Abstract:
Study purpose. Mastering the fundamentals of soccer is essential for skill development. Therefore, employing effective training techniques becomes crucial to enhance these fundamental soccer skills. This study aims to discern: (1) Variations in the impact of the 3 vs. 3 small-sided game method compared to the 6 vs. 6 small-sided game method on fundamental soccer skills; (2) Disparities in the impact of high and low VO2max levels on fundamental soccer skills; and (3) The repercussions of the interaction between the 3 vs. 3 small-sided game method and the 6 vs. 6 small-sided game method in conjunction with VO2max levels (high and low). Materials and Methods. A 2 x 2 factorial design was used for this experimental study methodology. 24 athletes, including 12 from the Sports Talent School (STS) West Sumatra football academy and 12 from the Indonesia Muda Soccer School, served as the research subjects. The Yo-Yo Intermittent Recovery Level 1 test is the tool used to measure VO2max. The "David Lee" competence test has been adopted as the yardstick for gauging fundamental soccer abilities. Two-way ANOVA was the method of data analysis employed, with a significance level of 0.05. Results. The study's findings are outlined as follows: (1) Indicated by a significance value of (p=0.009<0.05), there exists a disparity in the impact of training between the 3 vs. 3 small-sided game and the 6 vs. 6 small-sided game on fundamental soccer skills. With an average posttest difference of 1.69 seconds, the 3 vs. 3 small-sided game training approach proves superior to the 6 vs. 6 small-sided game method. (2) A significance value of (p=0.005<0.05) suggests a distinction in the effects of high and low VO2max levels on fundamental soccer skills. Displaying a posttest average difference of 6.23 seconds, higher VO2max levels are more advantageous than lower ones. (3) With a significance p value of 0.018<0.05, it is evident that an interaction exists among the 3 vs. 3 small-sided game, 6 vs. 6 small-sided game, and VO2max levels (high, low) concerning fundamental soccer skills. Cunclotion. based on outcomes The investigation found a strong relationship between the interaction of training techniques and VO2max on fundamental soccer playing abilities. The aim of this study was to determine the development of coordination and its impact on the technical fundamentals of football in the 10 – 12 years of age category in “Unidad Educativa Liceo Policial Chimborazo” by a guide of exercises in order to improve coordination and soccer technical fundamentals for six weeks. For this research 25 players were evaluated. A pre and post-test were applied for coordination on the stairs. The results acquired in the implementation of the excise guide coordination and technical foundations of football were significant at the time of implementation of the post test. The exercise used in this guide and applied training sessions were coordinating the ball with the food. It has been concluded that coordination affects within the basic foundation of soccer and improve their lifestyle.

Abstract:
Previous studies focused on the comparison of soccer teaching methodologies in sports initiation have not obtained conclusive results about the best methodology. Therefore, the main objective of this study was to compare the effect of global and analytical training-learning methodologies on some technical fundamental skills in children of 8-9 and 10-11 years old in soccer initiation. The technical skills evaluated by the test battery of “The Soccer Star Challenge” were running with the ball, dribbling, heading and shooting the ball, in which the kids were evaluated, previously and after 40 sessions of training with each respective methodology. The results yield that both methodologies improved all the technical skills at the end of the training program. Moreover, both methods were effective, since no significant difference was found between them in the progress of the technical skills between the methodologies assessed. For the design of a training-learning program in soccer initiation, we suggest the use of activities that involved both models to develop all the players’ technical skills.

El fútbol es un deporte practicado a nivel mundial, siendo parte fundamental su práctica en edades tempranas, uno de sus principales fundamentos es el tiro a portería, que es la acción técnica que involucra el lanzamiento del balón a la portería del equipo contrario, que puede ejecutarse con las extremidades inferiores, tronco y cabeza. Esta acción está relacionada directamente con las capacidades coordinativas; que son un elemento importante en el entrenamiento de fútbol formativo, siendo parte fundamental en esta investigación se estableció como objetivo, fundamentar la importancia del entrenamiento de las capacidades coordinativas especiales en el tiro a portería en futbolistas Sub-12, la metodología se basó en un estudio de revisión teórica, que utiliza métodos como el analítico – sintético para el procesamiento y análisis de la información, así como el inductivo-deductivo para ir de lo específico como es el tiro a la puerta, a lo general como es el desenvolvimiento coordinativo del deportista en la ejecución de la técnica del tiro a la puerta, el tipo de investigación es documental, a través de la cual se establece un análisis de la información obtenida de datos secundarios. Entre los hallazgos fundamentales se pudo determinar que los distintos autores determinan en sus estudios que los ejercicios de coordinación potencian la técnica de los niños en edades tempranas, por lo tanto, mejoran los aspectos como el control, la estabilidad y el tiro a portería.

