This study has been conducted with Sirius International as a case company. The investigation has revolved around the weaknesses Sirius, along with the authors, have identified concerning the international collaboration and communication. If the network is connected and satisfies other mild assumptions, the society will reach a consensus. Therefore, it is a matter of interest understanding when the network would be connected or not. Here, we develop a model where the network takes place endogenously, and agents update their opinions accordingly. We study general conditions on the initial distribution of opinions such that consensus will be reached. W

Abstract:
Interpersonal communication with network infrastructure creates mobile and online social networks, which shorten the distance among people. It naturally leads to an important question asking for a clear and detailed description of information dissemination and diffusion process in social networks. An in-depth understanding of the question may help in various aspects,e.g., designing better communication protocols and predicting the demand of hot contents. In the thesis we focus on two concrete sub-questions. The first one is to describe the performance of mobile social networks under the pr

Mobile social applications have emerged in recent years. They explore social connections among mobile users in a variety of novel scenarios, including friend finding, message routing, and content sharing. However, efficiently supporting resource-demanding delay-sensitive streaming applications on the mobile platform remains a significant challenge. Research on such topics will naturally widen the usage of mobile social applications. The solutions to the challenges will provide suggestion on many related work. It is interesting and valuable to explore the system performance and users’ e

I denne masteroppgaven implementeres og testes to algoritmer for å finne gruppe- struktur i nettverk, nemlig Louvain-metoden og Diffusion and Propagation-metoden. Abstract:
Opinion dynamics in a society of interacting agents may lead to consensus or to the coexistence of different opinions. The interplay between social network change and opinion formation is complex, because the agents, their social interactions and the changing social structure over time, are themselves complex. DeGroot proposed a prescriptive model for achieving consensus, where agents revise their opinions at each time step by taking a weighted average of the opinions of neighbours. This thesis contains three main contributions. First, we introduce a generalisation of the DeGroot model and exa

Fake news is particularly virulent in social networks, where the absence of lters helps itspread quickly. Despite the eorts put forward by the main social network companies, misinformationis still a rampant problem online. One way to limit its diusion is to expose usersto fact-checking content that debunks trending fake news stories with the hope that this willprevent them from sharing misinformation further. This intervention can be carried out by selectinga seed set of users to be exposed to this so-called mitigating content. In order to identifythe best users to select for mitigation purpos

The first paper develops a model for a new kind of data, "path data," that represents the sequential decisions made by actors navigating social, geographic, and other kinds of networks. The model is validated in a benchmark test, then used to measure sectarian influences in the ways
