Hambardzumyan, Tatul Garegin. "The Book of Sirach in the Armenian biblical tradition : Yakob Nalean and his commentary on Sirach." Thesis, University of Sheffield, 2014. http://etheses.whiterose.ac.uk/7054/.

Abstract:
The extreme complexity of Sirach’s text at times makes it almost impossible to come to one clear conclusion as regards certain issues. There are numerous differences between various translations of this deuterocanonical text. In addition, the Armenian translation, being a textual witness to not one but multiple parent texts, has its own complications. This research provides a sustained theological reading of the Armenian text of Sirach on the basis of Yakob Nalean’s commentary written in the 18th century. At the same time it places a great emphasis on the textual evaluation of the various versions of Sirach in Armenian. In this respect an attempt has been made to display the unique features of the Armenian Sirach within the wider scope of the scholarship of this biblical text. Through a comprehensive linguistic and theological analysis of some major parts of Sirach in Armenian, this study assesses the extent to which this book was in use amongst Armenians throughout the centuries. In particular, the numerous references to Sirach in both Armenian and non-Armenian patristic literature are examined, with the aim of dating the first translations into Armenian and tracing the development of the text in the Armenian medieval schools.

Askin, Lindsey A. "Scribal culture in Ben Sira (Sir 38:1-15; 41:1-15; 43:11-19; 44-50)." Thesis, University of Cambridge, 2016. https://www.repository.cam.ac.uk/handle/1810/255388.

Full text
Abstract:
The Book of Ben Sira, written at some point between 198 and 175 BCE, is a Second Temple Jewish wisdom text which regularly echoes or quotes the Hebrew Bible. A recent area of study in biblical scholarship has been that of scribal culture, written sources and physical remains left behind by societies with manuscripts and a scribal profession. While scholarship on Ben Sira has centred on his use of texts and on his sociocultural background, these issues might be better understood by examining Ben Sira through the lens of scribal culture as understood in biblical scholarship. This thesis proposes first to study the primary data of Ben Sira closely in order to discern characteristics of Ben Sira's individual scribalism or personal compositional style. This can then be compared to other evidence of ancient scribal culture. The central argument of the thesis is that the lens of scribal culture tells us more about the complexity of this ancient composition. Chapter One introduces the thesis and covers scholarship on Ben Sira and on scribal culture. Chapter Two examines the portrayals of Noah (Sir 44:17-18) and Phineas (Sir 45:23-26), exploring how Ben Sira uses one major biblical source in each. Looking at the portrayals of Hezekiah-Isaiah (Sir 48:17-25) and Josiah (Sir 49:1-3), Chapter Three highlights the harmonization of multiple sources. Chapter Four examines Ben Sira's lines on weather (Sir 43:11-19) in order to evaluate the relationship between quotation and literary model. Chapter Five approaches the sociocultural and textual spheres on the subjects of death and the body (Sir 41:1-15). Chapter Six investigates Ben Sira's perspectives on physicians (Sir 38:1-15) in the light of ancient medicine. Each of the selected passages shed a slightly different light on the scribalism of Ben Sira.

Maston, Jason. "Divine and human agency in Second Temple Judaism and Paul : a comparison of Sirach, Hodayot, and Romans 7–8." Thesis, Durham University, 2009. http://etheses.dur.ac.uk/11/.

Full text
Abstract:
Recent scholarship on Second Temple Judaism and Paul has maintained that both held “salvation” to be through God’s grace not human obedience. This study challenges this claim. Based on Josephus’ portrayal of the Jewish schools, the Second Temple period appears more diverse than recent scholarship has claimed. One of the key distinguishing factors, according to Josephus, is the relationship between divine and human action. This diversity is revealed in Sirach, the Hodayot, and Paul’s claims in Romans 7.7–8.13. Ben Sira argues that the divine-human relationship revolves around human obedience to the law. He utilises the two-ways tradition to develop his view. He describes God as re-acting to human obedience in judgment. The Hodayot, by contrast, emphasise God’s initiative and his saving actions. Humans are immeasurably corrupt creatures, but God, through his Spirit, predestines some, gives knowledge to them, and purifies them. These divine acts lead to human obedience. The study of Paul’s view on divine and human agency is extremely complex. Romans 7.7–8.13 is used as the way into Paul’s thought. In Romans 7.7–25, Paul portrays the speaker as the human agent of the two-ways tradition. He argues that this view fails to explain the problem of Sin. In Romans 8.1–13, he contends that obedience becomes possible because God has acted in his Son to condemn Sin. Through the Spirit, God empowers believers to fulfil the righteous requirement of the law. This study challenges the idea that all of Judaism can be explained under a single view of salvation. Recognising the diversity allows one to situate Paul firmly within a Jewish context without distorting either the Jewish texts or Paul.