 Importance of special coordination abilities in the shot at goal of U-12 soccer players
 ABSTRACT 
 Soccer is a worldwide sport, and its practice at early ages is an essential aspect. One of its fundamentals is goal shooting, which is a technical activity that involves kicking the ball into the opponent's goal. This can be done with the lower limbs, trunk, and head. This action is directly related to coordinative abilities, which are an important element in formative soccer training, and a vital part of this research. It was established as an objective to substantiate the significance of special coordination skills training in goal shooting by U-12 soccer players. The methodology was based on a theoretical review, which uses methods such as the analytical-synthetic for the processing and analysis of information, as well as the inductive-deductive method to go from the more specific (as in the goal shooting) to the more general (as in the sportsman's coordination development in the goal shooting technique). The type of research is documentary, through which an analysis of the secondary data information is established. Among the primary findings, there were some researchers who determined that coordination exercises enhance children's technique at early ages. Therefore, they improve areas such as control, stability, and goal shooting.

Abstract:
This study aimed to carry out a systematic review to analyze, describe and discuss the effect of physical fatigue on the performance of soccer players. For this systematic review, searches were performed in Pubmed, Web of Science and SPORTDiscus electronic database until October 3, 2020, following the guidelines of PRISMA. A total of 12 articles met the inclusion criteria: i) healthy soccer players from any age group, competitive level or sex; ii) exposure to physical fatigue; iii) pre and post-physical fatigue conditions; iv) players’ cognitive, technical, physical and tactical performances and v) no restrictions regarding the study design. The results section was organized in four main dimensions: cognitive, technical, physical and tactical. Studies on cognitive performance have shown divergent results, varying according to the cognitive task employed and the physical protocol used. Regarding technical performance, negative effects of physical fatigue were found on the technical fundamentals of the pass, dribble and kick. With regard to physical performance, studies have shown a reduction in sprint capacity and distances covered at high velocity. Finally, the only study that analyzed the tactical performance in the field showed an increase in the team’s collective tactical behavior, but did not include analysis of the players’ individual tactical actions. In summary, the results of the analyzed studies show that the effect of physical fatigue on cognitive performance is inconclusive and that technical and physical performance are negatively affected. Regarding tactical performance, there is a lack of information on the topic in the current literature.

Background and Study Aim. Biomechanics is a fundamental component of Kinesiology, offering critical insights into the mechanics of human movement. As the demand for comprehensive educational programs in Kinesiology grows, understanding the role and effectiveness of biomechanics within these programs becomes increasingly important. The aim of the study is to investigate and highlight the role and importance of biomechanics in the context of higher education, with an emphasis on the discipline of Kinesiology. Material and Methods. This study involved 71 students from the Department of Physical Education and Sport at Pitești University Center. It included 43 students specializing in Physical Education and Sport (PES) and 28 in Sports and Motor Performance (SMP). The research utilized the university's e-learning platform to monitor teaching and evaluation activities within the Kinesiology discipline. The evaluation of fundamental Kinesiology knowledge was assessed through various indicators. Google Forms-Questionnaire sought to gauge student opinions on the thematic content of Biomechanics as applied to Kinesiology and to evaluate the teaching staff. The nonparametric Kruskal-Wallis Test was employed to analyze differences in means across the groups. Results. The study revealed a diverse interest in sports across the Physical Education and Sport (PES) and Sports and Motor Performance (SMP) programs. Soccer, basketball, and handball were the most popular among students. Comparative analysis of academic performance showed no significant differences between the groups in various assessments (p>0.05). The overall student feedback on the "Fundamentals of Biomechanics of Physical Activities and Sports" course was predominantly positive. Over 50% of the students rated it as very good. Areas for improvement in teaching methods were also identified to enhance the academic experience. Conclusions. This study highlights the effective integration of biomechanics within the Kinesiology discipline at the higher education level. Findings suggest that well-structured educational programs can enhance students' understanding and application of biomechanics. This contributes positively to their academic and professional development in sports sciences. Continuous curriculum assessment and refinement are crucial for maintaining the relevance and effectiveness of such programs.

