This research was a step forward in investigating the characteristics of recycled concrete aggregates to use as an unbound pavement material. The results present the guidelines for successfully application of recycled concrete aggregates in high traffic volume roads. This doctoral research presents the results of a pioneering archaeological enquiry in the Shira region of Bauchi State, northeastern Nigeria. The prime aims of this work in what is a hitherto uninvestigated region are to sketch out an occupational sequence and to characterise past materiahl culture. Shira is renowned for being the earliest established settlement (12th to 19th century AD) in present-day northern Bauchi region and it lies on a primary trade route linking two important precolonial polities, the Bornu Empire and the Hausa city-states; as well as connecting with the Adamawa region.

The SHIRA method of Mehrmann and Watkins belongs among the structure preserving Krylov subspace methods for solving skew-Hamiltonian eigenvalue problems. Consisting of three distinct volcanic centres, Shira, Mawenzi and Kibo, Shira contains the highest proportion of mafic rocks. This dissertation is a study of the intellectual history of Ṣadr al-Dīn Dashtakī (d. 903/1498) and Ghiyāath al-Dīn Dashtakī (d. 949/1542), two important Shirazi philosophers and Shi'i thinkers who lived in the late Timurid and early Safavid period. It argues that Avicennan philosophy was revived and provided with a new impetus at a time when it was under attack by Ash'ari thinkers belonging to the later tradition. Developed a new method of measuring glycoside concentration in grapes (glycosyl-glucose assay) and a modified measurement of wine colour density in red wine. Aim: To identify the incidence of and risk factors for mastitis, and to investigate breastfeeding practices in Shiraz, Iran. Method: 700 mothers were recruited after delivery and followed-up to 26 weeks. Results: Incidence of mastitis was 18.6%. C-section and not experiencing skin to skin contact were predictive of delayed initiation of breastfeeding, in-hospital formula use and prelacteal feeding. Using a pacifier was the strongest predictor of shorter duration of exclusive, full and any breastfeeding.

The topic of this thesis is the literary career of Shimao Toshio, as far as possible considered as a whole.
