The purpose of this study was to examine the role of the Siak Sri Indrapura Sultanate in shipping and trade in the Melaka (Malacca) Strait in the XVIII century. This research discusses efforts to revitalize Chinatown in Siak Sri Indrapura after the fire that occurred on February 17 2018 coincided with Chinese New Year celebrations.
