Abstract:
This essay examines the notion of the fantastic in Debora Vogel’s work. I argue that the fantastic for Vogel is simultaneously a novel artistic form and a form of life, as well as a singular use of language; it is both a “trait” of modernity and thinking of modernity. The fantastic is analyzed as a key term in the author’s understanding of modern design of space and objects through discussions of “Dwelling in its Psychic and Social Function” (1932), the critic’s essay on lived space. I demonstrate that Vogel’s reflections and theorizing of the fantastic are not necessarily aimed at the development of pure theory and concepts but rather at the performance of the fantastic in the author’s own theory-praxis through the lens of Vogel’s essay on poetics, “White Words in Poetry” (1930). The essay discusses various types of the fantastic which finds itself between matter-of-factness and phantasm: the fantastic of ingenuity, the fantastic of asymmetry, the fantastic of color, and the fantastic of simplicity. All of these different types set forth the unconcealment of truth.

Abstract:
Blockchain is one of the primary digital technologies utilised in the finance industry with huge future potential. This study conducts a systematic literature review of a final sample of 407 prior literature from an initial set of 1979 records for the sample period of 2013–2020 with regard to blockchain adoption in banking. This review is further supplemented by a machine learning based textual analysis that identifies key themes, trends, divergences and gaps between academic and practitioner led industry literature. Moreover, the study highlights present, future use cases, adoption barriers and misconceptions of blockchains in banking, especially given COVID-19. Furthermore, this study identifies behavioural, social, economic, regulatory and managerial implications of blockchain based banking. In addition, our study identifies the cross-industry potential of blockchains via banking, thus, linking much disconnected prior literature. Finally, we develop a blockchain adoption framework and an adoption life cycle for banking. This study would be of interest to academics, bankers, regulators, investors, auditors and other stakeholders in financial markets.

Future historians will note many parallels between the 1930s and the 1990s in Europe and North America. Both decades appear to be times of dramatic cultural upheaval and societal transformation. Indeed, many of the battles fought over capitalism, democracy, and cultural modernism in the 1930s have returned in recent struggles over a global economy, the welfare state, and cultural postmodernism. Hence it may be instructive for contemporary Christian scholars to revisit the seminal texts of European philosophy in the 1930s. Cultural theorists have long recognized the significance of Martin Heidegger’s essay “The Origin of the Work of Art,” both as a turning point in his own thinking and as a fundamental challenge to modern aesthetics. Presented as lectures in 1935-36 and first published in German in 1950, the essay develops a conception of artistic truth that breaks entirely with Kantian divisions among epistemology, ethics, and aesthetics. Much less recognized, even among his students and followers, is the significance of Herman Dooyeweerd’s discussion of art from around the same time.3 First published in Dutch in 1936 and then revised and republished in English in 1957, Dooyeweerd’s discussion presents a conception of the artwork that reconfigures the Kantian divisions discarded by Heidegger.

In a 1961 interview with the journalist Studs Terkel, James Baldwin offered a riveting assessment of Bessie Smith’s “Backwater Blues.” “It’s a fantastic kind of understatement,” Baldwin tells Terkel. “It’s the way I want to write.” Baldwin hears something in Bessie, a sonic and discursive quality he aspires to and identifies as “fantastic.” This essay considers the speculative undertones of Bessie’s blues and Baldwin’s literary realism. I argue that Bessie’s doubled vocalization in “Backwater Blues” lyrically declares her immobility and circumscription, while tonally staging freedom and boundlessness. Baldwin is drawn to this dual orientation and enunciation, a vocalization that in its iteration of the real transcends the social, spatial, and imaginative limitations of that order. If we read “Sonny’s Blues” the way Baldwin hears Bessie, as a fantastic kind of understatement, we discern subtle sonic and spatial iterations of the irreal. Attending to microtonal sounds in “Sonny’s Blues”—screams, whistling, jukeboxes—I show that the speculative emerges in Baldwin’s story when the sonic overrides the racialized inscription of space.

