Abstract:
Raksts ir veltīts būtiskas problēmas izzināšanai – pret korupciju vērsto darbību efektivitātes korelācijai ar notiesāto amatpersonu skaitu. Publikācijā atspoguļots pētījums, vai par korupciju notiesāto valsts amatpersonu skaita pieaugums / samazinājums liecina par efektīvāku cīņu pret korupciju. Pētījuma rezultāti liecina, ka nepastāv zinātniski pierādīta korelācija starp amatpersonu skaitu, kas notiesātas par korupciju, un valstī realizēto pret korupciju vērsto darbību efektivitāti. The article is devoted to the research of a significant problem – correlation between indicators of the number of condemned officials and efficiency of fight against corruption. In the article it is investigated whether increase/reduction of the number of condemned officials demonstrates a more effective fight against corruption. The results of the research demonstrate that there is no scientifically proven correlation between the indicator of the number of condemned officials and the efficiency of fight against corruption in the state.

AbstractWe have analyzed InSAR data from the ERS-1/ERS-2 tandem mission, to study the ice dynamics of Vatnajökull, Iceland, during jökulhlaups from the Skaftá cauldrons and the Grímsvötn geothermal area, which drained under the Tungnaárjökull and Skeiðarárjökull outlets, respectively. During the initial phase of a Grímsvötn jökulhlaup in March 1996, the velocity of Skeiðarárjökull increased up to three-fold (relative to observed velocities in December 1995) over an area up to 8 km wide around the subglacial flood path. Accumulation of water was observed at one location in the flood path. During a small jökulhlaup from the Skaftá cauldrons in October 1995 the velocity on Tungnaárjökull increased up to four-fold over a 9 km wide area. The velocity increase was observed 1.5 days before the floodwater was detected in the river Skaftá. A reduced glacier speed as the flood peaked in Skaftá indicates evolution of the subglacial drainage system from sheet to tunnel flow. The glacier acceleration and local uplift, observed in the early phase of both jökulhlaups, supports the concept that increased water inflow in a narrow tunnel system causes water pressure to rise and forces water into areas outside the channels, thus reducing the coupling of ice with the glacier bed.

Straipsnyje siekiama ištirti Lietuvos skautų leidybinę veiklą 1990–2013 metais istoriniame, socialiniame, kultūriniame bei ideologiniame skautybės kontekste. Atliekant tyrimą išaiškėjo skautų leidybos paskatos, reikšmė, intensyvumai, teminiai ir kokybiniai aspektai. Skautų spauda išliko viena iš pagrindinių skautų organizacijos plėtros, komunikacijos, informacijos ir patirties perdavimo priemonių. Lietuvos skautų spauda nėra skirta vien tik vidiniams organizacijos poreikiams tenkinti. Joje gausu ir įvairesnės tematikos veikalų plačiajai visuomenei. Skautų leidybos geografijos ir pagrindinių leidėjų tyrimas parodė, kad pagrindiniai leidybos centrai Lietuvoje buvo nulemti ekonominės ir kultūrinės miestų padėties. Priklausomai nuo istorinės padėties kito ir leidėjų tinklas, tačiau buvo aiškiai matomas lyderis: tarpukario Lietuvoje – Lietuvos skautų sąjunga, išeivijoje – Lietuvių skautų sąjunga, nepriklausomoje Lietuvoje po 1990 m. – Lietuvos skautija. Skautų spauda padeda organizacijai išlaikyti tęstinumą. Tai suvokiant palaikomas pastovus knygų ir periodinės spaudos leidybos intensyvumas.

