Abstract:

ABSTRACT Rho family small GTPases are key regulators of the actin cytoskeleton in various cell types. The Rnd proteins, Rnd1, Rnd2, and Rnd3/RhoE, have been recently identified as new members of the Rho family of GTPases, and expression of Rnd1 or Rnd3 in fibroblasts causes the disassembly of actin stress fibers and the retraction of the cell body to produce extensively branching cellular processes. Here we have performed a yeast two-hybrid screening by using Rnd1 as bait and identified a novel protein that specifically binds to Rnd GTPases. We named this protein Socius. Socius directly binds to Rnd GTPases through its COOH-terminal region. When transfected into COS-7 cells, Socius is translocated to the cell periphery in response to Rnd1 and Rnd3 and colocalized with the GTPases. While expression of wild-type Socius in Swiss 3T3 fibroblasts has little effect on the actin cytoskeleton, the expression of a membrane-targeted form of Socius, containing a COOH-terminal farnesylation motif (Socius-CAAX), induces a dramatic loss of stress fibers. The inhibitory effect of Socius-CAAX on stress fiber formation is enhanced by truncation of its NH2 terminus. On the other hand, the expression of Socius-CAAX or its NH2 terminus-truncated form suppresses the Rnd-induced retraction of the cell body and the production of extensively branching cellular processes, although the disassembly of stress fibers is observed. We propose that Socius participates in the Rnd GTPase-induced signal transduction pathways, leading to reorganization of the actin cytoskeleton.

V knjigi Anti-Ojdip Gilles Deleuze in Felix Guattari razločujeta med dvema vrstama spomina: besednim ali aliansnim ter biofiliacijskim. V njuni koncepciji družbe primata nima menjava, temveč dolg: temeljno družbeno razmerje je torej razmerje med upnikom in dolžnikom. Nujni pogoj tega razmerja je spomin, ki zagotavlja, da dolg ni pozabljen. Vendar ta spomin ni samoumeven, ampak ga je bilo treba človeku šele narediti. To »predzgodovinsko delo človeka« Deleuze in Guattari interpretirata kot osrednji napor »primitivnega sociusa«, ki sestoji iz vseh krutih tehnik vpisovanja v telo, kar imenujeta »sistem krutosti«. Avtorja se opreta na Nietzschejevo Genealogijo morale in trdita, da se besedni spomin vzpostavi na podlagi »aktivne sposobnosti pozabe« in s »potlačitvijo biološkega spomina«. Če je sredstvo vzpostavitve besednega spomina sistem krutosti in njen agens aliansa oziroma primitivni socius sam, kaj točno je potlačitev in kaj je tisto, kar je potlačeno? Biofiliacijski spomin imenujeta tudi »intenzivni spomin filiacije«, »spomin učinkov« ter »biokozmični spomin«, vendar v knjigi njegovega pojmovanja ne razvijeta. Članek poskuša v kontekstu Anti-Ojdipa in prek branja Genealogije morale natančneje zastaviti problem spomina ter dlje razviti pojmovanje in vlogo biofiliacijskega spomina.

The principle “the partner of my partner is not my partner” in a consilium by Alexander TartagnusThe article focuses on one of the consilia by Alexander Tartagnus de Imola, a 15th-centry doctor of both laws, concerning partnership. The principle of a partnership is that participation in it is voluntary. In Roman law it was defined as a consensual contract, i.e. one based on an agreement between the parties consensus. What should we do, however, when a partner we trusted when the contract was concluded introduces another partner? The answer provided by Roman law was very clear: Socii mei socius meus socius non est the partner of my partner is not my partner. The consilium presented in the article is an interesting example of the application of the Roman principle of socius socii mei socius meus non est in 15th-century legal doctrine. It demonstrates the durability of the tradition of thinking about partnerships since ancient times.Der Grundsatz „Der Gesellschafter meines Gesellschafters ist nicht mein Gesellschafter“ in einem Consilium des Alexander TartagnusGegenstand dieses Artikels ist ein der Consilien des Alexander Tartagnus de Imola, Doktor für beide Rechte aus dem 15. Jahrhundert, das die Gesellschaft betrifft. Für eine Gesellschaft gilt, dass die Beteiligung an ihr freiwillig ist. Das römische Recht betrachtete sie als einen Konsensvertrag, also einen, der auf der Verständigung der Parteien consensus basiert. Was aber, wenn der Gesellschafter, dem wir bei dem Vertragsschluss vertraut hatten, einen neuen Gesellschafter dazu nehmen wird. Das römische Recht hatte hierauf eine deutliche Antwort: Socii mei socius meus socius non est Gesellschafter meines Gesellschafters ist nicht mein Gesellschafter. Das in diesem Artikel präsentierte consilium ist ein interessantes Beispiel für die Anwendung des römischen Grundsatzes socius socii mei socius meus non est in der Rechtslehre des 15. Jahrhunderts. Es zeigt die Beständigkeit der Tradition bei der Betrachtung der Gesellschaft seit der Antike.