Por ende, se realizó un estudio de campo de tipo exploratorio con enfoque cuantitativo, cuyo objetivo es implementar una estrategia de enseñanza-aprendizaje de los fundamentos técnicos del fútbol en relación con el desarrollo de la velocidad de los jugadores de la preselección sub 15 de la Unidad Educativa Fiscal Veintitrés de Octubre. Se tomó una muestra  intencional de tipo poblacional de 64 estudiantes de la preselección de fútbol, 37 son masculinos y 27 femeninos, dentro de los métodos aplicados están los de nivel teórico analítico-sintético, histórico-lógico, inductivo-deductivo, por otro lado los de nivel empírico fue abordado desde la aplicación de tres test específicos para la velocidad general y en el fútbol que fueron aplicados antes y durante la ejecución de una propuesta de estrategias de enseñanza y aprendizaje del fútbol y después. Dicha ejecución permitió evidenciar que al aplicar estrategias de enseñanza y aprendizaje relacionados con los fundamentos técnicos del fútbol a través de la integración de una serie de ejercicios variados, ayudaron al desarrollo de la velocidad de manera significativa, lo cual indica que las estrategias fueron pertinentes para el estudio como se observa en los resultados.

AbstractThe fundamental tactical principles of the game of soccer represent a set of action rules that guide behaviours related to the management of game space. The aim of this study was to compare the performance of fundamental offensive and defensive tactical principles among youth soccer players from 12 to 17 years old. The sample consisted of 3689 tactical actions performed by 48 soccer players in three age categories: under 13 (U-13), under 15 (U-15), and under 17 (U-17). Tactical performance was measured using the System of Tactical Assessment in Soccer (FUT-SAT). The Kruskal Wallis, Mann-Whitney U, Friedman, Wilcoxon, and Cohen’s Kappa tests were used in the study analysis. The results showed that the principles of “offensive coverage” (p = 0.01) and “concentration” (p = 0.04) were performed more frequently by the U-17 players than the U-13 players. The tactical principles “width and length” (p < 0.05) and “defensive unit” (p < 0.05) were executed more frequently by younger soccer players. It can be concluded that the frequency with which fundamental tactical principles are performed varies between the gaming categories, which implies that there is valuation of defensive security and a progressive increase in “offensive coverage” caused by increased confidence and security in offensive actions.

Abstract:
The intension of the study was prediction of soccer playing ability from selected fundamental skill performances and anthropometric measurements of soccer players. To attain this aim, the investigator selected one hundred and sixty male inter-collegiate level Bangalore north university soccer players as subjects. Random group design was used for this investigation, as it is considered most suitable. The age of the selected subjects ranged from eighteen to twenty five years. In this study one criterion (soccer playing ability) and eight determinant variables are included. Pearson product moment correlation was utilized to verify the association between criterion (soccer playing ability) and determinant shooting ability, dribbling ability, passing ability, height, weight, leg length, calf girth and thigh girth variables respectively. The relationship between criterion and determinant variables as well as inter-correlations among determinant variables was calculated by using Pearson product-moment correlation formula. To test the hypothesis 0.05 level of confidence was fixed. The selected fundamental skill performance and anthropometric measurements such as shooting ability, calf girth, dribbling ability and weight were highly significantly correlated with soccer playing ability of Bangalore north university affiliated inter collegiate level soccer players.

The researcher aimed at constructing cognitive style (divergent - convergent) for first-class soccer clubs as well as identifying the relationship between these cognitive styles and some fundamental compound soccer skills. The problem of the research lies in the lack of scale for measuring cognitive style (divergent – convergent) for soccer players as well as the absence of previous studies that tackled this style of thinking directly and its relationship with fundamental soccer skills. The researchers used the descriptive method on (150) soccer players from all clubs distributed as follows; (12) pilot study subjects, (78) construction subjects, and (60) application subjects. Introducción: Las lesiones producidas por el futbol son generadas por factores intrínsecos, como edad, actitud física, además factores extrínsecos, como equipos de protección, movimientos biomecánicos y otros, entonces, la kinesiología deportiva desempeña un papel fundamental en la prevención, rehabilitación y retorno al deporte. Objetivo: Identificar las lesiones deportivas y factores que predisponen al riesgo en lesiones, según la percepción de futbolistas y fisioterapeutas. Material y métodos: Estudio descriptivo, cuantitativo, de corte trasversal, muestreo no probabilístico, de casos consecutivos, donde participaron mediante una encuesta 53 jugadores y dos fisioterapeutas de dos clubes de la cuarta división del futbol paraguayo. Resultados: El 64% de las lesiones afectan a miembros inferiores, el 60% se clasifica en moderada, la mayoría compromete las articulaciones. Entre los factores que predisponen las lesiones se evidencian, el sobrepeso, lesiones previas en 94% de los participantes, la falta de recuperación satisfactoria en el 32%, el 77% manifiesta seguir las indicaciones de los fisioterapeutas, el 62% cumple con el calentamiento adecuado y el 85% sigue el plan de entrenamiento. Conclusión: Al ser identificado los factores de riego de las lesiones deportivas, la kinesiología deportiva, junto con el equipo multidisciplinario plantean su intervención, en este caso, se observó que se debe fortalecer el plan de entrenamiento, seguir las indicaciones de los fisioterapeutas, mejorar los hábitos saludables como la alimentación y el descanso, al mismo tiempo cumplir a cabalidad con la utilización de los elementos de prevención de lesiones y el plan de entrenamiento incluyendo el calentamiento y descanso.

