Abstract:
The film "Capciptop" is a short film produced through a collaboration between Ravacana Films and Heinz ABC Indonesia, aimed at promoting ABC sauce with spicy onion flavor. Heinz ABC Indonesia partnered with Ravacana Films, known for its credibility in film production, including the viral "Tilik" with 28 million viewers on the Ravacana Film YouTube channel. This served as the basis for Heinz ABC Indonesia to promote its production through the short film titled "Capciptop," uploaded on the ABC Indonesia and Ravacana Film YouTube channels. The research method used in this study is qualitative descriptive. The goal of this research is to understand how Ravacana Films manages the production to promote ABC products, from pre-production to post-production processes. Data collection techniques include interviews, observations, and documentations. The results of this study show that Capciptop films in the pre-production stage use the idea discovery, planning, and preparation stages. At the production stage, Ravacana Films not entirely referred to the script and improvised with what was in the production location environment. In the post-production stage, Ravacana Films worked according to their usual workflow. The conclusion is that Ravacana Films as a Production House has succeeded in fulfilling client requests in this production and still has principles in the managing of film production.

Abstract:
Many literary works, such as novels and short stories, have been transformed into works in the form of audio-visual or film. This results in a dualism between enthusiasts of both types of works. Many enthusiasts of original works (novels) are disappointed with the results of the transfer of media to films. However, some people are satisfied with the transfer of the media, even preferring the film version to the original novel. A collection of short stories entitled Rectoverso by Dee Lestari which was transferred into a film has received a lot of praise. A collection of short stories and films are equally able to achieve the attention of the public. The two versions of Rectoverso's works have also received many awards national and international. Thus, this makes researchers interested in studying one of the short stories in Rectiverso entitled Malaikat Juga Tahu and a short film version with the same title. This research aims to find out the differences in the elements of the work of Malaikat Juga Tahu in the form of a short story and short film and to find out how the short story of Malaikat Juga Tahu is narrowed, elaborated and varied to be presented in a short film. This research used a qualitative method with the use of Pamusuk Eneste's ecranization theory as an analytical tool. The results of this research indicate changes in aspects of expansion, narrowing and variations of stories from short stories to short films. These changes were made to make the audience more immersed in the story by adding dramatic elements. In addition, the visualization element that is prioritized in the film version demands changes in the story version so that it is more acceptable to the audience.

Abstract:
With the rapid expansion of the Internet and media in the present era, an increasing number of individuals like to relax by viewing a movie in their leisure time. People prefer to watch short videos rather than long movies, thanks to the rapid increase of short videos and self-media. This study investigates the motivators that drive short filmmakers to create each short film, as well as the real reasons why directors choose to make short films. Exploring the stories behind short films is critical for the future of short films. As they move forward, filmmakers should discover the core of existence from the past, rather than filming for the sake of shooting. In addition to exploring filmmakers, this paper conducts some audience research while viewing short films in order to explore the impact of audience behavior on the development of the entire short film business.

Abstract:
The role of teachers in EFL/ESL classroom is very important for the improvement of the students since it is believed that professional and creative English teachers can help students in learning English well. However, many teachers still lack the effort in finding new ideas and in improving their professionalism as a good English teacher. Yet, with the development of technology nowadays, many media are worth to be considered in teaching English. One of the media that is being actively mentioned in educational world nowadays is short film. In this case, short film is believed to be one of the appropriate ways in teaching English especially in teaching the character education presented in it. With short film, students can have more exposure to authentic English and the culture of the target language. But another important benefit is often overlooked by teachers, that is the possibility of learning values for building the students’ characters through the use of short film in the learning process. This present paper will try to respond to this fact by identifying the values of character educations in a short film entitled Piper from Pixar animation through textual analysis. There are character educations that revealed about parenting, self-supporting, and friendship value in the film. Thus, it can be concluded that when chosen correctly, short films can be a media for building students’ characters while developing their English, all in a more entertaining, relaxed, and enjoyable media that meet the students’ 21st century contexts.

