The empirical focus of this thesis is the creative practice of a select number of contemporary British based high fashion women's shoe designers. The research responds to an existing gap in theoretical debates on fashion, in particular shoes, as to what creativity in design entails. Based upon a twenty month long ethnography with twenty three shoe designers and other informants, my thesis contributes original knowledge of what shoe designers do to create shoes. Especially when it is a fine quality of shoes which will be more likely to preserve with good care. Yet, a majority of the people do not understand the importance of the shoe care. Some people are even suffering from the uncomfortable shoes because of the design. The shoe care products, such as shoe stretcher or shoe tree have been appeared on the market to help with the discomfort for a long time. However, no

At the same time, product development life cycle is shortened as well. For those who want to catch up with the global trend, strengthen their leading status in consumers’ minds, and to increase customer satisfaction, the only way to make an efficient use of enterprise resources and enhance competitiveness is engaging in process re-engineering and adopting systematic information management

One of the solutions is to retrieve energy from human daily life, and to convert it into electric energy for further storage and utilization. Literatures showed that heel strike of walking is that the better way to recycle human energy. During heel strike, the force of almost 1.2 times body weight will be produced under the foot, and it can be used to drive the power generator to generate t

They not only show the shape and the fashion of the shoes, but also directly affect the comfort as people wear the shoes. The shoe last must be designed and manufactured by the anthropometry which is concerned with the shape and the function of the human feet. Because of the difference of each one’s unique feet, the shoe lasts which are designed within the standard specifications would not completely fit them. As a result, Computer Aided Design(CAD)and related computerized systems have been widely accepted and applied in the industry. This has made the design and development of new molds easier and with less time required, and its place in the production line indispensable. Many products on the market today, such as automobiles, toys, shoes, home appliances, computers, etc., all have “free-form surface.” The molds were desi

Traditionally, a shoe last is designed by using numerous foot measure data. Among all of the items of foot measure information, the foot length and joint girth are further identified as principle factors affecting shoe last design. In this paper, foot length and joint girth were analyzed by using a bi-variate normal distribution to obtain a more efficient foot size grading system.