Abstract:

This study is an attempt to evaluate and compare the performance of State-Owned Commercial Banks (SOCBs) and Private Commercial Banks (PCBs) of Bangladesh. CAMEL rating model has been applied to confess where a bank can be successful and where it has weaknesses. Data have been collected from four SOCBs and eight PCBs for the years 2014–2017. Among the selected SOCBs, it is found that Agrani Bank holds “Satisfactory” position where Sonali Bank holds “Fair” position through the year 2014–2017. On the other hand, Janata bank has improved its position from “Fair” to “Satisfactory” for the year 2016 and 2017. Moreover, Rupali Bank holds ‘Satisfactory’ position only for the year 2017 where this position was “Fair” for the year 2014–2016. On the other hand, it is found that all the selected PCBs hold “Satisfactory” position through the year 2014–2017. Though the composite rating for both types of banks (SOCBs and PCBs) is in “Satisfactory level”, Rank-1 is given to PCBs and Rank-2 is given to SOCBs. CAMEL ratio for “Asset quality” for both types of banks (SOCBs and PCBs) are showing “Dissatisfactory level”. “Earning quality” of SOCBs is showing at a “Marginal level”. Therefore, proper attention should be given to manage the “Asset quality” and SOCBs should increase the “Earning quality”.

Abstract:

El trabajo es una de las actividades humanas más relevantes de la vida, produce efectos sobre las personas y las organizaciones. Se ha incitado desde los organismos internacionales hacía los países a tomar resguardos respecto no sólo de la seguridad física sino también en lo que refiere a lo psicosocial en los/as trabajadores/as. En Chile, desde el año 2013, se aplica el Protocolo de Vigilancia de Riesgos Psicosociales en el Trabajo para las distintas organizaciones laborales. En este artículo se da cuenta de los riesgos psicosociales de socios/as trabajadores/as de seis cooperativas de trabajo, en un estudio mixto, se observa que en los resultados a nivel cuantitativo las organizaciones obtienen en 4 de las 5 dimensiones un riesgo bajo (exigencias psicológicas, trabajo activo, apoyo social en la empresa y compensaciones), mientras que en la dimensión de doble presencia obtienen un nivel de riesgo alto. Al vincular los resultados con el análisis cualitativo, se obtienen antecedentes que permiten comprender que las prácticas de gestión cooperativa estarían influyendo de manera compensativa respecto de otros riesgos psicosociales presentes.

Abstract:

Este trabajo presenta una reflexión sobre el singular estatuto jurídico de las personas socias trabajadoras en las cooperativas de trabajo asociado. La naturaleza societaria que la ley otorga al vínculo contractual, no impide reconocer la inexorable conexión que tales socios trabajadores guardan con el ámbito de las relaciones laborales. El marco competencial constitucional y la diversificada regulación autonómica no favorecen la configuración de un adecuado estatuto jurídico para ellos. Es necesario aprovechar las sinergias de impulso internacional y comunitario en favor de las cooperativas como alternativas que generan trabajo decente y contribuyen al desarrollo sostenible, con empleos estables, seguros e inclusivos. Los poderes públicos han de contribuir a tales objetivos diseñando políticas públicas que favorezcan buenas prácticas laborales en este contexto, ejerciendo vigilancia y control para su efectividad. Finalmente, la libertad sindical en este marco, representa un paso decisivo en el reconocimiento y ejercicio de los derechos laborales.