Este artigo tem por objetivo elencar e sintetizar os principais eventos que ajudaram a consolidar um campo esportivo ligado à prática do skatismo na cidade de Campo Grande, capital do Estado do Mato Grosso do Sul. A construção da narrativa se deu por intermédio de entrevistas semi-estruturadas com doze pessoas envolvidas com a promoção da prática do skate na cidade, em especial lojistas e demais agentes que impulsionaram o skate em fases distintas de seu desenvolvimento no município. A conclusão ressalta a importância das lojas de skate, em especial da Hot Point, da Toys Skate Shop e da Rema Board Shop, as quais romperam com a barreira puramente comercial e investiram no cenário do skate campo-grandense de distintos modos, seja trazendo profissionais para demonstração, criando vídeos de skate, organizando campeonatos ou apoiando e patrocinando talentos locais. O artigo finaliza apontando o aparecimento e fortalecimento do skate feminino, com o grupo Pantaneiras Skate Girls e também destaca o surgimento do primeiro skatista profissional oriundo desta cidade, Pedro Iti.

Vertebral samples of little skate (Leucoraja erinacea) and winter skate (Leucoraja ocellata) were collected from Cape Hatteras, USA, to Canadian waters to estimate age, growth, and length at weight relationships for both species throughout this range. Maximum observed age was 12.5 and 20.5 years for little skate and winter skate, respectively. Significant length at weight relationships were found for both species. von Bertalanffy growth curves for the northwestern Atlantic were estimated for little skate (k = 0.19, L∞ = 56.1 cm, t0 = –1.17, p < 0.0001, n = 236) and winter skate (k = 0.07, L∞ = 122.1 cm, t0 = –2.07, p < 0.0001, n = 229). Additionally, latitudinal patterns in size and growth were observed in little skate, with individuals in northern regions growing slower and reaching a larger asymptotic size: von Bertalanffy growth estimates (mid-Atlantic, k = 0.22, L∞ = 53.26 cm, t0 = –1.04, p < 0.0001; southern New England – Georges Bank, k = 0.20, L∞ = 54.34 cm, t0 = –1.22, p < 0.0001; Gulf of Maine, k = 0.18, L∞ = 59.31 cm, t0 = –1.15, p < 0.0001). Although differences were observed for sex-specific growth curves for both species, only winter skate curves were significantly different.

Abstract McPhie, R. P., and Campana, S. E. 2009. Bomb dating and age determination of skates (family Rajidae) off the eastern coast of Canada. – ICES Journal of Marine Science, 66: 546–560. Recent declines in abundance of skates off the eastern coast of Canada have heightened the need for validated age and growth estimates in the region. In all, 502 winter (Leucoraja ocellata), little (Leucoraja erinacea), thorny (Amblyraja radiata), and smooth (Malacoraja senta) skate vertebral centra collected seasonally between 1999 and 2004 were sectioned using a mass processing method, then used to reconstruct growth in each species. Bomb radiocarbon (Δ14C) analysis was used to provide evidence of annual band-pair deposition in thorny skates. Estimates of L∞ from traditional von Bertalanffy growth models (VBGM) ranged from 60.6 cm (little skate) to 89.7 cm (thorny skate), and K estimates from 0.07 (thorny skate) to 0.19 (little skate). A modified two-parameter VBGM (Lmax = 94.1 cm) fitted to winter skate length-at-age data yielded a value of K of 0.15. Maximum observed ages ranged from 12 (little skate) to 19 years in both winter and thorny skates. The year-specific incorporation of Δ14C milled from thorny and winter skate vertebral sections closely resembled shark-derived reference chronology values from the Northwest Atlantic. Pre-bomb Δ14C in a thorny skate collected in 1988 and aged at 23 years appeared to validate age interpretations and suggested that thorny skate reach an absolute age of at least 28 years, the oldest validated age reported for any species of batoid.

