Abstract:
This essay examines the notion of the fantastic in Debora Vogel’s work. I argue that the fantastic for Vogel is simultaneously a novel artistic form and a form of life, as well as a singular use of language; it is both a “trait” of modernity and thinking of modernity. The fantastic is analyzed as a key term in the author’s understanding of modern design of space and objects through discussions of “Dwelling in its Psychic and Social Function” (1932), the critic’s essay on lived space. I demonstrate that Vogel’s reflections and theorizing of the fantastic are not necessarily aimed at the development of pure theory and concepts but rather at the performance of the fantastic in the author’s own theory-praxis through the lens of Vogel’s essay on poetics, “White Words in Poetry” (1930). The essay discusses various types of the fantastic which finds itself between matter-of-factness and phantasm: the fantastic of ingenuity, the fantastic of asymmetry, the fantastic of color, and the fantastic of simplicity. All of these different types set forth the unconcealment of truth.

Abstract:
Blockchain is one of the primary digital technologies utilised in the finance industry with huge future potential. This study conducts a systematic literature review of a final sample of 407 prior literature from an initial set of 1979 records for the sample period of 2013–2020 with regard to blockchain adoption in banking. This review is further supplemented by a machine learning based textual analysis that identifies key themes, trends, divergences and gaps between academic and practitioner led industry literature. Moreover, the study highlights present, future use cases, adoption barriers and misconceptions of blockchains in banking, especially given COVID-19. Furthermore, this study identifies behavioural, social, economic, regulatory and managerial implications of blockchain based banking. In addition, our study identifies the cross-industry potential of blockchains via banking, thus, linking much disconnected prior literature. Finally, we develop a blockchain adoption framework and an adoption life cycle for banking. This study would be of interest to academics, bankers, regulators, investors, auditors and other stakeholders in financial markets.

Abstract:
Future historians will note many parallels between the 1930s and the 1990s in Europe and North America. Both decades appear to be times of dramatic cultural upheaval and societal transformation. Indeed, many of the battles fought over capitalism, democracy, and cultural modernism in the 1930s have returned in recent struggles over a global economy, the welfare state, and cultural postmodernism. Hence it may be instructive for contemporary Christian scholars to revisit the seminal texts of European philosophy in the 1930s. Cultural theorists have long recognized the significance of Martin Heidegger’s essay “The Origin of the Work of Art,” both as a turning point in his own thinking and as a fundamental challenge to modern aesthetics. Presented as lectures in 1935-36 and first published in German in 1950, the essay develops a conception of artistic truth that breaks entirely with Kantian divisions among epistemology, ethics, and aesthetics. Much less recognized, even among his students and followers, is the significance of Herman Dooyeweerd’s discussion of art from around the same time.3 First published in Dutch in 1936 and then revised and republished in English in 1957, Dooyeweerd’s discussion presents a conception of the artwork that reconfigures the Kantian divisions discarded by Heidegger.

Abstract:
In a 1961 interview with the journalist Studs Terkel, James Baldwin offered a riveting assessment of Bessie Smith’s “Backwater Blues.” “It’s a fantastic kind of understatement,” Baldwin tells Terkel. “It’s the way I want to write.” Baldwin hears something in Bessie, a sonic and discursive quality he aspires to and identifies as “fantastic.” This essay considers the speculative undertones of Bessie’s blues and Baldwin’s literary realism. I argue that Bessie’s doubled vocalization in “Backwater Blues” lyrically declares her immobility and circumscription, while tonally staging freedom and boundlessness. Baldwin is drawn to this dual orientation and enunciation, a vocalization that in its iteration of the real transcends the social, spatial, and imaginative limitations of that order. If we read “Sonny’s Blues” the way Baldwin hears Bessie, as a fantastic kind of understatement, we discern subtle sonic and spatial iterations of the irreal. Attending to microtonal sounds in “Sonny’s Blues”—screams, whistling, jukeboxes—I show that the speculative emerges in Baldwin’s story when the sonic overrides the racialized inscription of space.

Abstract:
The present paper aims to study the trajectorie of the protagonists of the short stories \"O attack\", by Luiz Ruffato; And \"Frontal com Fanta\" by Jorge Furtado. The main characters of the stories, when they live an experience with the unusual, are forced to deal with the most varied judgments on the part of the society, which do not seem, precisely, to contemplate the true reality lived by them. Faced with this, in the light of materialist criticism and theories of fantasy, this work aims to investigate how the protagonists\' path denounces ideological mechanisms that do not necessarily determine a collective truth, but regulate and prevail the dominant social values in each of the contexts addressed. Based on this literary analysis, the research still advances on the hypothesis that fantastic literature is not disconnected from the dialogue with reality and the representations of life in society.