Abstract:

The intracellular suppressors of cytokine signaling (SOCS) family members, including CISH and SOCS1 to 7 in mammals, are important regulators of cytokine signaling pathways. So far, the orthologues of all the eight mammalian SOCS members have been identified in fish, with several of them having multiple copies. Whilst fish CISH, SOCS3, and SOCS5 paralogues are possibly the result of the fish-specific whole genome duplication event, gene duplication or lineage-specific genome duplication may also contribute to some paralogues, as with the three trout SOCS2s and three zebrafish SOCS5s. Fish SOCS genes are broadly expressed and also show species-specific expression patterns. They can be upregulated by cytokines, such as IFN-γ, TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, and IL-21, by immune stimulants such as LPS, poly I:C, and PMA, as well as by viral, bacterial, and parasitic infections in member- and species-dependent manners. Initial functional studies demonstrate conserved mechanisms of fish SOCS action via JAK/STAT pathways.

Savo veikaluose šie du autoriai teigia, kad geismo mašinos kuria materialią revoliucinę energiją, kuri nuolat konfrontuoja tiek su sociumo normomis, tiek su kapitalistine priespauda. Tačiau, pasak jų, tokią energiją sociumas mėgina represuoti, paversti revoliucinį geismą fašistiniu „tvirtos rankos“ geismu, o kapitalas fetišizuoja, suprekina ir pritaiko savo tikslams. GuattariKasparas Pocius SummaryThe article analyzes Deleuze and Guattari’s concepts of desire and desiring-machines, their origins and workings in the organized structure of socius and in the capitalist regime as well as the revolutionary strategies and milieus that these desiring-machines engender. Contemporary social critique often distorts the notion of desire while linking it exclusively with capital that forces people to consume identities and commodities. Meanwhile, in the conception of Deleuze and Guattari desire is a material revolutionary energy which constantly aims to confront the norms of both socius and capitalist repressions. Unfortunately, this energy is continually under the threat of being appropriated and inactivated by socius, and it also undergoes the risk of being fetishized and commodified by capital, which makes desire serve its aims of seeking profit and extracting surplus value. Desiring-machines attempt to break through to the other side of socius and capital, the former of which is decoded and deterritorialized, whereas the latter is too limited to deal with desire as an absolute limit of socius. Capital is unable to commodify potential revolutionary energy or to absorb it in another way. However, in the structure of socius active and creative desire may be reversed into reactionary fascist desire of hierarchy, exploitation, humiliation, slavery and death.The molar order of socius is distinguished by a clear structure and hierarchy where individuals have fixed identities. However, capital tries to demolish those structures and deterritorialize socius by following the desiring-machines. The discipline, laws and norms are substituted by the flexible axiomatic of capitalism, which (whenever possible) can adjust itself to the demands of desire or regenerate to the former repressive forms of command. Such milieu gives rise to a single monolithic molar class. Therefore, today the conflict lies not between the capitalist class and the working class but between the class and those who are outside the class – minor people, creating minor politics in molecular milieu.There is a paradox in the conception of minor politics by Deleuze and Guattari. Although this kind of politics originates in the space that is oppressed by socius and capital, however such space can become highly active, creative and radical. Desire as a material basis for creativity becomes a powerful revolutionary potential. Minor politics is based not on identification or representation of somebody’s interests, but on permanent creativity. This politics emerges within the milieu of mutual communication and intellect as well as uncommodified affectivity and sexuality and it embodies revolutionary desire in everyday practices of self-valorization.Keywords: desire, desiring-machines, socius, reaction, capital, commodification, revolution, minor politics.

Abstract:

The ground crickets, Allonemobius fasciatus and A. socius are sister species and form a mosaic hybrid zone in the eastern United States. In this study, we developed RAPD markers and constructed genetic linkage maps for the two species, as a first step toward mapping quantitative trait loci that control conspecific sperm precedence. The A. fasciatus map consists of 25 markers mapped to 8 linkage groups, spanning 400.1 contiguous centiMorgans (cM). The average distance between two framework markers is 23.5 cM. The A. socius map consists of 20 markers mapped to 6 linkage groups, spanning 400.5 contiguous cM. The average distance between two framework markers is 30.4 cM. A sex chromosome was identified in the A. socius map. These are the first reported genetic linkage maps for Orthoptera.Key words: Allonemobius, allozyme, cricket, hybrid zone, linkage maps, RAPD.

