Abstract:
Knowledge tracing models predict students’ mastery of specific knowledge points by analyzing their historical learning performance. However, existing methods struggle with handling a large number of skills, data sparsity, learning differences, and complex skill correlations. To address these issues, we propose a knowledge tracing method based on dual graph convolutional networks and positive/negative feature enhancement. We construct dual graph structures with students and skills as nodes, respectively. The dual graph convolutional networks independently process the student and skill graphs, effectively resolving data sparsity and skill correlation challenges. By integrating positive/negative feature enhancement and spectral embedding clustering optimization modules, the model efficiently combines student and skill features, overcoming variations in learning performance. Experimental results on public datasets demonstrate that our proposed method outperforms existing approaches, showcasing significant advantages in handling complex learning data. This method provides new directions for educational data mining and personalized learning through innovative graph learning models and feature enhancement techniques.

Abstract:
In today’s rapidly evolving job market, finding the right job and enhancing relevant skills are crucial for career growth. This paper presents an AI-powered Job Recommendation and Skill Enhancement System designed to help job seekers find the most suitable job opportunities based on their qualifications, experience, and preferences while simultaneously recommending skill enhancement resources to increase employability. The system leverages machine learning algorithms and natural language processing (NLP) to analyze user profiles, job descriptions, and market trends. A recommendation engine matches candidates with the most relevant job listings, considering factors such as job requirements, location, salary expectations, and career aspirations. Additionally, the system identifies skill gaps in the user’s profile and suggests personalized learning resources, including online courses, certifications, and training programs, to bridge those gaps. This AI-driven approach ensures that job seekers not only get matched with suitable roles but also continuously upskill to remain competitive in the job market. The proposed system aims to enhance job search efficiency, reduce unemployment rates, and support lifelong learning by integrating intelligent job matching with personalized career development.

Abstract:
English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners around the world have access to various tools for their writing skill enhancement. Those tools are commonly accessed with automated written corrective feedback to help them minimize the errors in writing due to its time efficiency. Additionally, the examples of the written corrective feedback used by EFL learners are commonly Grammarly, Hemingway app, and AI grammar checker. However, they fail to address the pointed needs of EFL learners in writing skill enhancement where English is not the native language, such as the practices in non-native developing countries. Due to writing skill enhancement as the aim of this study, the EFL learners' participation is crucial to its efficacy by conventional model, instead of the automated one. To answer this issue, this study presents a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) analysis of conventional written corrective feedback as learning as the appropriate model for EFL learners' writing skill enhancement as the reflective practices in light of the shortcomings for EFL learners' writing skill enhancement in Indonesia. This SLR study demonstrates that the conventional written corrective feedback has the potential to support the Indonesian EFL learners' writing skill enhancement by comparing current practices of the corrective feedback as learning for EFL learners in Indonesia with national practices and international ones dealing with non-native developing countries reported in the literature. The conventional written corrective feedback is expected to be an efficient sustainable model to enhance the EFL learners' writing skill because of its empowering organic form.

Full text
Abstract:
Sleep following motor skill practice has repeatedly been demonstrated to enhance motor skill learning off-line (continued overnight improvements in motor skill that are not associated with additional physical practice) for young people who are healthy. Mounting evidence suggests that older people who are healthy fail to demonstrate sleep-dependent off-line motor learning. However, little is known regarding the influence of sleep on motor skill enhancement following damage to the brain. Emerging evidence suggests that individuals with brain damage, particularly following stroke, do benefit from sleep to promote off-line motor skill learning. Because rehabilitation following stroke requires learning new, and re-learning old, motor skills, awareness that individuals with stroke benefit from a period of sleep following motor skill practice to enhance skill learning could affect physical therapist practice. The objective of this article is to present the evidence demonstrating sleep-dependent off-line motor learning in young people who are healthy and the variables that may influence this beneficial sleep-dependent skill enhancement. In young people who are healthy, these variables include the stages of memory formation, the type of memory, the type of instruction provided (implicit versus explicit learning), and the task utilized. The neural mechanisms thought to be associated with sleep-dependent off-line motor learning also are considered. Research examining whether older adults who are healthy show the same benefits of sleep as do younger adults is discussed. The data suggest that older adults who are healthy do not benefit from sleep to promote off-line skill enhancement. A possible explanation for the apparent lack of sleep-dependent off-line motor learning by older adults who are healthy is presented. Last, emerging evidence showing that individuals with chronic stroke demonstrate sleep-dependent off-line motor skill learning and some of the possible mechanisms for this effect are considered.

