Abstract:
The paper analyses writings of Slavenka Drakulic and certain number of other feminist writers from ex-Yugoslavia aiming to answer to the following questions: first, how much and in what way the discourses on ex-Yugoslavia Balkans, (post)socialism, nationalism and war have been produced by local feminists and/or imported from the West; second, have these discourses been overlapping with local feminist discourses about masculinity and femininity and how.

Abstract:
By embedding the "theory of sadness" phrase in the novel's title (Mileva Einstein, a theory of sadness), Slavenka Drakulić suggests that she sees her heroine's life as a paradigm of melancholy and depression. By diving into the psychology of a woman who has been portrayed during the two decades as wilingless and gloomy, always lacking the sense of self-fulfillment, the author is trying to reveal the key drivers which are responsible for Mileva's humiliating life circumstances-non-assertiveness, suppression, adjustment, feeling of inferiority, inability to tolerate separation and addiction, as well as a tendency to deny the facts. The protagonist illuminates her own feelings of inferiority due to her birth physical defects which pushed her into the science. She compensates her low self-esteem by school achievements and by nurturing the love relationship towards the symbiosis and removal of self-boundaries. Therefore, the love loss is a personal impoverishment and an identity issue. The novel is told by the omniscient narrator influenced by the influx of Mileva's stream of consciousness (still unreliable, since it is a testimony of "melancholy effect" and distortion of reality). The heroine faces the deepest truth about herself and at the same time turns away from it. Intertwined contradictions and ambivalences are revealing that the main cause of Mileva's tragedy is her pathological sadness. Using the psychoanalytical repertoire of object relations, we point out that, following the loss of the object, the heroine transferred her libido to herself and became self-obsessed in a destructive manner. By suggesting to the reader why Mileva Marić Einstein's response to the circumstances was depression (amidst all other psychological possibilities), Slavenka Drakulić's work is breaking the journalistic boundaries and emerges as a psychological novel.

Abstract:
On the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, a Croatian novelist Slavenka Dra-kulić simultaneously in several countries published a collection of essays titled A Guided Tour through the Museum of Communism. The collection consists of eight stories narrated by ani-mals: a mole, a mouse, a dog, a cat, a raven, a parrot, a pig and a bear. The animals talk about neuralgic issues of Communism in former Eastern European countries (Eastern Germany, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Rumania, Albania, Yugoslavia, Hungary and Bulgaria). The genre differentiation is based on determining postmodern variations of basic genre conventions in the process of creating a piece of literature. Fable variations are determined by analyzing the relationship between a fable and other genre forms, such as, an essay, a novella, a legend, a myth. Next to genre differentiation of a literary structure, one can also observe the differen-tiation of its role that has been conditioned by today’s cultural memory. In that manner, my-thologized persons, objects and features of Communism are analyzed as universal symbols of a message, as well as elements of a satiric play. This paper will determine in which ways the above mentioned variations enrich the existent genre forms.

Abstract:
Zajednički nazivnik svih analiziranih književnih priloga objavljenih u zadarskom listu Rivista Illustrata 1894., 1895. i 1897. godine sveslavenski je junak Kraljević Marko, mitološka spona slavenskoga jedinstva.

Stressful life events in the pathogenesis of Graves' disease. Eur J Endocrinol 1996;134:699–701. ISSN 0804–4643 A case-control study was conducted in order to assess possible relationships between life events and Graves' disease. The study included 100 newly diagnosed patients with Graves' disease and 100 controls matched with respect to sex, age (±2 years) and type of residence (rural, urban). Paykel's Interview for Recent Life Events (a semistructured research interview covering 61 life events) was administered to each subject. In comparison with controls, the patients claimed to have had significantly more life events in the 12 months preceding the diagnosis (p = 0.0001). The following eight life events were significantly more prevalent among patients than controls: change in time spent on work (much overtime work, second job, much less work than usual) (McNemar = 12.04; RR= 7.00;95%CI= 2.35–20.80;p= 0.0001), unemployment for at least 1 month (McNemar = 4.00; RR = 8.00; 95%CI = 1.04–61.39; p = 0.039), arguments with one's superior at work or a coworker (McNemar = 4.50; RR = 3.50; 95%CI = 1.10–11.08; p = 0.031), change in the work conditions (new company division, new chief, large reorganization) (McNemar = 4.26; RR = 4.00; 95%CI = 1.07–14.92; p = 0.035), increased arguments with spouse (McNemar = 6.75; RR = 11.00; 95%CI = 1.82–66.44; p = 0.006), increased arguments with fiancé/fiancée or a steady date (McNemar = 4.00; RR = 8.00; 95%CI = 1.04–61.39; p = 0.039), hospitalization of a family member for serious illness (McNemar = 3.76; RR = 3.25; 95%CI = 1.01–10.68; p = 0.049) and moderate financial difficulties (McNemar = 8.50; RR = 3.25; 95%CI = 1.47–7.16; p = 0.003). Abstract:
Prijevod sv. Ćirila i Metoda realizira i jedno i drugo.