Abstract:
This thesis was made with the goal of creating a 2D short film in the end, with mainly using a program that is not normally used for character animation: Adobe After Effects. With the usage of an originally French plugin called DuIK Bassel (v16.0.9), I was able to create a model in Adobe Photoshop and then put it into After Effects. When the files were imported, the plugin would then assist in the rigging process, wherein I would be able to create the character’s rig and make the 2D model within the program. This document discusses the entire creation of the short film that I progressed through, from the storyboarding, character creation, rigging process, and putting the elements together.

Abstract:
This is a collection of short stories and memories from the eight places that I have lived. Through these stories and memories, I reflect on themes of identity and community. I also consider the idea of home: what defines a home, how we make a place feel like a home, and what transforms a city or a town into a home. Each chapter also includes my own original designs and photographs. The stories about Sharon and Westwood, small towns in Massachusetts, focus on childhood and familial relationships. The narratives about St. Louis, Missouri and Toluca Lake, California, consider the transition from childhood to adulthood. Meanwhile, the memories from Claremont, California, Silver Lake, California and Santa Monica, California all meditate on the idea of belonging. Lastly, the recollections from London, England, contemplate how a foreign city can become a home.

Abstract:
Fanvids, or vids, are short videos created in media fandom. Made from television and film sources, they are neither television episodes nor films; they resemble music videos but are non-commercial fanworks that construct creative and critical analyses of existing media. The creators of fanvids-called vidders-are predominantly women, whose vids prompt questions about media historiography and pleasures taken from screen media. Vids remake narratives for an attentive fan audience, who watch with a deep knowledge of the source text(s), or an interest in the vid form itself. Fanvids: Television, Women, and Home Media Re-Use draws on four decades of vids, produced on videotape and digitally, to argue that the vid form's creation and reception reveals a mode of engaged spectatorship that counters academic histories of media audiences and technologies. Vids offer an answer to the prevalent questions: What happens to television after it's been aired? How and by whom is it used and shared? Is it still television?

Abstract:
Film noir is usually associated with a series of darkly seductive Hollywood thrillers from the 1940s and 1950s—shadowy, black-and-white pictures about private eyes, femme fatales, outlaw lovers, criminal heists, corrupt police, and doomed or endangered outsiders. But Film Noir: A Very Short Introduction demonstrates that the genre has much earlier origins and is more international in scope. The key themes and styles of film noir are discussed along with some of the most iconic film noirs, exploring important aspects of their history and ongoing influence: their critical reception, major literary sources, methods of dealing with censorship and budgets, social and cultural politics, variety of styles, and future in a world of digital media and video streaming.

Abstract:
AbstractIt All Comes from Beer is the title of a 1952 short film, commissioned by Carlsberg to showcase its philanthropic contributions to science and art in Denmark to anglophone viewers. But Carlsberg and its rival brewery, Tuborg, used film at least a quarter-century earlier as “propaganda”, not just for their beer but also for the culture, industry, and landscape of their home country. The case studies in this chapter show how inter-war film genres such as tourist films, promotional footage, educational films, and even science films tended to overlap and merge, depending on where they travelled and to which audiences they were screened. The movement of films and of the material culture (from beer glasses to science equipment) that accompanied them facilitated an entrepreneurial form of cultural diplomacy on Denmark’s behalf.

Abstract:
AbstractAustria’s entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 2020 Academy Awards was a drama by director Ulrike Kofler called Was Wir Wollten (What We Wanted, 2020). Kofler’s film tells the story of a childless couple, Alice and Niklas, who decided to take a holiday to recover from yet another failed attempt to conceive via IVF. However, their plans for a restful break are disrupted by the family next door, whose beautiful children serve as a constant reminder of what is lacking in their life. The film is based on a short story by Swiss writer Peter Stamm, and this chapter focuses on how that written text was adapted for the big screen. In particular, it considers how Alice’s ambivalent stance towards motherhood, which is already present in Stamm’s narrative, is expressed in visual and cinematic form in Kofler’s film. This chapter argues that both the film and its narrative source text offer a more nuanced view of the story of childlessness and non-motherhood than that which is often presented in the media and society.

