AbstractConventional research has credited the Shasu beduins with an urban lifestyle. However, this view is based on a single piece of evidence, a stele of Ramses II from Tell er-Rataba. As the corrrect interpretation is of considerable relevance for neighbouring disciplines of Egyptology, the present article proposes a reassessment of the pertinent text passage.

Abstract:
Introduction: The cause of Seasonal hyperacute panuveitis (SHAPU) also known as seasonal endophthalmitis is not yet confirmed. So far, bacteria have been isolated from the vitreous of three cases, VZV from the aqueous of one case and anellovirus from the vitreous of 30 cases of SHAPU. Its connection with moth is still assumed but not proven yet. Objective: To study the clinical and microbiological features of SHAPU. To find out indirect evidence of it connection with moths.Method: Prospective longitudinal study of all the cases of SHAPU observed at Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology in 2009 and 2010. A detailed ocular examination was performed on each case and vitreous fluid was removed from almost all cases for microbiological study.Result: 66 cases of SHAPU were identified. Most were children. Twenty-three percent reported a recent history of white moth contact. Fine brown hairs, were present in 5 eyes. Bacteria were isolated from the vitreous of 9 eyes, PCR testing of the vitreous of all 48 cases showed no evidence of HSV, VZV or CMV DNA. Twenty of 34 cases (58.8%) who presented within 7 days of onset of symptoms had a final visual acuity ≥ 6/60 whereas 4/25 cases (16.0%) who presented after 7 days had final visual acuity ≥ 6/60 (p=0.001).Conclusion: Herpes group of virus is the less likely cause of SHAPU. Bacteria are found in more cases. Early presentation is associated with a better visual outcome. Role of moth in its pathogenesis is still suspected.

Abstract:
We consider the problem of determinizing and minimizing automata for nested words in practice. For this we compile the nested regular expressions (NREs) from the usual XPath benchmark to nested word automata (NWAs). The determinization of these NWAs, however, fails to produce reasonably small automata. In the best case, huge deterministic NWAs are produced after few hours, even for relatively small NREs of the benchmark. We propose a different approach to the determinization of automata for nested words. For this, we introduce stepwise hedge automata (SHAs) that generalize naturally on both (stepwise) tree automata and on finite word automata. We then show how to determinize SHAs, yielding reasonably small deterministic automata for the NREs from the XPath benchmark. The size of deterministic SHAs automata can be reduced further by a novel minimization algorithm for a subclass of SHAs. In order to understand why the new approach to determinization and minimization works so nicely, we investigate the relationship between NWAs and SHAs further. Clearly, deterministic SHAs can be compiled to deterministic NWAs in linear time, and conversely NWAs can be compiled to nondeterministic SHAs in polynomial time. Therefore, we can use SHAs as intermediates for determinizing NWAs, while avoiding the huge size increase with the usual determinization algorithm for NWAs. Notably, the NWAs obtained from the SHAs perform bottom-up and left-to-right computations only, but no top-down computations. This NWA behavior can be distinguished syntactically by the (weak) single-entry property, suggesting a close relationship between SHAs and single-entry NWAs. In particular, it turns out that the usual determinization algorithm for NWAs behaves well for single-entry NWAs, while it quickly explodes without the single-entry property. Furthermore, it is known that the class of deterministic multi-module single-entry NWAs enjoys unique minimization. The subclass of deterministic SHAs to which our novel minimization algorithm applies is different though, in that we do not impose multiple modules. As further optimizations for reducing the sizes of the constructed SHAs, we propose schema-based cleaning and symbolic representations based on apply-else rules that can be maintained by determinization. We implemented the optimizations and report the experimental results for the automata constructed for the XPathMark benchmark.

Abstract:
Despite a well-documented need for school health programs (SHPs) among schoolchildren, there is little school health funding in California and limited research on the role of those who manage SHPs. This qualitative study investigated the work of a selected group of school health administrators (SHAs) in California. Study aims were to explore SHA job pathways and responsibilities, the contextual factors influencing their work, and how they get their work done, given limited funding for SHPs. Thirty in-depth, semistructured interviews were conducted with SHAs and their staff, supervisors, and deputy SHAs. The main themes and subthemes are (1) district hierarchies marginalize SHAs and (2) in response to this marginalization, SHAs engage in brokering strategies to get their work done, including (a) raising awareness, (b) cultivating powerful allies, and (c) adjusting to working conditions. Despite structural disempowerment, SHAs have developed strategies to secure political support for SHPs and school nurses.

