Summary: European supervisors aggressively requested more capital at large banks. That may cut credit to the economy. We confirm that especially larger banks cut loans while less-significant banks partly offset that credit drop. Moreover, we identify nasty spillovers from that interaction. Specifically, larger banks’ deleveraging was associated with significant portfolio worsening for mid-sized banks. We conjecture that while small banks’ loan expansion was somewhat shielded by superior soft-information-based technologies, medium-sized banks were fully exposed to lending to bad borrowers as th

Abstract: Alzheimer's disease (AD), an inexorable neurodegenerative ailment marked by cognitive impairment and neuropsychiatric manifestations, stands as the foremost prevailing form of dementia in the geriatric population. Its pathological signs include the aggregation of amyloid proteins, hyperphosphorylation of tau proteins, and the consequential loss of neural cells. The etiology of AD has prompted the formulation of numerous conjectures, each endeavoring to elucidate its pathogenesis. While a subset of therapeutic agents has displayed clinical efficacy in AD patients, a significant propor

Summary The Red Sea Passive Margin (RSPM) in SW Saudi Arabia is characterized by two morphological provinces; the Red Sea Coastal Plains (RSCP) and the Hijaz-Asir Escarpment Zone (HAEZ) at the Arabian Shield Edge (ASE). Of these, the HAEZ is conspicuous by its seaward-facing heights of > 3 km. Based on the available Receiver Function analysis (REF) results from 25 seismic stations, we first present the Moho relief map underlying the RSPM to demonstrate that: (i) the transitional crust under the coastal region is 20-25 km thick which steadily increases landward to attain a thickness of ∼

AbstractTen-year worth of absolute gravity (AG) campaigns at Onsala Space Observatory (OSO), Sweden, are simultaneously reduced using synchronous data from a superconducting gravimeter (SG). In this multi-campaign adjustment, the a priori models commonly applied for each setup in AG-alone experiments are sidestepped in favour of SG records and a model to estimate its drift. We obtain a residual (hourly samples) at the 5 nm/s$$^2$$ 2 RMS level, reducing the SG data with a range of ancillary data for the site’s exposure to ocean and atmospheric loading, and hydrology effects. <em>The petrographic study has been well carried out in order to understand the mineralogical and geochemical characteristics of the Nari Formation at &ldquo;Gandri Jabal&rdquo; section near Nooriabad, Jamshoro. The formations were found to be mainly composed of sandstone, limestone, shale and variegated clays in the studied section. Sandstones are compact to semi-compact, ferruginous, fine to coarse grained and range from pinkish, reddish, brownish to camel in color. It was unusual that one bed of camel colored limestone with maga fossils was observed in the upper part of the formation. Petro

In disallowing the inaccuracies of memory to infiltrate stories of war, one condemns oneself to remain forever blinded by the obvious, shielded from the invisible violence that often lurks beneath the visible. Following Žižek, this article posits that invisible violence should be glimpsed indirectly, through aesthetic representations often excluded from the annals of the official history of war. The argument is made through a close reading of Joe Sacco&rsquo;s representation of the 1956 Khan Younis massacre as depicted in Footnotes in Gaza. In this paper, theory-jamming is suggested as an antidote for the confusion and disarray that typifies communication theory. Communicatio

Abstract We begin with the idea of the circle. Jung suggests that what led psychologists to conjecture “an archetype of wholeness, i.e. the self . . . are in the first place, dreams and visions, in the second place, products of active imagination in which symbols of wholeness appear. The most important of these are geometrical structures containing elements of the circle and quaternity “ The notion of the circle, as an archetype of the self, of a self that is also whole, of wholeness—in fact—as self, is of great interest when placed beside Native American building structures, works of art, art
