Abstract:
The objectives of this research were to study the species diversity and to determine the dominant species of lady bird beetle predators in high land plantation ecosystem in West Sumatera. The samples were taken by hand collection and sweep net. The data of species diversity were analyzed using Shannon-Wiener index, evenness of species were analyzed by Simpson index, and dominant species using important value index. The results showed that there were 91 individuals predator found which consisted of 7 species. The highest species diversity (1.74) and evenness (0.89) were found in Pulau Punjung.

This paper starts by presenting an empirical finding in the U.S. stock market: Between 2001 and 2021, high productivity was achieved when the Shannon evenness—measuring the inverse of concentration—dropped. Conversely, when the Shannon evenness soared, productivity plunged. The same inverse relationship between evenness and productivity has been observed in several ecosystems. This suggests explaining this result by adopting the business ecosystem perspective, i.e., regarding the tangle of interactions between companies as an ecological network, in which companies play the role of species. Avifaunal diversity is the measure of species diversity via species richness and evenness. To this aim, avifaunal survey was conducted in the Institute of Forestry Complex, Hetauda from November 2017 to June 2018. Using line transect and point count methods, 132 species of birds were recorded, representing 15 orders and 44 families. Three species of these birds are in IUCN Red List while 90, 27 and 15 species are residential, visitor and migrant respectively. Higher Shannon diversity index (4.47) and Margalef index (18.78) indicate marked diversity and richness of bird species. A high value ca

This chapter delves into the assessment of nematode biodiversity, which involves investigating the community of these organisms present in a given region. The biodiversity of nematodes can be studied through molecular or conventional approaches. In a conventional method, proper sampling is essential to accurately evaluate biodiversity, and this task is aided by the use of various indices, including Shannon, richness, evenness, and community indices. In the field of molecular biodiversity, researchers can investigate the diversity of nematodes by conducting metagenomic analysis of ribosomal DNA