White, Heather Elizabeth. "Sirani, Iole and Protofeminism in Early Modern Bologna." BYU ScholarsArchive, 2019. https://scholarsarchive.byu.edu/etd/7517.

Full text
Abstract:
Elisabetta Sirani (1638-1665), a Bolognese artist, significantly contributed to the Italian protofeminist tradition through her three depictions of the classical figure Iole. These images are drastically different than other depictions of the time period because Sirani shows Iole as an isolated figure removed from her turbulent relationship with Hercules. By focusing on Iole as an individual, Sirani allowed Iole to be seen away from the male gaze; in doing so, Iole encompassed masculine characteristics while maintaining her sovereignty and femininity. Sirani's paintings of the strong and confident Iole are clear evidence that not only was Sirani inspired by the receptive environment in which she was raised, but she was also actively empowering women through her art and advancing the protofeminist tradition in early modern Italy.

Abstract:
Elisabetta Sirani (1638-1665) was a Bolognese 17th century women painter. Bologna was considered a philogynous city, since many Bolognese women were famous for their erudition and for being laureates in literature and sciences. Elisabetta Sirani was not an exception, she was a well-educated and cultured woman whose occupation as a painter was mostly seen as a virile one. Elisabetta Sirani’s profile presents both a biographical and iconographic interest ; a double orientation that closely relates art to literature. Elisabetta Sirani was part of history too as her character was reintrepreted by various literary genres. The 19th century revealed the reinterpretation of a chronicle into a myth

_____________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT
Traditionally considered a “literature of resistance”, the apocalypses have been treated over the past decades as a purely literary genre. Under this understanding, those studying these texts foregrounded textual and exegetical issues, isolated the modes of thought, and identified their social contexts. This framework does not always suit, however, many apocalypses written in the early centuries of the Common Era, especially those assigned to Daniel. Composed in various languages and mostly without signs of mutual dependence, many of these texts are supported by different traditions, such as the coming of Antichrist or the “revolt of the peoples of the north” at the end of times, led by Gog and Magog. The Syriac Apocalypse of Daniel, virtually unknown until early this century, seems to be one of them: its text is used in this thesis as a research tool for better understanding the history of the Syriac Christianity in the seventh century. The following issues are considered here: (1) The reception of the Book of Daniel in the early church; (2) The origins and associations of Gog, Magog and Antichrist; (3) The original text of the Syriac Apocalypse of Daniel and its translation into Portuguese; and (4) A critical commentary on the Syriac Apocalypse of Daniel. The findings indicate that the Syriac Apocalypse of Daniel, focused on the imminent end of history, did not provide the necessary hope, defined in political terms, for the survival of the Byzantine Empire.

Whatever power or prestige he enjoyed at the beginning of the play, has been taken away from him by force. This paper focuses on how Lear has been devalued as a person throughout the play. By focusing on moral value and monetary value, this paper demonstrates how Lear’s own actions as well as his advanced age lead to his declination from King to a beast of burden.

