Abstract:

Abstract:
The objective of this research is to examine the correlation between social support and subjective well-being among vocational college students using empirical surveys. The intention is to provide a foundation for increasing their mental health and improving their subjective well-being. A total of 375 students from vocational colleges were chosen as participants, and their levels of social support and subjective well-being were assessed by the administration of a questionnaire. The findings indicated a substantial positive correlation between subjective well-being and objective support, subjective support, usage of support, and the overall social support score. (2) Female vocational college students exhibit a notably greater degree of assistance use compared to their male counterparts. There exists a notable disparity in survival rates between students pursuing liberal arts and those studying science in terms of subjective well-being, with science students exhibiting much greater levels of subjective well-being compared to liberal arts students. There are notable variations seen across different grades in terms of objective support, subjective support, usage of support, overall social support score, and subjective well-being. Following the LSD post-test analysis, it was determined that freshman students exhibited significantly lower levels of objective support, subjective support, total social support score, and subjective well-being score compared to students in other grades. On the other hand, sophomore students scored significantly higher than students in other grades in terms of utilization of support. (3) A multiple regression analysis revealed that objective support, subjective support, and usage of support positively predict subjective well-being. This research examines the correlation between social support and subjective well-being and offers empirical evidence and theoretical direction to enhance the subjective well-being of vocational college students via more focused coaching.

Abstract:
The main aim of this research is to get a thorough comprehension of the underlying mechanisms, through which social support influences an individual's subjective well-being. A mediation model has been created to examine the relationship between social support and subjective well-being with mental toughness serving as a mediator. The study was conducted using a sample size of 596 college students. The questionnaire method was used to investigate their social support, mental toughness, and subjective well-being. The findings indicate that (1) a significant positive link is seen between social support, mental toughness, and subjective well-being. Furthermore, a significant positive association has been seen between social support and subjective well-being. (2) The relationship between social support and the subjective well-being of college students is somewhat influenced by the mediating factor of mental toughness. This suggests that social support has the capacity to affect the subjective well-being of college students, both via direct means and indirectly through the mediating factor of mental toughness. The study results not only provide a valuable contribution to enhancing the subjective well-being of college students but also support the advancement of targeted mental health education.

Abstract:
Social environmental factors have rarely been considered in studies exploring the subjective well-being of older adult internal migrants in China. Thus, we investigated the effects of social environmental factors on the subjective well-being of 470 internal migrants (age range = 60–87 years) living in Dongguan, China, using data collected from a survey. The results indicate that the subjective well-being of older adult internal migrants was influenced by individual attributes (marital status, employment status, pension recipient status) and social environment (perceived social support, social cohesion, distance to the closest recreation facility). Social support exerted a stronger impact on subjective well-being than did individual attributes. There was a positive relationship between subjective well-being and perceived social support (including support from family members, friends, and others). Our findings indicate that the subjective well-being of older adult migrants can be enhanced by providing more recreational spaces and community events, and ensuring policies related to social support provide appropriate neighborhood-based support.

Abstract:
Background: Considering the change in the life situation during the student period, attention to their health, especially the subjective well-being of students, is of particular importance. Social support is very important in this era and the aim of this study is to examine a model between subjective well-being and personality traits and irrational beliefs with the mediation of social support. Methods: The statistical population included all the students of Hacettepe University in Turkey, and 296 people were selected as a sample using a multi-stage random method. To measure subjective well-being, social support, personality traits and irrational beliefs, Subjective Well-Being Scale (Tuzgöl Dost, 2005a); Perceived Social Support Scale (PSSS) (Yıldırım, 2004); Adjective-Based Personality Test (Bacanlı, İlhan, & Aslan, 2009) and the Irrational Beliefs Scale Short Form (Türküm, 2003) scales were used, respectively, which were psychologically conducted in Turkey for Turkish samples and had good validity and reliability. Results: The model test through structural equations showed that there is a significant relationship between neuroticism and conscientiousness both directly and indirectly through social support and subjective well-being. In this model, the indirect relationship of agreeableness with subjective well-being through social support was significant, but extroversion, interpersonal communication, and relational self-perception could not show a significant relationship through the mediation of social support on subjective well-being. Conclusion: Neuroticism and conscientiousness are both directly and indirectly related to subjective well-being through social support. The indirect relationship of agreeableness with subjective well-being was confirmed through social support, but extroversion and interpersonal communication and self-view showed a direct relationship with well-being and the mediation of social support was not confirmed in their case.