It is known that, over time and for various reasons, part of a community chooses, expresses or accentuates a certain status (political, economic, religious, sexual etc.), gradually losing its general-community identity and individualizing one's own. Viewed and perceived as new socio-cultural constructions within the basic structure (community matrix), both inter-dependently and dependent on the majority, this minority acquires (or will be assigned!) new directions of evolution/involution, far away from the general pattern, in time stalking or even posturing a new identity and consciousness. Charged or fined by the majority community, sometimes tolerated, sometimes categorically rejected. There are many cases, both old and new, of such segmentations, enclavings or exclusions with an economic, cultural or racial nature, generated by the imagination and/or authoritarianism of the majority: homo sapiens will use slowly but surely and irreversibly the tyranny of the majority and progress on less advanced technological-cognitive relatives, neanderthals and denisovans (plus several other subspecies of hominids, contemporary with homo sapiens); over the time, Christians will anathematize, enclave and/or kill the Jews for improbable deeds or on the basis of arrogant ethical/moral superiorities; the ancient or feudal masters disposed of the lives and possessions of the slaves they had, as they pleased; those who did not conform to official dogmas became instantly heretics and liable to all sorts of punishments (see the actions and justifications of the Inquisition); the prejudices regarding skin color, sexual orientation, ethnic or political affiliation, sometimes aggressively (apartheid in South Africa or racial segregation in the US) have determined certain defensive behaviors of these minorities, marginalized or excluded. Examples can easily be multiplied (talking about minors, the marginalized or excluded ones culturally, economically, racially, medically etc. for almost every country), but this is not the desideratum of the present study. Functionally and adaptively, the norms of a traditional community such as the Romanian one, repeatedly violated and corroborated with the refusal of alterity, led to a cultural-negative perception and to the location outside of the limits set by the community of such socio-cultural categories. Such marginals (called gueux in France, rogue in England, abenteurer in Germany, or picaras in Spain) are often mentioned at the level of fantastic Romanian fairy tale even if the details are meteoric or extremely lapidary. As the fantastic Romanian fairy tale illustrates, it is established and legitimated first of all the ideal of purity, beauty and superiority (social, economic, moral); still there are mentions of the problematical interethnic relations, cultural conflicts, failures of social adaptation to the generally accepted system; finally, as we do not have such a study about these social categories, I find it appropriate to approach this topic. My approach will be a structural-functional one, dialectically speaking, most of the mentions about these social categories being found in the anthologies of fairy tales, juxtaposing, overlapping or complementing the three categories (marginal, minority, excluded) conceptually.

The article carries out a systematic study of the genre of R. Riggs’ work „Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children”, establishes its genre originality, states the features of different types of genre in the structure of one work, which is manifested in the multi-genre nature of the work. The article thoroughly and consistently proves that the work of R. Riggs „Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children” is a novel form, which is characterized by genre syncretism, as the genre structure combines features of fantasy, adventure, social novels and oral folklore, thoroughly decorated with philosophical motives. This „universality” is formed due to the relevant themes, issues, eidology, plot and compositional features. „Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children” is a multi-genre novel that combines several genres. The genre of the work can be called a fantastic-social novel-fairy tale, where the philosophical and psychological themes are constant. The author managed to reveal important social and psychological themes within the fantastic chronotope, which is presented by comparing real and unreal time-space. Constant in the novel is the image of the protagonist, who is the narrator, through the perspective of which the story achieves its subjectivity. The novel is characterized by a set of motives: social (war, genocide, inclusion, etc.), existential (meaning of life, existence of personality), psychological (loneliness, soul, loss), socio-historical (war, friendship, love, help), philosophical (good and evil, death, life), etc., which, combined, form a complex and unique artistic world of the novel form.

Abstract:
The article considers one of the views on God existing within the modern Western literary tradition and out-side of religious systems. The image of God was chosen as a cultural phenomenon relevant for interpretation, which exists both in religious and secular discourse. The research involved the creative heritage of Robert Sheck-ley – one of the most popular authors of fantastic literature in the mid-20th century. The analysis was based on fantastic tales, since they provide the opportunity to prove all strategies for social behaviour, as well as different views on life. The image of God created by Sheckley was reconstructed using intertextual analysis, which helps identify original mythological and religious narratives and individual allusions. This provides the opportunity to define the features of Sheckley's individual fantastic theology and find the reasons for using the image of God in secular literature. The analysis revealed that the used religious names, denominations and plots bear only formal similarity with the traditional ones. They are used and interpreted arbitrarily. God is interpreted as being anthro-pomorphic, pragmatic, partial and not interested in the fate of his creation. Communication with God is described as commercialised and is built on the model of the consumer society. The works of Sheckley indicate the possibil-ity and necessity of contact between the man and God with the obligatory personal participation of the individual. The American writer creates texts that are modernised in terms of the plot using traditional Christian ideas about the spiritual development of people and the need to preserve the Christian value system as a universal one. In this connection, Sheckley offers possible behavioural models for the created image of God.