Abstract:
Much attention has been recently devoted to sensorially active substances affecting beer quality in the Czech Republic and worldwide. Among them, the heterocyclic and sulphur containing compounds play an important role, some of them with high sensorial activity even in extremely low concentrations. Trace amounts of these compounds, which can be frequently found in foods, participate in formation of their aroma and this effect can be generally evaluated as favorable However, in malt or beer it is true only to a limited extent and the presence of heterocyclic and sulphur containing compounds are in this respect assessed rather unfavorably. The aim of the present study was to provide a survey about of problems in the field of sulphur containing compounds in barley, malt and beer, to describe metabolic paths leading to their formation and to verify experimentally possibilities of their determination using modern analytical methods. Sulphur-containing amino acids are a natural part of barley, malt and beer and are precursors of the origin of volatile sulphur substances. The most frequently occurring sulphur amino acids, metionine, cysteine and homocysteine, were selected for analytical monitoring. The method of gas chromatography was used to determine sulphur-containing amino acids in barley, malt and beer. Prior to the analysis, sulphur-containing amino acids were derived and volatile N(O,S)-ethoxycarbonyl propyl esters were formed; they were subsequently analyzed using the gas chromatography with mass detector (GC/ MSD) and the gas chromatography with flame photo detector (GC/ FPD). Direct analysis of sulphur volatile substances is possible only rarely as they are found in the analyzed matrices (malt, beer) only in very low concentrations ( g/kg,l - ng/kg,l). Before the analysis, the analytes must be extracted from the matrix and concentrated. The modern analytical methods SPME (Solid Phase Micro Extraction), SPDE (Solid Phase Dynamic Extraction) and TDAS (Thermal Desorption Autosampler) were experimentally compared for the extraction and subsequent concentration of sulphur volatile substances. The method of gas chromatography with flame photo detector was used to determine sulphur volatile substances. Following volatile sulphur substances were monitored: dimethyl sulphide, dimethyl disulphide, dimethyl trisulphide, carbon disulphide, ethyl sulphide, diethyl disulphide, methionol, 3-methylthiophen, ethyl thioacetate, 2-methyl-1-buthanthiol. Only metionine was detected in significant amounts in the barley samples analyzed. Not only content but also dependence on a variety and locality were studied. Further, changes in methionine, cysteine and PDMS content during malting were followed. Results proved a significant decline in these substances content depending on the kilning temperature. Three types of fibers were tested for the analyses of the selected volatile sulphur substances in beer in the SPME method. PEG - a fiber with stationary phase Carbowax, PDMS - a fiber with stationary phase polydimethylsiloxan and a combined fiber CAR/PDMS - Carboxen and polydimethylsiloxan. Carbon disulphide, methionol, dimethyl sulphide, 3-methylthiophen and diethyl disulphide were detected with this method. Content of the other analyzed volatile sulphur substances was below the limit of detection. Further was tested usage the SPDE and TDAS methods. Both methods appear to be the suitable for the determination of volatile sulphur substances in beer.

Abstract:
Volatile sulphur substances originating during technological processes in malt and beer production can be a cause of various off-flavors and aromas. Their precursors are sulphur-containing amino acids. Sulphur substances play an important role in brewing as even in very low concentrations they can negatively affect total character of beer. Therefore, it is necessary to monitor volatile sulphur substances and their precursors to eliminate undesirable processes. Because sulphur substances occur in beer and raw materials at trace levels, microanalytical methods are used for their detection. This diploma thesis describes the problems of sulphur substances and their determination using the SPME/GC method.

Mattiazzo, Serena. "Performances of the Ion Electron Emission Microscope at SIRAD." Doctoral thesis, Università degli studi di Padova, 2008. http://hdl.handle.net/11577/3425031.

Full text
Abstract:
When an energetic ion strikes a microelectronic device it induces current transients that may lead to a variety of undesirable Single Event Effects (SEE). An important part of the activity of the SIRAD heavy ion facility at the 15 MV Tandem accelerator of the INFN Laboratories of Legnaro (Italy) concerns SEE studies of microelectronic devices destined for radiation hostile environments. An Ion Electron Emission Microscope (IEEM) is working at the SIRAD facility. In the IEEM technique, a broad ion beam irradiates a device under test (DUT) and the secondary electrons emitted by the target surface by each ion impact are collected and focused by a commercial electron emission microscope onto a fast electron detector. The spatial (x and y coordinates) and the temporal information of the ion impacts are then correlated to the SEE induced in the device under test and a SEE sensitivity map is obtained. An IEEM can achieve resolutions better than 1um, comparable to the ones achieved by nuclear microprobes techniques where the DUT is systematically scanned with micrometric precision with a microfocused beam. For a heavy ion microbeam to work one must meet severe requirements in terms of beam monochromaticity and stability. The IEEM poses no such requests. In this thesis we describe in detail the IEEM apparatus working at SIRAD facility and the performed experiments, with an initial discussion on the physical aspects involved in radiation hardness testing.

