Abstract:
This study aims to determine user involvement on SIA performance in savings and loan cooperatives in Sibangkaja Village and determine the effect of SIA user training programs on moderating or strengthening the effect of user involvement on SIA performance in savings and loan cooperatives in Sibangkaja Village. The results of the study show that (1) the user involvement variable has an effect on the performance of the AIS. The calculation results obtained a regression coefficient of 2.830, the t-count value is 2.354 and the sig value is 0.021 <0.05, so user involvement partially affects the performance of AIS. (2) The interaction variable of user involvement with the SIA training program on the performance of SIA, gives the calculation results obtained a regression coefficient of -0.112, the t-count value is -2.193 and the sig value is 0.032 <0.05. So it can be concluded that the second hypothesis, namely the interaction of user involvement with the SIA training program, has an effect on the performance of the SIA. The amount of Adjusted R Square is 0.420, which means that 42% of the variation in SIA performance is influenced by user involvement, while the Adjusted R Square value based on variations in SIA performance which is influenced by the interaction of user involvement with the SIA training program has increased to 0.767, which means 76.7 %, while the remaining 23.3% is influenced by other factors outside of this study.

Socialization of the PKM SIA program to Bank Mandiri customers through the MBKM program provides a positive contribution in increasing customer understanding of SIA and its benefits in the banking context. Students who took part in the internship program reported an increase in their understanding of the importance of AIS in supporting sound banking decisions. Several challenges related to the effectiveness of SIA socialization through PKM were also identified, such as time constraints and varying levels of understanding among customers. Therefore, it is recommended that PKM continue to improve their outreach methods, including the use of information and communication technology, as well as holding additional training sessions to ensure that customers can make maximum use of AIS.

Abstract:
Over the last 3 years, The School of Health and Medical Sciences (SHMS) at Seton Hall University has embarked on implementing an Interprofessional Education (IPE) framework to educate students in 5 of its professional graduate health science programs. The goals of this framework are to (1) educate faculty, students, practitioners, and staff on the value of interprofessional education and (2) create student clinical experiential learning opportunities that foster development of core competencies necessary to become effective, collaborative members of interprofessional teams. A Structured Immersion Approach (SIA) was adopted to implement 4 core IPE experiences for all students in the health sciences program. As 1 of the 5 health science programs in SHMS, the Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology (MS-SLP) program has actively supported the schoolwide IPE initiatives by adding IPE-related content to its didactic courses, clinical experiential training opportunities, and community service activities. Schoolwide and program-specific IPE experiences are outlined with an emphasis on the sequencing of these experiences for MS-SLP students.

Abstract:
Through Indo Global Mandiri University's Student Internship program (MBKM), the socialization of Accounting Information Systems (AIS) both traditional and based on the latest technology has made an important contribution in increasing students' understanding and acceptance of the importance of AIS in banking. Increased Understanding: Participation in the internship program has increased students' understanding of AIS both traditional and current technology-based. The important role of AIS in supporting appropriate decision making in banking activities. The MBKM internship program has proven effective in socializing AIS to students. Through various socialization methods such as hands-on training, workshops, and the use of technology, students can gain a comprehensive understanding of AIS. The socialization of AIS based on the latest technology also provides additional benefits, such as real-time access capabilities, better collaboration, and more accurate data analysis. This strengthens students' understanding of the importance of technology in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting processes. Nevertheless, there are challenges that need to be overcome in the AIS socialization process, such as the diverse level of understanding among students and the limited time in delivering the material. However, by continuing to improve socialization methods and adapting more sophisticated technology, opportunities to strengthen understanding and acceptance of AIS are increasingly wide open.

This chapter examines the expansion of the citizenship school program to the neighbouring South Carolina Sea Islands and into northern Alabama. In this period, the experiment became a structured program as Septima Clark, Bernice Robinson, and the growing cadre of citizenship school teachers refined materials for local classes and developed a teacher training workshop. They did this work as state and federal officials intensified attacks on the Highlander Folk School. Director Myles Horton grew increasingly concerned about the expanding program’s impact on other Highlander programs and initiated negotiations to transfer the program to the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.