AbstractThe present study examines the impact of British colonial rule on waqf practice in Zanzibar. I argue that colonial policy towards waqf did not aim at the dismantlement of waqf as such. Nonetheless, it disrupted traditional patterns of waqf practice. Traditionally, waqf was controlled by wealthy patron families who used endowments to foster bonds of dependence and loyalty with manifold clientele and to maintain mosques representing the patron's social status. This practice was antithetical to British political and economic ideas, which were modern and capitalist. British officials insisted that patrons must use their wealth as a business resource and that the maintenance of mosques was a responsibility of the state. Accordingly, the British controlled waqf administration classified endowments as either "family waqf" or "mosque waqf". The first was fully exploited in favour of the founder's family, while the latter was turned into revenue for public mosque upkeep. As a result, waqf ceased to be an economic base for patron-client relationships and clients were transformed into a modern working class entirely dependent on wage labour.

The imaginary, through the totality of beliefs, speaking about the stage of the oldness is well emphasized and structured for a good contouring and phenomenological reception of the symbols of intimacy from the Romanian fantastic fairy tale, the subject claiming a particular approach. Representing a biological and spiritual-ethical reality, this final stage of life manifests and maintains a subtle “network" of mythological, mental, psycho-social and cultural interferences. Endorsements from numerous and various anthologies of fairy tales invariably talks about the carnal body perishability, about the effects of biological degradation occurring over time. Moreover, the features used by the anonymous creator of fairy tale, are all in this directory of the ephemeral and the overwhelming proportion counter to the young youth with virile hero fairytale “displays" in front of such old persons. Distracted for a certain period of their time (knowned and physically limited), discovering, experimenting and living part of a historical Times, these fairy-tale heroes are disturbed by its limitations. Sometimes they discover magical remedies that rejuvenate an aging body, discovering, experiencing and / or living, even temporarily, a seductive myhtologist like the realm of eternal youth. Sometimes they can live forever, they can enjoy the presence of extremely beautiful and young female beings, but then they seem to want old age and / or death more and more! Other times, in personalist ontology, the hero will discover that what originally seemed to be a noematic gain (the eternity of his ephemeral life) slowly changes into a continuous loss, in a non-natural negative. In the great majority of the fairy tales, the symbolic intentionality of the change of consciousness over the time (to live) is evident, through which the divine-profane relationship can be overthrown, as well as the specific significance of its meaning in illo tempore, the divinity between man's ephemerality and the ideatic desire to transcend his perishability condition. As such, starting from a composite and ideological epistemic concept (oldness as an ideologem), in this study we tried to discover and analyze what are the main-ideas of this “institution of old age" from the fantastic Romanian fairy tale, at the level of the cultural-social imagination. Thus, we have brought into discussion both the mythical dimension of such a concept (the archetype of oldness) and the structural-narrative, with the forms and contents supposed or taken at the level of the fantastic epic fantasy (the posology of old age, magic cures and rituals un-aging, paradisiac realms of eternal youth).

Tujuan Penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui sejauh mana peningkatan keterampilan siswa dalam menulis letter of opinion di Kelas XI. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada kelas XI-IPS-2 SMA Negeri 15 Semarang semester 1 Tahun Pelajaran 2017-2018 sebagai hasil penggunaan media fantastic card. Penelitian ini juga digunakan untuk mengetahui sejauh mana peningkatan pengetahuan dan sikap belajar siswa selama pembelajaran. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas dengan teknik siklus yang terdiri dari dua tindakan siklus yaitu siklus 1 dan siklus 2. Alat pengumpulan data yang digunakan untuk data kuantitatif berupa tes tertulis ulangan harian dan data kualitatif digunakan lembar observasi atau pengamatan, lembar refleksi diri, lembar penilaian antar teman, dan rubrik penilaian kinerja. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan media fantastic card dapat meningkatkan keterampilan menulis letter of opinion. Ketuntasan Belajar mengalami peningkatan dari kondisi awal 53,13% menjadi 65,63% pada siklus I dan meningkat menjadi 93,75% pada siklus II. Peningkatan keterampilan siswa dalam menulis letter of opinion pada siklus I mencapai 2,53% dari rata-rata hasil belajar pada pra siklus dan hasil belajar pada siklus II mengalami peningkatan sebesar 6,81% dari rata-rata hasil belajar pada siklus I atau mengalami peningkatan sebesar 9,34% jika dibandingkan dengan rata-rata hasil belajar pada pra siklus.Kata kunci: menulis, letter of opinion, media fantastic cardABSTRACTThis research was aimed to find out the extent of students’ skill at writing letter of opinion in 11th grade. The research was conducted in the 11th Grade of Social Science 2at Public Senior High School 15 Semarang in Academic Year 2017-2018 after using fantastic card. It was to know the improvement of knowledge and attitude of the students during learning. Method used was class action research method with cycle technique consisting of two cycles, i.e. cycle 1 and cycle 2. Instruments of data taking were written daily tests and as for qualitative data, observation sheet, self-reflection sheet, peer evaluation sheet, and performance evaluation rubric were used. Results of the research showed that fantastic card could improve the skill of writing letter of opinion. The learning completeness improved from 53.13% to 65.63% in cycle I, and 93.75% in cycle II. The students’ skill in writing letter of opinion in cycle I improved up to 2.53% from the average learning result in pre-cycle. Meanwhile, th elearning result in cycle II improved as much as 6.81% from the average learning result in cycle I, or 9.34%, compared to the average learning result in pre-cycle.