Full text
Abstract:
Effects of trellising on water use, absorption of photosynthetically active radiation (PAR, 400 to 700 nm wavelength) by foliage and potentially by fruit, fruit composition, and yield were studied in 1988 under semi-arid conditions on field-grown Vitis vinifera L. 'Petite Sirah' grapevines in a mature vineyard. The positioning of shoots on trellises resulted in canopies that were (1) positioned vertically (vertical canopy), (2) positioned in a "V" pattern with sides inclined 60° from horizontal (inclined canopy), and (3) inclined toward the vineyard floor (standard canopy). Seasonal water use values determined from neutron scattering data were 393 ± 61, 554 ± 73, and 455 ± 57 mm for the standard, vertical and inclined canopies, respectively. On average, about 50% of seasonal water consumption occurred between fruit set and filling stages for each type of canopy. Average crop factors (ratio of actual to reference crop evapotranspiration) of 0.383, 0.540 and 0.444 were for the period bud burst to harvest for standard, vertical and inclined canopy systems, respectively. The diurnal water use patterns of the three trellising canopies were very similar when measured by either the heat pulse technique or by porometer. The average daily heat pulse velocity (HPV) for selected vertical, inclined and standard canopies for 6 days were 8.77, 7.58 and 6.85 cm h⁻¹, respectively. The HPV technique indicated that the average daily water use of the whole plant was 0.227, 0.192 and 0.137 kg/m² leaf area/d for standard, vertical and inclined canopies, respectively. The daily average transpiration rates as measured by the HPV technique were 32, 31, and 25% higher than the average transpiration rates estimated from porometer data for standard, vertical and inclined canopies, respectively. Stomatal conductances of the vertical and inclined canopies were 20 and 40%, respectively, below that of standard canopy. PAR absorption by foliage during mid-day was highest in the standard trellis, and lowest in the inclined trellis. PAR potentially available for absorption by fruits was lowest in the standard trellis, and highest in the inclined trellis. In both inclined and vertical canopies, the average sunfleck values were 26%, but was only 2% in the standard canopy. Analysis of fruit composition at harvest revealed that total dissolved solids (°Brix) was significantly higher in the inclined trellis than for the vertical trellis or the standard trellis. The inclined trellis resulted in the highest alcohol content of wine. Per vine yields did not differ significantly among the three trellis systems. Overall, the standard trellis was optimum because grapevines consumed less water and produced a shading which protected the fruit from direct solar radiation.

Shah, Bashir Hussain. "Land use optimization and sediment yield model for Siran Watershed (Pakistan)." Diss., The University of Arizona, 1985. http://hdl.handle.net/10150/191104.

Full text
Abstract:
The main objective of this study is an assessment of the potential of applying land use optimization methods for minimizing the sediment yield from catchments. The study area is the Siran watershed, a subwatershed of the Tarbela watershed in Pakistan which drains directly into the Tarbela reservoir. It has an area of 4Ub sq. miles and receives 47.82 inches annual average precipitation. The main land use practices on the Siran Watershed are agriculture, rangeland grazing and forestry. A stochastic model for simulating daily precipitation and another for simulating daily maximum temperatures are developed for the area. The synthetic daily precipitation events are transformed into daily streamflows by the soil moisture counting streamflow model using the synthetic daily maximum temperatures as input. The streamtlow model, called the Generalized Streamflow Simulation System, is modified and used for simulating baseflow recessions. The stochastic precipitation model, the stochastic temperature model and the deterministic streamflow models were combined with the deterministic sediment yield model for simulating sediment yield from the watershed. The modified Universal Soil Loss Equation was used for simulating sediment yield. Parameters at these models were determined from data taken on the Siran Watershed. A linear program was used for land use optimization to minimize sediment yield and maximize watershed production. Both optimization processes ended up with the same land use areas allocating the Maximum area for forests. The expected sediment yield was reduced by 2.5 times and production of watershed was doubled. Optimization of crops was accomplished by maximizing the production of agriculture lands. This resulted in the allocation of major agriculture land areas for apple orchards. By adopting the final optimized land use practices, the sediment yield can be reduced to half and watershed production can be increased six times. The results of the present study are encouraging and indicate that application of land use optimization methods for reducing sediment yields nave great potential on the study area and on other subwatersheds of the Tarbela and Manyla Watersheds. The methodology developed in this study can provide a useful tool for watershed managers to reduce sediment yields and increase the income of the local inhabitants by maximizing the agriculture production in other parts of the country.