Abstract:
In today’s rapidly evolving educational landscape, students’ academic and holistic development relies heavily on the interplay of media literacy, technological adaptation, and the proactive cultivation of 21st-century skills by teachers. This study sought to examine the levels of media literacy, technological adaptation, and 21st-century skill practices among teachers and their relationship with student performance. Utilizing descriptive, comparative, and correlation research designs, the study involved 144 teachers and 144 pupils, with statistical tools including means, Mann-Whitney U-test, H-test, and Gamma test. The study reveals a diverse demographic among respondents, with a gender distribution favoring females and a majority of teachers having less than 20 years of service. Educational attainment is high, with many holding Bachelor's and Master's degrees. Teachers generally exhibit strong media literacy, with younger and less experienced educators showing higher proficiency. Technological adaptation is widespread, particularly among younger teachers, while the implementation of 21st-century skills is notably robust, especially in life and career skills. However, pupil academic performance ranges from satisfactory to passing, and no significant relationship was found between teachers’ media literacy, technological adaptation, or 21st-century skills and pupil performance. Significant relationships were found between media literacy and both technological adaptation and 21st-century skills, as well as between technological adaptation and 21st-century skills practices. These findings underscore the need for a comprehensive enhancement plan aimed at improving teachers’ media literacy, technological adaptation, and 21st-century skill practices to foster a more effective educational environment.

Abstract:
Abstract The Modern-Era Retrospective Analysis for Research and Applications (MERRA) is a state-of-the-art reanalysis that provides, in addition to atmospheric fields, global estimates of soil moisture, latent heat flux, snow, and runoff for 1979–present. This study introduces a supplemental and improved set of land surface hydrological fields (“MERRA-Land”) generated by rerunning a revised version of the land component of the MERRA system. Specifically, the MERRA-Land estimates benefit from corrections to the precipitation forcing with the Global Precipitation Climatology Project pentad product (version 2.1) and from revised parameter values in the rainfall interception model, changes that effectively correct for known limitations in the MERRA surface meteorological forcings. The skill (defined as the correlation coefficient of the anomaly time series) in land surface hydrological fields from MERRA and MERRA-Land is assessed here against observations and compared to the skill of the state-of-the-art ECMWF Re-Analysis-Interim (ERA-I). MERRA-Land and ERA-I root zone soil moisture skills (against in situ observations at 85 U.S. stations) are comparable and significantly greater than that of MERRA. Throughout the Northern Hemisphere, MERRA and MERRA-Land agree reasonably well with in situ snow depth measurements (from 583 stations) and with snow water equivalent from an independent analysis. Runoff skill (against naturalized stream flow observations from 18 U.S. basins) of MERRA and MERRA-Land is typically higher than that of ERA-I. With a few exceptions, the MERRA-Land data appear more accurate than the original MERRA estimates and are thus recommended for those interested in using MERRA output for land surface hydrological studies.

Abstract:
The convergence of genetics, neuroscience, and education has led to the emergence of DNA-based practices for skill enhancement, promising to revolutionize personalized learning and professional development. This paper investigates the current state of research and application in this field, aiming to evaluate the potential of genetic information to tailor educational and training programs to individual needs. Recent advancements in genomic research have identified specific genetic variants linked to cognitive abilities, learning capacity, and skill acquisition. These discoveries provide a scientific foundation for personalized education strategies, where genetic profiles can inform customized learning plans. This approach has the potential to optimize educational outcomes by aligning teaching methods with individual genetic predispositions, thereby enhancing memory retention, cognitive performance, and skill mastery. The paper explores several key areas: 1. Genetic Influences on Learning and Cognitive Abilities: An overview of significant genetic markers and their impact on learning processes. 2. Personalized Education Based on Genetic Profiles: Current methodologies and case studies demonstrating the application of genetic information in educational settings. 3. Neurogenetics and Skill Acquisition: The role of specific genes in neuroplasticity and the development of skills, with a focus on empirical studies and practical implementations. Methodologically, this research synthesizes findings from academic literature, surveys, and interviews with experts in genetics and education. A comparative analysis is conducted between traditional learning approaches and DNA-informed strategies to assess their effectiveness in various contexts. The findings indicate that DNA-based personalized learning can lead to significant improvements in educational and professional outcomes. Examples include tailored learning programs that cater to genetic predispositions, resulting in enhanced cognitive abilities and faster skill acquisition. However, the implementation of these practices is not without challenges. Ethical considerations, such as privacy concerns and the potential for genetic discrimination, must be addressed. Moreover, the current limitations of genetic research necessitate cautious and well-regulated application of these insights.

Abstract:
Mind-body practices enjoy immense public and scientific interest. Yoga and meditation are highly popular. Purportedly, they foster well-being by curtailing self-enhancement bias. However, this “ego-quieting” effect contradicts an apparent psychological universal, the self-centrality principle. According to this principle, practicing any skill renders that skill self-central, and self-centrality breeds self-enhancement bias. We examined those opposing predictions in the first tests of mind-body practices’ self-enhancement effects. In Experiment 1, we followed 93 yoga students over 15 weeks, assessing self-centrality and self-enhancement bias after yoga practice (yoga condition, n = 246) and without practice (control condition, n = 231). In Experiment 2, we followed 162 meditators over 4 weeks (meditation condition: n = 246; control condition: n = 245). Self-enhancement bias was higher in the yoga (Experiment 1) and meditation (Experiment 2) conditions, and those effects were mediated by greater self-centrality. Additionally, greater self-enhancement bias mediated mind-body practices’ well-being benefits. Evidently, neither yoga nor meditation fully quiet the ego; to the contrary, they boost self-enhancement.
