Abstract:
This study investigates the phenomenon of "Meme Marketing" and its impact on the consumer behavior of Generation Z on social media. The research focuses on the characteristics, classification, coherence levels, and format evolution of memes, as well as their role in marketing strategies. Meme characteristics, such as fidelity, fecundity, longevity, and additional elements like relevance, ease of replication, uniqueness, and humor, are identified as key influencers on meme dissemination. Meme classification involves four types proposed by Knobel and Lankshear, along with considerations of genre, format, and media, providing an overview of meme diversity. The transformation of meme formats, from single images to GIF videos, reflects adaptation to trends and social media technology. The role of memes in marketing strategies goes beyond brand awareness, becoming a source of innovation in the cultural industry. Humor, as a key element, plays a crucial role in attracting attention and creating appeal for consumers. Meme virality factors, such as relevance, iconicity, humor, and format, require effective embedding and distribution strategies. In the context of Generation Z consumer behavior, memes provide satisfaction in entertainment, social interaction, and information. Media factors, including embedding and distribution strategies, are crucial for the successful dissemination of memes and consumer engagement. Applying marketing theory frameworks, this research offers both theoretical and practical implications for the development of effective marketing strategies in the digital era

Abstract:
The presence of social media makes the process of social interaction experience very significant changes. Communication through social media is a very important social interaction in human life. Along with the increasing use of social media, it has spawned new phenomena among social media users, one of which is creativity in making memes. Memes can be in the form of text or images that contain issues and events in a style that intrigues and are widely discussed because they spread and comment so quickly on social media. The purpose of this study was to describe the signifier and signified in the Covid-19 meme and explain the meaning contained in the Covid-19 meme. The Covid-19 meme itself is one of the memes found on social media. The approach used in this research was a qualitative approach which produces descriptive analysis. The researcher seeked the facts behind the creation of the Covid-19 meme circulating on social media. The signifiers found in the Covid-19 meme include snippets of famous movie and game scenes. The insinuations in the sentences are also reality. The sentences provide a statement that contains information and expression of the feelings of the creator as a fighter in the pandemic season.

Abstract:
The article deals with the specifics of Internet memes, which allow them to act as a tool of social thinking. Starting from the idea of A.A. Dydrov that Internet memes are able to represent dystopias, the author, firstly, considers the suitability of meme content to reflect the complex content of dystopias formed as mac-ro-narratives of the culture of printed books and cinema, and secondly, assesses the possi-bilities of critical social reflection in the pro-cess of diffusion of Internet memes, correct-ing its form. The social cognitiveness of a meme, understood as the ability to form collective assessments of social events, can be enhanced by its elasticity, a flexible combination of the constituent elements of its media text, referring through various rhetorical techniques to the voluminous content exter-nal to the meme. The processes of diffusion of popular Internet memes, including sleep and the awakening of “sleeping beauties”, provide time for its reassembly through references to global and local contexts, increasing its critical potential. The diversity of social media con-texts and the distribution of reassembly by translators and modifiers lead to a clarification of the content of dystopian memes. Thus, meme content can be considered as a process of collective thinking about society, working out the understanding of the routine of new technologies in the semiotic codes of dystopias.

Abstract:
Meme, as part of visual communication, is happening during Jakarta's governor elections in 2017. The existence of the meme is not detached from the creativity of meme creators on social media. The research aims to reveal the characteristics of meme creators based on the type of meme and uncover the construction of meanings from the meme creator's viewpoints on Jakarta's governor election. This research used a qualitative method with a virtual ethnographic approach. Virtual ethnography is used to view visual phenomena or user culture in cyberspace. Data were collected in the form of meme posts, and user comments on the posts in Instagram accounts, interviews, and literature studies. The meme was analyzed using Van Dijk's critical discourse analysis focused on the social cognition section to observe the meaning of construction performed by the meme creator. The results showed that there are three characteristics of meme creators. Firstly, the meme creators who promote the candidate and counter the negative issue of the opposing party about the supported candidate. Secondly, they who provide the awareness of the community to be more critical and not easily deceived by negative symbols and issues. Thirdly, the chaotic creators who do not have a precise orientation in creating memes and upload memes just for jokes on social media.