Abstract:
This essay is derived from a case study about the SIRA school in Betlehem. SIRA is classified as a special education school with financial support from the Swedish International Relief Association. SIRA acts to provide support for children with reading and writing difficulties in their daily school work. The study's aim to describe the context for SIRA's specialized educational activity.  The formulated questions should provide answers to which factors that influence SIRA's work, its goals, development, and the distinguished pedagogical approach. During the research comprehensive interviews were conducted with parties which can influence the way schools operate and provide the necessary support for students.  Factors that influence the school's operation are analyzed from a ecological development perspective created by Urie Bronfenbrenner. The theory advocates that a student's development and interaction mainly comes from participating in activities, social roles and relations. This constant process of mutual adaptation between the developing individual and its surrounding environment is to be defined as its own entity.  The result shows that SIRA's practice a special educational operation with focus on an approach which strengthens the student's identity and communicational skills.

Silvestrin, Luca. "Characterization of Electronic Circuits with the SIRAD IEEM: Developments and First Results." Doctoral thesis, Università degli studi di Padova, 2011. http://hdl.handle.net/11577/3421637.

Full text
An axial Ion Electron Emission Microscope (IEEM) is working at the SIRAD irradiation facility. It is devised to provide a micrometric sensitivity map of Single Event Effects of an electronic device. The IEEM system reconstructs the positions of individual random ion impacts over a circular area of 180 µm diameter by imaging the ion-induced secondary electrons emitted from the target surface. A fast Data Acquisition system (DAQ) is used to reconstruct the X and Y coordinates and the temporal information of every ion impact. Any signal induced by the SEE in a generic DUT can be used to tag the IEEM reconstructed event. This information is then used to display a map of the regions of the DUT surface which are sensitive to the impinging ions. In this thesis we introduce the subject of the effects of ionizing radiation on microelectronics circuits and systems. We then describe in detail the IEEM system, especially how it was modified and improved during the period of our work. We present the results of an extensive study of the IEEM resolution and image distortions, performed using high statistics acquisitions obtained with a 241 MeV 79Br ion beam by means of a fast SDRAM-based ion induced single event detection system, specifically designed for this purpose. We also describe a new feature implemented in the DAQ system which enables the IEEM to perform Time Resolved Ion Beam Induced Charge Collection (TRIBICC) studies, and show preliminary results obtained studying a MOSFET power transistor. We also studied a digital microelectronic circuit (SOI-Imager Shift Register) in two steps: we measured the SEU cross-section with our broad-beam facility at SIRAD, and then used the IEEM to acquire a SEU sensitivity map. At present the resolution of the IEEM at SIRAD is not close to the theoretical one. In this thesis we also describe an extensive set of studies we performed to investigate the origin of the resolution degradation. The conclusions follow and close this work.

Abstract:
This thesis is a study of Mughultai's work entitled al-Zahr al-basim fi siyar Abi al-Qasim (literally "Smiling blossom in the siras of Abu al-Qasim") and seeks to place it within the wider genre of slra literature. The thesis argues that this work of Mughultai is not a sira as has generally been believed until now. Instead, I argue that al-Zahr is a commentary similar to the work upon which it tries to comment: the famous commentary on Ibn Hisham's (d. ca. 218/812-3) sira by al-Suhayi (d. 581/1185), al-Rawd al-unuf A narrative of Muhammad's life is provided by another work of MughultaJI, entitled Kitab al-Ishara, which the author himself described as an abridged version of al-Zahr. The reasons for my interpretation of al-Zahr are presented in Chapter 3 of the thesis. This chapter attempts to describe the genre of sira by proposing several fundamental characteristics that distinguish it from other genres of Muslim literary and historical tradition. In a wider sense, the thesis is concerned with the development of sira literature. Here I compare early works with those of later periods to identify changes and shifts within this broad corpus of texts. Due to the sheer amount of the material, I have identified several particularly rich case studies in around fifteen works of sira representing various stages of its development. In analyzing these cases as well as contemporary scholarly approaches to the study of sira, I address questions such as how do we recognize a work of sira; what is the place of sira in relation to other representatives of Muslim literary tradition; and how far does slra reflect the concerns and preconceptions of the generations that produced our sira texts? These questions are addressed with the aim of understanding the dynamics of this complex literature and how the authors working within the tradition perceived their task in relation to its aim and purposes, not with the aim of historical reconstruction of the life of the Prophet. Finally, the biography of the author of my main text, Mughultai is re-examined by utilising primary sources of the period. This examination takes into account the political, social and intellectual milieu of his time and its effect on his scholarly career.