Early modern men and women were ardent, even “passionate” consumers. Such self-indulgence was regarded as decadent and socially perilous; religious and other moral authorities of the era sought to eradicate or at least control these sins of excess. My study examines criticism of “crimes of consumption” in both serious and satirical French literature of the early modern era, including such pamphlets as Frenaizie fantastique Françoise Sur la Nouvelle Mode des Nouveaux Courtisans bottez de ce temps and Pasquil de la Cour pour apprendre à discourir et s’habiller à la mode. Scrutiny of these texts suggest that women’s “crimes of consumption” tended to reveal who they “really were”—bad women, sinful women, dangerous women who led men into sin. Men’s crimes of passionate consumption sometimes also revealed their sinful selves—some were seen as gluttons, for example. But men’s consumption was also, at times, condemned as an attempt to appear to be what they were not; their display of acquired objects revealed an effort to claim membership in a social class to which they did not belong. Dès les débuts de la modernité, hommes et femmes furent des consommateurs ardents, voire « passionnés ». S’adonner au plaisir d’acquérir était sévèrement condamné par les théologiens et les moralistes. Cet article examine la critique de ces passions excessives dans la littérature morale et satirique de l’époque, incluant les pamphlets tels que Frenaizie fantastique Françoise Sur la Nouvelle Mode des Nouveaux Courtisans bottez de ce temps et Pasquil de la Cour pour apprendre à discourir et s’habiller à la mode. Objective: Tobacco dependence is quite variable among individuals because it includes many aspects such as psychological, emotional, behavioral, and cultural perspectives. This study aimed to evaluate the social and emotional issues of patients in a smoking cessation program through the generic and specific quality of life questionnaires. Material and Methods: Two generic questionnaires (SF36 and Fantastic Lifestyle) and two specific (SRQ-20 for depression and IDATE s/t for levels of state and anxiety trait) were applied at the first meeting and after three months of treatment. Data were statistically analyzed by the Pearson correlation coefficient (significance level of 5%). Results: In total, 15 participants (10 men, 5 women), with mean age of 60 and 56, respectively. The mean of the smoking intake was 65.88±34.37 for men and 35.66±11.17 for women. SRQ20 and IDATE s/t indicated that poor improvement in depression and anxiety was related to relapse; SF36 questionnaire indicated improvement in the domains of physical aspect limit, pain, social and emotional aspects; Fantastic Lifestyle indicated improvement according to its scale, being in a first moment "Regular" (53 points), and later, "Good" (55.67 points). Conclusion: In conclusion, smoking cessation treatment is correlated to the decrease in anxiety and depression levels and improvement of the general quality of life. Using theoretical developments in the field of anthropology of nature, the problem of perception of social bonds in beavers and other animals by residents of the Volga region was considered. It was noted that Abu Khamida al-Garnati’s description of the beaver community clearly goes back to the ideas of merchants of Aru or Volga Bulgaria. This type of perception of the animate nature is closer to the culture of Islamic civilizations, rather than animism. In Abu Khamida al-Garnati’s view, beavers were devoid of obvious cultural attributes, even such elements of animal culture that were recognized in the Islamic world. However, the strict opposition of the natural and social aspects in the modern world makes researchers see in this message something that is not in it. Nowadays, Abu Khamida al-Garnati’s message about beavers is commonly perceived as partly reliable or fantastic, but not because beavers were overhumanized (as researchers say). The reason is the peculiarities of functioning of the system, in which beavers, communities that hunted them, and countries of the East formed a single social network.

The poet did not undertake to find out what the young girl's thoughts and dreams were, so I will try to reconstruct them. Fantastic as they sometimes are, dreams nevertheless reflect the ideals predominant in society and express people's attitudes toward personal happiness and social well-being. The realities of life inevitably underlie them. Individual circumstances, as well as many social, economic, and cultural factors, have a bearing upon the relationship between a person's dreams and reality. Closely interwoven, they make up a sort of microcosm that may be balanced or conflicted. Focusing primarily on the intellectual side of this microcosm, I will consider the aspirations of Russian provintsial 'nye baryshni (provincial young ladies) and their everyday life over the 150-year period after Peter the Great's reforms.