Abstract:
In addition to describing drug abuse which was disseminated through meme symbols, this study also explained the meaning behind the emergence of drug meme symbols on Instagram. This study was a qualitative descriptive type using the netnography method. The data collection was carried out by analyzing 108 thousand meme symbols that were disseminated on the Instagram social media platform, using the hashtag search keyword #narkoba. The analysis was focused on themes, symbols, and languages used in the meme symbols. From these analysis, three most dominant classifications of meme symbol themes were selected and presented as findings in this study. This study utilized thematic analysis by emphasizing the development of themes or topics through drug meme symbols inductively, to reveal the meaning behind the drug meme symbols. The findings in this study indicated that drug abuse was widely disseminated through three meme symbols, namely latent dangers of drugs, law enforcement memes, social environment memes. In line with that, the use of the three meme symbol themes also referred to three critical, evaluative, and ideological meanings that became important findings in this study

Abstract:
The paper discusses the place of Internet memes in the structure of the social mythology of the digital world. The authors understand the Internet meme as a communication phenomenon. They characterize it as an online miniformat genre. An Internet meme integrates an image with an ironic text caption for a concise assessment of a situation, state or phenom-enon and visualization of reality. The myth is em-bedded in the semantic structure of the meme, which spreads it to large audiences. In the post-truth era, Internet memes are not only retransmitters of myths, but also actively create a new social my-thology, allowing network users to interpret reality in accordance with their worldview, laid down by mass culture. As a result, the myth becomes a fake, and the Internet meme becomes an effective way of spreading it. Analyzed memes “Karl!” and “The Wrong Guy” as examples of modifying archaic myths and constructing a new social mythology, as well as memes “Ivan the Terrible kills”, “Peter I and Shrek”, “Lenin is a mushroom” as confirmation of the thesis about the transformation of political and historical myths into a fake form.

Abstract:
This paper analyzes an emerging form of social media marketing, meme marketing, which has gained attention for its ability to entertain and engage users. Marketers and companies are recognizing the value of using memes as a tool to connect with consumers. To understand the effects of meme marketing activities, this paper aims to examine the impact of meme marketing activities on consumer purchase intentions and concurrently assess the mediating role of consumer engagement. The study encompassed 452 Indian social media users with active social media accounts and familiarity with memes and meme marketing concepts. It employed a quantitative methodology backed by robust statistical techniques. The method used for analysis was Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) through Analysis of Moment Structures (AMOS) software. The results found that meme marketing activities have a direct and significant positive impact (β = 0.257, p < 0.05) on consumer purchase intentions. It further shows that meme marketing has a direct and significant positive impact (β = 0.745, p < 0.05) on consumer engagement. It shows that consumer engagement has a direct and significant positive effect (β = 0.651, p < 0.05) on consumer purchase intention. However, the indirect impact of meme marketing activities on consumer purchase intentions is also significant, resulting in partial mediation. The study findings hold value for marketing managers, agencies, and companies that interact and engage consumers with memes and undertake meme marketing activities.

Abstract:
The present study considers memes as socio-cultural phenomena which is complex and multi-level. The authors single out research prospects for studying memes with the methods applied in socio-logical research. Even though a variety of disciplines studies memes, sociology analyzes memes from the perspective of social stratification, “us” and “them” dichotomy, allowing researchers to observe memet-ics as both socio-cultural and quasi-political reality. Internet meme is shown as the most dynamic and representative phenomenon in memetics. Social media provide a context for Internet meme that re-flect values of any modern society. The methods applied in meme research presupposes a synthesis of interdisciplinary approaches and separate proce-dures including, firstly, multimodal analysis, content analysis and discursive studies. Event analysis is a subtype of content analysis. In the case of memes interpretation due to this method a researcher can observe the dynamics of social and political events, define social and cultural continuum markers as well as values of modern society.