Jehangir, Shahzad. "Modelling the hydrological impacts of land cover change in the Siran Basin, Pakistan." Thesis, University of Leicester, 1995. http://hdl.handle.net/2381/34486.

Full text
Abstract:
Many forested catchments in northern Pakistan have undergone land cover change during the last few decades. Extreme floods and extended droughts observed in these areas have lead to the question: How do human influences affect the water balance of a montane catchment. The underlying socio-political factors that have lead to the changes in forest cover and catchment hydrology are well documented, but there have been very few efforts to spatially correlate the cover changes with the catchment water balance. A deterministic model based on high resolution spatial and temporal data offers the ability to simulate the hydrological impacts of changes in land cover in a spatial context. In an attempt to assess the impacts of changing forest covers on individual hydrological processes, a GIS-based model Siran_HYDMAPS has been developed for the Siran Basin, Pakistan. This model integrates the spatial databases with the well-known hydrological process algorithms (e.g. Penman-Monteith evpotranspiration and Green-Ampt infiltration models). Spatially distributed static (topographic and soil) parameters for this model are extracted from a regional GIS developed specifically for the project. The dynamic (vegetation-related) parameters are estimated from the land cover maps, derived by digital processing of multi-resolution, multi-temporal Landsat MSS (5.3.1979) and TM (10.7.1989). Relative relief and shadowing in rugged terrain of the Himalayan foothills, that cause major problems in image processing, have been given particular attention. A rule-based approach was adopted to refine land cover maps with the integration of GIS for mapping the level II forest classes. Mapping of forest cover changes was carried out by post-classification change detection techniques. The Siran_HYDMAPS predicts a decrease in radiation balance and interception capacity, and an increase in evapotranspiration and catchment response of the Siran Basin, as a result of land cover changes. It was concluded that the water imbalances in this catchment, observed during the last two decades, were caused by the integrated effects of land cover changes and climatic factors.

Abstract:

Abstract:
This thesis explores the meaning and significance of the form of Ibn Ishaq’s Sirat Rasul Allah. It asks the questions: What are the possible reasons for Ibn Ishaq choosing a narrative form for this biography of Muhammad? What does a narrative format grant the text? Are there historical factors which could have influenced the decision? What other influences affected the text? Finally, what are the implications of Ibn Ishaq’s decision to use a narrative form? Taking into consideration narrative theory, the historical setting, and textual evidence, the thesis argues that Ibn Ishaq chose the format most likely to control the image of Muhammad, thus controlling the conversation of what Islam should be. The implications of this view affect how one understands the usages of the Sira as well as the historicity of the text.

Full text
Abstract:
The fact that Ben Sira seemingly has a negative attitude towards women or femininity can easily lead to the assumption that the work has a negative attitude toward sexuality. However, this thesis will seek to demonstrate that the author's view on sexuality is complex, subtle, and depends on the context of the individual sayings. First of all we have to make a distinction between the attitudes of the writer of the original Hebrew text of the book and that of the Greek translator. The two texts, produced in different social settings, circumstances, times and places, differ substantially at times in regard to sexuality. Therefore it is essential to treat them separately and to compare them. In addition, the Book of Ben Sira, the longest Jewish wisdom book, is a complex combination of carefully composed wisdom poems that structure the whole work, and of teachings on everyday issues including marriage, family life, self-control, desires and passions, and sexual promiscuity. The openness about issues of eroticism that characterizes some of the poems concerning personified female wisdom is unprecedented in the wisdom writings of Second Temple Judaism. Similarly, the sage dedicates a greater number of passages than other wisdom books, to the discussion of social relations especially in regard to family. In so doing his regular point of departure seems to be what benefits or damages these relations mean, and whether they bring disgrace to a person, especially through sexuality. These all have bearings on the author’s and translator’s views of sexuality, including the position a person or situation under discussion might have in the sage’s social value system. Therefore the thesis examines the wisdom poems, and all sayings that concern sexuality found in discussions of passions, relations with parents, daughters and sons, wives and husbands, and warnings against sexual wrongdoing, including prostitution and adultery. All this is done with a special regard to the differences between the Hebrew original text and the Greek translation.