På den svenska västkusten, ungefär 100 km norr om Göteborg, ligger Gullmarsfjorden - Sveriges enda riktiga tröskelfjord. Den skapar unika undervattensmiljöer och gör det möjligt att hitta spännande arter, som normalt sätt lever längre från kusten. Därför finns det mycket att utforska i Gullmarsfjorden, vilket lockar forskare från hela världen.  Kristineberg Center är beläget på Skaftö med direkt koppling till fjorden. Marincentret, som drivs av sju olika aktörer, erbjuder forsknings- och innovationsmiljöer för forskare, privata företag och statlig verksamhet.  Mitt projekt har inriktat sig på att analysera och utveckla vistelsen för de som besöker Kristineberg, där målet varit att se över boendet, dess placering, utformning och funktion. Med syfte att anpassa och förbättra upplevelsen av att besöka Kristineberg och samtidigt skapa möjligheter för en framtida utveckling av forskningen och centret som helhet.
On the Swedish west coast, approximately 100 km north of Göteborg, we find the Gullmarn fjord - Sweden’s only genuine threshold fjord. It creates a unique environment and makes it possible to find exciting marine life that normally isn’t found this close to land. Therefore, there’s a lot to explore in the Gullmarn fjord, which attracts scientists and researchers from all over the world.  Kristineberg Centre is located on Skaftö with direct connection to the fjord. The marine center, founded by seven actors, provides a research and innovation environment for scientists, private companies and the public sector.  This project aimed to improve the experience of visiting Kristineberg, where the focus was to develop the accommodation for the people visiting the research center. By analyzing the current situation, in terms of placement, design and function, new accommodations have been developed.

Abstract:
This thesis is about folding an ergonomic stall fork shaft in the middle. Reason for the folding of the shaft is partly a customer wish but the main reason is the high cost of shipping. The cost of shipping will be relatively low if the package size is kept below the size of which the shipping company recommends. If you want to transport a package that is larger than the recommend size, the shipping cost well rise drastically.In this case, the cost of a package with size of one meter is deemed to be a profitable shipping cost. The problem is that the total length of the entire stall fork is 1.5 meters, which increases the shipping cost by about 100 SEK per package. Therefore, the stall fork must be folded in the middle to become cheaper to ship.The task is to get on a good and inexpensive solution to a clutch mechanism that allows customers to very easily and simply connect the two shafts together. Because of the shaft being ergonomic, it reduces physical abrasion damages and therefore is the main selling argument. That’s why it is very important not to bring any changes to the ergonomic design or, in worst case, as little as possible.The result was a coupling out of a polymer material that divides the shaft approximately from the middle, has a low weight and is easy for the consumer to assemble the two parts of the shaft. The work was carried out by studies of different couplings to be able to come up with a number of different proposals for splitting of the shaft. Furthermore were different materials closely examined and manufacturing methods that the coupling can be manufactured by.The result was a prototype of coupling out of a polymeric material that divides the shaft approximately in the middle, has a low weight and is easy for the consumer to assemble the two shaft halves. The coupling consists of parts, male, female and a core in the middle to make the link robust.

Abstract:
Using two experiments, where children either rolled dice or solved a matrix task, we examined whether scouts are more honest than non-scouts. In the first experiment, participants completed a matrix task. The papers were then shredded, and participants self-reported the number they had correctly solved. After analysing the results, we found that 10.81 % of scouts and 13.04 % of non-scouts lied. This difference, between the honesty of scouts and non-scouts, was not statistically significant. There was no perceived effect from being scout on the individual's honesty, as well as from taking the scout promise, or years of experience in a scout organization on the scout's honesty. In the second experiment, participants rolled the dice privately. According to value rolled, participants could either take (1, 2, 3), or leave (4, 5, 6), a Kinder chocolate reward. Statistically, participants would be expected to take the reward 50 % of the time. This was the case for the scouts group, the results did not differ statistically from 50:50, but not for the non-scouts. However, the difference between scouts and non-scouts was not statistically significant, indicating that there is no significant difference in honesty between scouts and non-scouts. Thus, our hypothesis that scouts are more honest than non-scouts was not supported.

