AbstractNew Culture intellectuals avidly promoted new narratives and models of femininity as the cornerstone of a new culture; the gender discourse they advocated, however, continued to be refracted through traditional notions of femininity and writing. This paper examines the means by which one woman writer, Ling Shuhua, attempted to navigate the contradictions of this discourse, to forge her identity as a modern woman writer. The shifting nature of Ling Shuhua's literary negotiations is particularly salient when her portrayals of traditional femininity and use of voice in Temple of Flowers (1928) are contextualized against her lesser-known works—her early stories published in 1924 in Chenbao and her later fictionalized autobiography in English, Ancient Melodies (1953). Unlike her lesser-known works, which are deeply sympathetic to the plight of boudoir women and critical of New Culture discourse, the stories in Temple of Flowers are often framed with a sense of ambiguity in relation to both feminist and New Culture agendas. While these disparities may reflect a resourcefulness on Ling Shuhua's part in her bid to carve out public writing spaces, they also suggest the kinds of negotiations and self-effacing gestures that her literary endeavors may have entailed.

This book project began in 1991 when Patricia Laurence, a scholar of Virginia Woolf, encountered a collection of unpublished letters and papers belonging to some members of the Bloomsbury Group and to Ling Shuhua, a renowned modern Chinese woman writer. Although some scholars have read and responded to the materials Laurence used in this book, her expansive coverage, freely traversing the boundaries of time, nation and artistic genres, is exceptional.The work deals mainly with the intercultural communications between Chinese and British intellectuals in the first half of the 20th century, particularly those between the modernist literary ‘communities’ of the Crescent Moon Group and Bloomsbury. The work is the outcome of the author's dedicated research on the subject over ten years, ever since her discovery of the letters, which motivated her to learn the Chinese language and to attend lectures and seminars in modern Chinese literature.

In order to enhance the quality of iron concentrate from magnetic separation, reverse-flotation technology is often applied in iron ore dressing plant. However, this technology has disadvantages in operating cost, energy consumption and environmental protection (Zhao Chunfu, Wu Jianghua &Wang Hui ,2005). Developing innovative equipment to process magnetite ore more-effectively is a way to get rid of these disadvantages of reverse flotation and improve the quality of iron concentrate. This paper describes the development of Complex Flashing-Field Magnetic Cleaner, a new kind of equipment based on the principle of combination of separation in magnetic field and separation in gravity field (Hao Shuhua & Jiang Wenli,2002). This innovative equipment possesses a tailor-made magnetic system and has the characteristics of a magnetic field which can strengthen the formation of magnetic agglomerations and the dispersion of gangue minerals to improve the quality of separation. The automatic control system developed specifically for this equipment can further increase the accuracy of separation and stabilize the process. Test results showed that this equipment is reliable in operation, economically beneficial and it has large potential of application.

AbstractThe so-called China crisis, well documented in History of the IAU by Adriaan Blaauw and in Under the Same Starry Sky: History of the IAU by Chengqi Fu and Shuhua Ye, refers to the withdrawal in 1960 of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) from the Union. The crisis stemmed from the admission by the IAU, amidst strong protest from PRC and some other member countries, of the Republic of China (ROC) to the Union, creating the so-called “Two Chinas” – or “One China, one Taiwan” problem. The crisis directly led to the absence of mainland Chinese astronomers from the stage of international collaborations and exchanges, and was only solved two decades later. The solution, accepted by all the parties involved, is that China is to have two adhering organizations, with mainland China astronomers represented by the Chinese Astronomical Society located in Nanjing (China Nanjing) and China Taiwan astronomers represented by the Academia Sinica located in Taipei (China Taipei). The denominations “China Nanjing” and “China Taipei” represent the IAU official resolution and should be used in all IAU events.The China crisis, probably the most serious one in IAU history, was a painful lesson in the 100-year development of the Union. Yet, with its eventual solution, the Union has emerged stronger, upholding its spirit of promoting astronomical development through international collaboration of astronomers from all regions and countries, regardless of the political systems, religion, ethnicity, gender or level of astronomical development.