Guido Gozzano's "Piumadoro e Piombofino" (1909) is a text light in terms of genre (a literary fairy tale), style (six short, poetic segments, rich in repetitions and fantastic elements), and, most obviously, content (the eponymous protagonist suffers from a spell that has made her body weightless). A comparison between Gozzano's tale and its two literary antecedents — George MacDonald's "The Light Princess" and Luigi Capuana's "Piuma d'oro" — reveals a play with citations and literary models analogous to that found in Gozzano's poetry as well as the addition of significant social reflections: Gozzano's protagonist overcomes the hurdles of a difficult age (embodied in the tasks of the Fairy of Adolescence); she saves the man she loves rather than the other way around; she starts out at the lowest social rank and becomes, in the end, a queen.

This paper brings together aspects of visuality and fragmentation in Quin’s work, con­centrating on her 1969 novel, Passages, in order to tease out the effects and implications of Quin’s formal fragmentariness. The visuality manifests itself in Passages through Quin’s borrowing of compositional techniques from the visual arts — layering effects from painting, shaping and cutting techniques from sculpture, the whole method of the textual cut-up. Quin splits her narrative in two sections seemingly narrated by each of the main characters, one female and one male. Applying painterly techniques to the former and sculptural to the latter, Quin’s narrative implicitly explores the habitual feminisation or masculinisation of certain aesthetic categories and modes of epistemological enquiry, as well as the unequal power relations of gender politics within a social context. Quin’s textual fragments do on some level cohere into a whole, but it is one riven with uncertainties, provoked specifically by the elliptical nature of the narrative, and complicated by Quin’s blurring of boundaries of all kinds — between characters, between binary categories, between narrative moments and locations. This resistance to categorisation — both on the level of individual fragments or passages of text, and of Quin’s work more generally — invites readers and critics to question the frameworks in which they are trying to place the parts, to challenge the rigidity of the categories themselves.

The aim of the research was to explore the socio-demographic characteristics of patients with schizophrenia with delusional ideas of influence, manifestations of self-destructive behavior, and social dysfunction, who are hospitalized both forcibly and voluntarily. The study involved 155 patients diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. The patients were divided into two groups: the main group of 80 patients and the comparison group of 75 persons. The socio-demographic data obtained for the groups were processed using clinical-psychopathological, psychodiagnostic, and statistical methods. From the analysis it was noted that compulsorily hospitalized patients with schizophrenia showed fairly high levels of violence and victimization. Patients in the compulsorily hospitalized group had a higher severity of manifestations of self-destructive behavior and of delusional ideas of influence with fantastic content. Also, there was a difference in the level of social dysfunction between the two groups. The results will be used in the development of the program of medical and social rehabilitation of the studied contingent of patients. “Magic realism” is a recent literary technique that contains a latent amalgamation of fantastic or mythical elements into an otherwise realistically narrated fiction. The theme and subject of such a literary work are often imaginary, somewhat outlandish and fantastic and always reflect into a dream-like reverie. It further marks the miscellaneous use of myths, legends and fairy tales, and an expressionistic description of an arcane situation leading to the element of surprise or abrupt shock. In literary discourses, the term is primarily associated with the post-modern novel of the Americas. Girish Karnad’s dramatic monologue, Flowers, however, bears all the elements of this literary phenomenon. This short play could also be labeled as a dramatized novel and is a simple tale of a priest caught in an agonized conflict between his devotion to God and his love for a courtesan. However, Karnad’s creative genius turns this conflict into a scintillating portrayal of the sexual urge of a priest interspersed with his feelings of religious devotion and familial duties through the technique of magic realism and, in the process, questions god’s authority in the postmodern world. The play is an attempt by Karnad for the first time in his playwriting career “to focus on male than a female desire.” It presents an interesting picture of the bizarre human world full of magic and its realistic social impressions. The present article attempts to shed some light on this aspect of Karnad through the thematic exploration of the flowers.

Abstract This article examines two 2013 TV miniseries, The Heirs and My Love from the Star, by relating their melodramatic aesthetics to the survivalist imperative under neoliberal governance. From the colonial sinp’a theater to Golden Age films, melodrama has operated as a popular mode of imagination that expresses inarticulate experiences generated over the course of Korea’s modernization. To extend and complicate existing scholarship on modern melodrama, this study approaches recent K-dramas’ melodramatic modes as both an affective response to and an everyday tactic for coping with failing economic democracy in contemporary Korea. In this light, the intensifying fantastic elements of the genre are deemed not so much anachronistic as tactical, as they are deployed to reclaim the justice and equality that are felt to be hopelessly disappearing in daily lives. As I look at their excessive aesthetics within the context of diminishing social mobility in the neoliberal era, my analysis of the two miniseries further notes the gendered structure of these melodramatic fantasies in which the survival of women, who have fewer privileges, is achieved through the reform of male elites.