Abstract:
The transition of the 19th into the 20th century in Serbian music history was a period of music criticism, journalism and essay writing. At that time, Serbian musicology had not yet been developed as an academic discipline. After WWI there were many more academic writings on this subject; therefore, the interwar period represents the beginning of Serbian music historiography. This paper analyses Serbian interwar music magazines as source material for the history of Serbian musicology. The following music magazines were published in Belgrade at the time: Muzicki glasnik (Music Herald, 1922), Muzika (Music, 1928-1929), Glasnik Muzickog drustva ?Stankovic? (Stankovic Music Society Herald, 1928-1934, 1938-1941; from January 1931. known as Muzicki glasnik /Music Herald/), Zvuk ( Sound, 1932-1936), Vesnik Juznoslovesnkog pevackog saveza (The South Slav Singing Union Courier, 1935-1936, 1938), Slavenska muzika ( Slavonic Music, 1939-1941), and Revija muzike (The Music Review, 1940). A great number of historical studies and writings on Serbian music were published in the interwar periodicals. A significant contribution was made above all to the study of Serbian musicians? biographies and bibliographies of the 19th century. Vladimir R. Djordjevic published several short biographies in Muzicki glasnik (1922) in an article called Ogled biografskog recnika srpskih muzicara (An Introduction to Serbian Musicians? Biographies). Writers on music obviously understood that the starting point in the study of Serbian music history had to be the composers? biographical data. Other magazines (such as Muzicki glasnik in 1928 and 1931, Zvuk, Vesnik Juznoslovenskog pevackog saveza, and Slavenska muzika) published a number of essays on distinguished Serbian and Yugoslav musicians of the 19th and 20th centuries, most of which deal with both composers? biographical data and analysis of their compositions. Their narrative style reflects the habits of 19th-century romanticism and positivism: in some of these writings the language also has an aesthetic function. Serbian interwar music magazines also published some archival documents contributing to the future research of Serbian music history. Interwar period in the then Yugoslavia was a time of rapid development and modernization in various fields of culture. There was a great demand for music writings of general interest. Therefore, Revija muzike (January - June 1940) was totally oriented towards the popularization of music and the arts (such as drama and film). This magazine also published some popular articles on music history. Serbian interwar music periodicals were least active in the field of musicological analysis. However, in 1934, Branko M. Dragutinovic published a detailed analytic study of Josip Slavenski?s composition Religiofonija (Religiophonics) in Zvuk. There were also some interdisciplinary history articles in Serbian interwar music magazines. Being well aware of the fact that music history comprises not only music itself, but also music writing, schools, institutions and music life, our music writers used ?indirect? sources, such as literature and art, as well as music. Serbian interwar music periodicals opened many fields of research, thus blazing a trail in postwar Serbian musicology.

Abstract:
Predlažemo imagološki i interkulturalni metodološki otvoren pristup koji daje apsolutni prioritet tekstovima Alberta Fortisa i Charlesa Nodiera ispitujući funkciju drugosti, studiju prikaza drugog, altera et aliusa.

Abstract:
This paper presents and gives analytical review of some of the posthumously discovered choir compositions by Josip Slavenski. An important role in their discovery, the following editorship, and also partial reconstructing of newly discovered, unfinished choirs, was played by professor Mirjana Živković, a composer and a theoretician who has studied music of Josip Slavenski from different angles, throughout many years. Out of close to 40 newly discovered choirs, there are 19 mixed a cappella choir compositions which were prepared for printing, which lead to publishing of Horsko stvaralaštvo; Mešoviti horovi of Josip Slavenski, edited by Mirjana Živković in May 2016. The aim of this paper is to show the importance of these posthumously discovered compositions, and to give the analytical review of some of them. Although simplified and less elaborated, these mixed choirs show an importаnt features of the author’s style, аnd for that reason deserve our attention, and the illuminаtion from the analytical, but also performing point of view.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Wij slaven van Suriname (We slaves of Suriname) by Anton de Kom (1898-1945) stands out as one of the classics of Surinamese historiography and one of the most debated books among contemporary scholars involved in Surinamese studies. In this article I argue that Wij slaven van Suriname marks a new stage in Surinamese history writing and a novel way of dealing with the Surinamese past. To determine the characteristics of the book and its contribution to Caribbean historiography I juxtapose Wij slaven van Suriname with two other groundbreaking works in Caribbean political thought: Capitalism and Slavery by Eric Williams (1911-81) and The Black Jacobins by C.L.R. James (1901-89). The three works display many similarities, but also important differences. In my opinion De Kom’s hitherto surprisingly weak Caribbean profile is not justified given that his work represents the formative phase of Surinamese decolonization. It therefore deserves a prominent place in twentieth-century Caribbean history writing.

