Abstract:
This article focuses on the main three limitations of the current studies on Hizbullah, an Islamist organisation in Turkey operative during the 1990s: the lack of historicisation of the trajectory of Hizbullah and its members, the lack of consideration of the spatial dimension of its spread and the absence of grounded studies about how it has functioned at the local level. Taking the case of Silvan, a small town in the province of Diyarbakir, the article investigates and analyses Hizbullah’s repertoire of action in the shadow of the state, the degree of coercion it achieved in different spaces, its targets, and its conception of the world. The paper argues that the extremism and intensity of the PKK-Hizbullah violence is said to have expressed a completely new type of intra-Kurdish conflict within the long intra-Kurdish conflict history. As the saying goes, "All things are difficult before they are easy." Setting up a new enterprise goes with elaborate procedures, including an innumerable input of human resources and starting capital. But if all the efforts that we put into lasted only for several years of prosperity and the following closure made employees take unpaid leaves, the country and society would suffer heavy losses and many social problems would emerge. As mentioned by ancients, "A thousand tones gateway of import coordinates with an entire house”, it shows the importance of the door, its position and its direction which decide the advantages and disadvantages of Feng Shui in the enterprises. Being engaging in Operation and Design Industry for a great amount of years, I realized the importance of this segment. Therefore, my motivation is to combine Feng Shui theory with Design theory in order to make enterprise last forever and become sustainable. This research is going to apply the ancient method to the door of enterprises in hope of designing the door of building toward favorable orientation. The methodology of this research is: Use the Luopan to measure the angle of the directions at first, then adopt the topographic analysis, examine the site and environment and refer to the "San Yuan Jiu Yun" to find out the year and specific timing of opening-door, accompanying with "Bagua" and "I ching" and the "24-orientation Rings of Luopan" to decide and differentiate the orientation. The research analyzes with the Xuan Kong Flying Star Feng Shui in the "24-orientation rings of Loupan" to search for the precise position and orientation for the opening door, and which orientation will hold the "qi" with luck outside. We can understand the architecture can be integrated with orientation elements in early stages of planning to design for the construction. By changing the orientation of the door, the environment of the space and the building can be in harmony with each other. There is a positive effect for the architectural culture and architecture industry.

""We want doors opened, not slammed shut": Aboriginal economic development corporations, case studies from Saskatchewan." Thesis, 2016. http://hdl.handle.net/10388/ETD-2016-03-2490.

Full text
Abstract:
Aboriginal Economic Development Corporations (AEDCs) have changed the approach to First Nations economic development. These agencies are set up and owned by Aboriginal governments to create economic opportunity for their communities. AEDCs enhance the economic and political capital in First Nation communities, acting as representatives for the people they serve, as Wilson and Alcantara (2012) have argued. The governance of these organizations has been a source for much debate with the Harvard Project on American Indian Economic Development calling for a separation of business and political institutions. This thesis will engage these ideas and explore the questions of how political and economic institutions interact in the context of First Nation economic development. Research for this thesis has demonstrated that Aboriginal economic development in Canada is an inherently political process that requires political and business leaders in AEDCs to ensure the interests of their communities are represented in the public and private sectors. This argument will be demonstrated in the context of three components of the thesis: an exploratory analysis of AEDCs, outlining their general governance structures, impact on local economies, and opportunities for public policy; discussion of the policy environment surrounding AEDCs; and discussion of the governance of AEDCs and other relevant themes in the Aboriginal economic development literature. The concluding recommendations in the final chapter of the thesis suggest that national and sub-national governments create a greater enabling atmosphere for AEDCs, local governments implement mechanisms that produce good decisions, and governments across Canada work together to create stronger relations and opportunities.

Among the color paintings on traditional wooden architectures in Taiwan, the paintings of Door Gods on the wooden panel door is believed to be able to award off evil spirits and ensure household safety. However, the Door God color paintings are often exposed to high temperature, high humidity and air pollution for a long period of time. Those paintings on the doors of temples even have to endure smoke from the incense burning by worshipers. When left unattended without careful maintenance, these paintings are prone to problems of disrepair. This study is a scientifically-based discussion about the repair work of a color painting of Cin Shu-bao and Yu-Chih Kong, two generals in the Tang Dynasty who became Door Gods in folklore. Starting from the historical development of Door Gods in folklore, this study first discusses about the protective functions of Door God paintings in traditional Chinese culture and different types of auspicious color paintings on the door nowadays, and then provides a compilation and categorization. In the repair work, this study adopts visual observation and scientific equipment in analyzing how this Door God color painting was originally produced. This study also analyzes samples of the painting layer to find out the layer structure and then records the impairment as well as the repair process. After the test of cleaning solvents in this study, the olive-oil soap is chosen as the major solvent due to concerns of human health and aesthetic perceptions. The delicate ink lines on the color painting are further treated with acetone. Plextol® D498 is used to repair the flaking and cracking of the painting layer. The impairment of the support layer is filled with Plextol® D498 mixed with GB03 Micro balloon. In the retouching, acrylic and water color(Winsor & Newton)are used to complete the final step of the repair work.