This article attempts to examine the gradation of the social movement of Indonesian women's education from time to time, starting from the pre-independence era to the Reformation period. A long movement that does not exist in a vacuum arises from recognising women's status to men who have always held an imperial position. This article itself is conducted in a descriptive qualitative technique with a historical thinking approach. The authors found that the imperial position of women is caused by many factors, both religious views that place women lower than men and a gradation in the social movement of education throughout the history of the life of the Indonesian nation, from the pre-independence era to the reformation era. Even the thought of upholding women's rights as equal to men has existed since the pre-independence era, as can be seen from the fantastic Indonesian female figures, not only because of their thoughts and actions that predate their era but also because of their enormous concern. On efforts to emancipate women, such as those carried out by Dewi Sartika or RA. Kartini. This spirit has continued to develop from time to time to produce a social education movement driven by the two most prominent Islamic organisations in Indonesia, namely Muhammadiyah through its female organisation Aisyiyah and NU through the NU Muslimat movement produced many breakthroughs in the social education sector.

It is the resultant and the expression of different projects (projects of economical groups and classes), which meet, clash inside a complex economic and social formation. In another way, to read history goes with the idea the future is to be made, which only results of classes, struggle, social and international power-relations. The method must unite on one side a way of production trends analysis (abstract time), and a social formation evolution (concrete time). It is a way of thinking which obviously can use traditional technics.

Full descriptions and explanations of battle array schemas (zhentu陣圖) first appear in Tang (618-907) and Song (960-1279) military manuals. Their increasingly “fantastic” characteristics during the Northern Song (960-1126) have long been a source of fascination and puzzlement. Although modern day scholars question whether such schemas were used in battle, middle imperial writers considered these schemas important enough to include in military manuals. Battle array schemas functioned not only as military tactic, but also as diagrams. As superimposed ideational maps, they scribed a cultural geography, providing an arena for the resolution of the many social and cultural tensions that characterized this era. Derived from ancient diagrams, array schemas both inspired new cultural and philosophical forms and expressed the possibilities for a transformed society.

Like any other social category, the meaning and conceptual boundary of “religion” is ambiguous and contentious. Historically speaking, its semantics have been transformed in highly complex ways. What is meant by “religion” reflects the specific norms and imperatives of the classifier. This article critically reflects upon the idea of “religion” employed by Karl Marx in the early 1840s. Marx reimagined the encompassing notion of “religion,” which was predominant in his time, by privatizing it in his attempt to critique the theological foundation of the Prussian state. In this process, young Marx’s discourse siphons what is claimed to be “religious” out of the categories of “philosophy,” “science,” and “politics.” In this way, Marx constructs the realm of nonreligion where he associates his own discourse with natural reason, against the reified notion of “religion” as fantastic illusions.

In justifying the cost of the Human Genome Project, supporters predicted fantastic benefits would result from decoding the human genome: cures for fatal diseases, effective treatments for common illnesses burdening individuals and society and a greater understanding of ourselves as human beings. Fear that genetic information will be misused to harm individuals, however, casts a shadow over this glowing portrait of the future of genomic medicine. Over the last decade, these concerns have led approximately twenty-six states to enact genetic nondiscrimination laws. Although no similar law has been passed by Congress, many, including Francis Collins, Director of the National Center for Human Genome Research, have repeatedly endorsed proposed federal legislation aimed at prohibiting health insurers and employers from using predictive genetic information. The result has been growing bipartisan support for The Genetic Nondiscrimination in Health Insurance and Employment Act introduced in February of 2001 by Representative Louise Slaughter in the House and by Senators Kennedy and Daschle in the Senate.

AbstractThis paper investigates Confucian literati’s multilayered recognition of kwisin in the Chosŏn dynasty by focusing on three distinct genres: philosophical writings, ritual writings, and fictionalized writings. Multifaceted concepts of kwisin in these three genres are analyzed through interpretive lenses such as philosophical thought, cultural sensibilities, and literary imagination. In the context of philosophy, Chosŏn literati developed the traditional concept of kwisin as spiritual beings in accordance with the Confucian paradigms. In the context of empirical cultural fields, however, sadaebu collected fantastic stories as contemporary cultural research with the aim of publishing encyclopedic collections. In such works, Chosŏn intelligentsia exhibited a dual position: one criticizing the worship of kwisin by the lower classes, the other recognizing such as a cultural tradition. Although literati criticized fictional stories containing ghosts, they penned their own versions with female apparitions, maintaining their patriarchal Confucian ideology by “otherizing” these ghosts of unclear familial lineage. Fictional narratives in which kwisin appeared fostered communication across ideology, folk knowledge, and experiential sensibility and embraced the metaphysical recognition and everyday sense of kwisin. Gendered kwisin stories played the cultural roles of criticizing and reflecting social paradox and received a wide range of social sympathy, from the elite class to commoners.

