Abstract:
This article examines the components of composite derivation as indicators of gender differentiation during the Norman influence era. The study explores the ways in which composite derivation in language reflects and reinforces gender norms and stereotypes. The research suggests that the linguistic structure of composite derivations can reveal underlying social constructs related to gender, highlighting the influence of the Normans on gender differentiation in language. The findings contribute to the understanding of how language both reflects and shapes societal attitudes towards gender durin

Objectives: This study aims to examine the effect of variations in word derivations in the Holy Quran on conveying their communicative impact when translated into English. Specifically, the study seeks to identify which of the selected translations have preserved the intended pragmatic effect triggered by word derivation variations in each Ayah when translated into English.
Methods: To achieve this objective, the study compiles a corpus consisting of Ayahs containing randomly selected morphological derivation variations from the Holy Quran and their translations in English by Ali (1934),

AbstractThe aim of this paper is to study the derivation of appropriate meso- and macroscopic models for interactions as appearing in social processes. There are two main characteristics the models take into account, namely a network structure of interactions, which we treat by an appropriate mesoscopic description, and a different role of interacting agents. The latter differs from interactions treated in classical statistical mechanics in the sense that the agents do not have symmetric roles, but there is rather an active and a passive agent. In real markets, to some degree, every trade will incur a non-zero cost and will influence the price of the asset traded. In situations where a dynamic trading strategy is implemented these liquidity effects can play a significant role. In this thesis we examine two situations in which such trading strategies are inherent to the problem; that of pricing a derivative contingent on the asset and that of executing a large portfolio transaction in the asset. The asset's finite liquidity has been incorporated explicitly into its price dynamics using the Bakstein-Howison model [4]. Using this model

The spatial, temporal, and kinesthetic features of reenactment in dance also apply to what is perhaps the most creative and destructive figure of the present day, the derivative. Quite literally, derivatives restage past performance as a prospect of future gain, they seek profits from sudden shifts in equilibrium, mining volatility for inventive returns. As avatars of the ways in which value is realized in movement, derivatives invite consideration of what dance knows so well. Dance, of course, relies upon risk, but also engenders other ways of valuing the creation of the unexpected. Whereas f

Abstract:
The development of “ABCD” technology (Artificial intelligence, Blockchain, Cloud computing, and Big data) has promoted the design and development of new and innovative technologies, which fundamentally revolutionized the ways organizations manage themselves. However, digital transformations have also brought in new challenges. Against the backdrop of growing internationalization, cross-border collaborations, and increasing global trade, it is of utmost importance to explore how technology renovates the intercultural dialogues, negotiations, trainings, and the subsequent knowledge transfer proc

Abstract:
The nascent work reviewed in this compendium indicates that married girls experience significant social isolation and limited autonomy. Across the studies examined, on indicators of mobility, exposure to media, and social networks, married girls are consistently disadvantaged compared to their unmarried peers. Similarly, across studies, on most of the domains explored here (mobility, decision-making, control over economic resources, and possibly gender-based violence), married girls tend to be less empowered and more isolated than slightly older married females. Abstract:
The reproduction number R is a key indicator used to monitor the dynamics of Covid-19 and to assess the effects of infection control strategies that frequently have high social and economic costs. Despite having an analog in demography’s “net reproduction rate” that has been routinely computed for a century, demographers may not be familiar with the concept and measurement of R in the context of Covid-19. This article is intended to be a primer for understanding and estimating R in demography. We show that R can be estimated as a ratio between the numbers of new cases today divided by the weig

Abstract:
The communication of naturally complex issues like climate change, tipping points, socio-ecological systems, and their interaction with the hydrological cycle and water security is equally important as it is challenging. Beyond the complexity, the long-term and often delayed characteristics furthermore do not match with either political election cycles or quarterly business reports. Academic institutions are at the forefront to assess, reveal and understand such complex systems, but certainly more engagement is needed to effectively transfer the most urgent derivations in practice and policy o