This chapter examines the missionary training program in the Franciscan colleges for the propagation of Catholicism, focusing on the collegial curriculum, especially instruction in moral theology and languages. The objective of the Franciscan Order's college training program was to provide missionaries with pedagogic and epistemological techniques to help them in their evangelical endeavors, particularly preaching skills. Franciscan friars in the colegios were exposed to a stringent daily life and training in linguistics, philosophy, and theology. Franciscan missionaries and preachers were trained to become assertive evangelical ministers at the vanguard of the Catholic religion in the early modern world. The chapter discusses the specific elements of the Franciscan training program in the colegios de propaganda fide, what and how veteran missionaries and reformers contributed to college curricula, and quotidian life in the college. It also describes the curriculum reforms pursued by the Franciscan colleges.

This chapter details the author's time spent as Training Officer for a sea-going squadron, Destroyer Squadron Eight, in Mayport, Florida. As the junior department head assigned to the staff, with the fewest subordinates yet having responsibility for the most programs, the author excelled under great leadership and supportive actions taken by them. This chapter also presents the innovative actions and procedures that resulted in substantial training improvements. On the other hand, the author recalls a shouting and cursing match that took place between himself and a senior officer from a maintenance command, precipitated by the discriminatory behavior of one of his subordinates. This serious incident of insubordination by the author was resolved and the discriminatory behavior revealed when the author proved the discriminatory behavior by the other command's responsible personnel using written documentation.

Abstract:
This book examines the role played by the Franciscan friars of propaganda fide in the expansion and consolidation of Catholicism in the eighteenth-century Hispanic world. More specifically, it investigates the conversion agenda of the Franciscan Order's Colleges for the Propagation of the Faith and their missionaries in Spanish America and Spain. It shows how Franciscan colleges developed an extensive, methodical missionary program aimed at converting both Catholics and non-Christians. The Franciscan missionaries focused not only on the recruitment of non-Catholics for their eternal salvation under the umbrella of the Church, but also on the salvation of the sinners who were otherwise condemned to hell. This introduction provides a summary of the chapters that follow, covering topics such as the recruitment of novices and friars, the missionary training program in the Franciscan colleges, the misiones populares, and the contents of sermons and pláticas preached in the popular missions.

Abstract:
A society that encourages young people to embrace entrepreneurship as an alternative opportunity for their professional future is the responsibility of each country. Today's young people will become tomorrow's entrepreneurs if they are presented with this opportunity as a viable form in a training program aimed at identifying and developing entrepreneurial skills. We are currently facing a situation in which vocational secondary education (VET) is threatened by a changing labor market, in which it automates and digitises “excludes” the intermediate level skills traditionally offered by VET. The role of VET in the entrepreneurial program refers to facilitating students' personality (commitment to self-assessment; tolerance of ambiguity, uncertainty, creativity, self-confidence, adaptability, motivation, leadership) with skills that demonstrate successful entrepreneurial competence. The article presents the analysis of the evaluation model for entrepreneurship education programs. The core of the model is the dynamic and flexible training strategy, based on formative and summative assessment. The training program is divided into five modules, the finality of each module is measured by computerized assessment training tests. To demonstrate the outcome of the course in terms of learning outcomes, young people will be tested online. KEYWORDS: entrepreneur, entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial skills

Abstract:
The Higher Education Technical School of Professional Studies in Novi Sad had four accredited study programs in the field of protection. These were the study programs: Occupational Safety, Environmental Protection, Fire Protection and Civil Protection. By conducting various surveys with employers, employees and students, the needs of the labor market have been analyzed. We came to the conclusion that it is enough to accredit one degree in protection engineering for basic professional studies for several reasons. Employers in smaller companies who have the obligation to employ all three profiles of engineers do not need three people fulltime. Thus, they employ one protection engineering engineer qualified to perform all three jobs. Training is additionally carried out through training programs and taking exams for licenses in the appropriate field. Also, specialist and master's studies provide the possibility of continuing improvement in each of these areas. Therefore, the paper deals with the research of the labor market, the attitudes of employers, the opinions of employees and the students about the development of a new integrated study program for basic professional oose further subjects, as well as the topics that will be lectured to in each subject. The last step is the preparation of complete documentation for the seven-year accreditation of the study program at the National Entity for Accreditation and Quality Assurance in Higher Education.

