Abstract:
The concept of attendance monitoring has since evolved to become an integral part of every functional society. Today, in most educational institutions, students’ attendance is being taken manually by lecturers on paper-based attendance registers. However, this method is time-consuming, inaccurate and may not be available for analysis when needed because the collected data has not been stored in any database. Hence, in this paper, a fingerprintbased, wireless students’ attendance system using C# and MYSQL is developed to address the problem of truancy, human error in taking attendance and impersonation. Also, a fingerprint device with the Graphical User Interface (GUI) is modelled using C#, which was used for both enrolment and verification while MYSQL was used to model the database. The Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) is then used to send the PDF version of the attendance records to relevant stakeholders to ascertain the students’ levels of attendance. The developed system is simple, secure and cost-effective to implement. The developed system worked efficiently when experimented.

Abstract:
This paper provides a complete study on email requirements, with special emphasis on its security aspects and architecture. It explores how current protocols have evolved, the environment in which they have been developed and the evolution of security requirements. This paper also analyzes email vulnerabilities and the reasons that have motivated the exploitation of them. The threats and solutions of the most used email protocols today are detailed, such as Simple Mail Transfer Protocol, Post office Protocol, Internet Message Access Protocol protocols, among others. An analysis of the main security solutions proposed in recent years is carried out and how these threats are solved, as well as a comparison of each of them. The result of this work leads us to conclude that it is necessary to make an integral change in the protocols used in the electronic mail in order to have a secure message exchange system that meets all the security requirements demanded today. We are working on a proposal based on blockchain that solves the security problems identified in this work.

Abstract:
AbstractWWW-based user interface is presented for secure electronic mail service for healthcare users. Using this method, communications between an electronic mail (WWW) server and users (WWW browsers) can be performed securely using Secure Socket Layer protocol-based Hypertext Transfer Protocol (SSL-HTIP). The mail can be encrypted, signed, and sent to the recipients and vice versa on the remote WWW server. The merit of this method is that many healthcare users can use a secure electronic mail system easily and immediately, because SSL-compatible WWW browsers are widely used and this system can be made available simply by installing a WWW-based mail user agent on a mail server. We implemented a WWWbased mail user agent which is compatible with PEM-based secure mail and made it available to about 16,000 healthcare users. We believe this approach is effective in facilitating secure network-based information exchange among medical professionals.

Abstract:
For a safety critical computer, large-scale data like database which has to be transferred in an instant time cannot be voted directly. This paper proposes a database update algorithm for safety critical computer based on status vote, which is to vote the database status instead of database itself. This algorithm can solve the problem of voting too much data in a short time, and compare versions of database of different modules in real time. A Markov model is built to calculate the safety and reliability of this algorithm. The results show that this algorithm meets the update requirement of safety critical computer. 1. Communication protocol for database update 1.1 TFTP protocol TFTP is a simple protocol for transporting document. It usually uses the UDP protocol to realize but the TFTP does not require the specific agreement of implementation and can implement with TCP in special occasions. [This agreement is designed for small file transferring, so it doesn't have function many FTP usually does; it can only acquire or write the file from the server and not able tot list directory, not authenticate. It transfers 8 bits of data with three models: netascii, the eight-bit ASCII form; octet, the eight-bit source data type; mail, no longer supported, it returns the data back directly to the user rather than saved as a file. 1.2 SRTP Ethernet security real-time data transfer protocol

This paper leads to developing a Labview based ECG patient monitoring system for cardiovascular patient using Simple Mail Transfer Protocol technology. The designed device has been divided into three parts. First part is ECG amplifier circuit, built using instrumentation amplifier (AD620) followed by signal conditioning circuit with the operation amplifier (lm741). Secondly, the DAQ card is used to convert the analog signal into digital form for the further process. Furthermore, the data has been processed in Labview where the digital filter techniques have been implemented to remove the noise from the acquired signal. After processing, the algorithm was developed to calculate the heart rate and to analyze the arrhythmia condition. Finally, SMTP technology has been added in our work to make device more communicative and much more cost-effective solution in telemedicine technology which has been key-problem to realize the telediagnosis and monitoring of ECG signals. The technology also can be easily implemented over already existing Internet.