Abstract:
AbstractVidéo de Femmes dans le Parc (VFP) (Women’s Videos in the Park) is a summertime open-air screening of independent short videos, held annually since 1991 at Park La Fontaine in Montreal, Canada, by Groupe Intervention Vidéo (GIV), an independent feminist/queer distribution company. In this essay, we explore VFP’s historical use of public space and its reimagination under Covid’s urgent sanitary crisis and chronic social inequities. Within the media ecology of Montreal’s outdoor cinemas, we see GIV’s creative decision to move VFP online during Covid as part of a longer history of alternative media’s unconventional exhibition modes that address social inequalities. As such, we first situate VFP within GIV’s wider mandate of dissemination of video work by women. We then analyze VFP’s “visual architecture” under Covid, stressing the organizers’ original strategies to reproduce a sense of eventness even through online exhibition. We conclude with questions of embodied and affective labor, including audiences’ wellbeing, artist renumeration, and self-care, that the shift online entails for the organizers of VFP.

Abstract:
AbstractFocusing on the conception, production, distribution (and disappearance) of Ravished Armenia (1919) and Alice in Hungerland (1921), two silent films on the Armenian Genocide from a gendered perspective, this chapter combines media history (“technologies of witnessing”) with the history of global humanitarianism. These two oldest movies on the genocide were shot with the initiative of the Near East Relief in order to raise donations and international awareness through the reenactment of suffering, sensationalization of violence, and victimized Armenian bodies. Both films enjoyed a short-lived fame and revenue, followed by disappearance and subsequent oblivion. The early humanitarian cinematic representation of the Armenian genocide sheds light on the ferocious mediatization and marketing strategies of humanitarian agencies, specifically as to how they targeted the corporal bodies of their lead orphan actresses, Arshalouys Mardigian and Esther Razon, through extensive bodily interventions, enormous workload, and reenactment of suffering.

Abstract:
Abstract Film music continues to be an important part of film production in the early twenty-first century. In fact, its practice has become indispensable to the marketability of films in the United States and globally. Soundtracks often precede a film’s release and may bring in higher profits than the film itself. It is hard to imagine a film without any music whatsoever. The conclusion speculates on the future of film music as it ponders its connections to television, music videos, gaming, and the Internet. To what extent do these new media forms depend on music? What functions that music affords film might also apply to these new media?

Abstract:
Write-once (WO) optical disks with high reflectance are becoming attractive data storage media for small production runs of specific compact discs (CD) or Digital Video Discs (DVD). A metal island film is one of the interesting media proposed for such WO optical disk media [1-3]. The metal island film is composed of metal nanoclusters (i.e., islands) and exhibits resonance-type absorption in a visible - near infrared region. Near the resonance peak wavelength, it has not only large absorptance but also high reflectance due to the resonance of free electrons in the metal islands. As the optical characteristics of the metal island film are greatly changed by heating the film, it can be used as heat-mode WO media. The metal island films have some advantages over other WO media, i.e. (1) high reflectance, (2) large absorbance, and (3) low stress in the films from those discontinuous island structure. In addition, the very short recording time is expected since the optical characteristics of the metal island films can be greatly changed by the slight changes of the nanometer-size metal islands [1,3]. We have investigated gold (Au), silver (Ag), copper (Cu), and aluminum (Al) island films for the WO optical data storage media. In this paper, we show the optical changes of those island films at the commercially useful wavelength of 800 nm and demonstrate the highly reflective WO media with the reflectance of 70 % using the Ag island films. It seems that those island films are useful as CD-DVD compatible WO optical data storage media.