The research aimed at identifying the effect of using exercises with different ball sizes and weights on developing some fundamental skills in soccer players aged 9 – 10 years old. The researchers used the experimental method on (20) soccer players from Amo Baba Soccer School. The subjects were equally divided into two groups. The results showed that using different ball weights and sizes have positive effects on fundamental skill development and significantly improving the level of performance in the experimental group that used ball with lesser weights and smaller size compared to the controlling group. The researchers recommended that coaches and supervisors should use balls of different weights and sizes when teaching soccer to younger age groups U10.

Abstract:
This study examined the differences in fundamental motor skills (FMSs) and specific conditioning capacities (SCCs) between a coach’s classification of first team (FT) and second team (ST) U10 soccer players and examined the most important qualities based on how the coach differentiates them. The FT (n = 12; Mage = 9.72 ± 0.41) and ST (n = 11; Mage = 9.57 ± 0.41) soccer players were assessed using the Test of Gross Motor Development-2, standing long jump, sit and reach, diverse sprints, and the 20 m multistage fitness test (MSFT). The coach’s subjective evaluation of players was obtained using a questionnaire. No significant differences existed between the FT and ST in any variables (p > 0.05). However, large and moderate effect sizes were present in favour of the FT group in locomotor skills (d = 0.82 (0.08, 1.51)), gross motor quotient (d = 0.73 (0.00, 1.41)), height (d = 0.61 (−0.12, 1.29)), MSFT (d = 0.58 (−0.14, 1.25)), and maximum oxygen uptake (VO2max) (d = 0.55 (−0.17, 1.22)). Furthermore, the coach perceived the FT group as having greater technical and tactical qualities relative to ST players. This suggests that it might be more relevant for players of this age to develop good FMS connected to technical skills, before focusing on SCC. Therefore, it might be beneficial for soccer coaches to emphasize the development of FMSs due to their potential to identify talented young soccer players and because they underpin the technical soccer skills that are required for future soccer success.

Reactive agility (RAG) is a crucial factor of success in sports, but there are practically no studies dealing with RAG among children. The main aim of this study was to identify predictors of RAG among early pubescent boys and girls. The participants were primary school boys (n = 73) and girls (n = 59) aged 11–12. The criterion variable was the originally developed “Triangle” test of reactive agility (Triangle-RAG). Predictors included anthropometric/body composition indices (body height, seated height, body mass, and body fat percentage) and motor abilities (10 and 20 m sprint, broad jump, squat jump, countermovement jump, drop jump, and two tests of change of direction speed—CODS (Triangle-CODS, and 20 yards)). The results of the univariate analysis showed that anthropometric/body composition indices were not significantly correlated to TRAG (0–4% of the common variance), while all motor abilities were significantly associated with TRAG (7–43% of the common variance) in both genders. Among boys, 64% of the TRAG variance was explained by multiple regression, with TCODS as the only significant predictor. Among girls, multiple regression explained 59% of the TRAG-variance with TCODS, countermovement jump, and drop jump as significant predictors. Differences in multivariate results between genders can be explained by (i) greater involvement in agility-saturated sports (i.e., basketball, tennis, soccer) in boys, and (ii) advanced maturity status in girls. The lack of association between anthropometric/body built and TRAG was influenced by the short duration of the TRAG (3.54 ± 0.4 s). Our findings suggest that pre-pubescent and early pubescent children should be systematically trained on basic motor abilities to achieve fundamentals for further developing RAG. Since in this study we observed predictors including only athletic abilities and anthropometric/body composition, in future studies, other motor abilities, as well as cognitive, perceptual, and decision-making parameters as potential predictors of RAG in children should be investigated.

Twenty expert soccer referees, twenty two novice soccer referees and twenty non-athletes male students were investigated for facility of accommodation, peripheral vision, eye saccadic movements and speed of recognition. The results showed that the expert soccer referees were superior in all of the visual skills, but there was no significant difference between novice referees and non-athletes. This substantial difference between expert and novice soccer referees implies that these visual skills are important for refereeing soccer. Existing procedures for the simulation of soccer match play fail to incorporate multidirectional and repeated-sprint activities, even though these movements are considered fundamental to match play. In the current study, selected physiological and performance responses were assessed during an adapted version of an existing soccer simulation protocol. Mean heart rates of 163 ± 14 beats·min–1, mean blood lactates of 4.9 ± 2.3 mmol·L-1 and decrements in single-sprint and repeated-sprint performances were observed. The presented adaptations to an existing soccer simulation protocol better reflect the movement characteristics as well as the physiological and performance responses of soccer match play.