Abstract:
AbstractThe status of Smart Home Appliances (SHAs) in the smart home industry has been raised as major components of a smart home. To design a good SHA, diverse stakeholders in the smart home ecosystem need to have a common understanding of smart homes and SHAs. However, the studies on what they are, especially those reflecting practitioners’ point of view, have been scarce. In this research, we conducted systematic literature reviews and practitioner interviews using the concept mapping method to identify the attributes of SHAs depending both on academia and industry. In addition, we suggest a framework of the smart home ecosystem which describes how those attributes are revealed in the relationships among SHAs, users, and external stakeholders.Since all of the interviewees are Korean SHA development professionals, the findings from this research could have been limited to the current status of the Korean SHA industry. Nonetheless, we expect that this research would contribute to building a consensus on what smart homes and SHAs are and provide the designers and developers of SHAs with systematic perspectives on smart homes.

Abstract:
Student health advocates (SHAs) are high school students who, under the supervision of the school nurse, provide health education and health promotion activities to other students via a peer education model. This 3-year follow-up study explored how the SHA experience influences career choice and attitudes of the participants. It also examined what motivates students to become SHAs, the benefits and drawbacks of SHA participation, how SHA involvement influenced career plans, and how SHAs perceive the role of the school nurse. Study results indicate that this innovative health education/promotion experience offered an opportunity for SHAs to express their interest in health and enhanced their sense of belonging, meaningful involvement, connection to learning, and caring relationships in the school setting.

Abstract:
In 1975, our team encountered several cases of severe inflammatory eye disease presenting as a white pupil in a red eye with rapid loss of vision. The eyes became soft within a few days with shallow anterior chamber which we called “Malignant Hypotension” in view of the latter’s sinister significance. Unilaterally, little or no pain, predominantly affecting children and difficulty in dilating the pupil and keeping it dilated were some of the other important features. Posterior segment was not visible due to massive exudation in vitreous. Microbiological investigations of aqueous humor did not retrieve any bacterial or fungal organisms. All eyes became pthisical in few weeks despite treatment with topical and subconjunctival antibiotics and steroids. Similar cases appeared again after two years in 1977 with identical presentation and outcome. Both out breaks began during September and lasted until about January- the next year.

Abstract:
IntroductionShabu is a crystal methamphetamine whose consumption is common among the community of Philippine immigrants in Spain.ObjectivesTo describe the sociodemographic, healthcare and clinical characteristics of patients using shabu who have been treated by the psychiatry and addiction department of a tertiary hospital.MethodsWe describe the cases of patients treated in the psychiatry and addiction department of the hospital del Mar in Barcelona, Spain with methamphetamine use disorder. We collected sociodemographic variables, monitoring features and psychiatric comorbidity from the review of medical records.ResultsTen cases of patients with severe use disorder of shabu were identified. Eight patients are from the Philippines. Nine are men (90%). At the beginning of the medical follow-up the average age was 30 years (21–41 years). All of them reported being unemployed. Four patients were referred urgently to the hospital from an ambulatory care center, two belonged to a specific program for children and adolescents, two were treated at the emergency department and two were assessed during their admissions in other departments. Regarding clinical characteristics, six had associated psychiatric disorders: two have paranoid schizophrenia, two had induced psychotic episode, one had unspecified psychosis and other had conduct disorder.ConclusionsShabu is a drug that the Philippine community in Spain consumes in their daily life in a social context. However, consumption of this drug could be linked to the onset of psychotic symptoms. Registration is necessary to standardize the consumption pattern in order to establish a relationship between consumption and the appearance of psychotic and organic symptoms.Disclosure of interestThe authors have not supplied their declaration of competing interest.

Abstract:
A thermopile device with sub-wavelength hole array (SHA) is numerically and experimentally investigated. The infrared absorbance (IRA) effect of SHAs in active area of the thermopile device is clearly analyzed by the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. The prototypes are manufactured by the 0.35 μm 2P4M complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor micro-electro-mechanical-systems (CMOS-MEMS) process in Taiwan semiconductor manufacturing company (TSMC). The measurement results of those prototypes are similar to their simulation results. Based on the simulation technology, more sub-wavelength hole structural effects for IRA of such thermopile device are discussed. It is found from simulation results that the results of SHAs arranged in a hexagonal shape are significantly better than the results of SHAs arranged in a square and the infrared absorption efficiencies (IAEs) of specific asymmetric rectangle and elliptical hole structure arrays are higher than the relatively symmetric square and circular hole structure arrays. The overall best results are respectively up to 3.532 and 3.573 times higher than that without sub-wavelength structure at the target temperature of 60 °C when the minimum structure line width limit of the process is ignored. Obviously, the IRA can be enhanced when the SHAs are considered in active area of the thermopile device and the structural optimization of the SHAs is absolutely necessary.

