Abstract:
The literary creativity of I.Ya. Yakovlev is analyzed in this article. It's noted that his works harmoniously combine didactic and aesthetic features. In the history of the Chuvash literature I.Ya. Yakovlev became one of the founders of the Chuvash juvenile literature. His stories are distinguished by vivid imagery and language simplicity. The heroes of the works (people, animals, plants) are characters close to understanding, living next to young readers. The relevance of the study stems from the fact that the works of I.Ya. Yakovlev can be widely used in the moral and spiritual education of preschool and primary schoolers. In this regard, the purpose of this article was to focus attention on the fact that when analyzing the writer's stories, it is necessary to consider the Chuvash national mentality, didactic and aesthetic features at the same level. Only such an analysis contributes to a deeper understanding of the main idea of the work. The research subject is Ivan Yakovlev's short stories-miniatures and scientific research of Chuvash literary critics. As part of the study, the following results were obtained: folklore becomes a significant phenomenon in Yakovlev's stories, his work became the first step and the basis of the Chuvash juvenile literature.

Abstract:
This article is an empirical study on Choi Myung-ik’s literature conducted in North Korea(1945-1967). There are three things discussed. First, I found several new first-round records that give a glimpse of Choi Myung-ik’s literary and social activities during the period of his return to North Korea. These activities include the revision of the date of birth, the year of school, the activities of the Education Bureau during the liberation period, the joint exhibition of the novel collection Engineer, and the dispatch to the local area Second, the writer discovered six books of Choi Myung-ik’s works. Except for the Bunin book Buddhist monk Seosan which is a copy of the Yanbian Competition Society, the rest are historical materials and children’s and youth literature. After the war, the essence of the most important literature was in those two. Third, 21 new pieces of Choi Myung-ik’s words, which were published in the continuous media during the period of his stay in North Korea, were discovered. Thus, the total number of episodes will increase to 78. It was put into 12 branches by Choi Myung-ik. It is a story with medium-length novels, short stories, bean novels, wall novels, saga stories, true stories, essays, pelletons, reviews, political theories, and juvenile novels. Choi Myung-ik was a dagalae writer. This article greatly expanded the scope of Choi Myung-ik’s literature. Waiting for quick research.

Alshiban, Afra S. "Applying Labelling Theory to Selected Short Stories by James T. Farrell." Advances in Language and Literary Studies 9, no. 5 (October 31, 2018): 143. http://dx.doi.org/10.7575/aiac.alls.v.9n.5p.143.

Abstract:
For decades, “societal reaction theory” or “labelling theory” has provided the most significant explanation for deviant behaviour, particularly in the case of juveniles. The theory argues that once a stigma is attached to an individual, an irreversible process occurs whereby the labelled individual begins to identify as deviant and to embark on a deviant career. Hence, rather than deter bad behaviour, stigmatisation and shaming serve only to amplify it. Although the labelling perspective is rooted in sociology, we find proponents of some version of labelling theory in other disciplines, even in literature. The present study posits that in the short stories of Irish-American writer James Thomas Farrell entitled “Big Jeff,” “The Fastest Runner on Sixty-First Street,” “Young Convicts,” and “The Scarecrow,” labelling processes emerge as essential elements in a comprehensive understanding of each story. All four stories are the least critically acknowledged works by the author even though they demonstrate the author’s remarkable talent for illuminating the social and psychological factors associated with deviant behaviour among juveniles.

Abstract:
AbstractDuring the Gilded Age and Progressive Era, thousands of middle-class youths published their own amateur newspapers. These periodicals were printed using the so-called toy (or “novelty”) press, a portable tabletop device that helped democratize word processing. Children often used their presses to compose miniature novels and short stories. They then shared their prose with a national community of fellow juvenile writers collectively known as “Amateurdom.” Adolescent fiction explored an array of subjects, but the frontier, territorial expansion, and empire in the West became some of its particular fixations. All that imperial storytelling, however, possessed a rich subtext. Boys and girls, reacting to late-nineteenth-century changes in the lived experience of childhood, used their printing presses to challenge various constraints imposed upon them. But in so doing, they both perpetuated and reinforced a pernicious culture of settler colonialism that celebrated the subjugation of American Indians. Ultimately, the amateur publications of children remind us that fiction is not exclusively an adult enterprise. The creative output of young people provides important insight into an underexplored realm of the Gilded Age and Progressive Era’s literary world.

Abstract:
In this essay, I analyse two episodes from the recent television series, Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams. I contend that, by adapting Philip K. Dick’s short stories from the 1950s for the screen, the creators of “Impossible Planet” and “The Commuter” offer an important new perspective from which to appreciate the value of his early fiction, which is too often dismissed by critics as juvenilia. Moreover, by re-visioning Dick’s work as posthuman Gothic narratives, the episodes refract long-standing Gothic anxieties about alterity and (post)human existence through a lens that is more often associated with science fiction. This hybridization is instrumental to Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams’ interrogation of the paradigmatic binaries between life/death, interiority/exteriority and reality/virtuality. In my analysis, I use Rosi Braidotti’s theory of posthuman death, as well as Roger Luckhurst’s concept of Weird zones, to illuminate how Electric Dreams explores some of the existential issues that arise from human-technological imbrication.