While the objectives of this study were to describe the improvement of learning the basic techniques of soccer kicking and stopping an interesting ball, several conclusions were obtained from the research as follows: The learning plan for the basic soccer technique of kicking and stopping the ball, as outlined in the syllabus and developed in the Learning Implementation Plan, helps condition students to be active, creative, and fun because students are not bored and pressured to learn. Physical education teachers are expected to develop creativity and innovation. The use of fun and dynamic forms of play Making activity models in physical education learning needs to be improved so that students gain convenience in achieving competence. It is necessary to carry out classroom action research for learning other physical education materials so that the goal of improving the quality of physical education learning can be achieved.

Background: Although there are 43 soccer scoring techniques (SSTs) identified in the elite soccer games, most of them are overlooked by the current coaching practice. Obviously, the lack of scientific quantification on the fundamental issues related to SSTs could be one of the reasons for the crisis. Therefore, improving coaching practice requires efforts on fundamental researches to supply evidences that can be used to better guide the SST research and the development of SST training systems. Two of the fundamental aspects are the practicality and effectiveness of SSTs. The current study aims to uncover these two aspects. Method: All repeated nominees of the FIFA Puskás Award were selected as study subjects. The terminology system and the identification method developed by Zhang in 2021 were applied in scoring video analysis of the subjects’ career goals. The percentage of goal obtained by each SST (practicality) and ball possessions before shooting for each goal (effectiveness) were determined to reveal the SSTs’ practicality and shooting effectiveness of the top elite scorers. In total, 2315 goals were quantified. Results and Conclusion: The study has unveiled: 1) the practicality is increased if a SST can be applied in shots under all-body-orientation regardless of the ball spatial position at the instant of shooting, 2) the practicality is also associated with the SSTs that can provide either sudden change of ball motion direction at the instant of shooting or unpredictable ball flight, 3) the effectiveness is linked to shots taken with no or one setting of the ball, and 4) the practicality and effectiveness do not always go along with each other and anthropometrically-dependent characteristics should be considered in SST development. As the 1st pilot investigation on the topic, this study would supply a foundation and rich food for speculative thoughts in further explorations that aim to innovatively develop SSTs’ training systems in the future.

This study examined affordance perception for soccer dribbling using a mixed-methods approach in male grassroots soccer players. We examined how children construct and perceive skills practices for dribbling in soccer. Fourteen boys aged 10–11 years (Mean ± SD = 10.8 ± 0.4 years) who were regularly engaged in grassroots soccer participated in the present study. Children were provided with ten soccer cones and asked to create their own soccer dribbling pattern that would enable them to maximise the number of touches with a football and then dribble the ball in the pattern they had created for a 1 min period. Children were interviewed to explore their perception of affordances for soccer dribbling. The test of gross motor development-3 was used to assess fundamental movement skills (FMS), and the UGent soccer dribbling test was used to assess soccer dribbling skills. Children self-rated their own ability for soccer dribbling, as did their coaches. Pearson’s correlations were employed to examine the associations between quantitative variables, and thematic analysis was used to explore qualitative data. Results of the present study suggest that those children who created patterns with less space between cones accrued more touches of the football in their dribbling task (r = −0.671, p = 0.03). Children with a higher perception of their own dribbling ability had higher scores for FMS (r = 0.604, p = 0.049). Those children who scored better in actual soccer dribbling had higher scores for FMS (r = −0.746, p = 0.012) and were rated as better dribblers by their coaches (r = −0.67, p = 0.03). Interview data suggest a feedback loop between perception of ability and actual ability, which influenced the dribbling patterns that were created. This suggests that dribbling performance is scaled to the (perceived) action capabilities of the children, and children can act as architects in their own skill development.

