<p> Two studies tested whether reminders of safe sex and risky sex would lead to higher mortality salience, and if that higher mortality salience would lead men who have sex with men to be more sexually risky than men who have sex with women. In this study, authors examined basic psychological needs (namely, competence, autonomy, and relatedness) as potential mediators of the association between sexual assault and depressive symptoms in a sample of 342 college students. Results from conducting a multiple mediation test provided support for partial mediation involving the indirect effects of competence and autonomy. Men’s genital and subjective sexual arousal are category-specific; different sexual stimuli elicit different degrees of arousal.