Abstract:
Corporations attempting to enter the realm of memetic media often find themselves lost and embarrassed; the chaotic nature of meme culture as a global way of expression on the internet has proven difficult, and communities like Reddits r/FellowKids enact vernacular criticism on corporations who attempt to use memes in order to reach their target audience. This study aims to reach higher knowledge of successful corporate engagement in memetic media through a text analysis of discussions between users on Reddit and the interplay on Twitter where users engage in vernacular ways with the Wendy’s Twitter account. Drawing on branding theory and Goffman’s dramaturgical model, the study draws conclusions on how users of a vernacular community engages the Wendy’s Twitter account in different ways. It shows how an authentic identity is ascribed to the corporation through vernacular means, and how the prevalence of vernacular play forces the corporation to surrender message control in order to gain authenticity. It further suggests that an authentic corporate identity in vernacular communities requires the corporation not to act like one; preferring fast, playful communication rather than slow, institutional responses. Implying that the correct plan of action is not to have one, the study further understands the paradox of crafting a marketing strategy not based on controlled communication, and suggests further research into vernacular communities and citizen creative control in memetic media.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Social media content, as well as how it is being used and the impact it has on the society, have underwent significant transformations and nowadays they are quite different from what they were when social media just came around. Analysing the transformations is important for understanding both the current state and further development of the technology that stands behind social media. One of the most noticeable aspects of today’s social media is the phenomenon of “internet memes”. An internet meme can be roughly defined as “a piece of culture, typically a joke, which gains influence through online transmission” (Davison, 2012). While memes play a substantial role in the use of social media and there has been growing interest in exploiting their potential for marketing and, more generally, conveying various types of messages, there has been a lack of HCI (Human Computer Interaction) research on memes. The understanding of how memes are perceived by social media users and how memes spread on social media is currently rather limited. The study reported in this thesis addresses the limitation of existing HCI research by presenting empirical evidence for the definition of memes, as well as memes' spreadability. Three online surveys (the total number of respondents:3161), targeting the users of the social media platforms Reddit and Facebook, were developed within the study. The social media platform Reddit was selected because it is a platform where memes are often created and also where they are moved to other platforms, like YouTube and Instagram. The study adopted a mixed method approach, combining the analysis of both quantitative and qualitative data. It is shown that memes are shared because they are found funny and that they are shared within the community or with friends. But if a meme spreads and becomes popular outside this original community, the meme loses its value to the original users. Some contents, like character memes, are much easier to spread, but just as soon as they become popular, they disappear.

Abstract:
Drawing upon the opportunity that the Internet and social media provides anyone with internet access to create, consume, publish and produce digital content, this study aims to examine one of the new means of communication. In today’s digital society creating content and communicating across boarders is easier than ever, but actually getting the point across is not – with an evergrowing number of posts, users and sites there is a struggle close the gap between posting a message and actually having it noticed. This study examines memes – normally seen as easily understood jokes – as means of accessible and simplistic communication by qualitatively examining fifteen feminist memes on Twitter. The study aims to see what the memes are conveying in means of social criticism and feminist orientations, their relation to the online feminist discourses and, lastly, explore the memes’ potential role in the political sphere. The theoretical framework firstly explains memes in relation to Henry Jenkins’ participatory culture, Lawrence Lessig’s remix culture and relates memes to the political sphere based on both Limor Shifman’s meme theory and the two theories mentioned above. Secondly, first-, second- and third-wave feminism is introduced along with radical feminism and the feminist concept of sisterhood. Lastly, the social constructivism sets the groundwork for the study’s choice of method; critical discourse analysis. The critical discourse analysis is used in a modified version along with the ‘verbal-visual unity’; a method designed to take the memes structure – the combination of text and images – into account. These methods are used to identify themes, connotations, modality, interdiscursivity, social criticism and the feminist orientation of the memes. The result reveals that there are four main points of social criticism emphasized in the memes; regarding body norms, regarding belittling of women’s opinions and actions, regarding patriarchal structures and regarding men in general. The main feminist orientation visible in more than half the memes is radical feminism, while second-wave feminism is visible in a third. Meanwhile, the memes’ relation to the feminist discourses varies; smaller discourses have low levels of interdiscoursivity, while the main discourse for online feminism show high levels. The study shows that memes’ – potential – roles in the political sphere are as means of spreading opinion, as ways of constituting new norms in a new reality, and as means of shifting the structures of power in society.

Abstract:
<p> Those rejecting the official accounts of significant suspicious and impactful events are often labeled conspiracy theorists and the alternative explanations they propose are often referred to as conspiracy theories. These labels are often used to dismiss the beliefs of those individuals who question potentially hegemonic control of what people believe. The conspiracy theory concept functions as an impediment to legitimate discursive examination of conspiracy suspicions. The effect of the label appears to constrain even the most respected thinkers. This impediment is particularly problematic in academia, where thorough, objective analysis of information is critical to uncovering truth, and where members of the academy are typically considered among the most important of epistemic authorities. This dissertation tracked the development and use of such terms as pejoratives used to shut down critical thinking, analysis, and challenges to authority. This was accomplished using critical discourse analysis as a research methodology. Evidence suggesting government agents were instrumental in creating the pejorative meme conspiracy theorist was found in contemporary media. Tracing the evolution of the conspiracy theory meme and its use as a pejorative silencer may heighten awareness of its use in this manner and diminish its impact. </p>