Full text
Abstract:
In November 2013 the revised ASME PCC-1 “Guidelines for Pressure Boundary Bolted Joint Assembly” were published including Appendix A, “Training and Qualification of Bolted Joint Assembly Personnel.” This Appendix outlines a training, examination and qualification system for ensuring a consistent level of knowledge and experience for bolting assemblers and specialists working on bolted flange joint assemblies. The ultimate objective is a mobile workforce capable of bolting ASME plant with a minimum performance standard safely and with no subsequent leaks. Major operators and contractors involved in oil and gas, petrochemical and power generation, or any industry that uses bolted flange joint assemblies, can benefit from PCC-1. Benefit recognition has begun with operators now specifying PCC-1 compliance in their procedures and bid packages. However, nearly three years after the introduction of Appendix A the number of Qualifying Organizations approved to deliver the program and individuals qualified via these programs remains stubbornly small in comparison with other programs and insufficient to meet the future safety demands of the industry or the objective of PCC-1 and Appendix A. This technical paper reviews key elements of Appendix A, compares Appendix A with other international qualifications and suggests recommendations intended to increase recognition and compliance with these guidelines. The recommendations and expected benefits follow from an extensive review of work by other organizations and published data concerned to reduce recorded leaks from bolted joints, including: a) Implementation lessons learned from a Qualifying Organization and Review Organization. b) Current international qualifications and the differing routes to achieve each qualification including: 1) ASME PCC-1 Appendix A Training and Qualification of Bolted Joint Assembly Personnel. 2) European standard EN1591-4 Qualification of personnel competency in the assembly of the bolted connections of critical service pressurized systems. 3) Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) Mechanical Joint Integrity (MJI) technical training standards and Step Change in Safety Mechanical Joint Integrity Route to Competence Guidance 4) Additional country specific qualifications c) Program effectiveness study of the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) Mechanical Joint Integrity (MJI) program and the Step Change in Safety Hydrocarbon Release (HCR) model set up to achieve leak reduction in the UK North Sea sector. Finally, the paper will conclude with outlining the benefits to be gained globally through standardization of international qualification programs to enable true portability including: a) The need to increase the number of auditable Qualifying Organizations able to deliver the program, qualify individuals and engage operator/contractors in the process. b) Importance of effective communication and summary of the guidelines.

Abstract:
The education service for specialists dealing with radioactive waste was established in Russia (former USSR) in 1983 and was based on the capabilities of two organisations: Moscow Scientific and Industrial Association «Radon» (SIA “Radon”) and Lomonosov’s Moscow State University. These two organizations are able jointly to offer training programs in the science fundamentals, applied research and in practical operational areas of the all pre-disposal activities of the radioactive waste management (RWM). Since 1997 this system was upgraded to the international level and now acts as the International Education Training Centre (IETC) at SIA “Radon” under the guidance of the IAEA. During last 12 years more than 350 specialists from 33 European and Asian countries enhanced their knowledge and skills in RWM. The IAEA supported many specialized regional training courses and workshops, fellowships, on-the-job training, and scientific visits which are additional means to assure development of personnel capabilities. Efficiency of training was analysed at IETC using the structural adaptation of educational process as well as factors, which have influence on education quality. In addition social-psychological aspects were also taken into account in assessing the overall efficiency. The analysis of the effect of individual factors and the efficiency of education activity were carried out based on appraisal results and post-course questioning of attendees.

Abstract:
Abstract Over 70% of Nigeria's oil and gas reserves are in swamp and offshore environments with over 40,000 workers registered to work there. Following the signing of the Petroleum Industry Bill into law, the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) as the successor agency of the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) is the upstream industry regulator mandated to drive several safety programs to protect people, environment, and assets through enforcement of laws and regulations. The aim of this paper is to discuss the various safety programs adopted by Commission to reduce accidents in swamp and offshore areas, in which bulk of the oil and gas operations occur. A detailed review of the programs showed that in addition to protection of people, environment and asset, safety programs drive cost savings in the industry, improves collaboration among operators, creates jobs and other economic opportunities in Nigeria. This paper will discuss in detail, the background, methodology, successes, challenges, and opportunities of some flagship safety programs of the Commission. The programs to be discussed are - Administration of Offshore Safety Permit; Implementation of Safety Case; Annual Facility Inspection and Oil Spill Contingency Plan; Risk Based Inspection; Safety and Emergency Training Center and Medical Center Accreditation and Search Rescue and Surveillance Program. This paper only gives insight into the management of safety in the Nigerian oil and gas industry and does not attempt to review the performance or effectiveness of these safety programs vis-à-vis accident statistics in the industry. The various safety programs can be adopted by regulators around the world most especially in countries with a nascent oil and gas industry.

