Abstract:
Albert Einstein is one indisputable luminary who in my opinion exemplifies the balance, brilliance, and altruism I look for in my heroes. Subsequent to his dream of riding a beam of light to the edge of the universe, with the tools of calculus and physics, he radically changed our understanding of the universe. But the dream came first, and everybody dreams.I believe everyone has something incredible to offer. In my creative project paintings I attempt to demonstrate with the tools of paint and canvas my peculiar dream of the cosmos from macrocosm to microcosm.I ride the beam of light using paint and canvas, in my creative project paintings I celebrate my fascination with that intuitive element we all share. I also celebrate those who have gone before with the wisdom to seek an understanding and discernment of the genius we all share, have access to, and indeed must thoughtfully and carefully awaken for our species to evolve past its current halting material, ideological, and technological adolescence.
Department of Art

Sharar, Zain. "A comparative analysis of the corporate governance legislative frameworks in Australia and Jordan measured against the OECD Principles of Corporate Governance 2004 as an international benchmark." ePublications@bond, 2006. http://epublications.bond.edu.au/theses/sharar.

Full text
Abstract:
In recent years, countries across the globe have come to realise the importance of an official corporate governance regime, which provides a platform for market integrity and efficiency, as well as facilitating economic growth. Formulating effective corporate governance measures is a complex task for legislators. The purpose of this paper is to provide an in depth analysis and comparison of the corporate governance legislative frameworks in Australia and Jordan. In 2004, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), in conjunction with national and international governmental organisations, finalised a universal set of corporate governance principles. Although non-binding, the OECD Principles 2004 are a serious attempt to strengthen every aspect of corporate governance and, accordingly, have been utilised in this paper as an international benchmark. The ultimate objective of this paper is to formulate a number of detailed and specific recommendations to the Jordanian Government. Jordan’s legislative framework for corporations received a significant shake-up a decade ago when the Jordanian Government began the process of implementing a privatisation program under the guidance of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. Despite a number of positive developments since this program was initiated, the Jordanian Government has continually failed to recognise the importance of promoting good corporate governance. There can be no doubt that the Jordanian companies’ legislation is in desperate need of reform. The vast majority of the provisions are ambiguous and lack the necessary detail to regulate the complex sphere of company law. In this writer’s opinion, the relevant authorities in Jordan must act immediately to bring the country’s legislative regime into line with internationally recognised standards and practices. Chapter 1 of the paper sets out an introductory explanation of corporate governance and corporate structure. Chapter 2 provides a brief account of the history of company law in Jordan and a description of the different types of company structures permitted under the relevant Jordanian legislation. Chapter 3 provides a detailed discussion of the corporate governance principles formulated by the OECD. The process began in 1999 and was completed in 2004 after extensive revision and consultation. Chapter 4, the core part of the paper, presents a comparative analysis of the implementation of the OECD principles in Australia and Jordan. Chapter 5 provides an explanation and analysis of two important shareholders’ remedies in the Australian companies’ legislation that do not exist in Jordan. Finally, Chapter 6 provides a summary of analysis and sets out a list of recommendations to the Jordanian Government.

Abstract:
This report is both a users guide and a programmers manual for running and modifying the program SHAMAT, an interactive matrix calculator. The program is written in Turbo Pascal version 3.0 for MS-DOS computers. This software enables the user to type in matrix equations for solving statistical problems such as multiple regression, analysis of variance, etc. All matrix operations necessary for linear models analysis are included in this program. Since each operation uses a separate subroutine, program enhancement, modification and updating is demonstrated to be easy.

Abstract:
This lively poem, one of several hundred collected in Mombasa at the end of the nineteenth century by W.E T AYLOR thanks to Mwalimu SIKUJUWA bin ABDALLAH ai-BAIAWI (Frankl, 1993), is preserved in Volume Ill of the Taylor Papers, now in the library of the School of Oriental & African Studies (SOAS) in London.. lt consists of two versions - both in Arabic script (SOAS MS 47754); the first (Section X, page 4) is probably in the hand of ABDALLAH bin RASHID and has fifteen stanzas, while the second (Section Z, page 161) is in the hand of Mwalimu SIKUJUWA (one of T AYLOR\'s two Swahili teachers) and has twenty-one stanzas .. The entire text of version X is to be found in Z, although not in the same order. Version Z has thus six additional stanzas, and we have had no hesitation in selecting it as the text for this article (the manuscript having been most probably commissioned by TAYLOR).

It is one of the three rituals celebrated by jews on the day separated to rest e prays, where the songs and prays still can be heard on local synagogue. The search gathered informations from the Isaac Shachnick Synagogue, in the Centro Israelita de Pernambuco (CIP), and on the Synagogue Kahal Zur Israel Museum, the first synagogue of Brazil, where today is the Jewish Historian Archive of Pernambuco, where are preserved, ocasionally, the ceremonies of Shabat. Departing from the perspective of musical cultural study this work intend to understand the music as cultural behavior and verify the task of this religious practice to their fellowers, trying to situate the music in its sociocultural context. According to the local information, we have nearly 100 fellowers of the Shabat, what represent 10% of the jewish community in Recife. We not only registered the special repertorie sung on the local synagogues, but the study begins with the historic construction of the social group, going to the negociations of the permanencies e adaptation of the cultural traces, specially musical, until reach the reflection over the relevance of this religious tradition. After confirmed the close conection between shabatic music and the jewish identity, that helps to keep the ethical stability and the social union of the ethnical group, the work wants to contribute to the discussions about the ethnicity and the cultural behavior of Immigrant, reaching a more broad aspect, as the Social Science.