Abstract:
foreigners. When this literary form entered Tamil Nadu, the creators retained only the form by taking it into their creations. They followed the old tradition without making any changes to the subject matter or the method of telling the story. The basic reason for this is that literature is based on the old literary ideals of taste, which are uncritical and instructive. This is what they defined in the theory of "art for art's sake". In the literature that arose on the basis of this theory, only certain communities were made the subject of the poem. The men who emerged from it appeared to be elevated by society, economy, and character. It was only after the arrival of Puthumaipithan and others that the short story literature underwent many changes in form and content. The basic reason for this is that they broke the legacy of the old creators, who thought those creators were those who flew in the sky, and they looked closely at the current society with the mindset that creators are also people who live as human beings. That is why the laborer, rickshaw puller, porter, sweeper, and other characters appeared in their works. Because of their forward-thinking and realistic outlook, they remained strong in the creative world, and their works were also successful. Suryakanthan was the one who entered the field of literature with progressive thinking and a realistic outlook. He stands in this new literary field and creates short stories and novels. Through his work for the last twenty-five years, Suryakanthan has made a unique mark for himself in the field of Tamil literature. He is equal to him in his work, which most vividly reflects the lives of working people and rural people. Suryakanthan has expressed humanity in his works in accordance with the idea that a creator should stand as a representative of the common man and as a humanist with unconditional love for mankind and reflect on life with the help of a writing pen.

Abstract:
The term commitment literature is often used in one language to refer to literature in which the creator has paid close attention to social aspirations and the aspirations of the deprived strata of their society. Some critics see this literature as part of a social ideology in which the creator seeks to break free from individualistic demands and isolation through his works and to express his commitment to his community and the people he addresses. Here art, according to the Russian writer Tolstoy, is not merely a means to get enjoyment but a means of strengthening human relations with the well-being of individual and human society. A good literary work needs to reflect the realities of the times point out its shortcomings and find solutions to its problems; otherwise, it will not be considered as good work. (Landy) or Pashto short story is one of the folk poems. Folk poems are poems that are based on the artistic experiences of the people and express the taste, passion, imagination and intellectual experiences of particular nation. Landy is a two syllable poem, the first syllable is short just nine syllable and second syllable is thirteen syllables and every fourth syllable has a syllable on it, and one of the characteristics of (Landy) is that they can be fully understood and explained in this long frame. Afghanistan is one of the least developed countries in the world, so its poets and writers try to choose a beautiful forum for their work as well as topics that suit the needs of the society. Abstract:
This paper analyzes four selected short stories in Javanese literature entitled “Durmogati” by Budianto, “Maju Tatu Mundur Ajur” (“Damned if One Does, Damned if One Doesn’t”) by Budiono, “Bojo” (“Wife”) and “Apik Meneng” (“It’s Better to be Silent”) by Harjono which were all published in 2018. In Indonesia, Javanese literature—together with other regional literatures—is a part of or complimentary to Indonesian literature but it has not received much attention at the national level, let alone at the international level. However, Javanese literature has not been less vocal than Indonesian literature. In this article, I will examine the socio-political engagements of the four short stories in Indonesian society. Using Phillips’ ethnographic approach and Foucault’s theory of power distribution, I will analyze how the four short stories are related to democracy, people’s power, equality, and corruption in Indonesia after the fall of Suharto as the president of Indonesia in 1998. The analysis shows that the four short stories have significant socio-political engagements in the present Indonesia. The authors of the four short stories discussed in this paper show courage to blatantly criticize those who are in power. As such, the discussion of this essay offers fresh insights about contemporary Javanese literature and its role in the socio-political situation of the country. In the end, this essay will show that these four short stories are not only a reflection of Javanese society in particular and that of Indonesia in general but also as expressions of their authors as key informants about their society, i.e., how they see and think about the society in which they live. Keywords Javanese literature; socio-political engagement; democracy; power; equality

Abstract:
This article tries to determine the factors causing the Low Malay short stories became unaccounted, especially those that were collected in Miss Koelit Koetjing (2005), in the constellation of the history of modern Indonesian literature. To answer these problems, this paper explores the criteria applied by the author of the history of Indonesian literature, comparing it with the Low Malay short stories, and relates them to their cultural historical context. The results showed the reason that Low Malay short stories collected in Miss Koelit Koetjing were not accounted, are caused by the following factors. First, most of the short stories still retain the traditional genres, such as hikayat (saga) and fairy tales, which show the strength of the cultural orientation of the past. Second, the authors of short stories are not natives; the author is not in the sense of the creator, the creator, but a storyteller, just to recount a story that has been there before. Third, short stories were published in newspapers and not in the book form. Fourth, the world of their stories came from diverse cultures and not from the world of the Indonesian archipelago. With a similar reality, it can be concluded that the short stories collected in Miss Koelit Koetjing, in the broad realm of Low Malay literature, is a literary tradition of its own in the constelation history of Indonesian literature.

Abstract:
Between 1884 and 1936, Rudyard Kipling wrote over 300 short stories, most of which were first published in colonial and cosmopolitan periodicals before being reissued in short-story collections. This corpus contains a number of critically neglected Gothic stories that fall into four groups: stories that belong to the ghost-story tradition; stories that represent the colonial encounter through gothic tropes of horror and the uncanny but do not necessarily include any supernatural elements; stories that develop an elegiac and elliptical Gothic Modernism; and stories that make use of the First World War and its aftermath as a gothic environment. This essay evaluates Kipling's contribution to the critically neglected genre of the Gothic short story, with a focus on the stories' persistent preoccupation with spatial tropes of travel, disorientation and displacement.

Abstract:
Murakami is one of the masters of Magical literature. In his writing, the magical world appeared in a variety of colors. As a writer who follows Poe, Kafka, Marquez, etc., Murakami has both inherited and developed magicalism to a new level. The spirit world is an important fulcrum for him to exploit the magical and fanciful elements. He has a knack for turning both the unconscious with its hidden memories and also the guilt and regret from it into magical signs. Murakami's magicality weaves both mystery and comedy. Thereby, the writer illuminates the hidden corners of the soul that in a busy life, people often forget.