Abstract:
Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka sammanfogningsmöjligheterna mellan skaft och redskap med tånge som förutsättning. Följande frågor ställs i rapporten: Hur kan skaft och redskap sammanfogas med hjälp av tånge?  Hur kan man förstå de praktiska dilemman och möjligheter som uppstår när man ska sammanfoga ett skaft och en tånge? För att svara på frågorna tillverkade jag fyra skaft efter skriftliga instruktioner, och applicerade sedan de kunskaper jag förvärvat i tillverkandet av ytterligare åtta skaft. Jag dokumenterade observationer under arbetet, och sammanställde de steg som ingick i skaftningen. Processen analyserades efter Esko Mäkeläs perspektiv på kreativa processer i slöjden. Förutsatt att man väljer att forma skaftet efter att det limmats på tången, kan man säga att en skaftning består av sex steg: skissning, 2. förberedelse, 3. bearbetning, 4. limning, 5. utformning och 6. ytbehandling. Tången påverkar främst vilken metod som är lämplig eller enklast för att bearbeta skaftämnet och göra plats för tången, det vill säga steg 3. De tekniker som finns för att skafta ett redskap kan med få undantag delas in i två huvudgrupper, baserat på om steg 3 bearbetning- är grundat på sågning eller borrning. Under de olika stegen i skaftningen präglades arbetet och valen jag gjorde av olika kreativa och gestaltande överväganden och berodde helt på hur ett steg påverkade slutresultatet.

Texten är ett utdrag ur en historisk roman som följer huvudpersonen Ebba och hennes närmaste familj från födelsen senare delen av 1800-talet till hennes död på 1950-talet. Hon var på många sätt en föregångskvinna. Uppvuxen i en borgerlig malmöfamilj blev hon prästfru i Bohuslän, mor till fyra pojkar, tidigt änka och ensamstående mor. Då bildade hon tillsammans med en annan änka ett kollektiv i Lund.Romanen försöker spegla tidens händelser i världen och i Sverige, politiskt och kulturellt genom Ebba. Hon studerade, undervisade, spelade piano, diskuterade modern litteratur med sina bokcirkelvänner och fick som änka ständigt kämpa för familjens ekonomi.Bakgrund och inspiration till romanen är en brevsamling med Ebba och hennes söner som avsändare, men det är inte en dokumentär. Breven behandlar vissa perioder i livet De återges ibland som direkta citat. I övrigt är texten fiktion med verklighetsanknytning.

Hållbart skogsbruk kräver kunskap om skogens tillstånd i nutid samt tänkbara framtida åtgärder. Syftet med studien var att undersöka om det via digitala flygbilder var möjligt att skatta trädålder och SI på beståndsnivå, samt med vilken precision det kan utföras.Endast tall- och/ eller grandominerade bestånd, valdes i Vetlanda och Nybro kommun. Flygbilderna bearbetades av Foran Sverige AB med hjälp av ett program framtaget av Spacemetric AB.De fältinventerade beståndens data jämfördes med medianvärden från de skattade trädhöjderna, vilka matades in i en formel, konstruerad för att göra en kurvanpassning mot de nya höjdutvecklingskurvorna.Metoden för framtagning av höjdvärden via bildmatchning bör förfinas, t.ex. bör laserskanningen bidra med högre precision. Endast mindre delar av landet har mer än en skanningstidpunkt med laser, metoden kräver minst två höjdvärden i serie.Syftet med studien anses uppfyllt, dock hade studien tjänat på en bättre metod för att sålla bort felaktiga data innan analys. Generaliserbarheten är god på liknande bestånd, vidare studier krävs för att kunna påvisa en användarbarhet i olika typer av bestånd, där även olika skötselvarianter bör vägas in.

E, nesse sentido, me interessa investigar/analisar a criatividade e agências por trás dessas práticas e percepções ligadas à uma forma específica de viver/ estar na cidade, de uso e ao mesmo tempo de produção dela.Dentro do recorte de minha pesquisa, a prática do skate revela-se como uma forma de experienciar/vivenciar o espaço urbano, pensado aqui como ambiente, a partir de percepções e habilidades específicas, desenvolvidas na mediação desse objeto entre os sujeitos e o ambiente. A intenção é buscar um diálogo com diferentes campos da Antropologia: a antropologia urbana, a visual e o dos estudos sobre percepção.