Full text
Abstract:
This paper presents the results of a randomized controlled trial on the long-term impacts of a youth training program. The empirical analysis estimates labor market impacts six years after the training - including long-term labor market trajectories of young people - and, it is one of the first experimental long-term evaluation of a youth training program outside the US. We are able to track a representative sample of more than 3,200 youths at the six-year follow-up. Our empirical findings document significant impacts on the formality of employment, particularly for men, and impacts for both men and women in Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic. The long-term analysis shows that these impacts are sustained and growing over time. There are no impacts on average employment, which is consistent with the low unemployment in countries with high informality and no unemployment insurance. Looking at the local labor market context, the analysis suggests that skills training programs work particularly well in more dynamic local contexts, where there is actual demand for the skills provided.

Abstract:
This paper analyzes MIF efforts to improve inadequate training institutions and emphasize the basic importance of updating management and worker skills in SMEs in Latin America. The paper is organized as follows: Section I analyzes the problems behind the failures of both market-based and bureaucratic approaches to provide services such as training for SMEs. A cursory look at existing evidence from the developing world and Latin America in particular shows that SMEs not only lack adequate training institutions, but also an understanding of the basic importance in updating management and worker skills. Due to massive market failures and a lack of institutional experience, innovative supply-side initiatives are critical to help SMEs break out of low-equilibrium traps. Section II then shifts attention to the six SME training projects. After a discussion of the general aims of the Program and the individual projects, the paper assesses the projects in terms of their abilities to fill their different niches. In conclusion, Section III summarizes the lessons learned thus far from these projects.

Abstract:
Job training programs for vulnerable youth are the main response of Latin American governments to address the problem of inadequate employment opportunities for young people. Despite its importance, knowledge about these programs is scarce. This study contributes to filling this gap in the literature by presenting new evidence on the effectiveness of six of these programs operating or that were implemented in Colombia, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Peru and Dominican Republic. This analysis uses the results of impact evaluations of these programs and the results of qualitative surveys of young participants and employers, and in-depth interviews to training centers, employers and policy makers. The main results confirm the limited evidence available, namely, that these programs have little impact on the probability of getting a job (although there is a high heterogeneity in these impacts), but a significant impact on job quality. From this analysis, we propose a research agenda to improve knowledge on the functioning and impact of these programs, and provide a series of recommendations to improve the design and increase the effectiveness of youth training programs.

Abstract:
This cruise was conducted as part of the educational training of fishers in the framework of the transdisciplinary SeaRanger program which is scientifically accompanied by the Institute of marine ecosystem and fisheries Science (IMF) at the University of Hamburg (UHAM), the Christian-Albrechts University Kiel, Centre for Ocean and Society (CeOS), the Thuenen-Institute for Baltic Sea fisheries (TI-OF), and the German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv) in the framework of the joint project SpaCeParti (Coastal Fishery, Biodiversity, Spatial Use and Climate Change: A Participative Approach to navigate the Western Baltic Sea into a Sustainable Future; Grant no. 03F0914) funded by the BMBF. In order to give the fishermen as realistic an application of the standard monitoring techniques as possible, the trip was planned in such a way that the training part was integrated into a scientific monitoring programme focussing on the spawning activity of fish in the Belt Sea. By sampling a standardised station grid contributing to the joint long-term sampling efforts in the Western Baltic Sea which are internationally coordinated by the WBCF (Western Baltic cod Forum), the fishers learned how plankton, fish and water samples are taken, preserved, and analysed and gained a comprehensive insight into the hydrography and fauna of the western Baltic. Similar to the previous cruise AL606 in January 2024 conducted by the IMF no cod larvae and generally less larvae compared to previous years were observed in the Bongo 500 μm net samples from the Plankton grid stations, potentially indicating a delayed spawning activity of fish in the Belt Sea potentially related to the comparably low water temperatures in winter 2023/24. The authors partnered with school districts, tutoring providers, and quarterback organizations that support implementation of high-impact tutoring across districts in the United States to learn from their efforts in implementing tutoring. This cross-district implementation study shares a snapshot of lessons learned about common barriers to implementing highly-effective programs and the ways that districts have overcome these barriers with success. Interviewees included administrators, teachers, tutors, and other program staff from nine school districts and one charter management organization, seven tutoring providers, and six quarterback organizations that support implementation across districts. One finding is that funding and belief in the potential of tutoring are two key facilitators for the implementation of high-impact tutoring. Moreover, some of the challenges identified are related to tutor recruitment and training, data use, the scheduling of tutoring during the school day, student attendance and school-level buy-in.