The aim of the study is to investigate the effect of fifteen-week basic soccer training and education by coaching youth soccer players who are under eight (U8) and under ten (U10) years old. This study has included 24 children (U8 and U10) who have participated in the physical fitness sessions of football at school. Twelve participants in the experimental group (EG) undertook intervention training in games. Twelve young players served as a control group (CG) undertook traditional training methods used in Dali Football Club. Experimental groups indicated greater improvements than control groups (P<0.05) at four tests of basic technical education of football. The results indicated that soccer education and training four times a week can improve the basic skills of football of U8 and U10 children. Study concluded that the training in games methods considered in this study might be suitable to design an effective coaching methods and training sessions aimed at the development of the fundamental skills in youth soccer players.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between the factors of the Functional Movement Screen(FMS), Y-Balance Test(YBT), and Fundamental Capacity Screen(FCS) according to gender in collegiate soccer players registered with the Korea Football Association. To achieve the purpose of the study, FMS, YBT, and FCS were measured. The data were derived through descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation analysis using SPSS 28.0 and the statistical significance level was set at 0.05. The results analyzed in this study are as follows. First, male soccer players had higher levels of stability and symmetry in the FCS Single Leg Jump than female in the FMS total score. And, the level of symmetry in Single Leg Jump of FCS was also higher in men. Second, FMS Total Score and Stability Part showed correlations in most factors of YBT and FCS. Third, all of the YBT values showed correlations in most factors of the FCS. This result means that gender should be considered when seeking strategies to improve the performance of soccer players. It is also expected that it will be used as valuable data to understand the transferability of exercise effects of step-by-step training programs.

Soccer teaching involves imparting fundamental skills, tactics, and strategies related to the sport of soccer. Coaches and instructors focus on teaching players proper techniques for dribbling, passing, shooting, and defending, while also emphasizing teamwork, sportsmanship, and game awareness. Soccer teaching sessions typically include a combination of drills, scrimmages, and tactical discussions tailored to the age and skill level of the players. This paper proposed an effective soccer assessment technique for teaching ability with the Automated Probabilistic Deep Learning (APDL) model. The proposed APDL model comprises an automated model for the assessment of student performance. The proposed APDL model processes the input soccer images with the pre-processing of the features. With APDL model uses the probabilistic computation features for the computation of the variables in the soccer data. With the extraction of the features, the maximum likelihood is computed for the classification with the deep learning model features. The APDL model implements the classification-based deep learning model features with the examination of soccer teaching, instruction, development of skill, and players. Simulation results demonstrated that prediction with the APDL model estimates the probability of prediction as 0.91 with an estimated uncertainty value of 0.08. In the case of teaching and coaching assessment, the uncertainty is stated as 0.08 for both with the prediction assessment score of 0.92. The classification accuracy of the proposed APDL model is achieved as 0.95 with the precision value of 0.97. The findings of this research contribute to the advancement of coaching methodologies in soccer, providing coaches and educators with valuable insights into their teaching effectiveness and areas for improvement. Additionally, the automated nature of the APDL model offers scalability and efficiency in assessing coaching performance, paving the way for enhanced coaching practices and player development in soccer.

The objective of this systematic review was to synthesize studies on the indications of burnout in soccer athletes and to identify possible gaps not yet investigated in the analysis of burnout symptoms with other constructs found in the literature. A systematic search was performed in the following databases: Pubmed, Web of Science, Scielo, Scopus, PsychINFO and SPORTDiscus. Articles published in the ten-year time span from March 2010 to March 2020 were included. The descriptors related to the terms (Burnout, football, sport) were verified in the MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) database and the inclusion criteria used were: The criteria inclusion of studies in this systematic review were: a) articles published in the English language; b) empirical studies published in scientific journals with peer review; c) Articles with soccer athletes for at least one year; d) studies with participants with professional soccer players and youth players; e) studies published from March 2010 to March 2020; f) Articles with specific reference to the topic 'Burnout in football'. Through the results and the synthesis of the studies included in this review, the perception that burnout symptoms can be related to several fundamental variables for professional football and for the basic categories was notorious. This tuning of the variables promotes particularities regarding the age group, sex and competitive level. In conclusion, the symptoms of burnout are present and associated with several psychological variables, contributing negatively to the performance of soccer players, regardless of their age group, nationality, or competitive level. The data can help coaches, psychologists, and sports professionals to identify athletes 'daily behaviors that may hinder athletes' performance.

The use of neuromuscular techniques is effective in preventing injuries, especially in periods of growth as occurs in puberty, which coincides with the development of fundamental basic movements. Therefore, it is important to implement and evaluate prevention programs that focus on neuromuscular control during this stage. Objective: To determine the effect of the FIFA 11+ over a six-week training period in order to quickly improve fundamental movement patterns in under-14 soccer players. Method: A quasi-experimental study that evaluated the fundamental movement patterns through the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) in 22 athletes who were divided into a control group (CG; N=11) and an experimental group (EG; N=11), submitted to the program FIFA 11+ for six weeks. The SPSS 20.0 program was used to analyze the data. Results: Statistically significant improvements were found in the in-line lunge (IL) and in the post-intervention FMS total scores in EG, as well as intergroup improvements when testing the deep squat (DS) in the EG, but not in both groups. Conclusions: The six week FIFA 11+ program did not produce significant improvements in players’ fundamental movements.

