Full textBackground: Organizations change and transition more to team-based structure and develop with autonomous teams. Autonomous teams have shown increased efficiency and productivity in organizations. The organizational structure and culture that the teams possess is considered unique with the pursuit of authority in everyday work and decision-making. It is challenging with autonomous teams that will consist of individuals who rely on each other with a shared responsibility and work towards a common goal. At first thought, autonomous teams are built on the basis of being leaderless. Purpose: The purpose of the study is to investigate and increase the understanding of everyday decision-making within autonomous teams. What is meant to be investigated is the understanding of the approach of decision-making as well as the power of team members for the day-to-day work of the teams. Method: The method used in this study is a qualitative research method with an abductive approach. The empirical material collected for the study is based on seven semi-structured interviews as well as a variety of secondary data from the selected manufacturing company. The collected empirical material intends to use the theoretical frame of reference to analyze similarities and differences between the teams and previous research. Conclusion: The study confirms previous research that autonomous teams should control their own responsibility and everyday decision-making. The study illustrates that the definition of autonomous teams is limited and the need for support from leadership roles is needed.

Full textTitle: Agile leadership – a way to lead an organization with the employee as the main focus. Authors: Anna Hillerbratt, Victor Fors & Sara Sandén Institution: Linnaeus University, School of Business and Economics. Program: Human Resource Management. Course: Business Administration III – Organization, Supervisor: Olle Duhlin Examiner: Mikael Lundgren Purpose: The purpose of this study is to create an understanding of agile leadership through the interpretation and valuation of organizational behaviors. The purpose is also to understand if and how agile leadership can be applied to organizations regardless of whether or not agile methods are used. The study is interesting for students and leaders, but also individuals who are interested in how leadership can develop in relation to future organizations. Methodology: A case study that adresses agile leadership from an organizational perspective. The study was conducted with a qualitative method and an inductive approach. Conclusions: We have, through previous research, perceived that the focus of the agile methodologies initially was based on the practical application of agile methods and that there was no leadership theory based on the two main purposes of the agile approach. The results of the study is therefore a self-developed VAS-model. The basic principle of the model is: With the employees as the main focus we create an attractive workplace and a profitable organization, an organization that ensures frequent delivery of quality, thus meeting customer needs and being responsive to change. Key words: agile, agile approach, leadership, self-organizing teams, communication, motivation, flexibility.

Full textAbstract Title: “Only narcissists and dictators dislike decentralized organizations”- A case study of working environment in an employee controlled organization Authors: Madeleine Brolin, Mattias Vall and Sandra Permerud Institution: School of Business and Economics at Linnaeus University Course: Business Administration III - Organization, bachelor thesis, 15 credit Supervisor: Hans Wessblad Examiner: Mikael Lundgren Purpose: The purpose of our candidate essay is to investigate in what ways working environment is affected by employee controlled organisations. Method: This is a case study of an employee controlled organization. The study has a deductive approach and has assumed a qualitative research strategy with the purpose of achieving a deeper understanding of how respondents perceive their working environment. The primary data has been collected through ten semi structured interviews. The theoretical framework derives from the job demand-control-support model. Conclusion: An employee controlled organization amount to high demands of participation, commitment and decision making. Our study has shown that high levels of control that prevails in an employee controlled organisation can be perceived as demands. An employee controlled organization also postulates that individuals is available to and support colleagues, it is also expected of individuals to ask for help when needed. Accordingly we find that the social support is crucial to be able to handle the high demands and high control of an employee controlled organization.
