ABSTRACTDuring the Franco-Prussian War, Paris was besieged by the Prussians from the middle of September 1870 until the end of January 1871. During most of the period, the main means of transportation – railways, roads, telegraph, bridges, etc. – were cut off by the Prussians. This article shows that, given the elimination of the main means of diffusion of news, some novel strategies were used to preserve a democratic distribution of information. Modern urban siege is a metaphor for evolved urban campaigns. The template for such attacks draws from the tactics seen in the 26/11 Mumbai attack in 2008, and continued with the 2013 Westgate Mall attack in Kenya, the January 2015 Charlie Hebdo and Hyper Cacher attacks in Paris and the November 2015 attacks against the Stade de France and Bataclan. These virtual sieges employ swarming tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) to provide a template for urban strife and insecurity. All of this changed after the 1870–1871 Franco-Prussian War, during which balloons were used to breach the siege of Paris. This essay explores how the aeronautical community, led by the recent

In high dimensions, the memory requirement becomes a limiting factor for running these algorithms, making them uncompetitive with enumeration algorithms, despite their superior asymptotic time complexity. We generalize sieving algorithms to solve SVP with less memory. Abstract:
The ultrastructural modifications in nucleus of tomato infected with tomato leaf curl virus (TLCV) included hypertrophy of the nucleolus, segregation of nucleolar components into discrete granular and fibrillar regions, appearance of electron-dense particles associated ribbon-like structures, and presence of virus particles as either loosely compacted or hexagonally close-packed symmetrical arrays. The virus particles were isometric, about 18–20 nm in diameter. In the lumen of sieve elements, virus particles occasionally formed aggregates that were cylindrically arranged and occurred in pairs.

The past 10 years of event ordering research has focused on learning partial orderings over document events and time expressions. The most popular corpus, the TimeBank, contains a small subset of the possible ordering graph. Many evaluations follow suit by only testing certain pairs of events (e.g., only main verbs of neighboring sentences). This has led most research to focus on specific learners for partial labelings. This paper attempts to nudge the discussion from identifying some relations to all relations. We present new experiments on strongly connected event graphs that contain ∼10 tim

Carbon molecular sieve (CMS) membranes have excellent gas separation property over conventional polymeric membranes and superior anti-swelling property. PMDA-ODA polyimide has high thermal stability and good mechanical property. It has been extensively adopted as the precursor of CMS membrane. However, due to the insoluble nature, PMDA-ODA CMS membranes are limited to configurations like dense symmetric films or composite membranes using porous inorganic or metal substrates. In this work, CMS hollow fiber composite membranes based on an asymmetric PMDA-ODA hollow fiber were successfully prepar