Abstract:
EMS personnel tend to face higher burnout rates than those in similar professions, which makes them more likely to make mistakes, engage in safety-compromising behaviors, and get injured. This project examines humor used in the form of Internet memes as a coping mechanism. Internet memes are modifiable, replicable units of cultural transmission that are passed and gain influence through the Internet. I applied the Maslach Burnout Inventory to EMS related memes on the website Reddit. I found that memes that dealt with burnout typically referenced non-traumatic factors as being the source of burnout, and that these memes would often lead to conversations that allowed EMS personnel to share their experiences with one another. I concluded that internet memes can provide a way for EMS personnel to express their feelings anonymously and through a façade of humor, and can also let other people who may be going through similar experiences know that they are not alone.

Abstract:
This study investigated whether the conception present in the Replicators Theory, expressed through the concept of meme (DAWKINS, 1979), could be a compatible model to be transducted and feasible to explain the propagation of memes in the substratum of social media. In the scope of local studies, Recuero (2006) suggested a model for such transduction. Reflecting on Recueros epistemological positioning, the present Linguistics-oriented research (HALLIDAY, 1987) examined the authors (2006) transduction through two investigative steps: Conceptual and Compositional Analysis, respectively. Those two investigative steps followed the conceptions presented by Dennett (1995), Blackmore (2002), and Tyler (2011b; 2013b). By departing from the concept of memeplex (BLACKMORE, 2002), this work understands memes, in the substratum of digital/social media, as practices of production and distribution through language and media. Moving to a third investigative step Relational Analysis this study investigated the relations and connexions created by internet users whilst they spread memetic phenomena through several unities of propagation, i.e.: the local phenomenas memetic expressions (from #Tenso and Que deselegante), and the memetic images (from Nana em desastres). This research used two corpora of memetic expressions (5275 posts coming from or forwarded to Twitter.com 83,655 tokens), and one bilingual corpus (Portuguese/English) of memetic images (a total of 134 images coming from Tumblr.com and Facebook.com). To analyse the corpora of memetic expressions this investigation used the methodology of Corpus Linguistics (BERBER-SARDINHA, 2004; SHEPHERD, 2009; SOUZA JÚNIOR, 2012, 2013b, 2013c). To examine the multimodal corpus of memetic images this study suggested a methodology called Propagatory Analysis. The aim of this research was to investigate if those units of propagation and the linguistic/media practices they transmit, evolved only via memetic/media aspects, and presenting an internalist pattern of propagation (DAWKINS, 1979; 1982), as Recuero (2006) argued. The findings of the present study suggested that, at the purpose level, the local phenomena investigated didnt evolve through an internalist (or homogeneous) pattern of propagation. Those patterns were of externalist (heterogeneous) nature. Furthermore, the memetic constitutive principles of evolution such as fecundity, longevity (DAWKINS, 1979; 1982), along with the media constitutive principle of reach (RECUERO, 2006) have been highly influential over propagations of externalist pattern. Conversely, the memetic constitutive principle of fidelity (DAWKINS, 1979; 1982) was the least influential in such externalist patterns of propagation. Fidelity was undermined by two linguistic constitutive principles that emerged, empowered by the principle of design (DENNETT, 1995). Firstly, appeared the linguistic constitutive principle of functionality (memes evolve because they can express different purposes), followed by the principle of linguistic reach (memes can address animate/inanimate items; and Internet users in their native or foreign languages)

Abstract:
AbstractTo further consider the ways Touch both enables and constrains bodies and ways of being, this chapter examines Touch as including forms of both intimacy and violence. Extending from the implicit understandings of selfies and memes as Touch (Chap. 10.1007/978-3-030-94316-5_2) and the initial mapping of Touch (Chap. 10.1007/978-3-030-94316-5_3), the PrettyGirlsUglyFaces meme (and the selfies that make up the meme) is used as an example to consider selfies and memes as intimacy and violence. Then, drawing on the fundamentals of Touch (Chap. 10.1007/978-3-030-94316-5_3), I begin to plot a map of Touch, identifying how the example meme and selfies act as intimate connections that are positioned in a culture of violence. Central to this chapter is the identification of the joke’s importance to the positioning of visual conversations in social networks. As a form of Touch, the joke is identified as both enabling and constraining intimacy and violence. Examining memes and selfies as practices of connectivity and symbolic violence further recognises Touch for the ways it culturally both enables and constrains bodies and identifications.

