Full textThe title of this work: “Home care needs of the families, bringing up children with cancer.” The aim of this work is to determinate home care needs of the families, bringing up children with cancer. This is the question of this research: “What are the home care needs of the families, bringing up children with cancer?” Methodological character of the research. The work consists of four sections: theoretical substantiation of a theme, methods of the research, description and discussion of the results of this research, conclusions and recommendations. The type of this research is qualitative phenomenological. The methods of this research are: in-depth interview, observation and analysis of the documents. It was applied the triangulation of the methods. 9 respondents have been invited to take part in in-depth interviews. All of them were directly involved in home care of their children. The respondents have been divided into three groups according the length time when the child with cancer was carried at home by his/her family members. Nursing after amputations is of great importance, because the subsequent aftercare and life quality depends on the nursing quality. Full textPurpose: review nursing requirements for newborns with the critical heart diseases in post-operation period. Tasks 1.Describe group of newborns with the congenital heart diseases. 2.Consider operational peculiarities for newborns with critical heart diseases. 3.Identify nursing problems for newborns with the critical heart diseases in post-operation period. Assumption: nursing requirements for newborns with the critical heart diseases depend on the fetal maturity degree, congenital infections, associated diseases and operation nature. Study methodology. In course of the study retrospective analysis of 84 newborns with the critical heart diseases undergoing post-operation (heart surgery) treatment. Data was processed by means of programmes SPSS 8.0 for Windows. Conclusions 1.Most frequent obstruction heart diseases found among newborns are: coarctation of aorta (31%), interruption of aortic arch (4,8%), pulmonary artery stenosis or atresia (13,1%). Less often the following heart diseases are met: transposition of great arteries (23,8%.), hypoplastic left hear syndrome (13,1%). Very seldom: total abnormal pulmonary venous drainage (3,6%), tricuspid atresia (8,3%). Majority of newborns are mature (89,3%), without additional pathology (84,5%), nearly half of them have intrauterine infection (45,2%). Aim of the investigation: to define the hospital care needs and nursing features for patients who underwent surgery with the formation of intestinal stomas. Tasks of the investigation: 1. Modification of risk factors may reduce the number of clinical records and early deaths. Prevention measures need to be taken for individuals with already diagnosed CHD as well as those with risk factors for CHD. Thesis objective: Investigation of healthcare and nursing needs of patients after CHD. Summary The increasing number of elderly and old people in Lithuania motivates to analyse the consequences of this phenomenon and the system of social security and health care in the context of elderly people needs in more detail. The aim of this work is to analyse how psychosocial needs of elderly people are met in long-term treatment and nursing departments based on social and psychological aspects. Method of the research – quantitative descriptive. Methods of data collection – structural interview and questionnaire survey. Patients and employees of long-term treatment and nursing departments in Ukmerge hospital took part in the research. The results of the research showed that psychosocial needs of elderly people in long-term treatment and nursing departments are met or partially met. Both, the patients and the personnel pointed out that services and treatment should be constantly improved. The social worker’s role, his help and mediation in problem solving are especially important in this department. The results suggest that long-term treatment and nursing department are very important and useful for elderly people. It’s purposeful to enlarge the nursing department, better adjust the environment and expand spectrum of services for elderly people.

Full textSUMMARY EVALUATION OF BIOPSYCHOEMOTIONAL CONDITION OF PERSONS INTOXICATED WITH ALCOHOL AND ITS SURROGATES AND DETERMINATION OF NEED FOR NURSING Keywords: Intoxication with alcohol and its surrogates, needs for nursing, CIWA-Ar questionnaire, HAD scale, Barthel index. Aim of work – to evaluate biopsychoemotional condition of persons intoxicated with alcohol and its surrogates and to determine the need for nursing. Material and methods of research. 217 patients treated at hospital (161 men, 56 women) with intoxication of alcohol and / or its surrogates, were interviewed. Anonymous questionnaire was performed. Three questionnaires were used for evaluation of biopsychoemotional condition of patients and nursing needs: CIWA-Ar, HAD scale and Barthel index. Despite these questionnaires, subjects were additionally asked about their education, social, marital status, use of alcohol, they were asked to evaluate need for assistance in all vital activities in 10 point scale. Statistical data analysis was performed using program of statistical analysis SPSS (v. 8.00), “Excel 2002”. The following statistical factors were calculated: number of patients (N), standard deviation (SN), χ², data was considered statistically significant when p<0.05. Results. Total of 217 patients intoxicated with alcohol and its surrogates were interviewed: 161 men and 56 women. Most of them were from 30-39 years old group.
