Abstract:
Slope failures are one of the common phenomena in the Geotechnical failures. Thus it is needed to arrest the failure through proper mechanism. Considering this as a scope the present study is oriented to address the analysis of sloppy site where the proposed building foundation to be constructed with different slopes as a natural construction site. The stability is checked and the anchors are used to improve the stability aspect of slope. The study found that the homogeneous soil slope is improved its safety under the usage of anchors.

Abstract:
In this paper, we look at the propagation of internal solitary waves overthree different types of slowly varying region, i.e. a slowly increasing slope, a smoothbump and a parabolic mound in a two-layer fluid flow. The appropriate mathematicalmodel for this problem is the variable-coefficient extended Korteweg-de Vries equation. The governing equation is then solved numerically using the method of lines. Ournumerical simulations show that the internal solitary waves deforms adiabatically onthe slowly increasing slope. At the same time, a trailing shelf is generated as theinternal solitary wave propagates over the slope, which would then decompose intosecondary solitary waves or a wavetrain. On the other hand, when internal solitarywaves propagate over a smooth bump or a parabolic mound, a trailing shelf of negativepolarity would be generated as the results of the interaction of the internal solitarywave with the decreasing slope of the bump or the parabolic mound. The secondarysolitary waves is observed to be climbing the negative trailing shelf.

Abstract:
Cultivation of field crops is a challenge and risky business in sloping areas. A study was conducted as a demonstration model for the sloppy lands of Fateh Jang, Pakistan. The objectives of this study were to monitor the runoff water and soil sediment loss under different vegetative covers and slope gradients in comparison with bare fallow on each slope gradient. Three artificial slope gradients i.e., 1%, 5% and 10% were established and three crops i.e., Wheat, Gram and Lentil were cultivated on each slope gradient. Soil and water losses were quantified against each slope gradient and every cover crop for the period of 4 years. Total soil sediment losses during this study were 51% in Lentil, 30% in Gram and 25% in Wheat were lesser compared with bare soil whereas, water losses from Lentil, Gram and Wheat were 69%, 75% and 73% lesser respectively while compared with bare plots. The highest soil and water losses were monitored at 10% slope gradient following 5% and then 1% slope gradients respectively.

Abstract:
Abstract: An increase in economic growth, as well as urbanization in the hilly areas, encourages the construction in the hilly region. Considering this fact the engineers should assure the safety of constructions in the slopy region. To understand the past attempts carried out on the constructions of the building on the slopy ground the systematic literature survey is done which includes the parameters like types of the building suitable for hilly regions, slope inclinations for safe superstructure in seismic events, types of safety measures recommended to assure the safety of superstructure and necessity of interaction analysis for the constructions in the hilly region. The survey so carried out in the paper gives a fair idea about the research gap and thus motivates researchers to carry out future research on the gap identified. Keywords: soil-structure interaction; slopy ground; bracing system; literature survey; equivalent static analysis; hilly region constructions.

Abstract:
The aim of the master thesis is design and check the timber construction of the sports hall in two variants. The first variant is a frame, which is formed by three steel columns. The roof structure is made from timber trusses, which is pin-supported beam above both fields. The second variant is a frame, which is formed by three steel-concrete columns. The roof structure is made from timber glulam beam of saddle shape, which is continuous over both fields. Spatial rigidity of the structure is ensured by steel bars. The second variant is calculated in detail by hand and the structure drawings are attached. Input static models and auxiliary static models were created in SCIA Engineer 18.1.

Abstract:
The main objective of this thesis is the verification of the buckling strength of the composite compression members which were made from high-strength materials. This thesis is divided into four main chapters which are interconnected. The first chapter summarizes the current state of the problem of the compression members. The basis of this part is the elementary theories and researches, the task of this text is attempted to understand and obtain normative procedures which are important for practical use. The second part deals with the theoretical analysis of composite column, mainly with the examination of the individual effects on the buckling strength. The result of the first and the second parts is analytical algebraic equations which determine the buckling strength of the member. The third part contains the numerical analysis, which leads to create a numerical model of the compression column. The numerical model is used for the verification of the theoretical analysis and for the investigation of the behaviour of the column loaded by axial force. The last part deals with the experimental verification of the previous analyses. There are tested various types of the composite columns, which were made of steel with a yield strength up to 455 MPa and of the concrete with a cube compression strength up to 102 MPa. Experimental results confirmed the high reliability of centrally loaded column and every tested columns failed by flexural buckling. The final step is evaluation and comparison of the results obtained from previous four parts. It was founded that design criteria for centrally loaded steel-concrete column are too conservative and design relationships doesn´t use the positive properties of high-strength materials for economic design.

The master's thesis deals with the steel structures in building industry. The aim of this paper is to propose and statically evaluate the load-bearing steel structure of railway station in Vsetín. After solving the construction load by the roof cladding and external cladding, it follows by an assessment of individual elements of construction, including an assessment of their joints. From a static perspective, the roof structure consists of two diagonal arches which are joined into each other in the top and two longitudinals frames. The entire structure is designed with an emphasis on freedom of internal layout independent of the load-bearing structure.

Full text
Abstract:
The sail coefficients for a schooner rig, as a function of wind angle and heel angle, are presented, based on an experimental program, for historic vessel research, at Mystic Seaport, using the 61'6" schooner Brilliant. The coefficients were determined by full-scale sailing tests and 9- scale model tow-tank tests. Sail coefficients CR and Cttare defined as the drive force and horizontal side force , due to the sails, rigging, and hull above the waterline, per unit of sail area, per unit of wind pressure. These coefficients can be used to study performance of historic schoonerrigged vessels, predict performance of new designs, and compare performance of schooners and sloops. Sail coefficients for sloops have long been available. A velocity prediction program for the schooner was also developed. The predicted and actual ship speeds agree, with standard deviation of0.028 in the ratio. Upwind sail coefficients for the schooner are found to be lower than for historic sloops, and display the expected droop with heel. The schooner velocity made good upwind is largest with the sail plan of four lowers plus fisherman staysail. The schooner and sloop both point higher as wind increases. The sloop outpoints the schooner at all wind speeds, by about 10°. On a beam reach or broad reach, schooner speed is largest with the sail plan of big jib, golliwobbler, and mainsail. This sail plan also produces the largest downwind velocity made good. The polars suggest that the schooner has the advantage over the sloop on a beam reach.