Abstract:
Abstract The VA Midwest Health Care Network, VISN 23, is one of 21 veteran integrated health service networks (VISN) under the Department of Veterans Affairs. There are approximately 300,000 imaging studies generated per year and currently more than 14,000 picture archiving and communication system (PACS) users in VISN 23. Biomedical Engineering Services within VISN 23 coordinates the provision of medical technology support. One emerging technology leverages network connectivity as a method of calibrating and continuously monitoring clinical display monitors in support of PACS. Utilizing a continuous calibration monitoring system, clinical displays can be identified as out of Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) compliance through a centralized server. The technical group can receive immediate notification via e-mail and respond proactively. Previously, this problem could go unnoticed until the next scheduled preventive maintenance was performed. This system utilizes simple network management protocols (SNMP) and simple mail transfer protocols (SMTP) across a wide area network for real-time alerts from a centralized location. This central server supports and monitors approximately 320 clinical displays deployed across five states. Over the past three years of implementation in VISN 23, the remote calibration and monitoring capability has allowed for more efficient support of clinical displays and has enhanced patient safety by ensuring a consistent display of images on these clinical displays.

Abstract:
Designing heterogeneous distributed systems requires of the use of tools that facilitate the deployment and the interaction between platforms. In this paper we propose using Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) and REpresentational State Transfer (REST), two main approaches for creating applications based on distributed services, for distributed computation. Our aim is to demonstrate how they could be used to develop evolution- ary computation systems on heterogeneous platforms, taking advantage of their ability to deal with heterogeneous infrastructures and environments, and giving support for parallel implementations with a high platform flexibility. Both approaches are different and present some advantages and disadvantages for interfacing to web services: SOAP is conceptually more difficult (has a steeper learning curve) and more ”heavy-weight” than REST, although it lacks of standards support for security. The results obtained on different experiments have shown that both SOAP and REST can be used as communication protocol for distributed evolutionary computation. Results obtained are comparable, however for large amounts of data (big messages), REST communications take longer than SOAP communications.

Abstract:
Virtual Private Network (VPN) is a local communication network that is connected through a public network, with private network data security, data transfer closure from illegal access and network scalability to become the main standard in Virtual Private Network (VPN). In building a VPN at PT. Penas (Persero) conducted by the method of Internet Protocol Security (IP Sec). IP Sec works on the network layer, protects and authenticates communications on IP between hosts and functions both on IPv6 and IPv4 traffic. IP Sec is actually a feature that is owned by IPv6 but by some developers it was applied to IPv4. PT. Penas (Persero) is a subsidiary of PT. PPA (Persero), which in PT. Penas, the local network system and the internet and also data communication with PT. PPA (Persero) that are used are still very simple and vulnerable to the security of its data. The results of this study are implementing VPN with IP Sec method at PT. Penas, where with the concept of IP security, internet access in conducting data communication between PT. PPA (Persero) and PT. Penas can be done quickly, realtime, and confidential. Because basically VPN is a relatively safe way of networking because it uses encryption and special protocols to provide data security.

Abstract:
Background and aims: Endometrial thickness (ET) is one of the main parameters in the success of assisted reproductive technology (ART) methods, which is influenced by sex steroids. This study investigated the effect of vaginal estrogen cream on ET in women undergoing embryo transfer. Methods: In this clinical trial, 100 infertile women candidates for embryo-fetal transfusion were enrolled in the study by a simple sampling method and then randomly divided into two treatment groups. For patients in group A, estradiol tablets were administered alone (control) and group B received the estradiol plus vaginal estrogen cream (intervention). The thickness of the endometrium was measured by ultrasound in both groups and recorded in the checklist. The rate of positive bHCG, pregnancy, and canceled cycles was evaluated in both groups as well. Finally, the data were analyzed using SPSS software. Results: Both groups were matched in terms of age (P=0.129). There was no significant difference between the groups regarding ET (P=0.651) and bHCG frequency (P=0.418) and the pregnancy rate was similar in two groups. Based on the results, the frequency of the canceled cycles was 32% and 50% in intervention and control groups (P=0.031).Eventually, no significant relationship was observed between pregnancy outcome (0.637) and the bHCG (0.553) test with ET. Conclusion: Overall, the administration of vaginal estrogen cream has no effect on ET and pregnancy rate in women under embryo transfer by applying the long protocol method in patients who referred to endometrium and endometriosis research center but it significantly reduces the eliminated cycles

Abstract:
Some of the enhancements that hit the mobile phone industry in recent years include checking email, demanded changes in the traditional ways of service delivery. People find it convenient to be able to check for incoming emails without being required to be at a fixed location. High-end mobile phones with high resolution color screens and mail clients (or plug-ins) much like the classic clients that run on desktop and laptop computers, have made mail manipulation on a mobile phone both easy and interesting. However, one key difference is the phone’s battery power source. Where power was not an issue for desktop and even many laptop computers, since they are almost all the time connected to an AC supply or have high capacity battery storage, it is a major issue for mobile phones. While email applications have greatly advanced, there has not been much improvement in mobile battery capacity. In addition the battery lifetime has decreased due to the high power demands of multimedia applications, which may be running almost constantly. Traditionally, a mail client checks for new email messages by polling the mail server. This works well with computers attached to the power mains or with a large capacity battery, but for mobile phones, polling causes significant battery drain. A solution would be to poll the server less frequently by increasing the polling interval, however this would delay email reception hence increasing latency. In this thesis we implement and evaluate a new mail delivery system without changing the underlying mail or communications infrastructure. The new system eliminates the need for polling by using network initiated mail delivery. This means that a mail server will forward mail directly to a particular user. Tests conducted with a prototype are compared to the use of the existing system in terms of power consumption and latency. These tests show that the new mail delivery system reduces both power consumption and delivery delay.

