Full textBackground: Sweden is becoming increasingly multicultural, which characterizes health care today. Nursing profession is all about providing good health care for all, and the nurse is expected to hold an increasing cultural competence. Despite this, studies show that there are gaps in communication and response in transcultural nursing. Purpose: To describe nurses' experiences of the transcultural caring relationship. Method: A literature review where the materials from ten qualitative studies were used. Results: The results are presented in terms of three themes and five subthemes: Obstacles to perform a good nursing with subthemes language difficulties, emotions and drama and organizational factors, Relatives - a challenge, nurse's views on transcultural nursing with subthemes, lack of training in transcultural nursing and being self-conscious and aware of cultural differences. Conclusion: This study's results confirm what previous studies have said that the language barrier is a major obstacle in the transcultural caring relationship. Language barriers could overcome with the help of an interpreter. Since the nurses did not always have access to an interpreter they used relatives. Family’s presence felt both positive, but also as an obstacle in nursing. Education in religion and culture is needed to be more cultural competent. In addition to this life experience along with experience of working in a multicultural environment is necessary. Clinical significance: There is a need for more training in the area of transcultural nursing in nursing education. The availability of a qualified interpreter should also be facilitated in nursing so patients’ needs can be met.

Full textBackground: approximately 5000 nurses are examined each year in Sweden. A nurse has many tasks in addition to the care around the patient. As a person, the nurse should be respectful and show compassion. Experienced nurses felt that newly graduated nurses lacked the knowledge required to independently exercise the profession. The experienced nurses felt responsible for the newly graduated nurses, saying that, among other things, they experienced tiredness and fatigue.Aim: to describe newly graduate nurse´s experience of working as a nurse. Furthermore, the aim of this study was to examine the sampling of the included articles.Methods: a literature study with a descriptive design. The eleven scientific articles included in the study were quantitative, qualitative and mixed approaches. The articles were searched in the PubMed database.Main results: newly graduated nurses felt that good guidance promoted the development of knowledge, but that several factors negatively affected self-confidence in the professional role; including the lack of clinical experience. Experiences of hierarchy and bullying were described as well as the communication leading to experiences of stress. The fact that newly graduated nurses thought to quit their work was due, inter alia, to the fact that they felt incompetent and had difficulty feeling free because they thought about work all the time.Conclusion: newly graduated nurses experienced the first professional years as mentally demanding and exhaustive due to the lack of clinical experience and experiences of bullying. A good supervisor fostered the development of knowledge and contributed to a better experience. Increased understanding of the experience of newly graduated nurses is beneficial for both experienced nurses and for the occupations so that they can improve the working environment of newly graduated nurses.

Full textOne of nine women in Swedenrun the risk of getting breast cancer before 75 years of age. The diagnosis ofbreast cancer can be perceived as a stressful life incident which may lead to asudden change in life. The nurse's task is to support and be there for the patient from diagnosis. Aim:To describe women with breast cancer experience of meeting with the nurse fromdiagnosis to treatment. Method: Aliterature review based on 11 qualitative items. Results: Four themes were formed which was the importance ofcompetence, the importance of empathy and sympathy, the importance of person-centeredcare and the importance of accessibility. The theme named importance of person-centeredcare formed three subthemes which was need for information, personalrelationship and support and hope. Conclusion:Since the meeting with the nurse is experienced individually, it’s veryimportant that the nurse approach to a patient-centered meeting with eachwoman. Further research should be conducted with the purpose to helping nursesto achieve a good meeting with patients.

