Abstract:
This Engineering Doctorate concerns the enhancement and detection of slow-moving targets in SAR images. Moving targets are incorrectly located or not captured at all in SAR images. Slow-moving targets within the clutter-Doppler-band appear at incorrect locations within the SAR image. Detecting these slow targets would have broad applications in defence surveillance, traffic monitoring and perimeter protection. As an industrially motivated project, partnered with Selex ES, this work goes beyond the explanation and confirmation of theories and looks at the practicality of implementing techniques

This thesis investigates the mechanism of a slow moving landslide through a case study based on a full-scale field monitoring conducted in a slow moving natural slope. The slope is gentle and located within a southwest-trending valley which is about 500 meters long with an average slope angle of 17°. The slope is mainly consisted of a thin colluvium top layer and a thick completely decomposed andesite layer underneath. The slope was intersected by a natural drainage channel at its toe. Previous records indicate that the slope moved slowly during or after rainfall but there is still lack of su

Abstract:
The aim of this research is to investigate an appropriate model to control the stock of slow-moving items. Ordinary inventory models require probability distributions of demand over a time interval before the control parameter can be determined, hence it is necessary to evaluate the effects of different forms of demand distribution. In addition, Croston's model and the dynamic programming model for the periodic min-max system are also studied with their control parameters being compared with those of the ordinary inventory system.

The models have the ability to rank individual items in such a way that, under a constraint of an annual provisioning budget, only those that contribute the most to the objective function are selected for stocking.

Negli ultimi anni le aziende hanno però radicalmente cambiato il loro approccio alla gestione delle rimanenze: queste, vengono considerate un eccesso e i magazzini con elevate scorte vengono visti come un‟opportunità mancata e capitale sprecato.