Abstract A floating gallery, a drifting studio where sprawling waterscapes set off artwork on display and inspire original creation—the painting-and-calligraphy boat (shuhua chuan) may sound like a postmodern experimental installation. For its Ming patrons, however, it was nothing of the sort. Traceable to Mi Fu's floating gallery-cum-studio, the “art boat” was perceived as a beacon of cultural orthodoxy by generations of aesthetes like Mi Wanzhong, Dong Qichang, and Li Rihua. A nod to antiquity, it situated them in the continuum of long-standing tradition. The practice reached its acme in the mid- and late Ming, against currents of growing social mobility and dynamic imbalance that gave rise to a culture of connoisseurship as part of a fierce competition for social distinction. This paper examines the lure of waterborne art connoisseurship as cultural capital. Unique to the art boat is the act of collecting pieces for display and appraisal—an act akin to modern curatorial discernment. The selection of works that accompanied the patron onboard became an expressive medium. The painting-and-calligraphy boat also privileged a sense of fortuity. Chance encounters and spontaneous inspiration complemented the boats' movement along their free-form routes. Yet, the most prominent feature distinguishing the art boat was its visibility. Open panoramas of outstretched waterscape conjured a new creative avenue, a self-aestheticizing of both participant and vessel. This paper extricates the painting-and-calligraphy boat from its perception as a passing curiosity and shows it to be an enduring phenomenon that permeated premodern Jiangnan—the choice of the waterscape as a space of creation and recreation.

Penelitian ini bertujuan: (1) untuk mengetahui bagaimana Shuhbah sebagai Komunikasi Terapeutik didalam pembentukan karakter; (2) untuk mengetahui Apa saja faktor pendukung dan penghambat pada pembentukan karakter Jama’ah Thoriqoh Qodiriyah Naqsabandiyah Pondok Pesantren Suryalaya di Pesantren Sirnarasa didalam Shuhbah. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan kuantitatif dengan teknik populasi dan sampel, sedangkan data dihasilkan melalui observasi, wawancara dan angket selanjutnya dianalisis dengan pendekatan kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Lokasi yang menjadi objek penelitian ini adalah di Pesantren Sirnarasa Dusun Ciceuri, Desa Ciomas, Kecamatan Panjalu, Kabupaten Ciamis Jawa Barat. Hasil penelitian dapat simpulkan bahwa Shuhbah memiliki semua komponen didalam komunikasi terapeutik, dan shuhbah juga mampu membentuk karakter ikhwan jika ikhwan tersebut benar-benar memiliki keinginan untuk berubah. Adapun faktor pendukungnya adalah harus menjalankan tiga komponen shuhbah yakni istima, Ijtima, dan i`tiba. Dan faktor penghambatnya adalah tidak menjalankan benar-benar amaliyah yang telah dicontohkan Syeikh Mursyid.

The Shuduan 《書斷》 (Judgments on Calligraphers) by Zhang Huaiguan of the Tang dynasty comprises classifications of calligraphy that Chinese theoreticians still refer to. This article aims at considering the functioning and efficacy of such evaluations through a study comparing this work to other treatises and, when relevant, to the European tradition. Its main objective is to examine how Chinese aesthetic theory responded to new evaluative needs that appeared during this crucial period in Chinese history. Thus, it seeks to clarify the nature of the criteria adopted by Zhang Huaiguan for his gradings: are they material, ideological, aesthetic, or of another nature?

Shukra Dhatu is one of the seven Dhatus in the body and Shukra is white, pure, excellent Dhatu, which is considered as best among all seven Dhatus. According to many Acharyas of Ayurveda, Garbhotpadana (reproduction) is chief function of Shukra Dhatu and important fact is Shukra Dhatu also shows its effect all over body in the form of Shukradhatu Sarata because Shukradhatu is located in entire body. Shukra Sara person is known to possess unctuous (Snigdha), compact (Samhat) and white (Shweta) bones (Asthi), teeth (Danta), nails (Nakha), and children (Bahula Kamapraja). Shukra Dhatu is one of Pranayatanas of Sharira, from this information we can understand the importance of Shukradhatu. Therefore, this study was taken into consideration which has main objectives to review the concept of presence of Shukra Dhatu in the body without any sexual discrimination and its functions all over body.

This study compares the methods of Dunn and Shukla in determining the appropriate insertion length of umbilical catheters. In July 2007, we changed our policy for umbilical catheter insertions from the method of Dunn to the method of Shukla. We report our percentage of inaccurate placement of umbilical-vein catheters (UVCs) and umbilical-artery catheters (UACs) before and after the change of policy. In the Dunn-group, 41% (28/69) of UVCs were placed directly in the correct position against 24% (20/84) in the Shukla-group. The position of the catheter-tip of UVCs in the Dunn-group and the Shukla-group was too high in 57% (39/69) and 75% (63/84) of neonates, respectively. UACs in the Dunn-group were placed directly in the correct position in 63% (24/38) compared to the 87% (39/45) of cases in Shukla-group. The position of the catheter-tip of UACs in the Dunn-group and the Shukla-group was too high in 34% (13/38) and 13% (6/45) of neonates, respectively. In conclusion, the Dunn-method is more accurate than the Shukla-method in predicting the insertion length for UVCs, whereas the Shukla-method is more accurate for UACs.