Abstract:
This mixed methods study examined the relationship between the college social experience and subjective well-being in autistic students in the Midwestern United States. An online survey focused on social connectedness, social participation, social support, and subjective well-being. A semi-structured interview discussed transition, supports received, and social participation. Correlations and a hierarchical regression were used to examine the relationship between social experience variables and subjective well-being from the survey. Inductive thematic analysis was used to identify interview themes. Theme counts for students who reported higher and lower subjective well-being were examined. Social connectedness, time spent with friends, and perceived social support were positively correlated with students’ subjective well-being, with social connectedness explaining unique variance. Common themes included challenges navigating a new social environment and the importance of family, friends, and professors in providing social support. Students with lower subjective well-being more frequently discussed struggles to make social connections and the trade-off between socializing and succeeding academically, whereas students with higher subjective well-being more frequently described college as providing opportunities to develop meaningful social connections. This study adds new perspectives on the college experience for autistic students and highlights the important role that social connections and support play in their subjective well-being.

Large samples of data from the World Values Survey, the US Benchmark Survey and a comparable Canadian survey are used to estimate equations designed to explore the social context of subjective evaluations of well–being, of happiness, and of health. Social capital, as measured by the strength of family, neighbourhood, religious and community ties, is found to support both physical health and subjective well–being. Our new evidence confirms that social capital is strongly linked to subjective well–being through many independent channels and in several different forms. Marriage and family, ties to friends and neighbours, workplace ties, civic engagement (both individually and collectively), trustworthiness and trust: all appear independently and robustly related to happiness and life satisfaction, both directly and through their impact on health.

Abstract:
<p>Subjective well-being is a global health issue exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Social support has a positive impact on subjective well-being, however, the level of impact and the regulatory mechanism of social support on subjective well-being with reference to economic and cultural differences is unknown. Based on the Gallup survey data, a panel fixed effect model is constructed to examine the heterogeneity and regulatory mechanisms of social support on subjective well-being according to country-based economic and cultural matrix. Our findings show that, first, economic differences cause heterogeneous influence of social support on subjective well-being. Specifically, high-income countries have positive impact of social support on subjective well-being; whereas the lower ones have no significant influence. Secondly, cultural differences also cause heterogeneous impact, i.e. generosity of cultural characteristics regardless of high or low level in countries has a significant positive impact on subjective well-being, however, the degree of impact varies and is associated with level of generosity. Thirdly, a cross examination of heterogeneous moderating effect shows that democracy and freedom have a significant positive adjustment effect in both high and low generosity culture-characterized countries. These findings are significant to shape the conception of economic dominated social support for well-being, with significant implication for balancing (or shifting) social and public health policy with economic support towards building generosity and democratic societies.</p>

This research was conducted to determine the influence of social support (emotional support, instrumental support, informational support, and companionship support), social comparison (opinion and ability) and age among young mothers who use social media. A sample of 200 young mothers aged 18-37 years was taken with non-probability sampling techniques. This research used Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) & Positive Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS) to measure the subjective well-being variable. The instrument for social support was arranged based on theory of Sarafino (2011). Futhermore the instrument for social comparison was modified from the Iowa-Netherlands Comparison Orientation Scale (INCOM). The results showed there was a significant influence of social support, social comparison, and age towards subjective well-being of young mothers. The minor hypothesis test of four dimensions of social support showed only one dimension that influenced subjective well-being, which was emotional support. On social comparison, one of the two dimensions that significantly influenced subjective well-being was ability, whereas the other dimension which was opinion did not give significant influence toward subjective well-being.