Abstract:

En octubre de 2020, la Asociación Nacional de Investigadores de Postgrado (ANIP) publicó un informe que sintetiza las condiciones laborales prioritarias para los investigadores y las investigadoras del país. En este artículo llevamos a cabo un análisis preliminar de la campaña de divulgación de este documento, que consistió en el envío de un boletín masivo a los socios y las socias, y las publicaciones en las redes oficiales de la organización (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram y YouTube). Los resultados sugirieron que la campaña tuvo éxito en términos del diseño y la implementación, aunque pudimos identificar ciertos puntos de mejora. En cualquier caso, los resultados nos obligaron a reflexionar sobre qué significa que una campaña de divulgación tenga éxito. Por esto, elaboramos una propuesta conceptual, anclada al constructivismo de orientación histórico-cultural, que nos sirvió para clarificar hasta qué punto la campaña fue exitosa y en qué sentido, a la vez, pudo haber fracasado. Finalmente, reflexionamos sobre cómo esta propuesta conceptual nos ayuda a complejizar y mejorar el análisis de las campañas de divulgación en el futuro.

AbstractNicholson and Watters have recently investigated rings with projective socles and they have shown, among other things, that a ring R has a projective socle if and only if each matrix ring Mn(R), n > 1, has a projective socle. We generalize this result by showing that if S is an excellent extension of R, then the socle of R is projective if and only if the socle of S is projective. Examples of excellent extensions include, as well as matrix rings Mn(R), skew group rings R * G where G is a finite group and the order of G is invertible in R.

Abstract:

Las alianzas estratégicas han sido herramientas utilizadas por las organizaciones durante años para garantizar su desarrollo empresarial. En las últimas décadas, las demandas más exigentes de la sociedad han propiciado la necesidad de acuerdos de cooperación destinados a la creación de valor no únicamente para los socios implicados, sino también para los diferentes actores de la comunidad. Con esta finalidad, en el entorno actual se lleva a cabo un mayor número de alianzas estratégica entre entidades lucrativas y sin ánimo de lucro. Éstas no solo propician un impacto positivo para los socios a través de una mejora de su imagen o reputación, sino que también son propulsoras del desarrollo social y económico de aquellas áreas en las que se establecen u operan. A través de este tipo de acuerdos de cooperación, las organizaciones son capaces de crear valor tanto económico como social, asegurando de esta manera su supervivencia y el beneficio de los diferentes agentes de la comunidad en la que se encuentran. Los comportamientos éticos y las políticas de responsabilidad social favorecen la obtención de ventajas competitivas; y estos son posibles a través de las alianzas entre entidades lucrativas y no lucrativas. A través del estudio de casos de alianzas entre empresas lucrativas y entidades no lucrativas como Grupo Vips-Fundacion Hazlo Posible y Danone Foods-Grameen Bank se analizan los motivos por los cuales se llevan a cabo este tipo de alianzas, así como sus implicaciones y beneficios, tanto para las empresas socias como para las comunidades en las que operan. En el trabajo se analizan estos dos casos y se realiza también un análisis comparativo entre los dos con el objeto de establecer unas pautas de comportamiento comunes en este tipo de alianzas.

Abstract:

Amongst the about a dozen halacarid species from a shore of Mauritius, the genus Halacarus was represented by a single species, Halacarus socius Bartsch, 1992. The species was once described on the basis of females collected on Moorea, Society Islands, Pacific Ocean, now a description of the male is added and that of the female supplemented. Halacarus socius seems to be wide-spread in the Indo-Pacific region. Halacarus tritoni Otto is a synonym. Halacarus socius is a member of the H. actenos group, a group characterized by the combination: posterior dorsal plate absent in both females and males, ocular plates small or lacking, with or without a cornea, apodemes of anterior and posterior epimeral plates long, female genitoanal plate with rather uniform cerotegumental cover and two pairs of perigenital setae adjacent to the genital opening, one pair (rarely two pairs) of perigenital setae anterior to the genitoanal plate, one or two bipectinate setae on tibia II, no tines on shaft of claws but paired claws often with tines on the accessory process. Species attributed to this group are diagnosed.