Ayurveda is the ‘Science of Life’ and its aim is to maintain healthy status of healthy living being, i.e. pre-vention and treatment of disease. As per Ayurvedic Science, Purusha consists of three Dosha, seven Dhatu and three Mala which are the primary basis of living body. Dhatu are those which give support and strength to the body. Shukra is the seventh Dhatu, which is responsible for all systemic body activities in-cluding metabolic functions and performs specific functions of reproduction. According to Acharya Vagbhata and Charaka, Shukra is one which responsible for the process of Garbhotpadana (reproduc-tion). According to Susrutha, Shukra provides courage, nourishment, happiness, strength and production of offspring. Main objective of this study is to review the conceptual facts of Shukra Dhatu from different classical Ayurveda texts and to analyse the physiological perspective about the same. In this article, the classical references related to Shukra Dhatu is collected and tried to correlate the concept with modern physiological entities. From the available references in the Samhitas, Shukra Dhatu can be better co related to sperm along with semen, sex hormones (oestrogen, androgen etc.), and sex chromosome.

Ayurveda is the Shastra (science) which places great emphasis on prevention and encourages the mainte-nance of health through close attention to balance one’s life. Dinacharya, Ritucharya, Sadvruta, Ra-sayana, and Vajikarana play an important role to maintain the good health. There are Seven Dhatus pre-sent in the body such as Rasa, Rakta, Mamsa, Meda, Asthi, Majja and Shukra. The seven Dhatus are re-sponsible for the sustaining and development of human body. Shukra is the last Dhatu produced in the body among all the Dhatus. A person who has healthy Shukra has a brightness of confidence, with eyes and skin that seen to radiate light Shukra Dhatus also confirms strength, wisdom and power of the body. Specific Aahara and Vihara has been described in text of Ayurveda. Among Vajikarana treatment many of the formulations are told in the form of medicines and in the form of food preparation which helps for preservation of sexual potency of a healthy man as well as treatment of defective semen, disturbed sexual potency. Vajikarana promotes the sexual capacity and physical activities.

Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif, dipandang tepat untuk digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Adapun metode pengumpulan data yakni dengan cara observasi, wawancara, rekaman audio dan studi dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa Masjid Al-Anshari di dalam meningkatkan jama’ah Shalat Shubuh dan Shalat Jum’at memiliki proses perencanaan berupa penyusunan unsur tujuan, unsur kebijakan, unsur kemajuan, dan unsur program. Proses pengorganisasian yang dilakukan dengan pembagian kerja melalui struktur organisasi, departementalisasi dengan deksripsi kerjanya, distribusi otoritas, dan koordinasi yang dilakukan setiap Briefing di Coffee Break. Proses penggerakan dilakukan melalui proses motivasi, proses kepemimpinan dan proses komunikasi. Proses pengendalian dilakukan dengan memperbaiki penyimpangan-penyimpangan yang ada. This study aims to determine the application of management functions in the Al-Ansari Mosque in improving Jama'ah Shubuh Prayer and Friday Prayers. In more detail, the purpose of this research is to find out the planning process, the organizing process, the mobilization process and the control process at Al-Ansari Mosque. This study uses a descriptive method with a qualitative approach, considered appropriate for use in this study. The data collection method is by observation, interview, audio recording and documentation study. The results of this study indicate that the Al-Ansari Mosque in improving the congregation of the Shubuh Prayers and Friday Prayers has a planning process in the form of compilation of objectives, policy elements, progress elements, and program elements. The organizing process is carried out with the division of labor through the organizational structure, departmentalization with its work description, distribution of authority, and coordination that is carried out every Briefing at Coffee Break. The mobilization process is carried out through a motivational process, a leadership process and a communication process. The control process is carried out by correcting the existing deviations.

Aplikasi augmented reality pada umumnya menggunakan marker khusus untuk menjalankan aplikasi (marker based). Penggunaan marker tersebut membuat aplikasi menjadi ketergantungan, karena aplikasi hanya akan dapat dijalankan jika marker tersedia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menampilkan objek 3 dimensi pada lingkungan augmented reality tanpa menggunakan marker khusus pada perangkat android. Aplikasi dibuat menggunakan metode markerless user defined target dan melakukan pengujian tentang pemanfaatan metode tersebut menggunakan parameter seperti kontras warna permukaan datar, bentuk objek, jarak, cahaya dan sudut kamera pada saat tracking. Hasil dari penelitian didapatkan bahwa seluruh benda dapat digunakan pada metode markerless user defined target. Benda terbaik untuk menampilkan objek 3 dimensi adalah permukaan datar kertas dengan kontras bagus, sudut tracking 45°, menggunakan sumber cahaya terang yang tidak tegak lurus dengan marker dan jarak ideal 15 cm sampai 25 cm