Abstract:
Adolescents' subjective well-being is critical in holistic development, but its determinants must be fully identified. This research investigates the direct and indirect effects of interpersonal mindfulness and social support on adolescent subjective well-being, emphasizing the mediating role of self-esteem. Using a correlational design, purposive sampling was taken from 111 class XI students at the Indonesian Education University Laboratory High School. The validated instruments used include the subjective well-being inventory for high school students, the interpersonal mindfulness scale-short, the student social support scale, and the Rosenberg self-esteem scale. Using JASP path analysis indicates that interpersonal mindfulness and social support do not significantly affect subjective well-being. However, self-esteem shows a substantial direct influence and is a significant mediator between interpersonal mindfulness, social support, and subjective well-being. These findings emphasize the importance of self-esteem in improving adolescents' subjective well-being. Implications of the study include the development of integrative interventions that include mindfulness practices, emphasizing increasing self-esteem and strengthening social support. Education and training programs designed to increase self-esteem, optimize social support, and reduce the negative impact of social media can significantly improve teenagers' subjective well-being. Further research is needed to elaborate on this paradigm's cultural and digital factors.

Building upon the perspectives of social capital theory, social support, and experience, this study developed a theoretical model to investigate the determinants of subjective well-being on social media. This study also examined the moderating role of experience on the relationship between subjective well-being and social support. Data collected from 267 social media users in Taiwan were used to test the proposed model. Structural equation modeling analysis was used to test the measurement model and the structural model. The findings reveal that receiving online support and providing online support are the key predictors of subjective well-being. Furthermore, social capital positively influences the reception and provision of online support. Finally, providing online support has a significant effect on the subjective well-being of users with low levels of use experience, while receiving online support exerts a stronger influence on the subjective well-being of users with high levels of use experience.

Abstract:
Student-athletes may have high stress, and the level of their subjective well-being could be low due to the dual role of being a student and an athlete. In the field of sport psychology, social support has received focal attention to identifying its impact on individuals’ subjective well-being. However, there is a lack of research that focuses on teammate support and subjective well-being. Thus, this study examined how the perception of teammate support influences subjective well-being through positive emotions based on the environmental psychology model and the broaden-and-build theory of positive emotions. This study collected 313 responses from university student-athletes in Singapore and conducted a confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling analysis. Results showed that perceived teammate support had a positive influence on subjective well-being through positive emotion. Also, there was a direct effect of perceived teammate support on subjective well-being. The results support the critical role of perceived teammate support in enhancing the student-athletes’ subjective well-being. The findings of this study are beneficial for coaches and student-leaders to design strategies to improve the subjective well-being of student-athletes.

Abstract:
Background The aging population has led to a marked increase in the prevalence of chronic diseases among the elderly, significantly impacting their physical and mental health, as well as their overall quality of life. In rural regions of Western China, these challenges are exacerbated by limited access to medical insurance, low living standards, and inadequate mental health services. Consequently, the physical and mental well-being of elderly individuals with chronic conditions in these areas warrants focused attention. This study aims to investigate the interrelationships between depression, social support, and subjective well-being, with particular emphasis on the mediating role of social support. Methods This cross-sectional study involved a survey of 2,156 elderly individuals aged 60 and above, all living with chronic diseases in the rural areas of Qiannan, Guizhou, China. Pearson correlation and hierarchical linear regression analyses were employed to explore the relationships between the variables. A structural equation model was then constructed using Amos 23.0, based on the identified correlations between depression, social support, and subjective well-being. The bootstrap estimation method was applied to assess the mediating effect of social support in the depression-subjective well-being relationship. Results The analysis revealed a significant negative correlation between depression and subjective well-being, while social support showed a strong positive association with subjective well-being. Mediation analysis confirmed that social support significantly mediates the relationship between depression and subjective well-being, accounting for 10.23% of the total effect. Notably, the influence of subjective support on depression and subjective well-being was found to be more pronounced than that of objective support or social support utilization. Conclusions The findings highlight the necessity of strengthening the social support system for elderly individuals with chronic diseases in rural Western China, particularly by enhancing psychological and emotional support. This approach is crucial for mitigating depressive symptoms and improving subjective well-being in this population.