Full textBackground: The profession of nursing has its own dicipline and there is a high level of trust in society for the qualified nurse's skills. The vocational role is presented as complex and multidimensional. The transition from student to newly graduated nurse is described as a central event where the first period in the profession is of great importance for the nurse's development. Aim: The aim was to highlight the experience of beeing a newly graduated nurse. Method: The design was a general literature review. The literature search was conducted in the databases CINAHL Complete, PubMed and PsycINFO. Eleven scientific articles were identified, quality-reviewed and analyzed. Results: The result illustrated the experience of being a newly graduated nurse. The first period reflected feelings of chaos, overwhelming and responsibility. The newly graduated nurse experienced fear in making mistakes, saying the wrong thing or to appear unskilled. Tutoring and support were considered as an important incentive in the transition, as well as being accepted by colleagues and recognized for their knowledge. Professional pride and self-confidence were developed with time and experience. Discussion: The result is discussed based on Patricia Benner's theory, from novice to expert and previous research. The discussion illustrates how newly graduated nurses from an international perspective, experienced a gap between education and vocational role. Furthermore, insecurity in relation to patient safety and caring, and finally how the introduction and preceptorship initially was of great importance for the nurses.

Full textA coordinated care plan should be established when a patient requires continued care after discharge from a ward. Involved parties should during the discharge planning conference agree on which interventions are to be done and agree about who are responsible for them. Length of stay in hospital tends nowadays to be shortened and the importance of an effective discharge planning conference is increasingly important for the patient's continued care. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to alert the nurse's experience of the discharge planning conference. Method: This study was conducted as an empirical study based on semi-structured interviews with registered nurses at a somatic ward. The data sets were analyzed with content analysis according to Burnard (1991). Results: The in-formants felt that the preparation time for the discharge planning conference was short and that the preparation was facilitated when the nurse had care responsibili-ties for the patient. The results showed that the co-operation with the municipality generally felt to work well but that nurses sometimes felt contested. The nurses felt that they were not allowed to give advice and sometimes perceived efforts to be predetermined. Conclusion: The conclusion of this result is that even if the care planning in many aspects works well, there are improvements to be made so the discharge planning conference will become an optimal meeting. Achieving an optimal meeting could provide major benefits for both patient and the involved professionals.

Full textBackground: Many countries are facing a changing demographic where the number of elderly people will increase. Parallel to this development there will be a rising demand for home-based care where more elderly people want to be cared for in their own home. Home-based care is often described as the best kind of caring for many elderly people. Earlier research has shown that nurses have both negative and positive experiences when it comes to home-based care. Aim: The aim of this study is to describe the nurses’ experiences of home-based care. Methods: Interviews were performed with eight registered nurses who had experience of caring for people at their homes. The interviews were analyzed with qualitative content analysis inspered by Greneheim and Lundman (2004). Results: The result showed that the nurses who participated in the study stated that they strive to do their utmost for the patients although they sometimes can be prevented from doing that. Tre categories with ten sub-categories were generated from the interviews. The categories describe nurses’ experiences of caring for patients of their homes: Nursing at home, To be professional and Teamwork. Discussions: Based on the study the nursing context and the nurses’ approach are described as important factors in the meeting with the patient. Nursing context and the nurses’ approach are important because they invite to participation and support the patients’ autonomy. This results in that the space is given great importance where the nurse experiences a double role: As a professional and as a guest in the patients’ own home. This results in that the nurse experiences the feeling of freedom and the feeling of inadequacy.

