That stipulated time may be a future specific date, or the debt may be payable on demand or on the occurrence of some defined future event. In order to be a debt, the money must be due as a matter of legal obligation, that is, arising out of a contract or a deed. At times—particularly for accounting and tax purposes—attempts are made to further classify debts. One classification of debt is known as ‘book debt’. Recent UK estimates suggest that fine particulate pollution causes about 6500 deaths per year, although it is not clear how many years of life are lost as a result. Some deaths may just be brought forward by a few days or weeks, while others may be truly premature. Globally, household

Abstract We studied the cross-interface heat conduction in a nanodiamond-molecule-carbon nanotube heterostructure by nonequilibrium molecular dynamics simulations, where single-molecule junction is an asymmetric molecular structure of p-phenylenes with NH-C=O as the anchoring group. We found an interesting phenomenon that when the number of phenyls is odd (i.e. n = 1, 3, and 5), interfacial thermal conductance increases with temperature increasing from 100 K to 400 K, and then decreases after temperature greater than 400 K. When the number of phenyls is even (i.e. n = 2, 4, and 6), the interfa

Drawing on data from interviews, mainstream and social media platforms, and political manifestos, this paper examines the strategies adopted by Amhara nationalists to construct a collective Amhara identity. Amhara nationalism emerged in response to the structural violence inflicted on the Amhara by the Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF), which seized power in 1991. The EPRDF, an alliance of ethnonationalist fronts with an anti-Amhara stance, perpetrated various forms of structural violence against the Amhara, including killings, evictions, economic marginalization, polit

Abstract Tube-to-tube ties and their arrangement within the tube array are shown to affect the onset of fluidelastic instability. The influence of tie arrangement for a single tube row and for an in-line tube array is obtained by numerical simulation using S.S. Chen’s unsteady flow theory. Maps of dimensionless critical velocities for groups of tubes consisting of 2, 3, 4 and 5 tubes tied to each other are developed for several design configurations. It is shown that the stability limits can be raised by appropriate choice of tube group and tie location.

Abstract:
Generally, policymakers and tax analysts (as well as donors concerned about gender equity) have not made proper consideration about how tax policies and tax reforms can interact with gendered cultural norms in developing countries. However, there are worries that tax systems are biased against women and that recent tax reforms may increase the incidence of taxes on women and other underprivileged groups – while, at the same time, failing to garner sufficient tax revenue to fund social programmes necessary to enhance their lives. Since women in developing countries are particularly vulnerable t

The general goal was to identify, map, and tag, with DNA markers, segments of chromosomes of a wild species (wild emmer wheat, the progenitor of cultivated wheat) determining the number, chromosomal locations, interactions, and effects of genes that control quantitative traits when transferred to a cultivated plant (bread wheat). Slight modifications were introduced and not all objectives could be completed within the human and financial resources available, as noted with the specific objectives listed below: 1. It examines: the diversity of women’s motivations to participate in community-based armed groups in Kenya; women’s roles and agency within community-based armed groups, communal conflicts, as well as community security and peacebuilding structures; and gender dynamics in conflict ecosystems, including social perceptions about women’s engagement in conflict. This adjustment was reflected in the beginning of the convergence of inflation towards the target, which closed the year at 9.3%. This adjustment is an important step forward in the Board of Directors’ (BDBR) intention to drive inflation toward its target by mid-2025. We then profile all ride-hailing taxes in the United States, classifying these taxes according to common attributes and pointing out what details of legislation or history distinguishes each tax. There is a growing recognition that offshore structures fundamentally distort the world map of foreign direct investment (FDI). This paper advances efforts to map the ultimate owners hidden in official data behind offshore or ‘phantom’ FDI by using a novel methodology to deconstruct the ultimate origins of FDI in the US, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Brazil, Russia, India, and China. In contrast to previous studies, this methodology unpicks distortions created by the offshore re-domiciliation of corporate groups at the parent level, in addition to subsidiary level, by determining the ‘true’ ulti