Abstract:
Autorice analiziraju neka pitanja pravnog položaja žene u srednjovjekovnoj Korčuli, ukazujući na rješenja drugih dalmatinskih pravnih sustava. U radu su obrađena pitanja pravnog položaja žene u statusnom, obiteljskom, imovinskom, kaznenom i procesnom pravu. Težnja komunalnih vlasti ka sprečavanju prelaska imovine u ruke stranaca i sprečavanju diobe obiteljske imovine putem miraza temeljni su uzroci podređenog položaja žene u komunalnim pravnim sustavima.

Abstract:
In the studies on Slaveno-Serbian period of the history of Serbian literary language one discrepancy is examined. The latter refers to the key role of the aforementioned period for the integration of Serbian society to the values of rationalism and Enlightment and the imposed negative stereotypes of Slaveno Serbian written praxis as deprived of norm and codification respectively. As long as this hybrid type of literary language derives under the predominant influence of extra linguistic factors, it cannot be investigated neither from the perspective of contemporary views on unification and stability of literary norm, nor by implementing methods of historical dialectology and historical grammar. In the recent paper the regulating role of stylistic conventions of the period in question in using language elements of different origin is emphasized. Then, the necessity of examining discoursively determined selective position of the writers on language and literature development as well as on sociocultural processes in Serbian society are outlined.

Abstract:
From November 1939 to March 1941, the monthly magazine ?Slavenska muzika?, a journal of the Association of Friends of Slavic Music, was published in Belgrade. The magazine did not differ from other Serbian magazines of the interwar period in its sections. ?Slavic music? also published essays on music, music criticism, reviews of books and music editions, notes, news, obituaries, and in one case, polemics. However, differentia specifica of this review is the exclusive focus on the music of the Slavic nations. The study provides a review and analysis of the texts in this journal. It was noticed that in ?Slavic music? were crossed the Slavophile idea, which has a long tradition among Serbs, and Marxism, at that time strongly represented by one part of Belgrade musicians. The study also contains an integral bibliography of ?Slavic music?, which has not been published so far.

Abstract:
Abstract Béla Bartók's and Albert Lord's capital work on folk songs of the Serbs and Croats (Serbo-Croatian Folk Songs, Texts and Transcriptions of 75 Folk Songs from the Milman Parry Collection and a Morphology of Serbo-Croatian Folk Melodies, New York: Columbia University Press, 1951) has been known for more than six decades to Serbian experts. Yet, in Serbia Bartók's contribution have remained insufficiently studied and valued by the time being, specially his methodology of formal analysis and precious conclusions about the principles of traditional melopoetic shaping, realized on that basis. The author of this paper presents Bartók's notions on the formal structure of Serbo-Croatian folk songs, and then highlights delayed and extremely negative reaction on Bartók's work, made by the cultural public in postwar Belgrade. Namely, on account of this book of Bartók, Stanislav Vinaver and Josip Slavenski, renowned representatives of the then expert public opinion, engaged in a fierce debate with the Hungarian writer József Debreceni in the Književne novine (literary magazine) during the 1950's, concerning Bartók's political pretensions to a part of the Yugoslav territory, which are supposedly distinguishable precisely from some of the conclusions from the said study. Today it transpires that in the delicate political climate of the time the great authorities of Vinaver and Slavenski had a direct bearing on the negative reception of the said Bartók's ethnomusicological work, which considerably slowed down the potential development of Serbian ethnomusicology, primarily its methodological bases.

Dapače, najbolji pjesnik bidermajera, Nikolaus Lenau, u baladi "Die Drei" progovara alegorijski istodobno i o Slavenima i o cenzuri. U tome ga slijede Stanko Vraz i Ljudevit Vukotinović svojim antologijskim baladama.

These are mainly dedications to musical performers-soloists and ensembles. They reveal many biographical details from the author's life-from performances of his works to friendly and professional contacts. Abstract:
Focus on the internalization of Western images in the Balkans has special significance in researching Serbian art. The functioning of Balkanism as it overlapped and intersected with Orientalism is indicated in the text by an examination of the cases of Petar Konjovic, Miloje Milojevic and Josip Slavenski, the three significant composers working in Serbia during the first half of the twentieth century. Their modernistic projects present different metaphors of the Balkans. Nevertheless each of them is marked by desire to change the Balkan image into a 'positive' one and thus stands as a special voice for Serbian and regional placing in European competition for musical spaces.
