Abstract:
Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk tindakan-tindakan yang dapat dilakukan untuk mencegah kejahatan pembobolan kartu ATM melalui skimming dan untuk menganalisis pertanggungjawaban pidana pelaku kejahatan pembobolan kartu ATM melalui skimming. Penelitian ini menggunakan beberapa pendekatan yakni pendekatan perundang-undangan (statute approach), pendekatan kasus (case approach), dan pendekatan konseptual (conceptual approach) dengan bahan hukum primer dan sekunder dengan teknis analisis preskriptif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian bahwa 1) tindakan-tindakan yang dapat dilakukan untuk mencegah kejahatan pembobolan kartu ATM melalui skimming yaitu membangun pencegahan/pertahanan anti malware di seluruh server bank, keamanan jaringan, melindungi jaringan dari serangan, memonitor dan tes kontrol, membuat aplikasi unit untuk melaporkan setiap kejadian cybercrime khususnya mengenai skimming dan Meningkatkan kerja sama antar negara dalam upaya penanganan cybercrime khususnya mengenai skimming. 2) Pertanggungjawaban pidana atas pembobolan kartu ATM melalui skimming didasarkan pada terpenuhinya unsur-unsur delik dan ancaman pidana terhadap pelaku tindak pidana skimming dapat dikenakan Pasal 30, Pasal 46, Pasal 32, Pasal 48 UU ITE mengingat adanya asas lex specialis derogate legi generali. Namun dalam penerapannya belum dapat diterapkan sendiri untuk menindak pelaku skimming, sehingga harus diterapkan bersamaan dengan hukum pidana konvensional yaitu Pasal 362 KUHP, Pasal 363 ayat (1) ke-4 jo. Pasal 263 jo. Pasal 55 ayat (1) ke-1 KUHP (penyertaan). Selain itu, tindak pidana skimming tidak mengatur tentang batas minimal sanksi pidana.

Abstract:
A 1/12 scale tank was constructed to physically simulate the metallurgical skimming process in order to gain a better insight of the skimming of fluid slag from copper anode furnaces. 1-decanol and water were used to represent the slag and the underlying liquid metal respectively. It was observed that slag skimming was comprised of two steps, a transportation step to carry slag to the skimming lip, and a removal step to move the slag across the lip. The efficiency of the transportation by bath surface circulation was strongly affected by the method of creation of the surface movement. Submerged gas injection failed to carry slag to the lip effectively because of the uncontrollable circulation pattern generated on the bath surface. On the other hand, three impinging gas jets in glancing contact with the bath surface were able to carry slag to the lip effectively. The Re of the jets (I.D. 0.01m) inclined 50° to the horizontal was 6100. The jet configuration was two of the jets were placed close and parallel to the rear wall of the model and faced each other. The third jet was parallel to the model short axis and was directed at the skimming mouth. With the same amount of time, 70% of the slag originally charged to the tank was skimmed with the assistance from the impinging gas jets in comparison to 20% when no jet was used. Detailed analysis of the skimming process revealed that the underlying liquid bath level continuously decreased as the slag was skimmed and resulted in continuous reduction of the skimming rate. In order to compensate the reduction of skimming rate due to bath level reduction, a control strategy was proposed for rotating the furnace continuously to maximize the skimming effectively.

Abstract:
The purpose of this thesis is to study the oil skimming market and evaluate what drives company competitiveness and market attractiveness. Throughout the thesis, the total oil skimming market has been divided into an industrial market and an offshore market as these applications have entirely different requirements. However, the skimming market in general is underdeveloped and the long lifetime of the equipment has a negative impact on the market development speed. It is therefore characterised by a fragmented body of competitors and diverging pricing. Instead of price being an order-winning aspect, recovery rate and ability to pick up a large variety of oils has been found to be important.   In this inductive, and interpretivistic case study, a model for market analysis of an underdeveloped market is developed and applied to Sandvik Process Systems’ oil skimming business. The study is based on an extensive interview program with oil skimming equipment manufacturers, and oil spill response companies. The model comprises of an external, and an internal analysis synthesised into a SWOT-matrix from which five strategic directions are extracted. These directions are described as well as their respective business impact on Sandvik Process Systems.   Sandvik Process Systems’ skimmer is a steel belt skimmer developed in the 1960’s. With a lifting height of up to three metres and a width of up to 400 mm, the Sandvik oil skimmer is capable of lifting 354 litres per hour in optimal conditions. Compared to its competitors, the skimmer is a low cost alternative priced at 66-75% below industry average.   However, the results of the analysis indicate a poor competitiveness of Sandvik Process Systems’ product. Due to an inferior technology, Sandvik Process Systems’ skimmer lacks the capacity needed to target the offshore market. Therefore, the product can only target the industrial market. Meanwhile, many competitors offer complete solution packages including as pumps, storage tanks, and a variety of specialised skimmers in order to increase their competitiveness.   Looking at the competitors it is clear that Sandvik Process Systems’ skimmer does have advantages. However, many of the advantages are based on organisational strengths which are difficult to leverage. Also, the organisation does not have any experience from the oil skimming market and due to the small size of the market, it is doubtful if Sandvik Process Systems are able to devote the necessary resources to overcome this hurdle. Due to a revenue target set at EUR 2.33 million, Sandvik Process System’s skimmer would require a 23.9% of the market value or 119% of the number of skimmers sold.   Despite this thesis reaching the conclusion that Sandvik Process Systems should not enter the oil skimming market; it also stipulates that Sandvik Process Systems does have the potential to successfully sell skimmers. However, reaching the goal of EUR 2.33 million is deemed unlikely.