Abstract:
Many studies have shown that mobile phone dependence decreases subjective well-being, but there have been relatively few studies that investigate the specific mechanisms between mobile phone dependence and subjective well-being. In this study, the mediating effect of self-esteem and the moderating effect of social support were investigated to explore the specific mechanisms between mobile phone dependence and subjective well-being. The objective of the study is to explore the mechanism of mobile dependence on subjective well-being by constructing a moderated mediation model. College students from twenty classes in three universities were randomly selected. A total of 550 college students fully participated in the actual evaluation and completed the general well-being scale, mobile phone addiction index scale, self-esteem scale, and social support scale. SPSS17.0 was used to analyze the data. The results show that: (1) Self-esteem partially mediates the relationship between mobile phone dependence and subjective well-being. Mobile phone dependence not only has a direct influence on subjective well-being, but also influences subjective well-being indirectly by self-esteem; (2) The mediating effect of self-esteem between mobile phone dependence and subjective well-being is moderated by social support. Social support moderates the second path of the mediation, and the higher the social support, the greater the degree of self-esteem on subjective well-being. For the management of mobile phone dependence of college students, more attention needs to be paid to the personality characteristics of different students. In addition, there should be efforts to avoid blindly educating students and instead to increase their social support and create a good atmosphere on campus and in society. Only in this way can they improve their subjective well-being.

Abstract:
As people age, they are expected to experience adverse life conditions and major life events. These circumstances might have a significant impact on their subjective well-being. This study investigated the factors associated with subjective well-being among community-dwelling Filipino senior citizens. We conducted a cross-sectional study among 1021 senior citizens (68.5% women) aged 60 and above and identified the factors independently associated with their subjective well-being using multiple linear regression analysis. We also used hierarchical regression analysis for model prediction. In the hierarchical regression analysis, psychological resilience was found as the most powerful predictor of subjective well-being. Loneliness, however, was the only psychosocial factor not associated with it. Both men and women with positive self-rated health and had higher psychological resilience and perceived social support showed a higher level of subjective well-being. Women who were separated and received pension and men who were uneducated showed a lower level of subjective well-being. Psychological resilience, positive self-rated health, and perceived social support might be protective factors for low subjective well-being. To improve the subjective well-being of Filipino senior citizens, we should build psychological resilience and social support networks in the community.

This study examines the relationship between social support and subjective well-being among students at Universitas Islam 45 Bekasi. College students, transitioning from adolescence to adulthood, often face academic pressures and life challenges impacting their well-being. This study use a quantitative correlational design and involved 134 students selected through simple random sampling, with the sample size determined via G*Power using a medium effect size. Data collection utilized validated and reliable subjective well-being and social support scales. Data analysis included assumption tests (normality and linearity) and hypothesis testing with simple regression and Spearman correlation. The findings reveal that social support significantly influences subjective well-being, indicating that higher social support corresponds to greater well-being levels. This highlights the importance of developing social support programs in universities to enhance student well-being. Future research could broaden the scope by involving students from diverse universities and incorporating additional variables, such as self-efficacy or coping strategies, to deepen insights into factors influencing subjective well-being.

Abstract:
Social support has been linked to numerous adaptive psychosocial health outcomes. The Brief Perceived Social Support Questionnaire (BPSSQ) is a newly developed measure of general social support. This study aimed to test the psychometric properties and dimensionality of the BPSSQ in Turkish language and tested the mediating effect of resilience in the relationship between social support and satisfaction with life. Participants included 202 college students (69.3% females), with a mean age of 22.58 years (SD=1.26) who completed online measures of social support, resilience, and satisfaction with life. As expected, the BPSSQ provided a one-factor structure with a satisfactory internal consistency. Social support significantly predicted resilience and satisfaction with life. Resilience also predicted satisfaction with life. Furthermore, the results supported the hypothesis of mediating role of resilience in the relationship between social support and satisfaction with life. These results are important in terms of providing evidence of the underlying mechanism between social support and satisfaction with life. Future intervention efforts aimed at increasing social support and satisfaction with life may benefit from resilience.