Abstract : This paper aims to highlight certain specific forms of sociability characteristics of skateboard practitioners and their integration in the urban landscape. In that sense, interests me investigate / analyze the creativity and agencies behind these practices and perceptions linked to a specific lifestyle / living in the city, use and at the same time produce of it. In the focus of the research, the practice of skateboarding is revealed as a way to experience, to live the urban space - thought here as environment - from specific insights and skills developed in the mediation of the object between the subject and the environment. Theintention is to establish a dialogue with different fields of anthropology: urban anthropology, visual and studies on perception.

Abstract:
Mitt examensarbete är ett utvecklingsarbete och syftet med arbetet är att ta fram en temaplanering som handlar om Bjuvs lokalhistoria, med fokus Bjuvs gruvhistoria. Jag har nämligen upptäckt att eleverna i Bjuv inte har så stor kännedom om sin lokalhistoria. Anledningen till att jag fokuserar på Bjuvs gruvhistoria är för det är tack vare den Bjuv har utvecklats till den kommun den är idag. Jag har upptäckt att skolorna oftast glömmer bort att undervisa eleverna om deras lokalhistoria, utan undervisningen handlar om de stora kungarna som stred någonstans vid Lund och i Småland. Lokalhistorien finns runt eleverna och om skolan undervisar eleverna om lokalhistorien får de lättare en förståelse för hur det har varit och varför det är som det är idag. Min tanke är att genom lokalhistorien börja skapa en historiemedvetenhet hos eleverna. Få dem att förstå att det som har hänt förr har en mer eller mindre påverkan på oss och att det vi gör nu påverkar framtiden. Kopplar läraren då lokalhistorien med makrohistorien får de en djupare och bredare kunskap. De får alltså kunskaper om hur makro och mikrohistorien hör ihop och kan lättare förstå att de stora förändringarna i världen haft en påverkan på det lilla samhället som de bor i. Därför har jag gjort ett utvecklingsarbete där min analys är en temaplanering. Tanken med detta utvecklingsarbete är att jag skall kunna lämna över det till skolorna i Bjuv och det ska vara färdigt för att börja arbetas med. För att kunna göra detta utvecklingsarbete har jag intervjuat Olle Lundgren på gruvmuseet och Bo Wernberg på föreningen Gamla Bjuf, för att ta reda på vad de har att erbjuda en klass som kommer på besök. Jag har även varit på biblioteket i Bjuv för att låna böcker som handlar om Bjuvs historia. Genom dessa böcker har jag sedan sökt efter Bjuvs lokalhistoria som jag sedan har kontrat mot svenska och världens historia. Jag kommer när jag är färdig med arbetet lämna det till Bjuvs skolor och hoppas de får nytta av min planering. För jag hoppas på förändringar och att lärarna tar tag mer i historien speciellt den som är runt eleverna som är dem så nära. Historien är ett viktigt ämne, för den skapar goda medborgare och stärker elevernas identitet.

Abstract:
Berdut Technology is a novel magnetic levitation system suitable for high speed train applications. This technology combines magnets and electromagnets to obtain levitation and propulsion. A Berdut array of permanent magnets is used to provide the levitation via skates that are located on both sides of the vehicle. Both the rails and the skates are based on permanent magnets therefore no energy is required for levitation. A linear motor located along the center of the vehicle provides the propulsion. Both, skate and linear motor use the same concept and working principle. The paper is divided into two parts: the first part describes the skate levitation, while the second part describes the linear motor. Finite element method was chosen to model and simulate both the skate levitation and the linear motor. Energy dissipation resulting from hysteresis and eddy current losses in the skate was determined. Stiffness and damping characteristics for the levitation skates are presented and validated. The efficiency and thrust force for the linear motor model are also presented along with experiments performed to validate the simulations. Once, validated the models are used to design a Maglev suspension and a linear motor for high-speed train applications.