Abstract:
Despite its prominence, especially in academic reading, skimming is much under researched with very few research papers devoted to it, of which only two are L2- related. Such research as there is suggests that skimming is most likely to be effective when the text is predictable, familiar and simple (in terms of content, structure, language or any combination of these). This study considers skimming within an L2 context (specifically, skimming for the IELTS test). In particular, it investigates the specific characteristics of skimming. In addition, it considers the relationship between skim reading texts with familiar and unfamiliar content. The pedagogy-focused enquiry consists of an analysis of the way 14 textbooks cover skimming and a further analysis of 92 questionnaire responses from IELTS teachers. The learner-focused enquiry analyses 16 verbal protocols, collected from participants who had read texts with familiar and unfamiliar content. The textbooks examined implied that skimming is extremely useful for IELTS candidates, though there was no unanimity about the speed of skimming or its operationalisation. Similarly, the teachers surveyed almost unanimously endorsed the value of skimming for test-takers but varied greatly in their methods of teaching and even in their understanding of the extent to which it can be taught. Analysis of the verbal protocols revealed a number of strategies that were used by skim readers, a comparison with Anderson's (1991) list of strategies for normal reading indicating the particular emphasis of skim readers on time-saving and gist-yielding strategies. Comparison of quantitative data showed no major differences in scores between skimming texts of familiar and unfamiliar content, although the participants' perception of difference, with the text with unfamiliar content being perceived as far more difficult, was acute. It was concluded that there is a continuum from normal reading to skimming: thus skimming is a variant of normal reading and not a separate process from it.

Low cost, commercial off-the-shelf Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers can be used to provide real-time track of ground launched subsonic, sea-skimming missile targets when integrated with existing telemetry equipment and commercial radio modems. GPS reference stations can be deployed that are capable of generating, broadcasting and monitoring Differential GPS corrections that effectively eliminate the deliberate position errors imposed by the Department of Defense. Commercial GPS receivers are effective and provide contiguous position data even during the boost phase of flight when G forces exceed the receiver manufacturer’s published specifications.

Abstract:
We consider propagation of high-energy earth-skimming taus produced in interactions of astrophysical tau neutrinos. For astrophysical tau neutrinos, we take generic power-law flux, E-2 and the cosmogenic flux initiated by the protons. We calculate tau energy loss in several approaches, such as dipole models and the phenomenological approach in which parametrization of the F-2 is used. We evaluate the tau neutrino charged-current cross section using the same approaches for consistency. We find that uncertainty in the neutrino cross section and in the tau energy loss partially compensate giving very small theoretical uncertainty in the emerging tau flux for distances ranging from 2 to 100 km and for the energy range between 10(6) and 10(11) GeV, focusing on energies above 10(8) GeV. When we consider uncertainties in the neutrino cross section, inelasticity in neutrino interactions and the tau energy loss, which are not correlated, i.e. they are not all calculated in the same approach, theoretical uncertainty ranges from about 30% and 60% at 10(8) GeV to about factors of 3.3 and 3.8 at 10(11) GeV for the E-2 flux and the cosmogenic flux, respectively, for the distance of 10 km rock. The spread in predictions significantly increases for much larger distances, e.g., similar to 1, 000 km. Most of the uncertainty comes from the treatment of photonuclear interactions of the tau in transit through large distances. We also consider Monte Carlo calculation of the tau propagation and we find that the result for the emerging tau flux is in agreement with the result obtained using analytic approach. Our results are relevant to several experiments that are looking for skimming astrophysical taus, such as the Pierre Auger Observatory, HAWC and Ashra. We evaluate the aperture for the Auger and discuss briefly application to the other two experiments.