With religious or scientific character, the ensemble of myths, beliefs, ideas, ideologies, representations and significances given to this concept led, …in time, to the birth of a rich, distinct and complex symbolic imaginary. Both a physical continuum (space-time in which biological, chemical, physical and mechanical processes occur that cause changes in Nature) and a philosophical one (events are perceived and cognitively systematized by man from the past to present towards future), Time it has always aroused peoples interest. We have deities of Time (Cronus, Zurvan, Maku). We have, also, the characteristic concepts that mark the fictional-mythical transfiguration and the triumph of the irreducible search for the truth of meaning. Such as the promise of a (possible) paradisiacal land of eternity, such as the Aion concept of the ancient Greeks (in the sense of cyclical time/eternity), or the existence of specialized divine beings (Moirs of ancient Greece, Roman Parce or Scandinavian Norns) who measure the profane time (past, present, future), and relates it to the celestial, relativistic, perpetual-eternal time. From the area of pure philosophy who approache the subject, inevitably passing through the field of quantum physics that tries to define as precisely as possible the notion of Time (definition, dimensions, units of measurement etc.), we have approaches to this concept at the level of music, literature, art. An true illud tempus, moving the content from metaphysics to myth, and viceversa, there are the many reflections of famous people about the concept of time. Approaching topics about the existence of ,,fashionable” references (billionaires, famous or just controversial politicians, footballers, actors, etc.), we have a post-modern mythological imaginary offered daily by Time Magazine, The New York Times, The Sunday Times etc. As well, being an important landmark in the editing policy, we have a font agreed by more and more magazines, periodicals, publishing houses - Times New Roman. The social life of the traditional Romanian communities, who generates and consumes fantastic fairy tales, tried to reconcile the human activities with the constant phenomena of the environment (terrestrial, cosmic). Starting from certain constants that counted human activity with the cosmic and terrestrial rhythms of Nature (day-night succession; the succession of seasons; the rhythmicity of some manifestations of the vegetal and animal kingdom), the calendars had appeared lunar, solar, solar-lunar, popular, Christian, civil). Their existence and use made that the passage of time to be more easily perceived and memorized. The calendar practices and habits, performed in a predetermined time and in a certain way (= ritual), did nothing but mark in the traditional symbolic thinking the specificity of that human time, to perform in that tradition, in Cosmic Time, trans-human time. This study deal with the valorizations and symbolism given to this concept by the popular imagination from Romanian fantastic fairy tale. The collections of fairy tales offered me some major directions that defines Time, sometimes the traditional imagination being a subtle game of physical constants and mythical-epic variations. Thus, I discovered metaphysical dimensions of time, the reason for linking Time, an optimal time of action, but also the exercise of distance (Time-Space) to be traveled by the hero or realms of eternity, where Time does not even exist as an abstraction… Everything followed, naturally, by a series of conclusions. Abstract:
The paper focuses on the analyses of the interiorization phenomena in the fantastic (utopian and dystopian) tales by Faddey Bulgarin that he wrote and published between 1825 and 1846. The tales came out in such periodicals as Severnyy archiv, Literturnye zapiski, Syn otechestva. The study of the texts allows to assume that Rus-sian mass literature born within magazine prose was characterized by the interiorization of plots. The latter led to the formation of an adaptive hab-itus entirely assimilated by the Russian cultural and social discourses around the 1830–1840s. The study of the texts by Bulgarin (which in terms of genre can be identified either as journal manifestos or literary works of different genres) indicates his conscious orientation on the reader, the intended involvement of the reader into the literary and would-be-literary life of an artistic word. On the one hand, that could be the echo of the tradition established by the Enlighteners who educated the reader via literary words, thus shaping his or her ethics and esthetics. On the other hand, that could be the reflection of the interiorization phenomenon that is the structural transposition of a text (text structure) into the internal structure of the reader’s mind. We suggest that the interiorization phenomenon and the shaping of the mass literature are interconnected; the adaptive habitus born in the magazine prose in the mid-1820s – the early 1840s determined the energy of mind and the peculiarities of thinking of the mass reader. Despite almost no narrator addressing the reader in the fantastic tales, the reader finds him- or herself indirectly present throughout the texts as an addressee of the interiorization. The discursive strategy adopted by Bulgarin consists of the transformation of the reader’s mind patterns into the adaptive habitus of mass literature.