Abstract:
Oct. 07 2019 – Oct. 10, 2019 Kiel (Germany) – Kiel (Germany) MNF-Pher-110The main purpose of the ALKOR cruise AL529 was the training of students in observational techniques applied by physical oceanographers. The students who participated in the trip attend the module "Measurement Methods of Oceanography" which is offered in the Bachelor program "Physics of the Earth System" at CAU Kiel. During the AL529 the students were instructed in instrument calibration and in the interpretation of measurement data at sea. In addition, the students had the opportunity to learn about working and living at sea and to explore and study the impact of physical processes in the western Baltic Sea, the sea at their doorstep. The observations show a quasi-synoptic picture of the hydrography and currents in the western Baltic Sea. Twice-repeated hydrographic and current sections across the Fehmarn Belt show well the short time scales where significant changes occur. A zonal section along the deepest topography, from about 10°40'E to 014°21'E, shows very nicely the two-layer system of outflowing low salinity and inflowing North Sea water. A bottom shield anchorage shows the currents in the water column and the near-bottom temperature and salinity variations in the Fehmarnbelt area.

SBK, being implemented by BSA, aims to improve the quality of life of these deprived children by providing accommodation and food with a major focus on education and training. This study examines the process of targeting and selecting children and assesses the situation of children living in the SBK. The major problem faced by the SBK children is accommodation, including access to bath and toilet facilities. In addition to limited floor space, most of the SBKs do not have adequate bathrooms and latrines. It is very important for the SBKs to have their own buildings with adequate bath and toilet facilities. The selection process may be changed as there is provision to accommodate more children. The number of children staying should be increased by changing the selection process (for example, collecting children from slums/remote areas). A protective environment is pivotal to governments’ commitment to ensuring that no child is deprived of the material, spiritual, and emotional resources needed to achieve their potential so that they can participate as full and equal members of society. BSA should make efforts to provide children with the necessary skill/vocational training and other assistance to ensure job prospects for them by networking with different government departments/agencies so that they can participate in income-earning activities and be capable of supporting themselves and become useful members of the society.

Abstract:
Family violence is a critical development challenge in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), carrying high health, social, and economic costs and increasing the risk of perpetuating the cycle of violence across generations. Parenting programs have improved parenting practices in high-income countries. However, evidence for LMICs is sparse. This study evaluates an intervention to reduce coercive parenting implemented by the Ministry of National Security of Jamaica, which targeted caregivers of children aged 6 to 15 in vulnerable communities in the country. Treated caregivers were visited by a parental trainer for six months and invited to three sessions of a group training workshop during that period. We conducted a randomized controlled trial (RCT) to evaluate the interventions impact. Using data from a follow-up survey completed six months after the intervention, we find robust evidence of reduced coercive parenting practices among treated caregivers compared to the control group. The improvement is due to a reduction in the reported likelihood of caregivers yelling and beating their children for misbehaving. The effect is greater for caregivers with higher pre-intervention levels of coercive parenting. The results provide evidence that parenting interventions can effectively reduce coercive parenting among caregivers of school-aged children in highly violent middle-income settings.

Abstract:
Context: This report details a formative evaluation of the Clinical Supervision Online (CSO) course, a fee-paying, fully online ‘light touch’ program of study for clinical supervisors offered by the Melbourne Medical School, which was developed in conjunction with the University’s Mobile Learning Unit. The course requires between six to ten hours of self-directed study and is designed for any clinicians who teach. Methods: Evaluation of the course was guided by Rossi, Lipsey and Freeman’s (2004) approach to program evaluation, addressing the need for the course, its design, implementation, impact, and return on investment. Data were collected through interviews with key informants, document analysis, an embedded student survey, learning analytics data, financial data, and an audit against ‘best practice’ standards for online course design. Findings: The findings suggest that course development was driven by both a financial imperative and genuine concern to meet training needs of clinical supervisors. Two hundred and four students enrolled on the course in its first 18 months. This has been enough to cover its developmental costs. In relation to 64 quality standards for online course design, the level of performance was rated as ‘meets’ for 44 items; ‘exceeds’ for one item; ‘developing for 13 items’; and, ‘non-existent’ for six items. An additional 33 items were identified as ‘not applicable’ for the ‘light touch’ course design. Significance: From a learning design perspective there is much to like about the CSO course and the outcome of assessing it against the standards for ‘best practice’ online course design suggests that an evolutionary approach - making incremental changes - could improve the course whilst retaining its existing ‘light touch’ format. The CSO course on its own is unlikely to realise the depth of achievement implied in the course aims and learning outcomes. The CSO course may best be seen as an entrée into the art of clinical supervision.
