Recently short word-length (normally 1 bit or bits) processing has become a promising technique. However, there are unresolved issues in sigma-delta modulation, which is the basis for 1b/2b systems. These issues hindered the full adoption of single-bit techniues in industry. Among these problems is the stability of high-order modulators and the limit cycle behaviour. The research focused on the nonlinear characteristics of the MOSFET (Metal-Oxide Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistor) operated under the large signal operating condition. The traditional models only describe the performances at saturation. However, the breakdown characteristics of the MOSFETs in the avalanche breakdown region are not addressed. The presented large signal model could describe the performances of the MOSFET from saturation to breakdown

Abstract:
This project proposes two possible solutions for the phasing plan of the intersection near the City Hall of Leiria and presents the calculations of the cycle length and the intersection delay for both of them. The main goal of these solutions is to optimize the global functioning of the intersection. Since the number of cars that use an intersection is will fluctuate with time, when using pre-timed traffic lights, adjustments are needed to the settings of the traffic signals, to assure the accommodation of the present traffic flows in the intersection under acceptable conditions for drivers.