Bakgrund: Sjuksköterskor är utsatta för stora fysiska och psykiska påfrestningar i sitt dagliga arbete. Det ställs höga krav på kunnande och skicklighet och förutsättningarna för att utföra jobbet, som inte alltid är optimalt. Enligt socialstyrelsen har de senaste årens neddragningar och omorganisationer inom hälso- och sjukvården bidragit till att antalet långtidssjukskrivningar relaterad till stress och utbrändhet har ökat. Sjuksköterskor upplever att det är många faktorer som försvårar utövandet av professionen och att svårigheter med att praktisera den vård man önskar kan ge en känsla av otillräcklighet.
Syftet med denna studie är att ta reda på om sjuksköterskor vid Akademiska sjukhuset i Uppsala upplever sig otillräcklig i sin yrkesroll och om antal år på arbetsplatsen påverkar upplevelsen. I syftet ingår att studera om känslor av otillräcklighet beror på yttre organisatoriska faktorer eller om upplevelserna kommer inifrån den enskilda individen.
Metod: Empirisk kvantitativ tvärsnittsstudie. En validerat enkät, QPS Nordic, användes för att samla in data. Statistikprogrammet SPSS 15.0 användes för dataanalys.
Resultat: Mer än 50 % av sjuksköterskorna som besvarade enkäten upplever känslor av otillräcklighet ibland. Känslor av otillräcklighet har visat sig kunna härledas både till yttre organisatoriska faktorer som kvantitativa arbetskrav och inre faktorer som den självskattade yrkesskickligheten. När de kvantitativa arbetskraven blir så höga att sjuksköterskan anser att hon inte hinner med sina patienter på ett tillfredställande sätt ökar känslorna av otillräcklighet. Det ger även ökad känsla av otillräcklighet hos sjuksköterskan när hon själv skattar sin yrkesskicklighet lågt. Slutligen har det i studien framkommit tendenser som visar att antalet år på arbetsplatsen inverkar på känslan av otillräcklighet.
Slutsats: Resultat visar att en stor andel av de tillfrågade sjuksköterskorna vid Akademiska sjukhuset upplever otillräcklighet ibland. Känslor av otillräcklighet kan i stor utsträckning kopplas till både yttre organisatoriska faktorer som kvantitativa arbetskrav och inre faktorer som självskattad yrkesskicklighet.
Abstract:
Background: The profession of nursing is an occupation with a lot of strain. The demands on competence and skills are high and the working conditions are not always optimal. According to the The National Board of Health and Welfare the latest decades with reorganizations and reduction of workforce has resulted in an increased number of nurses reporting long term sickness related to stress and burnout. Nurses experience that it is a number of factors that influence the working conditions and the possibility to give the care they want to. To not be able to give the patients the proper care can give the nurse a feeling of being inadequate.
Aim: The aim with this study is to investigate if nurses at the Akademiska hospital in the city of Uppsala experience feelings of inadequacy in their working profession, and if the number of years in the working place has any impact on the experience. The aim of the study even involves investigating if the experience of inadequacy depends on outer organizational factors or if the inadequacy can be related to the person's inner self.
Method: An empirical cross sectional study with a quantitative approach was conducted; collection of data was done by a well tested questionnaire called QPS Nordic. The Statistical Packages for the Social Sciences, SPSS, version 15.0 was used to analyze the collected data.
Results: More than 50 % of the respondents in the study reported feelings of being inadequate in their daily work. These feelings of inadequacy can be related to both outer organizational factors such as quantitative working demands and inner factors such as the nurses own opinion of her working skills. When the quantitative working demands get so high that the nurse feels that she can not keep up the good work towards her patients in a satisfying way, the feelings of inadequacy increases. The feelings of inadequacy even increases when the nurse estimates her own working skills to be low. Finally, the study shows that the number of years in the workplace has an impact on the feelings of inadequacy.
Conclusion: The result shows that a major part of the nurses in the study experience feelings of inadequacy sometimes. These feelings of inadequacy can be related to both outer organizational factors such as quantitative working demands and inner factors such as the nurses own opinion of her working skills.

Full textBackground: Nursing is about upholding patient health despite illness and not least when it comes to palliative care. For the nurse, palliative care intend to improve quality of life and prevent and relieve suffering, which in turn can lead to increased well-being and a feeling of health even though the patient is in the end of life. The nurse can use “the 6S” care model, which aims to make the patient involved in the palliative care, focusing on the patient’s perspective. Aim: The purpose of this study is to describe the nurse’s experience of palliative care in the end of life. Method: The selected method is a literature review with a content analysis of nine qualitative scientific articles. Results: The results show that the nurse feels a need to be present and to be there for the patient. For the nurse, palliative care generates emotions and thoughts, which can be both positive and negative. The nurse experiences a lack in knowledge and clinical experience, which is an obstacle in achieving good palliative care. Conclusion: The nurse felt that insufficient knowledge combined with few clinical experiences of palliative care made the nurse feel insufficient and unable to cope with arisen emotions.