Abstract:
In performing noise analyses, noise measurement equipment and noise predictive models usually report noise levels in tenths of a decibel. Customarily, these levels are reported as whole decibel numbers in state highway agencies’ noise reports. However, there is not a consistent rounding method used by state highway agencies (SHAs) that is applied to these levels in noise level calculations, in noise abatement feasibility and reasonableness evaluations, and in the reporting of results in SHA noise study reports. The objective is not to recommend one method of rounding, but to discuss the influence that several rounding methods may have on decisions regarding the feasibility and reasonableness of noise abatement devices and to offer recommendations and suggestions for SHAs to consider when determining the number of impacted receptors, calculating a noise barrier’s insertion loss, determining the number of benefited receptors, weighting benefited receptors, addressing noise reduction design goals, and calculating cost–benefit values. Nine recommendations are presented for consideration by SHAs, and rounding-related factors are suggested for consideration by SHAs in the modification of any noise policy or guidance document.

Abstract:
This study tested the hypothesis that lucerne (Medicago sativa L.) populations selected in solution culture high in aluminium (Al) would increase seedling root growth when grown in an acid soil high in exchangeable Al. Root growth of six elite populations (Aurora C2, UQL-1 C2, T02-011 C1, T02-011 C2, A513 C3 and Sardi 7 C2) selected in high-Al solution culture (SHASC) was compared with that of corresponding parent as well as the Georgia acid soil-tolerant populations in an acid soil in pots grown for 8 days under controlled environmental conditions. Lime was added to the soil to provide contrasts in the severity of stress imposed by low pH and high Al. Averaged across six SHASC populations, total root length increased 19% at pH 4.34 in CaCl2 (35% exchangeable Al) and 26% at pH 5.26 (<1% exchangeable Al) compared with the control populations. At all pH levels SHASC populations showed increased tap root length, total root length (includes lateral roots), root weight and root surface area, but decreased average root diameter compared with the six control populations. A large amount of variability was observed both between and within lucerne populations with three SHASC populations (Aurora C2, UQL-1 C2 and Sardi 7 C2) exhibiting increased root growth at lower pH levels, but little increase in root length at higher pH, consistent with increased tolerance to Al toxicity. This was in contrast to three other SHASC populations (T02-011 C1, T02-011 C2 and A513 C3), which exhibited increased root length at all pH levels, consistent with increased seedling vigour. The Sardi 7 C2 population exhibited the greatest increase in tap root growth with tap root length increasing by 40 and 30% at pH 4.34 and 4.48, respectively, compared with its parent population Sardi 7. This study provides evidence that seedlings of lucerne populations selected in high-Al solution culture can confer significantly improved root and shoot growth in acid soil. It is recommended that such screening be incorporated into lucerne breeding programs to reduce costs in space and time.

Abstract:
The article presents the rationale and description of approaches to the development and implementation of the regional concept of support for schools with low learning outcomes (SHNOR) and schools operating in unfavorable social conditions (SHNSU). Here is shown the relevance, the main social and social significance of the support for SHNOR and SHNSU in modern conditions on the basis of a theoretical analysis of the results of international and Russian studies. The factors that determine low educational results and the risk of educational failure in modern schools are fixed. The essence of the concepts «difficult social conditions», «effective school operation», «school with low learning outcomes» and «school operating in unfavorable social conditions» is revealed, clustering of schools is shown. The arguments for the need for a comprehensive solution to the problem of improving the quality of education in modern schools at the level of the region, municipality, secondary schools are described using the experience of the Yaroslavl region. The main provisions of the regional concept of support for SHNOR and SHNSU are presented: goal; tasks; principles; a set of criteria and indicators for assessing the effectiveness of schools; a set of activities aimed at supporting schools; and expected results. The groups of indicators are fixed according to the following criteria: a general integral criterion for the sustainability of students' educational results; school social welfare index; the level of professional competence of teaching staff; additional variable indicators for the SHNOR group and the SHNSU group. A set of measures to support schools has been substantiated, including the organization of activities for: developing regional programs and models for supporting schools; identification of SHNOR and SHNSU; identification of professional needs and deficiencies of teachers; development and implementation of regional and municipal programs to support schools, school programs for the transition to an effective mode of operation; creation of regional and municipal infrastructure for supporting schools and a system of targeted methodological support; the conclusion of partnership agreements; professional development of municipal and school teams, teachers; monitoring the implementation of regional and municipal programs to support schools.