Nicholson, A. Kirby, Robert C. Bachman, R. Yvonne Scherz, and Robert V. Hawkes. "Low-Cost Measurement of Hydraulic Fracture Dimensions Using Pressure Data in Treatment and Observation Wells – A Workflow for Every Well." In SPE Hydraulic Fracturing Technology Conference and Exhibition. SPE, 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.2118/204183-ms.

Full text
Abstract:
Abstract Pressure and stage volume are the least expensive and most readily available data for diagnostic analysis of hydraulic fracturing operations. Case history data from the Midland Basin is used to demonstrate how high-quality, time-synchronized pressure measurements at a treatment and an offsetting shut-in producing well can provide the necessary input to calculate fracture geometries at both wells and estimate perforation cluster efficiency at the treatment well. No special wellbore monitoring equipment is required. In summary, the methods outlined in this paper quantifies fracture geometries as compared to the more general observations of Daneshy (2020) and Haustveit et al. (2020). Pressures collected in Diagnostic Fracture Injection Tests (DFITs), select toe-stage full-scale fracture treatments, and offset observation wells are used to demonstrate a simple workflow. The pressure data combined with Volume to First Response (Vfr) at the observation well is used to create a geometry model of fracture length, width, and height estimates at the treatment well as illustrated in Figure 1. The producing fracture length of the observation well is also determined. Pressure Transient Analysis (PTA) techniques, a Perkins-Kern-Nordgren (PKN) fracture propagation model and offset well Fracture Driven Interaction (FDI) pressures are used to quantify hydraulic fracture dimensions. The PTA-derived Farfield Fracture Extension Pressure, FFEP, concept was introduced in Nicholson et al. (2019) and is summarized in Appendix B of this paper. FFEP replaces Instantaneous Shut-In Pressure, ISIP, for use in net pressure calculations. FFEP is determined and utilized in both DFITs and full-scale fracture inter-stage fall-off data. The use of the Primary Pressure Derivative (PPD) to accurately identify FFEP simplifies and speeds up the analysis, allowing for real time treatment decisions. This new technique is called Rapid-PTA. Additionally, the plotted shape and gradient of the observation-well pressure response can identify whether FDI's are hydraulic or poroelastic before a fracture stage is completed and may be used to change stage volume on the fly. Figure 1Fracture Geometry Model with FDI Pressure Matching Case studies are presented showing the full workflow required to generate the fracture geometry model. The component inputs for the model are presented including a toe-stage DFIT, inter-stage pressure fall-off, and the FDI pressure build-up. We discuss how to optimize these hydraulic fractures in hindsight (look-back) and what might have been done in real time during the completion operations given this workflow and field-ready advanced data-handling capability. Hydraulic fracturing operations can be optimized in real time using new Rapid-PTA techniques for high quality pressure data collected on treating and observation wells. This process opens the door for more advanced geometry modeling and for rapid design changes to save costs and improve well productivity and ultimate recovery.

Abstract:
A new model suitable for the quantitation of Li vivo thrombolytic efficacy was developed which has significant advantages over currently available models. This model allows animals to be used repeatedly and produces data that are less variable. This is a species-independent model utilizing an arterio-venous shunt (AVS). This model was used in rabbits (3 kg) and beagle dogs (13 kg). Each animal was used repeatedly during a 7 day experimental period without evidence of antibody formation. Clot lysis data are less variable than the rabbit jugular vein clot lysis model (RJV). The average coefficient of variation at all doses ([SD/Mean]×l00) with the AVS model was 13±9 and 21±6 for dogs and rabbits, respectively, compared to 25±11 for the RJV model. The rate of data accunulation with the AVS is 3-fold greater than the RJV.In the dog, catheters (25 cm long, 1.6 mm ID) were placed in the jugular vein and the carotid artery, tunneled under the skin to the back of the neck, exteriorized and plugged with a heparin lock. Thrombi were made from a donor dog by placing 0.7 ml of whole blood in a 1 cc plastic syringe barrel containing a cotton thread. The blood was clotted for 2 hr at 37.5 deg C, in vitro. The thrombus was rinsed and the syringe barrel was connected into the circulation by silicone tubing for a 90 min test period. Clot lysis was determined by weight. The flow rate across the thrombus was regulated to 60 ml/min by placing a teflon capillary tube (30 cm, o.7 mm OD) on the venous side. The procedure for the rabbit study differed as follows: Rabbit blood made larger clots therefore the blood was diluted with saline (4 to 1). Clots were incubated 90 min in vitro. The flow rate was 40 ml/min. Clot lysis was measured by the loss of 125-1 fibrinogen. The dose of reccminant t-PA (ActivaseR, Actilyse™) that achieved 40% lysis (ED40) was determined to be 180 ugAg in the dog and 660 ugAg in the rabbit AVS model. Using the RJV model the ED40 was 340 ug/kg.