Full textIn today's society the number of people needing care are increasing. Caring for people is the main role of the nurse and the newly examined nurses are expected to take a big responsibility. The purpose of this study was to elucidate newly graduated nurses' experiences of being new in the profession. The study was conducted as a systematic literature review with an inductive approach. The result is based on eight scientific papers presented in three categories: knowledge has importance, stressful period and the importance of support. The result showed that many newly qualified nurses are experiencing skills shortages due to insufficient training. The lack of knowledge resulted in the nurses finding it difficult to perform their duties and that care then will suffer. The beginning of the nurses' career is experienced as an emotional challenge and a stressful period. An important factor in the beginning of the profession is the support from the workplace. Nurses find this initial time difficult, but a good introduction and access to help can ease the transition to the nursing profession. More clinical training is desirable to prepare nursing students for the profession. Further research is needed in designing nursing education, and the preparation of new nurses.

Full textBackground: The nursing profession is demanding, both through physical and mental challenges.A major cause of mistake and misjudgements in healthcare is stress. Worst case scenario, these mistakes can lead to healthcare injuries. It has been found that newly graduated nurses have a purely organizational picture of care as both difficult and with both high workload and lack of care staff. The Swedish Association (2017) deem that in order to fulfill the core competence safe care it is required that the nurse has the skill to handle stress.The Aim: To describe the experience of stress in newly graduated nurses working at hospitals. Method: A literature review of ten qualitative articles was conducted. To analyse the material a qualitative content analysis by Ella Danielsson (2017) was performed.Results: The compilation of the material generated six codes and two themes.The three mostcommon stressors are high workload; insufficient knowledge and uncertainty about theprofessional role. The three most common experiences of stress is desire to leave the profession; anxiety and difficulty sleeping.Conclusion: Stress among newly graduated nurses is universal, but the experience of it and the stress factors differ. The fact that stress can affect the patient safety is a significant problem and efforts to minimize the stress among newly graduated nurses and thus strengthen patient safety isnecessary for a functioning healthcare system, both in Sweden and worldwide. Therefore, it is required that the education prepares the nurses for the many demands and challenges that comes with the license and that they provides some kind of supervision from their workplace

Full textAim: The aim was to examine how nurses perceive Transcultural nursing. Furthermore, the authors wanted to highlight the quality of the selected articles sampling method and study group. Method: The study have a descriptive design that included 10 qualitative articles, searches were made in the databases; Medline and PubMed, and furthermore manual article search. Results: The results showed that nurses felt that patients from another culture could give rise to complicate the nursing process. Nurses experienced that patients' expressions of pain could vary depending on their culture. Nurses perceived that their Transcultural knowledge was inadequate and desired therefore a greater range of knowledge in the field of Transcultural nursing. Relatives described to often visit the patients in larger groups which the nurse experienced as problematic. Nurses felt that patient communication was complicated when language barriers existed. Irritation in nurse- patient relations occurred when language barriers existed. The results are presented in four headings: "experiences of"; difficulties in nursing, knowledge and education, patients' relatives and patient communication. Conclusion: The authors expect to care for patients from a different cultural background, but feels that their nursing education does not provide sufficient tools in Transcultural nursing. This literature study hopes to lead to reflection and discussion between nurses and other medical professionals in the field of Transcultural nursing. The authors are calling for a broader and deeper range of knowledge for nursing students and professional practicing nurses in the field of transcultural nursing.