Abstract:
Abstract For the present paper, the operating frequencies for thin film Nickel-Titanium (NiTi) shape memory alloy were investigated. The results thus far have shown that careful delivery of power to NiTi membrane increased the operating frequency by an order of magnitude. The method of power delivered to the membrane seemed to depend on the thermal conductivity of the fluid in contact. Stagnant air and mineral oil required shorter heating times and less power due to then-low conducting characteristics. De-ionized water on the other hand required greater power and longer heating time. Although heat dissipation to the surrounding was inevitable, it was determined that delivering large bursts of energy in a short heating time can minimize such loss. This way, more energy was used to heat the membrane rather than dissipating to the surroundings. While only 60Hz was measured using the thin film membrane, higher operating frequencies are achievable if power delivery to the membrane is carefully controlled.

Abstract:
Subject of the article’s study – ecumenism of Metropolitan Andrei Sheptytskyi and reflection of this phenomenon in the works of scientists and modern Ukrainian media. Main objective of the study: analyze what Ukrainian scientists, journalists and different media are writing about Sheptytkyi’s ecumenism. Methodology: We used a bibliographic method to accumulate factual material, a qualitative content analysis to isolate the ideas of ecumenism from the journalism of Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytskyi, a cultural-historical method that made it possible to consider the ideas of ecumenism in the context of the era, the connection with the historical context, as well as methods of synthesis and generalization, induction and deduction. The study process description: In our scientific article, we analyzed the doctoral dissertation of His Beatitude Lubomyr Huzar entitled «Andrei Sheptytskyi, Metropolitan of Halytskyi (1901-1944). Herald of ecumenism». His Beatitude Lubomyr defended this fundamental work at the Pontifical Urbaniana University in Rome back in 1972. Therefore, we observed how this work reflects the historical prerequisites, features and development of Sheptytskyi’s ecumenism, who, according to His Beatitude Lubomir, was a kind of innovator in this field, a person who was ahead of his time. We also analyzed the reflections on the ecumenism of Sheptytskyi´s father, doctor Ivan Datsk, which are reflected in his book «In Search of Faithfulness and Truth». In addition, we turned to the scientific text «Ecumenism of Sheptytskyi» by professors Mykola Vegesh and Mykola Palinchak. Subsequently, it was analyzed how the scientific work became a useful basis for the coverage of Sheptytskyi’s ecumenism in the press. In particular, in the columns of the cultural and social site «Zbruch» in Diana Motruk’s article «In Search of Church Unity». We also turned to the «Spiritual Greatness of Lviv» website, where in 2020 an interview with Mykhailo Perun, who shot the film «Sheptytskyi: Relevant information», was published, illustrating the ecumenical initiatives of this figure. In addition, we analyzed the publication on Radio Svoboda for 2022, dedicated to the anniversary of Sheptytsky’s stepping into eternity. It is also mentioned there about of Sheptytskyi’s ecumenism as his landmark activity. Subsequently, we found an article on the website «Christian and the World», where in a conversation with the scientist Dr. Andrii Sorokovskyi entitled «Andrei Sheptytskyi believed that the union is a synthesis, communion and dialogue between the East and the West, – Andrii Sorokovskyi» also analyzed the phenomenon of Sheptytskyi’s ecumenism. Results: we discovered that Sheptytskyi’s ecumenism was studied not only by numerous scientists, but this meaningful legacy of his is a valuable phenomenon for media coverage. Therefore, Sheptytskyi’s ecumenism becomes the subject of interest of journalists not only of publications that write mainly on church topics, but also socio-political and artistic ones. We are sure that Sheptytskyi’s ecumenism will continue to be studied by professional scientists and representatives of the wider media community. Significance: journalism of a religious orientation, high-quality and substantiated coverage of religious processes and phenomena in the press is still something quite new for modern Ukraine. In Soviet times, journalists were afraid to write about religion in order not to incur the wrath of the authorities, so such materials could not be included in the press. That is why it is very important to study how today’s journalists cover important issues of religion, which, in addition, have a strong scientific basis. In addition, the development of ecumenism and religious unity are extremely important for building national unity, which is necessary for our state to effectively confront the enemy in full-scale war. Key words: ecumenism; Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytskyi; media; interreleigion cooperation; dialogue.