Abstract:
Subjective well-being is an essential part of mental health in both religious and non-religious communities. On a global scale, most research on the relationship between religiosity and subjective well-being is conducted on English-speaking, Western, and Christian populations. This large-scale study is expected to complement and balance previous research by reporting the important role of resilience as a mediator in the relationship between religiosity, social support, and self-efficacy on subjective well-being based on a sample of Indonesians, the world's largest Muslim population. Data collection uses adaptation of standardized scales, namely the Positive Affect Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS) and Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) for measurement of Subjective well-being, Resilience Evaluation Scale (RES) for resiliency, The Centrality of Religiosity Scale (CRS) for religiosity, The Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) for social support, and the General Self-efficacy scale (GSES) for self-efficacy. A convenience sample of 1640 Muslim undergraduate students made up the responses. This study's findings suggest that self-efficacy, social support, and religiosity all directly influence resilience. Subjective well-being is directly affected by religion, social support, self-efficacy, and resilience. The association between self-efficacy, social support, self-religion, and subjective well-being is mediated by resilience. Resilience partially mediates the relationship between religiosity, social support, and self-efficacy with subjective well-being. This research has practical implications for the practice of Islamic guidance and counseling, notably the use of religion as a tool to build resilience, for instance, through a more positive reading of difficulties as God's gift for personal growth.

Main Outcomes Measure(s) The Trait Hope Scale, the Sports Injury Rehabilitation Beliefs Survey, the Satisfaction with Life Scale, the Positive Affective and Negative Affective Scale, and the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support were completed by participants after they received their regular rehabilitation treatment. Results We conducted hierarchical regressions and found that social support and 2 types of hope in injured athletes predicted their rehabilitation beliefs and subjective well-being. However, only hope agency predicted their rehabilitation behavior. Also, hope and social support had an interactive effect on the prediction of subjective well-being; for participants with low hope pathways, the perception of more social support was associated with higher levels of subjective well-being, whereas social support had only a relatively low association with subjective well-being among participants with high hope pathways. Conclusions Enhancing hope perceptions and strengthening injured athletes' social support during rehabilitation are beneficial to rehabilitation behavior and subjective well-being.

Abstract:
Everybody aspires and deserves some personal well-being. This kind of well-being is subjective, and it is shaped by the way individuals perceive and feel the situations surrounding their lives. This study aimed to investigate the effect of gratitude and social support on fishermen's subjective well-being. This study's subjects were 299 fishermen living in the coastal area of Pelabuhan Ratu, who were chosen through an accidental sampling technique. In collecting data, subjective well-being was measured using Flourishing Scale (Diener et al., 2009) and Scale of Positive and Negative Experience (Diener & Biswas-Diener, 2008), Gratitude Scale, which was based on Gratitude Resentment and Appreciation Test (Watkins, Woodward, Stone, & Kolts, 2003), and Social Support Scale that was based on Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (Dahlem, et al., 1991). Multiple regression analysis showed that the entire independent variables significantly influenced subjective well-being. Meanwhile, each dimension's regressive coefficient on the independent variables showed four sub-variables that significantly influenced the dependent variables: sense of abundance, simple appreciation, appreciation to others, and family support.

Abstract:
This study aims to investigate the relationship between peer social support and subjective well-being among street children. Street children are particularly vulnerable to negative emotional and psychological effects due to their harsh living conditions. This research used a quantitative approach with a correlational method to analyze the data. The sample consisted of 100 street children aged 12-18 years, selected through accidental sampling. The data were collected using questionnaires, and the relationship between the two variables was analyzed using Spearman's Rho correlation analysis. The subjective well-being of participants was measured using the scale developed by Diener, while social support was measured using the Sarafino scale. The results of the analysis indicated a significant positive correlation (r = 0.797, p < 0.01) between peer social support and subjective well-being. This means that higher levels of peer social support are associated with higher levels of subjective well-being in street children. The findings suggest that social support from peers plays a crucial role in enhancing the emotional and psychological health of street children. The study concludes that fostering positive peer relationships can improve subjective well-being, highlighting the importance of peer support in the lives of street children. Future research could explore other variables that influence subjective well-being to deepen our understanding of this issue complated.

