Abstract:
The aim of the presented paper is to analyze the approaches to the non-pharmaceutical rehabilitation of the drug addicts based on the example of the Social and Rehabilitative Centre «Roza Vetrov» of the municipal pedagogic institution «Podrostok». The following rehabilitative approaches were used: (1) labor and environmental rehabilitation; (2) group and family psychotherapy; (3) different trainings; (4) supported employment and workplace accommodation. Destigmatization is an obligatory psychotherapeutical procedure starting the rehabilitation. Rehabilitative environment is a special micro social group with adjusted behavior. Trainings are a complex of psycho corrective procedures with different targets. Adaptive psychotherapy is the necessary part of the rehabilitation and bringing the patients back to the micro social group they are used to be a member of. Family psychotherapy is performed by discussing the problems of co-abuse, possible options of manipulative behavior in drug addicts and their families. At the stage of workplace accommodation and professional orientation behavior modes are formed, necessary for successful entry into the professional labor.

Abstract:
The article defines the main vector of the direction in professional training of future social workers. Definitions of the concepts of social rehabilitation and rehabilitation process are considered. The main aspects of social rehabilitation are disclosed. Based on the analysis of psychological, sociological, complex models of social and socially pedagogical work, models of social rehabilitation are identified: psychological, psychodynamic, behavioral, cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, existential, sociological. The most common approaches to the implementation of sociological models of rehabilitation for social work are analyzed: systemic, ecological, role-playing and radical. The general theoretical foundations of social rehabilitation are described as a component of social and pedagogical activity, their common goals are defined, namely, the preservation and support of the individual, the group in a state of active, creative, independent attitude towards itself, its life and activity. The peculiarities of the organization of social rehabilitation are outlined and the main characteristics of this process are determined. Firstly, this is a gradual solution of problems aimed at restoring the social status of an individual, forming resistance to traumatic situations, forming a person capable of successfully integrating into society. Secondly, social rehabilitation as an end result should be aimed at achieving the ultimate goal, when a person, after undergoing comprehensive rehabilitation, becomes immersed in the socio-economic life of society and feels integrated. Thirdly, social rehabilitation acts in the form of social technology, i.e. a certain way of implementing rehabilitation activities as a result of identifying individual operations placed in a certain relationship and sequence, choosing the most effective methods of influencing the client.

Abstract:
The academic field and the professional practice of rehabilitation counseling focuses on one aspect of social justice, assisting individuals with disabilities to attain full community inclusion. Nonetheless, social justice focuses on many marginalized groups and in the related fields of counseling and psychology, those with disabilities are rarely considered to be a group experiencing social injustice. Therefore, rehabilitation counseling focuses on a single marginalized status, disability, while counseling and psychology tend to ignore disability. The goal of this article is to argue for more comprehensive training in graduate rehabilitation counseling training programs. To this end, four topics are presented: (1) a review of the social justice literature; (2) possible explanations for the findings of this review; (3) obstacles to the inclusion of social justice in the rehabilitation curriculum; and (4) recommendations for incorporating social justice into the graduate rehabilitation curriculum.

Abstract:
The article presents an analysis and interpretation of the sources and other materials gathered in search of answers to the questions about social pedagogy as the source of contemporary social rehabilitation thinking and practice. Social pedagogy and social rehabilitation pedagogy share some of their history, both rooted in the thinking and writings of the first Polish pedagogues (19th/20th century), and also in the institutional measures designed to serve people and social groups, especially children threatened by poverty, marginalization and social maladjustment. The article discusses the developmental stages of Polish social pedagogy, with the turning point being 1945, as well as their implications for the evolution of social rehabilitation ideas and practice, from their origin at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries to the present day.

Abstract:
IntroductionThe Italian law 81/2014 has given a strong push to the design of therapeutic-rehabilitative paths for psychiatric patients who are offenders. This innovation requires a constant organizational effort on the part of mental health services to enforce the law. The rehabilitation team is represented by different professionals like psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, psychiatric rehabilitation technicians, educators, social workers and others. They must be able to work in an integrated way among them and with private social sector.ObjectivesIt is in our interest to reach an agreement between different professionals working in the rehabilitation-forensic field about good practices.MethodsWe have prepared a survey to identify good practices in the field of psychosocial rehabilitation of the offender psychiatric patient, involving different professionals who have expertise.ResultsThis audit revealed, in everybody’s opinion, that these offending citizens have received a security measure capable of having greater control over their actions in a therapeutic-rehabilitative perspective but it is fundamental to educate them also to exercise their own safety for a social shared culture. Ensuring the safety of the offender during the therapeutic-rehabilitative path is as important as responding to a society’s need for social security.ConclusionsSatisfying a society’s need for security, established by the Judge and the Law, all this cannot separated from the active exercise of security of the offending psychiatric patient towards himself, through psychoeducation. The safety towards others and towards oneself can constitute a good practice in the field of psychosocial rehabilitation.DisclosureNo significant relationships.