Abstract:
Dermatoglyphics is a science to determine a pattern both from fingerprints, triradius, tendrils, and the Axial Triradius Digital (ATD) angle. Nowadays, it is can be used in ethnhobiology, forensic or to determine the pattern the disease or disorder. Research on dermatoglyphics is still needs study. Today, research on fingerprint patterns, especially in drug cases is still very limited, so that research is conducted to find out what is the dominance of the fingerprint pattern and ATD angle in people with drug cases. The research was conducted in the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of South Sumatra and the Cahaya Putra Rehabilitation Foundation in Palembang, South Sumatra. Samples were carried out by total sampling from the two places was 30 peoples, all of whom were drug users of the type of methamphetamine. Fingerprint pattern data were collected using the U.Are.U Digital Personal tool. Fingerprint reader attaches the fingerprints of the ten fingers, while the ATD angle calculation is done by smearing lipstick on both palms of the sample and pasting them on the observation sheet. The data obtained were analyzed, and the results for the fingerprint patterns were at most with a whorl pattern of 99 fingers (41.25%). Whereas for the ATD angle, the highest results were obtained at angles> 50o from both hands as many as 14 people (58.3%). The conclusion of this study is the most dermatoglyphic characteristics of drug users are whorl patterns with an ATD angle> 50o.

Abstract:
State highway agencies (SHAs) in New England have an ongoing interest in providing the public with smoother rides. As an incentive to contractors, some SHAs include a bonus and penalty clause for new construction based on profile measurements and smoothness indices. These states are considering the use of high-speed profilers for profile measurements and quality control/quality assurance implementation. Therefore, an assessment of the accuracy and repeatability of these devices is essential. A comparative study of high-speed profilers owned by the New England SHAs was conducted in Worcester, Massachusetts. Two sites were profiled using the dipstick and the high-speed profiling devices. Statistical analysis of International Roughness Index measurements were used for evaluation of precision and bias, profiler speed, and sensor type. The repeatability for the profilers was good, especially for combined wheel paths (standard deviation between 0.016 and 0.079 m/km). The accuracy for the profilers varied depending on profiler type.

Abstract:
AbstractBACKGROUNDThe use of high-definition endoscopes in extended transsphenoidal approaches to the suprasellar area has significantly improved visualization of its vascularization.OBJECTIVETo systematically examine the superior hypophyseal arteries (SHAs) anatomy from an endonasal endoscopic perspective.METHODSThe endoscopic endonasal transsphenoidal trans-tuberculum approach was performed in 19 adult, fresh and latex injected specimens. Dissections recordings were reviewed to analyze SHAs type, number, and branches, as well as internal carotid arteries (ICA) branches that vascularized optic nerves and chiasm.RESULTSIdentification of SHAs was possible in all specimens (37/38 sides). The number of SHAs varied from 1 to 3 per side (mean: 1.7). The anterior superior hypophyseal artery was visible in almost all cases (35/37 sides) and originated at the level of the carotid cave in 18/35 specimens; number of branches ranged from 1 to 6 (mean: 3.5), directed to the optic nerve (86%), chiasm (57%), infundibulum (86%), and/or parallel to the pituitary stalk (74%). The 4 main branches and patterns, originally described by McConnell in 1953, were confirmed. The posterior superior hypophyseal artery was evident in 28/37 sides with number of branches ranging from 0 to 4 (mean: 2.1), directed to the optic chiasm (50%), optic tract (32%), infundibulum (79%), and/or pituitary stalk (36%). The surgical implications of this study, together with anatomical and clinical videos, are also briefly discussed.CONCLUSIONSHAs constitute a complex of anterior and posterior branches that stem from the medial ICA with different patterns, vascularizing the optic apparatus and pituitary stalk.

Abstract:
In this paper, the culture and origins of the Shau Aborigines of Sun Moon Lake in Central Taiwan are examined. Conclusions presented in this article depend on clues from documents and long-term observation, that reveal that the characteristics of the Shau Aborigines are quite different from those of other aboriginal inhabitants of Taiwan. They lived on islands for a long time, were good at trading, and had a high material living standard, versatile language, and facial features similar to Western people. It is assumed from many reasonable interpretations of questions concerning their cultural characteristics that they may be descended from Dutch preachers and their families in Shaulon, Tainan, who married local Pingpu Aborigines. The Shau fled from Soulang when Zheng Chen-Kung (also known as Coxinja) attacked in 1661, moving to Mattauw, then to Dorcko, Tilaossen, and finally to Lehyee, the territory of Chou Aborigines, where they settled at Laichi for a time. When they discovered Sun Moon Lake, they moved to its island where they are today.

