In this study, CO2 and SO2 captures from post-combustion flue gas from a pulverized coal-fired power plant were evaluated using deep eutectic solvents (DES) to replace existing mono-ethanol amine (MEA) and CanSolv technologies. The system design of the DES-based CO2 and SO2 capture was based on the National Energy Technology Laboratory’s (NETL) 550 MWe pulverized coal-fired power plant model using Illinois #06 coal. Abstract In this work, a gas containing CO2 and SO2 at the usual concentrations on the coal combustion flue gas reacted with calcium hydroxide to evaluate and quantify the influence of SO2 on the CO2 capture and vice versa. This influence was quantified with a continuous gas analyzer and by thermogravimetry (TG). Results show that the CO2 retained increases in general as its concentration does and decreases as the SO2 concentration increases. A similar behavior was found for the SO2 retention at different CO2 concentrations being more relevant the influence of the presence of SO2 on the CO2 ca

Silylated amines, also known as reversible ionic liquids (RevILs), have been designed and structurally modified by our group for potential use as solvents for CO₂ capture from flue gas. An ideal CO₂ capture ionic liquid should be able to selectively and reversibly capture CO₂ and have tolerance for other components in flue gas, including SO₂, NO₂, and O₂. In this project, we study the reactivity, selectivity, uptake capacity, and reversibility of RevILs in the presence of pure SO₂ and mixed gas streams tosimulate flue gas compositions. As the use of SOA became a mainstream in enterprise application development, there is a growing need for designing non-functional aspects of service integration at the architectural level, instead of creating only technology specific assets (configuration descriptors). This architectural design supports flexibility and early validation of requirements. This chapter presents a model-driven method supporting the automated deployment of service configurations. This deployment technique is supported by an extensible tool chain where (i) service models are captured by a service-oriented extension of UML enabling to capture non-functional requirements, and (ii) configuration descriptors for the target deployment platform are derived by automated model transformations within the VIATRA2 framework.

Abstract:
As incineration is widely used in the disposal of municipal solid waste (MSW), the relation of harmful gas HCl, SOx, NOx, CO from incineration should not be neglected. In order to study the characteristics of HCl emission and removal during MSW incineration, several kinds of typical MSW components are selected for experiments in a Φ 150mm fluidized bed test rig. The effect of temperature on Cl → HCl conversion rate is discussed; the influence of HCl concentration on emission of NO, SO2 during incineration is analyzed. Finally the effect of Ca-based sorbents on dechlorination is also discussed.

The efficiency of limestone utilization for in situ sulphur capture in fluidized bed combustors is low due to incomplete sulphation of CaO. Reutilization of the partially sulphated limestone sorbent for SO2 emission control is highly desirable both on economic and environmental grounds. Hydration of the FBC ash can reactivate the spent limestone so that the hydrated ash will take up SO2 effectively when reinjected into the combustors as SO2 sorbent. In this work hydration of ashes from a large fluidized bed combustor was studied with special focus on the hydration rate. Factors, which affect t

For over 20 years, it has been known that there is a sulfur capture maximum around 850°C for limestone sorbents in FBC systems, albeit that this maximum appears to depend both on the characteristics of the FBC unit and the sorbent itself. Numerous explanations have been given for the temperature maximum at higher temperatures, including reducing reaction of CaSO4 with CO, sintering of sorbent particles which results in lower porosity and surface area. Other explanations include equilibrium between SO2 and SO3 with higher temperatures reducing the availability of SO3 for reaction with CaO, bloc

The formation and capture of sulfur dioxide in a pulverized coal combustor is investigated. This paper represents part of a project to investigate simultaneously enhancing sulfur capture and particulate agglomeration in combustor effluents. Increasing atmospheric concentration of CO2 and concern over its effect on climate is a powerful driving force for the development of new advanced energy cycles incorporating CO2 capture. This paper investigates the feasibility of CO2 capture using the carbonation reaction of CaO “in situ” in a fluidised bed combustor, where natural gas or petroleum coke (or any other fuel with low ash content) is being burned. The sorbent can be partially regenerated for CO2 capture by combustion of part of the fuel with O2/CO2 in a separate FBC. The thermodynamic limits in the proposed cycles, in terms of CO