Full textTransitionen från student mot kompetent sjuksköterska är en kritisk period. Det är viktigt att nyutexaminerade sjuksköterskor erhåller en fullgod transition med möjlighet att öva upp kunskap och tillgodogöra sig erfarenhet. Efter en kort introduktionsperiod förväntar arbetsgivaren att nyutexaminerade sjuksköterskor ska ha förmåga att fungera i professionen. Syftet med litteraturstudien var att belysa nyutexaminerade sjuksköterskors upplevelser under transitionen från student mot kompetent sjuksköterska. Resultatet visar att transitionen upplevs som en uttröttande lärandeprocess, men trots svårigheter finns en känsla av prestation och personlig fullbordan över att vara sjuksköterska. Nyutexaminerade sjuksköterskor upplever ansvaret som påfrestande då ingen längre kontrollerar deras handlingar. De upplever bristfällig kompetens i kliniska färdigheter, organisatoriska procedurer, nya situationer och den nya rollen. Transitionen underlättas av en stödjande omgivning och är avgörande för hur nyutexaminerade möter nya ansvarsområden. Nyutexaminerade sjuksköterskor upplever besvikelse när det inte finns utrymme att utöva holistisk omvårdnad, som de förvärvat kunskap om under studietiden. För att anpassa sig till avdelningens kultur blir de ibland tvungna att släppa egna värderingar. Transitionen är en process och det tar tid att känna trygghet och säkerhet i yrkesrollen. Introduktion bör genomföras tillsammans med utbildade handledare och inte vara tidsbestämd. Fortsatt forskning behövs för att utforma fullgod transition.

Full textApproximately 800 000 people around the world, are calculated to commit suicide in 2014. In most cases, the underlying explanation is psychiatric disorders. Depression and substance-use are the most common causes of suicide-attempts or completed suicide, and in many cases the suicidal patient has been in contact with psychiatric services short before the suicide-attempt. Dealing with suicidal patients in daily work demands specialized knowledge in psychiatric care, and also good knowledge concerning prevention-work in inpatient wards. The purpose of this study was to explore the nurses’ experiences in prevention-work concerning suicidal patients in inpatient wards. The study was a qualitative interview-study with a phenomenological approach. Results show that it is often hard to decide what causes suicide, but that being confronted with suicidal patients creates concerns about one’s own competence, about what the nurse might have missed and what could have been done in a better way. It is of importance to ventilate and process the experience of a suicide attempt or completed suicide, to maintain a correct approach and view of one’s own work as a nurse.

Full textI Sverige dör 90,000 människor varje år, en stor del av människorna var i behov av sjukvård. Sjuksköterskor anses sakna utbildning inom sorgehantering efter förlust av en patient. Den svenska sjukvården förespråkar kontinuitet och en relation skapas med patienten. I samband med en patients död kan sjuksköterskan uppleva känslor som apati, skuldkänslor och sorg. Syftet var att belysa faktorer som påverkar sjuksköterskors upplevelser av sorgebearbetning efter en patients död. Litteraturstudien genomfördes som en allmän litteraturstudie med induktiv ansats. Sjuksköterskornas sorgearbete påverkades av om dödsfallet var plötsligt eller väntat. Relationen mellan sjuksköterskan och patienten kunde gynna kvalitén på vården men gjorde även sorgeprocessen svårare. Sjuksköterskorna föredrog informellt stöd vid hantering av sorgen, och debriefing borde förespråkas. Sorg är en mänsklig reaktion vid förlust av en relation och det är av vikt att sjuksköterskan tillåter sig själv att sörja när en patient dör. Slutligen noterades en brist i utbildning kring sorgebearbetning i samband med patientens bortgång vilket krävs för att sjuksköterskan ska bibehålla den egna hälsan och ge vård av god kvalité.

Full textBackground: Cancer is a diagnosis that is increasing in society, an increase seen to continue. Receiving a cancer message and undergoing treatment requires support from the health service. Through conversation, the opportunity is given for participation and a care where the patient is in the center. The nurse needs to have knowledge about communication to respond to the patient in the best way. It is important to ensure that the patient has received the information correctly. Aim: To illustrate the patient's experience of conversation with nurse during cancer diagnosis. Method: A qualitative analysis of narratives has been used for examination of six autobiographies, written by persons with experience of cancer diagnosis. Result: The result highlights the following categories: conversations that cherish, participation in the conversation, hopefulness in words, don’t want to hear and experience of fear. Conclusion: The conversation turns out to be important in the meeting between the patient and the nurse. How the nurse expresses her/himself and responds to the patient affects the experience of the conversation and what outcome the conversation gets.

