective models and processing strategies inferred from clinical practice : four chapters. Proposed hypotheses, corroborated by experimental results, stress the disparity between formal and cognitive categories, and suggest new theoretical referentials in date processing

This research investigates the importance that freshmen students of the Administration course from PUC University/Sao Paulo allocates to their professional future projects, as well as the elements and multiple determinants that compose these projects. The transformations our society has gone through the last decades, as the technological advancement, flexibilization processes, precarization of work and the economy globalization have brought changes, which are constituents of the subjectivity of these students. We consider, equally, the ideological speech of continuous qualification and the appeal of economical success as important elements in the constitution of these young students at contemporarity and their future projects. The theoretical methodology reference on which this research is based is that of the Sociohistorical Psychology, represented by the thought of Vigotski. For that, one focal group and two researches were performed. The analysis done consisted on the agglutination of the pre-indicators, that were systematized in indicators, and when articulated and systematized, were confirmed to us by four core meanings. On these we observed young people with an immense difficulty of self-projecting in the future, presenting dreams which are fluid and have a fragile delimitation. They couple their needs to the material benefits they aim, the earning a living , however they do not visualize concrete ways of reaching such desires. They live on the short term, on the present, on the constant desire to enjoy life, and as a consequence these young people end up having poor dreams, lacking motivation, and are saddened, apathetic and incredulous about the future. But paradoxically, they also present some illusion regarding their diploma from PUC, betting on the qualification of a recognized university as a guarantee to the future

Abstract:
‘The proper place of subjectivity, meaning, and folk psychology in psychiatry’ argues that Steven Hyman’s vision for psychiatry is excessively bioreductive. Hyman wrongly assumes that conceptual mental content is reducible to brain state descriptions and mistakes the neural vehicle of content for the content itself. Once we see that conceptual content, including the referents of folk psychology, shape brain activity, it becomes clear that content itself (or a lack of it) can be pathological. Therefore, treatment will sometimes be effective, even curative, by addressing that content through discursive interaction with the patient qua person. Diagnosis and effective treatment of mental disorders cannot just focus on neurobiology, as Hyman claims, both processes must also consider conceptual content and the complex interactions between content and the neurobiology instantiating it.

Abstract:
The analysis of theories and models of radicalization existing in psychology and sociology is given. The complexity and transitivity of the world, the emerging methodological trends in psychology, the change of postmodern discourse to metamodernism require new psychological approaches to a research of this phenomenon, which can take into account the role of cultural factors and anthropological turn, as well as space and time as ontological constants of reality. Theoretical: theoretical and methodological analysis of scientific literature, comparison, generalization, interpretation. The paper summarizes a number of empirical studies of the authors related to the problems of extremism. The goal is to consider the evolution of ideas about the radicalization of protest activity and substantiate the high relevance of the subject-being approach to explain the problem of extremism. The authors distinguish six main theories and models that reveal the nature of radicalization: the theory of anomy (R. Merton), the theory of "relative deprivation" (T. Garr), the concept of an authoritarian personality (A. Adorno), a model of social identity in collective activity (M. Van Zomeren ), the model of radicalization (R. Borum), the model of radicalization (F. Mohaddam). The authors note the demand for a metamodern methodological strategy, which makes it possible to record personal transformations and construct new images of a person. The authors come to the conclusion that the substantive differences in approaches lie in the influence quantity of external determinants causing the emergence of radical attitudes. In the development of the theme of extremism, the main ones are the principle of the unity of the personality and its being, the methodological principle of subjectivity and the principle of uncertainty, which reveal additional nuances of the phenomenon that increases cognitive capabilities. The conditions of the subject-being approach are considered and the concept of protest activity is presented, based on the notions of "existential personal identity", "subjective activity", "subjectivity", revealing the reasons for negative transformation of personality, considering extremism as a violation of the developing configuration of identity. The subject-being approach to the personality is recognized as the most efficient theoretical and methodological basis for researching this problem, since it allows us to overcome the deficiency of the content given by the deterministic interpretation of radicalization.