Abstract:
AbstractWith advances in technology affordances, contents generated by individual tourists in the tourism context has become an influential source of tourism information besides contents channeled by traditional mass media such as newspapers and broadcasts. Specifically, Meme Tourism (i.e., meme phenomenon in tourism) becomes one of the biggest trends in imitating and transforming/evolving tourism contents online, which is a byproduct of participatory culture that use text and visual images as means of user-generated communications in online communities through the exchange, distribution, and transactions. Understanding the emerging phenomena of meme in tourism would provide insights on tourists’ desires and behaviors in modern traveling. This study conceptualizes three major perspectives in tourism; 1) media-induced tourism, 2) user-generated content, and 3) social media activities, reflecting meme phenomena in tourism. Given the foundation provided, this study calls for a new stream of study in tourism that examines desire, motivation, and behavior of tourists in technology-enabled modern travel culture.

Abstract:
Memes have become a prevalent part of digital culture, transcending their origins as simple internet jokes to become powerful tools for communication, social commentary, and even education. Their social and cultural use is diverse, serving as a universal language for expressing complex ideas, fostering community, and providing a platform for social critique. Studies such as Tidy et al. (2024) and Brown (2020) have highlighted the educational potential of memes in STEM fields, demonstrating their effectiveness in simplifying complex concepts and engaging students. Platforms for meme creation have the potential to develop an environment that boosts the meme-making process.Existing platforms (i.e. imgflip.com, an online free memes generator) rely entirely on user input and do very little to guide the users in memes creation. Traditional user interfaces of memes generators are simple and easy to operate, but no contextual authoring support, which may limit the creative potential and content construction. Thus, we hypothesize that AI can expedite the creative process by presenting relevant meme templates, and generating suggested captions, acting as a “creative collaborator” for users. In this work, we explore utilizing OpenAI’s GPT-3.5 to facilitate the creation of educational and engaging memes, leveraging its ability to generate humorous and informative content. To evaluate the effectiveness of our approach, we conducted a comparative case study with Imgflip’s free online meme generator. Participants created waste management related memes using both tools, and we assessed their productivity, creativity, and satisfaction. Qualitative feedback revealed the AI tool's LLM capabilities, hints, and instructions as key drivers of its enhanced performance. These findings highlight the potential of AI to revolutionize meme creation and inform the development of future user interfaces that leverage AI to enhance creativity, engagement, and educational impact.

Abstract:
Recent studies have proposed models that yielded promising performance for the hateful meme classification task. Nevertheless, these proposed models do not generate interpretable explanations that uncover the underlying meaning and support the classification output. A major reason for the lack of explainable hateful meme methods is the absence of a hateful meme dataset that contains ground truth explanations for benchmarking or training. Intuitively, having such explanations can educate and assist content moderators in interpreting and removing flagged hateful memes. This paper address this research gap by introducing Hateful meme with Reasons Dataset (HatReD), which is a new multimodal hateful meme dataset annotated with the underlying hateful contextual reasons. We also define a new conditional generation task that aims to automatically generate underlying reasons to explain hateful memes and establish the baseline performance of state-of-the-art pre-trained language models on this task. We further demonstrate the usefulness of HatReD by analyzing the challenges of the new conditional generation task in explaining memes in seen and unseen domains. The dataset and benchmark models are made available here: https://github.com/Social-AI-Studio/HatRed

Abstract:

Rickels, Wilfried, Wolfgang Koeve, Felix Meier, Marius Paschen, Christian Rischer, and Ignacio Saldivia. Report on appropriateness of accounting schemes to assign carbon credits to ocean NETs. OceanNets, 2023. http://dx.doi.org/10.3289/oceannets_d1.2.

Full text
Abstract:
Carbon accounting is essential for quantifying carbon removal and determining required offsets. The valuation goes beyond mere measurement, taking into account factors such as temporary storage and the social cost of carbon (SCC). These valuations inform the issuance of carbon offsets, but governance frameworks also play a role in their issuance. For ocean-based carbon removal methods, such as ocean iron fertilization and blue carbon projects, cost-benefit accounting supported by SCC assessments is appropriate. Challenges arise for integration compliance systems such as the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS). To align compliance systems with carbon accounting, an intermediary institution could facilitate the purchase and resale of international offsets while managing non-permanent storage liabilities. Ocean alkalinity enhancement, among ocean-based CDR methods, may fit into net accounting if monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) challenges are addressed. A proposed MRV approach based on the regulation of nonpoint source pollution can address these concerns.