This study aims to measure the influence of Social Media (Instagram) in improving Brand Awareness Coffee Memories. Primary data collected using a questionnaire distributed to one hundred respondents who actively use social media (Instagram) on the coffee copy account. Data analysis using SPSS Ver. 23.0. This research consisted of 20 statements. Based on the results of the study, it is known that there is a significant positive impact on social media (Instagram) in increasing Brand Awareness. Of the two variables used in doing this research.Pertumbuhan teknologi memunculkan berbagai pemakaian bahasa yang mengikuti media apa yang dipakai. Teknologi informasi muncul dan terjadinya tahap baru susunan dunia dalam berkembangnya keterangan informasi. Terlebih jika media massa dapat dengan mudah mengendalikan khalayak yang menghasilkan pandangan terhadap peristiwa yang kemudian akan berlangsung. Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk mengukur pengaruh Media Sosial (instagram) dalam meningkatkan Brand Awareness Kopi Kenangan . Data primer yang terkumpul menggunakan kuesioner yang disebarkan kepada seratus responden yang aktif menggunakan media sosial (Instagram) terhadap akun kopi kenangan. Fantastic and science-fictional narratives employ specific modes of representation. In both genres, figurative language can be used in a literal sense, so that symbols acquire a concrete representation in the text. The aim of this article is to examine how a specific image, the giant Leviathan as a metaphor for the aggregation of individuals in order to form the social body, is explored in two genre narratives. In the science fiction novel New Model Army, by Adam Roberts, the image of Thomas Hobbes’ Leviathan is used to suggest the notion of a radical democracy in which all members of the community have an organic participation in the social body. In the graphic narrative The Unwritten, by Mike Carey, Peter Gross and Vince Locke, Hobbes’ Leviathan is explored in conjunction with Melville’s Moby-Dick in order to investigate the nature of symbolic representation and the relation between culture and objective reality. Transportation in big cities has phenomenal progressrecenly, with growths in automotive vehicles number over the infrastructure and roads length. Jakarta as the bigest cityand the capital of Indonesia has stronger economics, wider areas, more automotive vehicles number, and its populations. Data in the survey, literatures, and analysis over three years in Jakarta, has shown fantastic changes of automotive vehicles number growth composition. Two wheels automotive vehicles growth and number are in the top rank from other categories. Survey of Jakarta has shown economics growth that has increased prosperity of some population group, caused to automotive ownership taxes increase. In the contrary it has also negative effects in inefficiency and national social cost caused from traffic problem. It is suggested that options possibility to overcome from traffic or transportation problem in Jakarta, especially related to traffic management or automotive vehicle ownership management.

AbstractIn the light of the material turn in the Humanities some aspects of Julio Cortázar’s (1914–1984) work become very evident today as a laboratory of the future. For Cortázar, reading was a transforming impulse, part of a process of liberation from mental ties to which he contributed as an author, challenging the barrier between the fantastic and the real, the limit between the human and the animal, between the living and the inert. Thus, as a critic on blind Modernity, Cortázar, from his stories, questions anthropocentrism in a gesture that in the current crisis of the Anthropocene could not be more topical. Moreover, while he supported the transformation of people’s material conditions of life in Latin America, he innovated and celebrated literature in intermedial texts that are the decanted result of a creative performance, embedded in the strongly transcultural context of a diaspora that was first voluntary and then became exile.

Even though the country has done a fantastic job of eradicating poverty, some significant challenges and concerns come as a result of globalisation. The following are important concerns that must be solved as the country enters a new category of poverty. Malaysia is an impendence country which variety population segmentation based on ethnicity as well as religion. In actuality, it has the potential to aggravate social issues, particularly in Malaysia. Indeed, Malaysia has adopted many social programmes including economic and social investment. However, poor people in rural and urban areas since poverty has long been seen to be a rural issue with more than half of all family units falling into this category in Malaysia. Besides, there is a lack of awareness of the causes and sources of poverty as well as a strategy for dealing with the issue. In addition, there is currently a scarcity of research on the influence of anti-poverty initiatives on community welfare in the Malaysian context. Hence, low-income people's goals regarding the Malaysian government's incentive or programme to improve their income are conceptualised in this paper by concern the Theory of Planned Behaviour with four variables namely attitude, subjective norms, perceived behavioural control, and entrepreneurial competencies.