Abstract:
Background Small scale shared housing arrangements (SHAs) is a deinstitutionalized model of care designed to resemble a typical home of <10 people and are increasingly available for persons with neurocognitive disorders of the Alzheimer's and related types (NCD). However, there is little aggregate evidence of their effect on persons with NCD thus, a literature review was performed. Methods Database searches were conducted across CINAHL Complete, OTseeker, PubMed, Ovid, Academic One File, ProQuest Nursing and Allied Health, the World Wide Web and Google Scholar using the several key words that included neurocognitive disorders, Alzheimer's, dementia, quality of life, well-being, occupational performance, activities of daily living, small scale shared housing, sheltered housing and group homes. Bibliographic references from final articles were also examined. Selection criteria involved three steps: screening perspective articles by title and abstract, assessing full text for eligibility and finally, reviewing full-texts. Results 16 studies were selected for final review where most found the association of SHAs with various occupational performance indicators unique to the NCD population better than or equal to controls (traditional models of long term care). A small minority of studies had mixed or inconclusive results. No study found SHAs necessarily worse than controls. Conclusion The SHA model has many benefits for person's with NCD and may be especially advantageous for those in the early stages of the disease process. The occupational therapy profession should continue to raise awareness of SHAs and consider ecological theory as a valid basis for their expansion.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT We present a 23 deg2 weak gravitational lensing survey of the Shapley supercluster core and its surroundings using gri VST images as part of the Shapley Supercluster Survey (ShaSS). This study reveals the overall matter distribution over a region containing 11 clusters at z ∼ 0.048 that are all interconnected, as well as several ongoing cluster–cluster interactions. Galaxy shapes have been measured by using the Kaiser–Squires–Broadhurst method for the g- and r-band images and background galaxies were selected via the gri colour–colour diagram. This technique has allowed us to detect all of the clusters, either in the g- or r-band images, although at different σ levels, indicating that the underlying dark matter distribution is tightly correlated with the number density of the member galaxies. The deeper r-band images have traced the five interacting clusters in the supercluster core as a single coherent structure, confirmed the presence of a filament extending North from the core, and have revealed a background cluster at z ∼ 0.17. We have measured the masses of the four richest clusters (A3556, A3558, A3560, and A3562) in the two-dimensional shear pattern, assuming a spherical Navarro–Frenk–White profile and obtaining a total mass of $\mathcal {M}_{\rm ShaSS,WL}{=}1.56^{+0.81}_{-0.55}{\times }10^{15\, }{\rm M}_{\odot }$, which is consistent with dynamical and X-ray studies. Our analysis provides further evidence of the ongoing dynamical evolution in the ShaSS region.

Abstract:
Objectives This study aimed to assess the trends and regional variations in secondary care treatment of patients with varicose veins in National Health Service (NHS) England based on data published by the Hospital Episode Statistics which was freely and readily available to the public and health-care policy-makers. Methods Hospital Episode Statistics data for patients being treated for varicose veins, and UK Statistics Authority population estimates in all 28 Strategic Health Authorities (SHAs) in England from 2002 to 2006 were retrieved and analysed. Results Between 2002 and 2006 there was a 20% overall reduction (46,190–37,135) in the total number of varicose vein procedures performed in NHS England per year. The number of varicose vein procedures performed per 100,000 population per year varied significantly across the SHAs ( P < 0.0001). Similarly, significant regional variations were also noted in the frequency of primary procedures of greater and small saphenous vein ( P < 0.0001). During this time, injection sclerotherapy was only performed in 15 (53.6%) SHAs. The annual proportion of varicose vein procedures performed as daycases had increased from 56% to 64% during the period. Conclusion From 2002 to 2006 there was an overall reduction in the total number of varicose vein procedures performed in NHS England with major regional variations.

Abstract:
This paper aims to examine the phonological changes in the Shaowu dialect as spoken in northwestern Fujian during the past 100 years. The study is based upon a close comparison of two recordings, produced by Rev. Joseph E. Walker (Shauu K'iong Loma T'se, 1887) and Chen Zhangtai et al. (Minyu Yanjiu, 1991), respectively. A wordlist in full romanization, Shauu K'iong Loma T'se (hereafter LMT) contains 1,589 readings of both colloquial and literary forms in the Shaowu dialect. The phonological system as shown in LMT displays several phonological peculiarities that have disappeared in the modern recording. For instances, (1) medial - u- appears after alveolar and bilabial stops; and (2) vowel -μ appears after alveolar affricatives and fricatives. All these discrepancies are interpreted as phonological changes; and nine rules are designed to account for the development. It is found that some of these changes were induced by the prestigious neighboring Gan dialects. As a result, the Shaowu dialect and the Gan dialects became increasingly alike in the past century.