Abstract:
Due to the unique opportunities provided by its digital economy, Southeast Asia is a major arena of market expansion for US-based and Chinese tech juggernauts today. For now, the presence and strategy of the two nation’s companies in the ASEAN region has been driven by market considerations. At the same time, social media platforms and mobile operation systems can serve as sources of soft power, which means that Big Tech and ASEAN start-ups could drift into the US-China conflict in the future. In the Southeast Asian market, US tech giants do not have to worry about being crowded out by their Chinese counterparts in the short run; at the same time, China’s growing economic influence in the region undoubtedly boosts the technology investments of its companies. It is a core interest of ASEAN nations to avoid taking a side in the US-China tech rivalry and thereby escape the role of being a mere data source for some global digital platforms or US-based and Chinese tech companies.

Abstract:
Rigorous qualitative research in behavioral science guides the understanding of the intricacies of human behavior, motivations, and experiences. It transcends mere observation, and delves into the depths of individual experiences and socio-cultural nuances. Through replicable research design, transparent data collection processes, and systematic analysis, rigorous qualitative research endeavors to unearth rich insights that quantitative and experimental approaches alone cannot capture. It offers a profound understanding of our world, contributing to the advancement of theory and practice within behavioral science. When applied in behavioral science, qualitative research provides a meaningful richness of insights, an approach we call qualitative behavioral science. Qualitative behavioral science synthesizes the long and deep traditions of qualitative research with the specific insights and goals of applied behavioral science: to understand and make meaningful, measurable changes in people’s lives.

Rudyk, Myroslava. BLOGGING PLATFORMS AS ARENAS FOR THE MEDIA ACTIVITIES OF CITIZEN JOURNALISTS. Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, 2024. http://dx.doi.org/10.30970/vjo.2024.54-55.12164.

Full text
Abstract:
The article is dedicated to the investigation of blogging platforms as information and communication arenas during wartime. It analyzes the media activities of citizen journalists as a crucial component of the overall information landscape in Ukraine, outlining the peculiarities of their work, the specifics of information dissemination, and the prospects for the development of citizen journalism as a whole. The advantages and disadvantages of citizen journalism are highlighted. Journalism is one of the most dynamic spheres of our existence, and the information space in Ukraine has undergone significant changes since the full-scale war. The development of technological tools always transforms journalism, elevating it to new levels of possibilities. The use of modern blogging platforms, widely accessible not only to professional journalists but also to activists, has contributed to powerful changes in the information sector. Citizen journalism during the Russo-Ukrainian war has taken on entirely different dimensions than before, prompting new reflections on the role of citizen journalists. This expands the scope of the researched issue, from ethical considerations and adherence to journalistic standards to understanding the safety of information activities for both journalists and humanity as a whole. Not every blogger can be called a citizen journalist. The crucial characteristic of citizen journalism, as opposed to mere blogging, is self-awareness, active social action, dedication to an idea, drawing attention to a problem, lobbying for public interests, and serving the function of public control. In the article were examined the activities of citizen journalists, who meet professional standards and exemplify citizen journalism. These include Ihor Lachenkov, Serhiy Sternenko, and Kostyantyn Liberov. Their blogging platforms and social networks were analysed, their content characterised, and posting frequency assessed. The activities of citizen journalists become most in-demand when media representatives cannot capture an event promptly at a particular moment. Citizen journalists find it easier to disseminate information through blogging platforms and social media, especially considering the tremendous trust these platforms enjoy. Survey results illustrate the colossal trust in these platforms. When asked, «What mass media tools did citizens use to get news in 2022?» the responses were as follows: 1. Social networks – 74%, 2. News websites – 42%, 3. Television – 36%, Radio – 11%, Print media – 3%. We observe a trend in the Ukrainian information space where some bloggers position themselves as citizen journalists, even though they previously did not have such a pronounced civic position. This trend became particularly evident at the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine when influencers started using their blogs to inform their audience about the events in Ukraine, mobilizing them for active volunteer actions and resisting enemy challenges. Keywords: citizen journalism, information dissemination, blogging platforms, war.

Schmidt, Lene Skytthe Kaarsberg. "Familiepædagogen" - som trivsels- og forebyggelsesaktør. Professionshøjskolen Absalon, 2024. http://dx.doi.org/10.62528/valu2077.

Full text