This study was conducted to examine the effects of sports activities other than soccer on 10-15-year-old soccer players’ motor skills. The sample included 146 registered soccer players in the U category (U10-U15) of the Turkish Football Federation’s Aslantepe, Çeliktepe and Seyrantepe clubs. The players participated in this study on a voluntary basis. The players who participated in the study were divided into two age categories (10-12 and 13-15 years) and two groups, those who only played soccer (OS) and those involved in soccer and other sports (SAO). The study recorded the sociodemographic characteristics of the athletes, the sports they were interested in other than soccer, the weekly time they spent in different sports activities and the number of soccer training sessions they attended each week. The measurements for the study were completed in the first week of the preparation period at the beginning of the soccer season. All the participants were subjected to tests for speed, agility, horizontal jumping, endurance, and the motor tests that measured balance parameters, all of which are important for soccer. The study data were analyzed using SPSS 23.0 software. The study used the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test to determine whether the data had normal distributions. The parameters with normal distributions were analyzed using the t-test, while those without normal distributions were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U test. The threshold for statistical significance was p<0.05. Analysis of the data showed that there were statistically significant (p<0.05) differences between the motor skills test results of the players in SAO group and those in the OS group. Thus, having children get interested in multiple sports at a young age instead of only one, and including forms of play that feature the fundamental skills of different sports in their training programs will positively contribute to the development of their motor skills and improve their performance.

SummaryBackground:The purpose of the present study was to report and discuss the hematological and biochemical behavior of elite soccer players, in order to get more insight in the physiological characteristics of these sportsmen and to provide trainers and sports doctors with useful indicators.Methods:Nineteen male soccer players volunteered to participate in this study. We followed the young elite soccer players during a competitive half season. Venous blood samples were collected between 9:00 and 10:00 a.m. after an overnight fast (10 h) at baseline, after 45 and 90 days and hematological and biochemical parameters were measured.Results:Hemoglobin and hematocrit levels were significantly reduced over the observational period (p<0.05), but erythrocyte count and iron levels remained unchanged. Bilirubin and ferritin levels significantly increased in response to regular soccer training (p<0.05). We observed a significant decrease in muscle enzyme plasma activity during the 90 days study period. ANOVA analysis revealed a significant increase in the leukocyte and neutrophil counts (p<0.05), in parallel with a significant decrease in the lymphocyte count (p<0.05) after the observational period of 90 days.Conclusions:Elite soccer players are characterized by significant changes in biochemical and hematological paramneueters over the half season, which are linked to training workload, as well as adaptation induced by the soccer training. Although the values of the measured parameters fell within the reference range, regular monitoring of the biochemical and hematological parameters is fundamental for the identification of a healthy status and related optimal performances by sport doctors and trainers and selection of a correct workload by trainers.

The sample consisted of 152 male soccer players aged 11-17 years who participated in the in the U-13 (n = 50), U-15 (n = 62) and U-17 (n = 40) Sergipe State Championship in the year 2015. The System of Tactical Assessment in Soccer (FUT-SAT) was used to identify the players’ tactical behavior based on the fundamental tactical principles. The main results of the study show that players presented higher tactical offensive performance (50.8 ± 9.8 points) compared to defensive performance (34.3 ± 5.7 points) (p < 0.001; d = 2,1), and the Depth Mobility principle presented the highest performance indices in the offensive phase (64.1 ± 8.7; F = 54.4; p < 0.001; partial ƞ² = 0.26). Defensive Coverage showed the highest performance indexes in the defensive phase (46.1 ± 24.3; F = 54.4; p < 0.001; partial ƞ² = 0.26).

The purpose of this study is to analysis the relationship between Functional Movement Scree﹙FMS﹚, Y-Balance Test-Lower﹙YBT-L﹚, Fundamental Capacity Screen﹙FCS﹚, and performance-related physical fitness in college soccer players﹙n=47﹚. For this purpose, FMS﹙7 items﹚, YBT-L﹙3 items﹚, FCS﹙8 items﹚, and performance-related physical fitness﹙4 items﹚were measured. Collected data were analyzed using Pearson’s correlation coefficient and muliple linear regression using SPSS 26.0 version. The statistical significance level was set at 0.05﹙p<.05﹚. The analysis results are as follows. FMS, YBT-L, and FCS showed positive correlations in long kick and shooting speed. And negative correlations in sprint and shark skill test. In particular, among FMS, the stability part showed the highest importance. Additionally, FCS and FMS were found to have major effects on performance related physical fitness. In this study, we were able to identify functional movement factors that must be supported to improve soccer players’ performance. It is exepcted that it can be sued as useful basic data for experts training soccer players in the field.