Nos mais diversos âmbitos da internet, a sociedade em geral fala sobre o socius, retrabalhando e ressignificando os diversos sentidos sociais, atualizando-os a novos interagentes sociais e a públicos ainda maiores. Em rede, essa construção de sentido sobre o socius se dá mediante um dispositivo digital próprio. Este artigo resgata algumas reflexões sobre o conceito de dispositivo, para, em um segundo momento, relacioná-lo com o contexto do ambiente digital, a partir das ideias de interface, protocolo e reconexão. Mediante uma reflexão teórico-metodológica, propõe-se, a partir dessa relação, o conceito de dispositivo conexial, que busca articular os âmbitos social, tecnológico e simbólico dos processos comunicacionais em rede.

Background and aim: It is unclear how total sock ply and thickness are related when more than one sock is worn. The objectives were to determine whether the thickness of one multi-ply amputee sock of ply P was the same as the thickness of a stack of reduced-ply socks of total ply P, and whether the thickness of N single socks stacked one on top of the other was equal to the sum (1 to N) of the single sock thicknesses. Technique: Using a custom instrument, compressive stresses were applied while sock thickness was measured. Discussion: The thickness of one multi-ply sock of ply P was typically less than the thickness of a stack of reduced-ply socks of total ply P. The thickness of N single socks stacked one on top of the other was approximately equal to the sum (1 to N) of the single sock thicknesses. Clinical relevance Our findings suggest three 1-ply socks to be 20% greater in thickness than one 3-ply sock, and one 3-ply + two 1-ply socks to be 30% greater in thickness than one 5-ply sock.

El estudio de las Características Emprendedoras Personales (CEP) es importante para determinar el porqué, del éxito de la gestión de hombres y mujeres gerentes, de las Cooperativas de Ahorro y Crédito (COAC) de la ciudad de Riobamba, Ecuador, y desarrollarlas obedece, a que las fortalecen, de manera constante, con la práctica y capacitación. Si dicho talento humano tiene la motivación interna y quiere adquirir los conocimientos y habilidades que necesite para lograr sus metas, va a ejecutar su plan de acción con compromiso, pasión y determinación (actúa, quiere y puede). Son los resultados los que establecen el estado del conocimiento de los procesos, que se efectúan en las diferentes áreas funcionales y sociales, de la gestión de las empresas cooperativas; estas deben ser gobernadas en función de los intereses sociales y económicos, que contribuyen con mayor fuerza, vigencia y presencia al buen vivir de sus dueños: los socios y socias. En virtud de estas consideraciones, la presente investigación describe un perfil general de esas capacidades, emprendedoras o empresariales, de los gerentes, perfil que se modifica, debido a la constante profesionalización de dicho talento humano, para estar al frente de este grupo de personas, pertenecientes a la Economía Social y Solidaria.

In an earlier article, we addressed the question: Should the MSMEs, that is, the micro, small and medium enterprises, be governed the corporate way? Drawing on (a) the contribution of the MSMEs to the economic and social development in their respective settings, (b) systemic nature of their ailments, (c) institutional and organisational contingency theory of corporate governance and (d) the theory of articulation (upward delegation) of decision-making, we suggested a model of articulation of the MSME governance ( Saxena & Jagota, 2015 ). In this article, we delve deeper into the issue of the MSME governance with reference to the emerging paradigm of dynamic governance that is known in Europe and other parts of the world as sociocracy. The word sociocracy is derived from the Latin and Greek words socius (companion) and kratein (to govern). It implies the rule by the ‘socios’, people who have a social relationship with each other—as opposed to the democracy rule by the ‘demos’, the general mass of people. As a system of governance, it relies on consent-based decision-making through active self-disclosure and feedback. It is stated to streamline decision-making, kindle creativity, innovation and entrepreneurial spirit and heighten productivity via individual engagement, commitment and empowerment. We posit that such a system of governance is particularly suitable for ethnic entrepreneurship, natural business clusters and the social and solidarity economy that many a country in Asia and Africa typify. In this article, we penetrate deeper into the functioning of representative clusters and communities and delineate principles and practices that could provide the edifice of the sociocratic architecture and dynamics of the MSME governance.