Full textSyftet med denna litteraturstudie var att beskriva hur patienter upplever att fibromyalgi påverkar deras dagliga liv. Femton artiklar valdes ut efter sökningar i databaserna Medline (via PubMed), CINAHL, Science Direct, Academic Search Elite och Wiley InterScience. Urvalet av artiklarna genomfördes utifrån inklusionskriterierna. Artiklarna granskades och sammanställdes för att nå resultat. Resultatet visade att smärtan begränsar patienternas vardag genom att kroppen säger ifrån då smärtan blir för intensiv. Enklare vardagliga saker som de tidigare kunde genomföra har efter insjuknandet i fibromyalgi begränsats avsevärt. Förutom smärtan som påverkar deras fysiska aktivitet upplevs orkeslösheten och tröttheten som två stora orsaker till den fysiska nedsättningen. Patienterna upplevde även en försämrad psykisk förmåga samt instabilitet relaterad till sjukdomen. Dessa komponenter bidrar till att många patienter inte klarar av att arbeta på grund av både smärta och nedsatt kognitiv förmåga. De kände sig inte tillräckliga som mamma, hustru, vän och arbetskamrat vilket gav dem skam och skuldkänslor. De psykologiska besvären sätts ofta i ond cirkel som i många fall leder till depression. Patienternas livskvalitet påverkas också i hög grad. Författarna drar slutsatsen att ökad kunskap inom detta område hos sjukvårdspersonal, arbetsgivare och anhöriga kan underlätta situationen för patienter med fibromyalgi samt ge en ökad förståelse vilket kan skapa en trygghet hos patienten.

Full textSjuksköterskeyrket är ett mångdimensionellt och komplext yrke. Utbildningen och inskolningsperioden ska förbereda sjuksköterskan inför mötet med den nya rollen, dock upplever nyutexaminerade sjuksköterskor sig sällan förberedda inför den nya yrkesrollen. Svårigheter uppstår därmed under transitionen. Syftet med litteraturstudien var att belysa hur nyutexaminerade sjuksköterskor upplever yrkesrollen och transitionen från student till sjuksköterska de första sex månaderna i yrket. Litteraturstudien baserades på fjorton vetenskapliga artiklar som granskades och analyserades. Analysen resulterade i tre kategorier: Upplevelse av förberedelse inför den nya yrkesrollen, Upplevelse av första tiden i yrket och Upplevelse av faktorer som påverkar transitionen. Nyutexaminerade sjuksköterskor ansåg att de hade behövt mer erfarenhetsbaserad kunskap eftersom de upplevde sig ha otillräcklig kompetens direkt efter utbildningen. Ångest och stress var vanliga upplevelser under första tiden i yrket. För att främja transitionen ansågs det vara av yttersta vikt att få stöd under denna period. Mer forskning behövs om vilka faktorer som påverkar transitionen.

Full textSpråkbarriärer i möten med invandrare är ett växande problem inom hälso- och sjukvården. Syftet med litteratur- studien var att belysa betydelsen av språkbarriärer ur sjuksköterske- och patientperspektiv. I studien analyserades 15 vetenskapliga artiklar inom området. Resultatet visade att kommunikationssvårigheter på grund av språkbarriärer gav upphov till stress och oro hos sjuksköterskan. Språkbarriärer hindrade även utbyte av information och begränsade sjuksköterskans möjligheter att bygga upp en god relation till patienter med invandrarbakgrund. Patienter med utländsk bakgrund upplevde missuppfattningar och missnöje som grundades i minskad tillgänglighet till sjukvården och försämrad kvalitet i omvårdnaden. Kommunikationsproblem löstes med hjälp av tvåspråkiga kollegor, familjmedlemmar och professionella tolkar. Faktorer som påverkade sjuksköterskans beslut om när professionell tolk skulle anlitas var tidsbrist, ekonomiska aspekter och okunskap om tolkservice. För att sjuksköterskan ska kunna leva upp till de krav som finns behövs utbildning och tydligare riktlinjer för tolkanvändning. Då Sverige har blivit ett mångkulturellt samhälle behövs ytterliggare forskning och utveckling av metoder och material för att kvalitetssäkra den vård som ges till patienter med invandrarbakgrund

