Abstract Mammatus are hanging lobes on the underside of clouds. Although many different mechanisms have been proposed for their formation, none have been rigorously tested. In this study, three-dimensional numerical simulations of mammatus on a portion of a cumulonimbus cirruslike anvil are performed to explore some of the dynamic and microphysical factors that affect mammatus formation and evolution. Initial conditions for the simulations are derived from observed thermodynamic soundings. Five observed soundings are chosen—four were associated with visually observed mammatus and one was not.

According to the experimental results of the long-base silicon magnetic sensitive diode, this paper adopted ATLAS software to establish the two dimensional simulation model in order to research the negative resistance characteristics of the long-base silicon magnetic sensitive diode. Deep impurities were introduced into the long base to study the effect of the concentration and the distribution of deep impurities on the current-voltage characteristics of the long-base silicon magnetic sensitive diode. The simulation results showed that the deep impurity in the long base was the main factor tha

Based on two kinds of upper mould bases real structures of high speed punch, the structure was simplified and simulation models were built in next step. According to working condition of actual temperature changes and moving characteristics for the high speed punch, the thermal boundary conditions, the thermal- stress coupling conditions and mechanical constraint conditions of the simulation model were set up, and the deformation for the guiding hole of upper mould base were got through simulation analysis. Through the comparison of the two simulation results, it illustrated that the improved

RNA functions are intrinsically tied to folding kinetics. The most elementary step in RNA folding is the closing and opening of a base pair. Understanding this elementary rate process is the basis for RNA folding kinetics studies. Previous studies mostly focused on the unfolding of base pairs. Here, based on a hybrid approach, we investigate the folding process at level of single base pairing/stacking. The study, which integrates molecular dynamics simulation, kinetic Monte Carlo simulation, and master equation methods, uncovers two alternative dominant pathways: Starting from the unfolded sta

Abstract The finite element model is established based on the bench test of the landmine blast protection package. The effect of the air gap between the landmine blast protection package and the base plate as well as the stiffness of the package on the deformation of the base plate are investigated. Aluminum sandwich landmine blast protection packages are designed and the effects on the deformation suppression of the base plate are studied using the finite element model. The results show that the air gap is not conducive to the deformation suppression of the base plate. Increasing the stiffnes

Abstract This paper explains the design and simulation of nonlinear static 2D and steady state thermal for sustainability downlight casing base. The main problem in designing of downlight casing base is to ensure the heat transferred to the surrounding while maintaining the quality of light. This study simulates of 6-in casing base downlight and Polycarbonate/acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (PC-ABS) based material. New product design methodology was presented using SolidWorks simulation to represent the phenomena of heat transfer in the downlight casing base at the design stage. The result sho