Abstract:
This article provides an analysis of the Framework Decision 2008/909/JHA on the transfer of sentenced persons in the European Union (EU). Particular emphasis is placed on the provisions in the Framework Decision which makes direct or indirect reference to the aim of ‘social rehabilitation’. While this aim of punishment is referred to as the main rationale for transferring prisoners to another member state, it can be argued that the EU instrument fails to provide adequate safeguards against a potential misuse of the procedure. In particular, due to the increased automaticity of transfer proceedings, there is a risk that national authorities may not conduct a case-by-case assessment of the sentenced person’s situation. This sits at odds with the necessity of individualization underlying the rehabilitative ideal and may give rise to fundamental rights infringements. In the conclusion, a series of policy recommendations are put forward to increase the protection of the person’s interest to social rehabilitation.

Abstract:
This study examined the types of social injustice experiences rehabilitation counselor educators reported, and the relationship between different levels of social injustice experiences and infusion strategies of social justice into the curricula. The participants in the study included 101 rehabilitation counselor educators recruited from the listserv of the National Council on Rehabilitation Education. A quantitative content analysis method was used. The findings showed that social injustice experiences reported by the participants tend to be multidimensional. Participants who reported a high level of exposure to social injustice experiences were more likely to infuse social justice into their curricula at a higher level than participants who reported a low level of exposure to social injustice experiences. The study revealed that gaining an understanding of social injustice in educators' personal and professional lives may foster their efforts to integrate social justice into the curricula, which in turn, may potentially enhance the social justice competency for trainees. Implications for research and practice were discussed.

Abstract:
This invited article reports and reflects upon the proceedings of a presentation at the NRCA Symposium on Social Justice held on in Memphis Tennessee in 2019. The author posits that a proper understanding of social justice opens the door for a new, international vision for rehabilitation counseling in the context of community. The model reinterprets rehabilitation counseling as social justice counseling within the framework of community-based rehabilitation as currently defined within the established matrix and guidelines. This model augments our understanding of rehabilitation counseling role and function with an emerging practice in advocacy/empowerment. The construct of empowerment is operationalized for development in practice across community settings. The author reflects upon lessons learned in advancing this model of practice in the Asia/Pacific region. In a call for collaborative next steps, he concludes that the way to an empowered international identity for rehabilitation counseling is through an activist, inclusive, international community of practice that advocates for our role as agents of social justice.

Abstract:
The purpose of the article is to emphasise the importance of the concept of empowerment in the process of individual understanding of the category of resources by the students of social rehabilitation, in the context of “creative potentials”, “life orientation”, with confrontation with persons who are marginalised, excluded, under social pressure, by stimulating their defensive abilities, capability to take a risk of stigma management, creating constructive social independence and a new quality of life. The subject of descriptive literature analysis, however, is a reflection on the shape of non-obvious social rehabilitation students’ competence in terms of their professional functioning in the area of inclusion/exclusion. The indicated dimensions of the issue determine a starting point for a pedagogical confrontation with real day-to-day influences in the contemporary academic area as well as in the context of social rehabilitation practice. The conducted analysis indicates the need to elaborate a concept of the subject which would enable future pedagogues to have a look at the “Others”, not only through the prism of their own understanding, but above all in the dialectic perspective of becoming the subject.

Abstract:
The aimof this study was to evaluate real social functioning of patients in remission of paranoid schizophrenia in the dynamics of treatment and rehabilitation measures. Methods.Patients of the medical rehabilitation department were included in the transverse clinical and population study. Clinical scale evaluation was used, including PANSS, PSP. Results. It was shown that patients with schizophrenia included in the program of therapeutic and rehabilitative measures, met clinical and functional criteria of remission. Negative symptomatology prevailed in the clinical picture and was more present in male patients. Individual negative symptoms were associated with the effectiveness of rehabilitation. Despite the generally comparable level of social functioning in patients of different sexes, functioning in different spheres is mediated by the gender factor. Factors associated with the social functioning of patients include employment, experience of own family and independent living. As a result of treatment and rehabilitation measures, there is a tendency to decrease the severity of positive and negative symptoms, a reliable decrease in the severity of depressive symptoms and an increase in the level of social functioning of patients. Conclusions. The clinical and functional characteristics of schizophrenia remission are gender-specific. Differentiated assessment of patients social functioning should include professional and microsocial adaptation. The criteria for evaluation of the effectiveness of treatment and rehabilitation measures in remission of schizophrenia include reduction of the severity of residual symptoms and increase in the level of social functioning of patients.