Full textTo nurses, the meeting with patients is a natural part of the profession this also means that the possibility to get indirect contact with infectious blood in patients is unavoidable. Infectious blood diseases seem to be on the increase in the society, and hence is why we, as authors, have chosen to investigate this area within the medical field. The aim of the study is to describe nurses’ experiences in the meetings with blood infected patients.We have, in this study, chosen to apply the descriptive phenomenological method presented by Amedeo Giorgi. Furthermore, we have chosen to interview three nurses having at least one year of clinical experience and during this time have cared for infected patients. The result reveal the following categories identified in the analysis: (1) Prejudice, (2) To meet/treat all patients equally, (3) Fear factors, (4) The importance of knowledge and routines, (5) More meetings lead to experience (6) avoidance.

Full textBackground: Ethics and morality is something that is constantly present in the nurse's daily work. Moral distress occurs when a person knows how he/she wishes to act, but is prevented from performing his or hers actions. Aim: Identify situations in which nurses experience moral distress. Method: Literature review by analysis of 10 scientific articles. Results: It is above all the life-sustaining care, staff shortages, working with staffs that have inadequate skills and patient autonomy that create moral distress of nurses. When nurses experience moral distress the care of the patient might become deficient, since avoidance behaviour may occur. The moral stress appears to increase with work experience since the clinical eye tends to evolve over time. Stress increases when the nurses not feel that they are heard from the doctor for the symptoms observed in the patient. It is important that there are forums where the nurse can discuss the moral dilemmas, so the ethical climate at the work should be perceived more positive and generate less moral distress.

Full textPatienter med cancer har behov av individuellt stöd i samband med den förändring av livssituationen som ett cancer besked innebär. Vårdpersonalen tillbringar en stor del av sin arbetstid tillsammans med patienten och bör därför vara medveten om vilka beteenden som patienten identifierar som ett bra bemötande. Studiens syfte var att beskriva cancerdiagnostiserade patienters upplevelse av vårdpersonalens bemötande och dess betydelse för patientens välbefinnande. Metoden för denna uppsats var en litteraturstudie. Litteratursökningen gjordes i databaserna CINAHL och Medline och resulterade i 10 vetenskapliga artiklar. Dessa har bearbetats och granskats för att identifiera vetenskaplighet samt relevans i förhållande till studiens syfte. Studiens resultat visade på fyra kategorier som beskriver patientens upplevelse av vårdpersonalens bemötande; Upplevelsen av att bli bemött som en unik individ, Upplevelsen av ett professionellt bemötande, Upplevelsen av en äkta relation med vårdpersonal samt Upplevelsen av bemötandets betydelse för välbefinnande. Resultatet visade att cancerpatientens upplevelser av vårdpersonalens bemötande som respektfullt, professionellt och genuint, hade betydelse för känslan av välbefinnande.

The condidtion affects a lot in the daily life which mostly depends up on symptoms and different demands that makes the every day life hard for the individual. The purpose was to describe the individuals’ experiences of living with heart failure. A literature review with a qualitative approach was usead as the method with 12 articles all together. The anatomy resulted in the main theme An unpredictable and failing bodywith the appurtenant themes A new situation of life, To experience security, Need to adapt to the new condition, and To find the meaning with life.The result shows that heart failure gives symptoms and feelings that narrow the individuals’ chances of being the same person as before the disease started. The condition claims adaption to the new situation to promote a good situation of life and to once again find the meaning of life and hope for the future. The nurse's task when caring these individuals is to educate them so readjusting will be able to befall, which will give the individual security in the new circumstances of life.