Abstract:
Transferring and receiving computer files are something most of us do on a regularbasis whether it is for private purposes or if it is work related. FTP is a protocolused for this very purpose which was launched during a time when personal computerswere growing increasingly popular in both home and workplace environments.Since then, more protocols have been introduced and today there are a number ofoptions available bringing new and common features alike to the market. The SMTPprotocol, extended with the MIME standard, is currently a widely used alternative tothe pure file transfer protocols due to the user familiarity and past experiences withthese mail services. Sending and receiving files through e-mail does however implysome limitations together with the fact that some security aspects need to be takeninto consideration, particularly for company users handling sensitive data. In thisthesis, three different file transfer protocols (SMTP, SFTP and HTTP) have all beenevaluated in account of their user friendliness as well as their security features. Theresults indicate that HTTP(S) combined with the WebDAV extension can be considereda viable alternative for organizations due to its user friendliness and security. The remaining protocols, SMTP and SFTP, also have their uses where SFTP wouldseem to be an appealing option for advanced users and where SMTP remains a passablealternative for private usage by regular users under the right conditions.

Abstract:

95
Junk mails incurring huge expense on network bandwidth and human resources have been a proven issue that enterprises have to invest more funds on system upgrade or purchasing advanced system to block junk mails. The situation goes worse recently even though the telecommunications have been putting a lot of money. Beside, the technologies related to block junk mails that misjudge normal ones bring about immense losses to enterprises. Regardless of employing the seventh layer of OSI, this paper took use of the fifth layer of OSI to reconstruct the mailing procedures to send and receive mails. The model proposed utilizes queuing system to firstly queue letters sent at send end. After the both send and receive ends come to agree on letters, letters are delivered. This model saves not only the system’s loading but ensure that the important letters will not be viewed as junk mail as well. The conventional studies on junk mail controls mostly adopt the way of learning or filtering. This paper, on the contrary, transfers the right of judgment on junk mail to receivers which effectively enhances the network performance and the trustworthiness of mails.

Abstract:
This chapter introduces to basics of computer networking and associated widely used essential networking communication protocols. The chapter provides the comparison of OSI and TCP model along with details of internet layer protocols including internet protocol (IP), IP addressing schemes, internet control messaging protocol (ICMP), etc. Next, the chapter discusses transport layer protocols transmission control protocol (TCP) and user datagram protocol (UDP) in detail. Application layer protocols including dynamic host control protocol (DHCP), secure shell (SSH), file transfer protocol (FTP), trivial FTP (TFTP), simple network management protocol (SNMP), hyper text transfer protocol secure (HTTPS), network time protocol (NTP), domain name system (DNS), and simple mail transfer protocol (SMTP) are also explained in this chapter. One just cannot attack a networking protocol without knowing how it works. Having a solid introduction about computer networking and network protocols is fundamental in the ethical hacking world. This chapter quickly revisits all essential concepts related to computer networking.

Abstract:

Abstract:
This work proposes a characterization procedure for modeling and identification of a workbench 4-DOF manipulator. The robot is a three link planar manipulator with joints connected through 4 servomotors. A decentralized approach is employed leading to four second order discrete-time linear transfer functions. Identification procedure applies amplitude modulated pseudo binary random signal (APRBS) as excitation input due to the nonlinear behavior of the system. Sensing for dynamic variables are gyroscope and accelerometers connected through an I2C protocol to a launchpad MSP432 from Texas Instruments, assembled with an ARM M4F processor. The embedded system allows sensor fusion and input signal generation such that a gray box identification may be performed. The procedure is validated through experimental data which shows the root mean square error (RMSE) with magnitude of 10⁻⁵ and the adjusted determination coefficient R²aⱼ greater than 0.92 for each system. These are findings that show the effectiveness of the presented procedure herein.

Abstract:
Abstract A protocol for obtaining an advanced TEM lamella geometry using FIB-SEM is presented. Lamella lift-out procedure might require multiple manipulation steps or even breaking the vacuum in order to reach inverted or plan-view lamella geometries. We have developed a setup which enables lamella transfer from a bulk sample onto a TEM grid within a single, very simple manipulation step, with no need to break the vacuum or unload the sample. Most importantly, this approach does not require any additional devices to be installed.
