Full textThe autobiography of Sigismund Neukomm is established, with annotations and commentary, from all the correspondence held at the Mozarteum, the Wiener Stadtbibliotheket and the BnF (a total of almost 140 letters, all of which are transcribed) as well as from the biographical information included in the most thorough catalogue of the composer's work (approximately 1200 entries). A transcription of this handwritten catalogue from the 19th century is accompanied by a detailed study of it and Neukomm’s canons are considered in the light of his biography. There follows a study of the biographical context, of the documents in which the 14 enigmatic canons are presented and of the symbolism of the canons themselves. The definitions of Albrechtsberer's composition treatise (1814) are used to take apart the enigmas and to analyze the canons: the inventio technique is shown to be consistent with the circular canons by tone and the workings of the paired-voices canons are explained. The study concludes by the analysis of an enigmatic canon composed by Neukomm, for Luigi Cherubini, which defies the rules of canon construction

Full textIt’s about an analysis on the rhetorical theory in the fictional world of Persiles the Greek novel by Cervantes. Of the three aspects that conforms the rhetoric act in Aristotle’s, the logos, the pathos, and the Ethos, we choose the last one. We emphasize on Michel Meyer´s problemological rhetoric theory, as soon as we read the Persiles, as soon as we read Persiles, under an apocrítical glance, seeking how ethos responds to a question, a problem. In addition to the philosophers Meyer, Danblon we frequently resorted to speech analysts: Maingueneau, Amossy, among others. Ethos is looked for in the starring characters, for protagonists and some secondary characters. Since ethos is composed by phronesis, arétè and eunoia, we elaborated the relations between ethos and persuasive act in an analysis of Periandro´s story, its worth to say, how it uses the narration as a rhetorical strategy. We also elaborated the relations between ethos and lie, highlighting that they are allowing the main characters to be without arétè, and, regardless this, they gain ethos. As far as the word effective, we analyzed the relations between ethos and authority. To this we add the referenced critics of Persiles, who they have not addressed this issue, but whose analysis helps us understand the context and the singularities of Cervantes´final novel. The contributions of Casalduero, Romero Muñoz, Baena, Molho, Moner are invaluable; we enthusiastically took Lozanos Renieblas´, Pelorson´s and Nerlich´s interpretations. In conclusion, it is attempted to show how ethos aids the conformation of the world of the Greek novel, for which ethos of the cervantinian author displays, in ironic form, the relations between its work and its eponym: Las Etiópicas de Heliodoro
Morales, Jorge. "Sigismondo d'India à la cour de Turin (1611-1623) : musique, mécénat et identité nobiliaire." Thesis, Paris 4, 2014. http://www.theses.fr/2014PA040139/document.
Full textSigismondo D’India, (1582? -1629?) a contemporary of Claudio Monteverdi, was one of the major composers of the early XVIIth century and one of the founding fathers of modern music. This thesis aims at setting him against a background which requires some reminiscing and updating, that of the court of Turin, where the musician settled between 1611 and 1623. It was the most fruitful period of his musical career, the study of which addresses three issues: music, patronage and nobiliary identity.I shall first study the movements of musicians, artists, printers and musical sources, and shall analyse besides some works by the composer. It appears that Sigismondo D’India, together a singer, a guitar-Player, a composer and a poet, stands out as one of the boldest and the most idiosyncratic musicians of his days. His musical career goes hand in hand with artistic patronage, which made his travelling easier, connected the various cities accommodating the musician and his dedicatees and facilitated creative emulation. The study of patronage through D’India’s creativity in music points out, among other things, the numerous relationships between him and his dedicatees. Finally, through the notion of nobiliary identity, I shall focus on the way in which the composer contributed to building up the cultural identity of a court while building up his own status as a nobleman. The nobiliary identity can thus be considered a first step toward national identity. I also aim at showing that D’India was perfectly up to the role of gentleman-Musician, and that his music contributed to building a model of urbanity

Full textLa Galatea and Persiles, two romances written by Cervantes, are frequently misunderstood because they do not establish the same relation with reality as in Don Quixote. They explore an imaginary space and seem to work in contradiction with the rule of verisimilitude and what we consider to be the foundation of the modern novel. After this assessment, the present study has been elaborated in order to understand the reasons for these special features in Cervantes's first and last books, a writer whose “ingenio” has often been praised. That is why, for a start, I will focus on the similarities between them and, first and foremost, I will contextualise them: the imagination and the imaginary will be the guiding principles. This work tries to show how these books are able to meet the readership's and the theoreticians' expectations. At the same time they explore an imaginary space, proving that it is possible to invent a free writing
