Background: The rapid growth of the global population, coupled with the challenges posed by a changing climate, is creating significant obstacles in food production worldwide. As agricultural practices intensify to meet rising demand, the strain on land resources has increased in recent years, accelerating land degradation processes. Land degradation represents a significant challenge to ensuring global food security. One of the key strategies for promoting sustainable agriculture is crop rotation and the preservation of biodiversity. Properly implemented crop rotation enhances soil fertility,

Horticultural products such as fruits and vegetables are highly perishable in nature; thus, maintaining the optimal air conditions inside the storage helps extending their shelf life. However, commercially available cool storages can give chilling injuries to the commodities which its quality, color, texture and freshness are often sacrifice. Hence, the proponents aimed to develop an automated electronic evaporative cooler in prolonging and preserving the freshness and quality of fruits and vegetables. Cucumbers are highly perishable and suffer from moisture loss, shriveling, yellowing, peel damage, and decay. Plastic packaging helps to preserve cucumber quality, but harms the environment. We examined the use of compostable modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) with different perforation rates as a possible replacement for conventional plastic packaging materials. The results indicate that all of the tested types of packaging reduced cucumber weight loss and shriveling. However, compostable MAP with micro-perforations that created a modified atmosphere of between 16–18% O2 and 3–5% CO2 most ef

Mango (Mangifera indica L) production in Kenya directly supports approximately 200,000 farmers and many other beneficiaries. Despite this, its production suffers from post-harvest losses due to the fruits' short shelf life in ambient conditions. Calcium maintains cell integrity, strengthens the cell wall, membrane structure, and thus increases shelf life. A completely randomized block design with a split plot arrangement was used to compare the effect of spraying and immersion of ‘Van Dyke' mango fruits at maturity or 15 days later in calcium chloride at different concentrations (0.5%, 1%, 1.5

Pitaya is a non-climacteric fruit that has white or red flesh with numerous small, black seeds. It has a high moisture content; however, water loss during handling and storage negatively affects the fresh weight, firmness and appearance of the fruit, decreasing market value. Application of compatible postharvest coatings has been shown to benefit postharvest quality of many crops. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of two commercial coatings on weight loss and quality of pitaya during storage. The five lines from 84LT402 showed more kernel shriveling than the four lines from 84LT401. The derived lines were analyzed for aneuploid frequencies, rye chromosome banding patterns, and meiotic stability to detect associations with kernel development. The aneuploid frequencies were 16% in 84LT401 and 18% in 84LT402. C-banding showed that both selection groups had all the rye chromosomes except 2R. By investigating the contributing factors in each of the disorders, the potential involvement of handling and storage variables were determined. This allowed for a better understanding of the responsible factors that create susceptible environments for these disorders to occur. Abstract Even if you take only a passing interest in the world of art, you will probably have heard of the recent commotion over Rembrandt. The authorship of some of his best-loved paintings, such as Man in a Golden Helmet in the Gemäldegalerie in Berlin and The Polish Rider in the Frick Collection in New York, have been questioned, and the body of his accepted work seems to be shrinking. In point of fact, Rembrandt’s accepted oeuvre has often swelled and contracted, burgeoning to more than 600 paintings in W. R. Destiny led him, however, to become the first African American to pass the Florida bar exam and to win international acclaim as a lyricist, poet, novelist, diplomat, and champion of human rights. When Johnson joined the staff of the NAACP in 1916, the organization lacked the power that comes from substantial and active memberships. Abstract In economic science, nothing is ever new, and nothing permanent. deas emerge, flourish, wither and die, to be born again a few ecades later. Such is the case for ideas about human development. The founders of economic thought never forgot that the real objective of development was to benefit people-creating wealth was only a means. That is why, in classical economic literature, the preoccupation is with all of society, not just with the economy. Fascination with industrial chimneys and technology did not replace early economists’ concern with real people. After the Second World War, h