This study aims to verify how the fantastic elements and the narrative composition of Pedro Páramo (1995) are done aesthetically. We intend to reflect about the proportion that the work finishes the perspectives of contemporary latin american narrative and joins it in a social memory. The concept of fantastic used for the present study is based on Todorov (1975), which recognizes it as a time of hesitation caused in the reader as a reflection of the narrative. The inherent hesitation in the fantastic corresponds to the unfinished dialog between the rational and the nonrational, to the imbalance between reality and the supernatural, to the unbelievable reasonableness caused by the occurrence of the supernatural and its consequent questioning. In this perspective, we looked for theoretical support in the reflections proposed by the Cuban Alejo Carpentier (1954), when it comes to the wonderful realism as opposition to the wonderful proposed by surrealists. It is important to detach that, in the context of the latin american literature production, the notion of wonderful real would be a result of the cultural mix of Latin America, according to Alejo Carpentier. It is observed, in Pedro Páramo, a rupture attempt and reversal with the hierarchy and traditional aesthetics of text, as the plausible and implausible are incorporated, thus distorting ritual practices of speeches until then practiced and inaugurate a new poetic way, where minorities are convened to integrate the new discursive woof and to contribute in the deconstruction of hegemonic discourse in Latin- American context. Pedro Páramo is alongside other works responsible by the revolution in the sense of contravening the rules in the style of writing and in the form of addressing the issue of Latin American culture.

Abstract:

Abstract:
The starting-point of this study is the hypothesis that it is possible to discover, in the production of the child in a diagnostic situation, particular expressions of the unconscions structure of fantasies of its whole family group. The method used consists of analysis, within a psychoanalytical perspective, of the case - studies of four children brought to the Program of Mental Health of the G.P. Souza Health Center of the School of Public Health of the University of são Paulo. Such case - studies differ in the processes adopted, each of them making use of some of the following instruments: interviews with one or both of the parents, interviews with the children, drawings and stories and the CAT - Child Aperception Test. The point which the four children have in comrnon- which was the reason for their being selected - was the fact of their having lost one of the rnembers of their family Theloss was a datum of reality on the basis of which it was possible to perceive how each family is structured and how such structuring appears in the child\'s material. The child\'s production was considered under the double aspect of the fantasy family - the family which the child constructs for itself on the basis of its anxieties, defences and desires - and also on the farnily\'s fantasy -the structure of unconscious fantasies created by the family as a group. It is possible to see, by means-of the material how the family structure determines the thinking and feeling of the child who expresses them through a particular 11 translation\'\' (according to his/her own dynamic) of the family\'s fantasy life.

Abstract:
Nyckelord: Fantasi, bedömning, betyg, styrdokument, gymnasieskola, individ, kollektiv, reproduktion

Abstract:
The purpose of this qualitative study was to investigate the experience of parallel cybersex contacts among people living with a partner. Interviews were conducted with six informants who lived in a partner relationship while having sexual contact with others online. Content analysis identified three main themes: parallel cybersex contacts, the internet as a format and sexual arena, as well as presentation and exploration. The empirics show benefits and costs of cybersex to the relationship with the committed partner, identification of distinctive qualities of the Internet as a context for sexual experience, and the perception of cybersex as a platform for experimentation and exploration of sexual identity and sexual activities. The findings of the study indicate that the informants felt that the cybersex contacts satisfied sexual desires that the informants did not feel were satisfied within the partner relationship.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:

Naylor, Alex. "“My Skin Has Turned to Porcelain, to Ivory, to Steel”: Feminist Fan Discourses, Game of Thrones, and the Problem of Sansa." Abstract:
Alex Naylor’s “‘My Skin Has Turned to Porcelain, to Ivory, to Steel’: Feminist Fan Discourses, Game of Thrones, and the Problem of Sansa” explores debates on Tumblr over the sword-fighting, genderbending figure of Arya Stark and her princess-turned-stoic-survivalist sister, Sansa. Fan perspectives on Sansa, Naylor finds, take the form of intense appreciations of her, reflections on how her narrative refracts issues of young women’s victimization and survival, and “defenses” that confront her detractors and implicate the role of sexism and misogyny in some fans’ vocal dislike of the character. Because, for many young women, this kind of online popular culture critique is their first introduction to feminist ideas, argues Naylor, it is most productively explored within the context of a wider debate in both feminist and fandom social media spaces about what a modern feminist ethics of media consumption might look like.

Abstract:
‘Sex: The Brains of Female Hyena Twins’ was originally a paper read at the second annual conference of the Academic Fantastic Fiction Network, at Reading University in December 1994, and was also published in Strange Attractors. Throughout the essay, Jones makes comparisons to the sexual habits and composition of other species and wildlife, but pays particularly close attention to the changing attitudes toward gender, human sexual behaviour and social roles in feminist science fiction and other literature.