This study aimed to 1) present a new analysis of the interactions between the tactical principles of defensive coverage and delay using the Social Network Analysis (SNA); 2) compare the defensive cooperation patterns presented by players of different categories during a 3vs.3 soccer small-sided games SSG; 3) compare the level of defensive prominence presented by defenders, midfielders, and forwards in 3vs.3 SSG within and between different categories. Twenty-eight soccer athletes from U-13 (n=14) and U-14 (n=14) categories of a sports club performed 3vs.3 SSG for the analysis of the defensive tactical principles. Defensive interactions were considered successful defensive coverage and a delay actions performed within the same time interval. Macro (density and clustering coefficient) and micro (degree centrality, degree prestige and page rank) analyses were used as SNA measures. Results indicated no significant differences between categories for the macro and micro analyses. Only in the U-14 category, midfielders presented higher prominence levels than the other playing positions (p=0.004). We concluded that U-13 and U-14 athletes are not different regarding defensive cooperation patterns. A higher positional tactical knowledge obtained through deliberate practice is essential to induce different defensive interactions between playing positions, as shown by significant differences only in the U-14 category.

Background. It is well known that periods of inactivity generate a loss of muscle strength, a fundamental component of sports performance in soccer. However, little information is available on the decrease in strength levels in professional soccer players after the quarantine lockdown that occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic. Aim. To compare the isokinetic peak torque profiles of professional soccer players from different teams before and after the quarantine period generated by COVID-19. Methods. A retrospective observational study was performed using data collected from two different professional elite-level soccer teams just before and immediately after the COVID-19 quarantine period. One team gave individual instructions to its players for conditioning maintenance at home during the quarantine period, while the other team used regular video calls to maintain the player’s conditioning status on home training. The main outcomes were the mean peak torque of knee extensors and flexors, from concentric and eccentric contractions of each playing position. Analysis. A two-way ANOVA analysis was used to compare peak torque before and after the quarantine period and between both teams’ strategies, showing a statistically significant reduction in eccentric knee flexor peak torque from the team that did not have remote monitoring. Conclusions. Remote monitoring programs are recommended so that athletes are less affected by the deleterious effects of confinement.

Soccer is a sport practiced worldwide by both men and women, where nutrition plays a fundamental role in the performance of soccer players, providing them with the nutrients necessary for energy, muscle recovery and injury prevention. The aim of this study is to describe the dietary habits in elite soccer players and their association with their competitive level, playing position and sex. A descriptive and non-experimental comparative study was conducted during the 2021–2022 competitive season. A total of 105 players belonging to a Spanish elite soccer team completed a food frequency questionnaire (FCFQ). It was observed that male players presented a higher consumption of carbohydrate-rich foods (p < 0.05), fermented foods (p = 0.014), frozen foods (p = 0.049) and red meat (p = 0.012) compared to female players, with the exception of lean meats, which were higher in females (p = 0.012). Furthermore, the U16-15 categories stand out for consuming carbohydrate-rich foods such as pasta (p = 0.000), bread (p = 0.004) and sweets (p = 0.046), as well as frozen foods (p = 0.002). Finally, alcohol consumption is higher in the senior categories (42.9%), where men are more likely to drink mixed drinks (6.2%), and beer and wine by women (10.7%). Practically no differences were found between the playing positions. In conclusion, differences were found in FCFQ according to competitive level and sex.

Passing is one of the fundamental techniques in football. Good passing skills enable players to participate in the game effectively and maintain possession of the ball. Paired short passing drills also help improve individual skills. This research aims to find out whether short passing training in pairs can increase the accuracy of soccer passing in adolescent soccer players. The quantitative method used in the research is a pre-experimental design through one group pretest and posttest. The research instrument used a ball passing accuracy test for 30 seconds and used the short passing practice method in pairs. The population in this study consisted of 20 male Rekminers Club soccer players aged 15-17 years. The sample was selected using a total sampling technique, and the entire population sampled was 20 players. The data analysis technique uses the t-test to test the hypothesis to increase soccer passing accuracy in the pretest and posttest treatment using SPSS version 26. Based on the results of hypothesis testing using the t-test in paired short passing exercises with football passing accuracy ability, there is a significant influence based on pretest and posttest data analysis of 0.000 < 0.05. This exercise was successfully carried out to improve the accuracy of football passing. The research results show that short passing training in pairs is an effective method for improving the passing accuracy of football players.
