Abstract:

History and Journalism in Silvia Galvis’s Novels explores the relationship between Galvis’s novels and the influence of two distinctive phenomena in the Spanish American literary tradition: history and journalism. The thesis analyses Galvis’s novels from historical and journalistic perspectives. It explores the main characteristics of the historical novel in order to relate this genre to Galvis’s novels and to assess the extent to which they are historical or not. It draws on Galvis’s historical research on Colombian history and politics to illustrate its relevance in her novels. From a journalistic perspective, the thesis analyses the role of journalism in Spanish America and Colombia in particular, to show the interrelation of this profession with literary writing and the close link between the two professions in Galvis’s novels and columns in El Espectador. The thesis emphasises the constant interrelation between the political history of Colombia and the political function of journalism in the country. It links therefore Galvis’s historical research on politics and journalism with the themes and style of her novels in order to demonstrate this special characteristic of her literary production. It studies the formal mechanisms in Galvis’s novels employed to narrate different periods and places in the history of Colombia and how her columns provide an insight in to her fictional narrative. The thesis also explores on how Galvis’s novels keep alive historical memory in Colombia through the process of writing. Therefore it pays special attention to the role of her characters and narrators as historians, journalists or chroniclers of their own political places and events.

Studying Brazilian reality in order to recognize the specificities of our country, it refers to one of the main contributions left by Silvia Lane. Primary documents in the collection A Psicologia em São Paulo [ Psychology in São Paulo ] from Núcleo de Estudos em História da Psicologia (NEHPsi/PUC-SP) [Center for Studies in History of Psychology] along with its publications, allowed the comprehension of a committed work with social issues integrated with topics that expose the difficulties experienced by Brazilian population. The matter of indifference is expressed in most of Lane´s literature and it reflects her constant concern about the (res)signification of a path that, connected to the dominant ideas, succeeded in practices of exclusion and negligence. The purpose of this research is to understand the emphasis that Lane refers to the term as indispensable to explore human relations. Therefore, it´s through the paths taken along her academic life that the authoress identifies the immediate necessity of critical reflection about the subject presented here, recognizing, in psychologist´s performed work, the conditions to create practices that promote movements of emancipation and recognition of otherness
Estudar a realidade brasileira, reconhecendo as especificidades de nosso país, foi uma das principais contribuições deixadas por Silvia Lane. Documentos primários no acervo A Psicologia em São Paulo , do Núcleo de Estudos em História da Psicologia (NEHPsi/PUC-SP), a par de suas publicações, permitiram a compreensão de um trabalho comprometido com as questões sociais, engajado em temas que expõem as dificuldades experienciadas pela população brasileira. A questão da indiferença expressa-se em grande parte da obra de Lane e reflete sua constante preocupação com a (des)construção de um caminho que, atrelado às ideias dominantes, expressa-se em práticas de exclusão e descaso. O presente trabalho tem por objetivo compreender a ênfase com que Lane se refere ao termo como necessário para conhecer as relações humanas. Assim, é por meio dos caminhos percorridos ao longo de sua vida acadêmica que a autora identifica a necessidade premente de uma reflexão crítica acerca do tema ora apresentado, reconhecendo, no trabalho do psicólogo, as condições para a construção de práticas que favoreçam movimentos de emancipação e de reconhecimento da alteridade

Abstract:

L'eau, que ce soit l’océan Atlantique, le Río de la Plata ou la Seine, peuple l’imaginaire de Silvia Baron-Supervielle. Ces trois espaces ont marqué sa vie et sa littérature, depuis son départ d’Argentine jusqu’à son arrivée en France. Frontière naturelle qui la sépare de son pays d’origine, l’eau constitue également un chemin libre, sans frontière ni obstacle, qui l’amène de l’île Saint-Louis où elle habite jusqu’aux plages de Buenos Aires et à la baie de Montevideo qui hantent ses souvenirs. Le passé et le présent, le français et l’espagnol, s’unissent et se rejoignent à travers l’eau, pour construire une identité propre à l’auteur. L'eau est synonyme d’énergie créatrice dans son œuvre, et elle se transforme en une métaphore de l’écriture. L’eau sous toutes ces formes constitue une caractéristique fondamentale de son œuvre littéraire. De ses recueils à ses essais, en passant par ses romans, elle explique ce qui l’unit inlassablement à l’eau, sans pouvoir s’en éloigner, comment elle occupe toutes les strates de sa vie et participe à la création de son identité en tant que personne, en tant qu’exilée et en tant qu’auteur. Frontière, pont, espace créateur, chemin qui mène au passé, l’eau est l’objet auquel Silvia Baron-Supervielle s’identifie. Leitmotiv de son œuvre, elle lui permet d’évoquer le reste des thèmes qui lui sont chers, pour éviter selon elle, de « faire naufrage ». Abstract:

Colecciones fotográficas sobre el mar El Museu Marítim de Barcelona custodia más de 270.000 fotografías[i] especializadas en el mar. La rica variedad temática implica cierta complejidad en el momento de la documentación. El conocimiento del artefacto fotográfico (técnica, procesos), y también la especialización en la temática son imprescindibles para documentar las colecciones. La necesidad de aprender Los trabajos de documentación en la fotografía naval son apasionantes. Requieren unos conocimientos adquiridos con los años, fruto de la observación de miles de fotografías, leyendo de fuentes escritas y orales, y contrastando opiniones con los expertos. Este último aspecto ha sido el que, a inicios del nuevo siglo XXI, provocara la necesidad de invitar a la participación externa, apostando por una manera de trabajar transversal, que contaba con los propios recursos del museo, pero también con la generosa participación de un grupo de colaboradores integrado por especialistas de referencia en el país, y amantes de la fotografía marítima. La lagunas documentales en las propias colecciones fotográficas del museo y al mismo tiempo, el hecho de ofrecer un espacio de conocimiento a un colectivo muy especializado y comprometido, fueron los ingredientes básicos para formar el Laboratorio de expertos en fotografía naval. Un Laboratorio de expertos en fotografía naval Semanalmente el Laboratorio de expertos se reúne en el Museo para documentar, investigar y debatir sobre los temas de estudio. Por otro lado, se programan 4 sesiones anuales (abiertas al público en general) que recogen una selección de imágenes con cierta o mucha complejidad o que dan pie a contrastar información por la singularidad de los sujetos/objetos retratados. Las semanas previas a estas sesiones, se publica la selección de fotos con las preguntas en las redes sociales. El uso de las redes sociales nos permite “ampliar” nuestra aula (web corporativa, Newsletter, blog del archivo fotográfico, diferentes grupos de Facebook) invitando a un público muy interesado en el tema. Todas las anotaciones y referencias bibliográficas/documentales aprobadas por el Laboratorio se anotan en la ficha básica de catalogación del archivo fotográfico, que actualiza y mejora la eficacia. Sin duda, esta actividad ha adquirido tal impulso que está permitiendo que, no sólo se documenten fotografías del museo sino también, se van incorporando imágenes que provienen de colecciones particulares, enriqueciendo sin duda estos espacios de aprendizaje y conocimiento, al tiempo que los investigadores encuentran un lugar de debate y de respuesta a las dudas. El Laboratorio se ha convertido en un eficiente equipo de trabajo. Así pues, viendo el gran potencial del proyecto y las ganas de compartir y aprender, en estos momentos, estamos invitando a participar, por videoconferencia, a expertos/amantes de la foto naval de otras entidades y museos especializados, a fin de que se beneficien y enriquezcan estos espacios de conocimiento. Una aula sobre la fotografía de mar que sigue creciendo La variedad temática de esta fotografía tan especializada es muy amplia. Estamos trabajando temas sobre la fotografía de la marina militar, marina mercante, que es casi infinito (tipologías de barcos, navieras del país, etc), pero quedan temas tan importantes como la marina de vela, la pesca, los puertos, deportes náuticos, los trabajos en el mar, por citar algunos. Por ello, e igualmente importante, siendo conscientes de la necesidad de relevo generacional de los expertos, a corto/medio plazo, el Laboratorio invita a expertos y aficionados a la fotografía a colaborar y formarse en estas aulas de conocimiento[ii]. Confiamos que este Laboratorio sea útil por mucho más tiempo para los colectivos del sector marítimo y, en definitiva para la sociedad, pues en definitiva, aunque es una plataforma de intercambio de conocimiento sobre una fotografía muy especializada, está al servicio de toda la comunidad. Abstract:

Background: Cancer is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. In 2012, cancer was the cause of death for around 8.2 million people. Early detection of breast cancer with SADANIS method in Central Java is still low, namely 0.30% women in reproductive age. The SADANIS method is one of the government’s efforts to reduce the incidence of breast cancer. To determine the factors associated with the behavior of women on reproductive age in early detection of breast cancer using the SADANIS method in Jatirejo Village, Central Java. Subjects and Method: This was a cross sectional study conducted at Suruh Community Health Center, Jatirejo Village, Central Java. The population in this study were 604 women of reproductive age aged 20-45 years in Jatirejo Village. A total of 86 women were enrolled in this study. The dependent variable was SADANIS method. The independent variables were education, occupation, husband’s supports, and attitude. The data were collected and then analyzed using Chi-square test. Results: There was a relationship between husband’s support (OR= 4.58; p=0.015) and attitude (OR= 11.96; p<0.001) with behavior in doing SADANIS among women in reproductive age and they were statistically significant. There was no relationship between education and occupation on the breast cancer early detection using SADANIS method. Conclusion: The better the attitude, the better the behavior of women in reproductive age in early detection of breast cancer with SADANIS method in Jatirejo Village, Semarang Regency. In this work, we present a new formula for the near-field thermal radiative transfer between two spheres. The formula is identical for coated or uncoated spheres and captures the effect of the coatings in the effective Mie reflection coefficients of the spheres. We also numerically demonstrate that silica coated silver spheres transition from silver-like conductance in the far-field to surface phonon polariton dominated silica-like behavior in the extreme near-field.

Abstract:

Abstract Contrary to known art, we have discovered that lubricated tin-silver connectors have better electrical performance and are more reliable than lubricated silver-silver connectors under high-current and high-vibration conditions. The antifretting lubricant, that enhances the performance and reliability of the tin-silver connectors, is a grease consisting of a hydrocarbon oil in a nano-sized silica-particle base. Focused ion beam and scanning electron microscopy were used to understand the contact degradation mechanism. The superior electrical performance and reliability of the lubricated tin-silver connectors is due to a mechanism that replaces the tin plating from the contact surface with a coating of silver. The removal of the tin plating may be due to wear and the replacement by the silver coating may be due to an electrochemical displacement reaction.