Abstract:
This study aims to analyze the role of self-acceptance in mediating the influence of gratitude and social support on subjective well-being. The sample criteria include mothers who have children with special needs, specifically those with children aged 1 to 12 years. The total number of samples used was 102 participants. The sampling technique employed was purposive sampling. The instruments used to measure the subjective well-being variables were the SWLS (Satisfaction with Life Scale) and PANAS (Positive Affect Negative Affect Schedule). The gratitude variable was measured using the Gratitude Questionnaire (GQ-6), while social support was assessed using the MSPSS (Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support). Self-acceptance was measured using the Porter Parent Acceptance Scale (PPAS). Data analysis was conducted in the form of mediation analysis using JASP version 18.3. The results showed that self-acceptance significantly mediated the influence of gratitude and social support on subjective well-being. The magnitude of the influence of gratitude and social support on self-acceptance was 63.7%, while the combined influence of gratitude, social support, and self-acceptance on subjective well-being was 97.4%. This indicates that the role of gratitude and social support, with the mediation of self-acceptance, is substantial in shaping subjective well-being for mothers who have children with special needs. The findings of this study are also recommended for the development of counseling guidance science by emphasizing mothers' self-acceptance to foster positive subjective well-being.

Abstract:
Purpose: Subjective well-being is a key factor affecting the overall quality of life of cancer patients. The aim of this study was to provide information on improving the level of happiness to breast cancer patients by exploring the relationships among character strengths, perceived social support and subjective well-being. Methods: A total of 181 breast cancer patients were enrolled. Participants completed a general information questionnaire, the values in action inventory of strengths questionnaire, the perceived social support scale questionnaire, and the index of well-being questionnaire. Results: The subjective well-being and perceived social support of breast cancer patients were positively correlated with their character strengths (r = 0.167-0.630, all P < 0.05). Perceived social support played a mediating role between the four traits of character strength and subjective well-being. The percentages of the mediating effects that comprised the total effects were 26.3% for perceptual—self-focused, 26.5% for perceptual—other-focused, 23.5% for rational—self-focused, and 23.7% for rational—other-focused. Conclusion: Breast cancer patients’ subjective well-being can be improved by their character strengths and high levels of perceived social support.

Abstract:
Subjective well-being was originally considered to be an individual benchmark in achieving satisfaction in a stable life. However, there are several factors that affect the decrease and increase in subjective well-being, such as social support and personality. This study aims to determine the effect of personality openness as a mediator of the relationship between social support and subjective well-being. This type of research is ex-post facto. The research location was at SMAN 1 Pacitan Regency with a total sample of 237 students. The sample collection technique uses simple random sampling. The data collection technique uses a scale consisting of a personality openness scale, a social support scale, and a subjective welfare scale. The instrument validation technique uses the previous measuring instrument validity and reliability based on the Cronbach Alpha coefficient. Data analysis used multiple regression with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that there was a significant positive influence on personality openness as a mediator of the relationship between social support and subjective well-being. The mediation model in this study is known as perfect mediation because the value on path c', namely the variable social support with subjective well-being and then included the openness personality variable, found insignificant results. The percentage of the contribution of the social support variable to the subjective welfare variable which was initially 22.7% became 49.2% after including openness personality as a mediator

Abstract:
Objective. Analysis of the role of social support in ensuring the subjective well-being of students. Background. Subjective well-being is an integral experience of physical, psychological, and social health. Social support as an important resource of subjective well-being of young people has not yet received comprehensive coverage. Study design. We studied the differences between students with high and low levels of subjective well-being in terms of attitude to social support and readiness to apply for it. Frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, and comparative analysis were used for data processing. Participants. The study involved 850 respondents. The sample includes students of different courses and faculties of universities in Saint Petersburg and Novosibirsk. Measurements. To collect empirical data, Russian-language versions of the following methods were used: 1) Multidimensional Scale of Perception of Social support — MSPSS by D. Zimet; 2) The Multidi-mensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MHC-SF) — screening version of the test by C. Keyes to assess subjective well-being; 3) The General Help Seeking Questionnaire (GHSQ). Results. Students are more willing to seek help from people in their immediate environment (romantic partners, friends, parents, relatives) than from specialists (psychologists, doctors, religious figures). There are significant differences between students with high and low levels of subjective well-being in terms of intent to search for different types of social support. Conclusions. There is a large gap in students’ perception of the effectiveness of informal types of support (from family, friends, relatives, significant persons) and formal, professional types of support (psychologists, doctors, helpline). Informal types of support enjoy a degree of trust higher than that of professional types of support. That is why it is necessary to organize and improve the student assistance service at higher educational institutions
